Hotel was clean and well kept. The linens were high end. The room was a nice size and the bathroom was large with a granite floor,and marble counter. It was great to have a fridge and microwave. Hotel was great. I originally got a single, but upon my arrival was upgraded to king suite with kitchenette. Beds were comfortable and the room was very clean. The ONLY downside to this place was that there was no air conditioning however there was a fan in the room. With no a/c, the nights were a bit uncomfortable even with the windows open. Terrific location, not only for British Museum, but for the entire West End. Unless it was raining, we always walked back to the hotel from a West End theatre, and the National Theatre and the Southbank Complex were a quick bus trip, with a stop just a short block from the hotel. Do not consider staying at any of the hotels on Bedford Place. There are a number of hotels that all share the same buildings. The security is only controlled by a CCTV and allows easy access from the street. During the July 9th weekend, mine and a number of rooms were broken into at the Portland Hotel (we booked Buckingham, but was staying in the adject […] building). There are a number of other hotels in the area that are set up as hotels and not converted apartments. Luckily nothing was stolen, but we were very suspicious of the security and closed our drapes when putting items in the safe immediately upon arrival. It seems like the only thing the thieves were looking for were either cash or passports. Our jewelry and electronics were not taken. The hotel manager was very well trained in this situation and did all that someone in her position could. It would have been a nice gesture from the hotel to pay for some drinks, a meal or one of our nights. I think they should invest some serious money changing the layout of the hotels and better security and not just cameras. Read more

We were given a surprisingly large room, on the street front. It had everything we needed, except sufficient hanging and drawer space for a week's stay. Everything worked, and the staff were very helpful. Some points on the down side: We found the hotel breakfast over-priced so we went elsewhere after the first morning. The bar is in the hotel next-door […] and is minimal. A temporary problem is that the building opposite is being redeveloped, so there is building noise earlier than holiday guests might wish. Fantastic location on a quiet street of georgian townhouses between Russell square and Bloomsbury square. My room was a single, with a small kitchen unit in a cupboard. This hotel is well located and central. I was travelling with a baby and it was easy for me to walk to the bus stops and underground station. Perfectly located in a nice, quiet area just a few minutes walk from the Covent Garden district with theatres, shops and restaurants. A few Pubs and small restaurants were "just around the corner". Något hade blivit fel, så jag fick en upgrade. Det lät ju bra, och rummet var verkligen stort och bekvämt. Ingenting att klaga på där, men det var inte bra att bo i källaren. undvik källarrummen - dels bristen på utsikt och dagsljus, och dels att luftkonditioneringen gjorde att det faktiskt kändes rått och kallt som i en potatiskällare. Området var centralt i forhold til London. Tæt på det meste, men stadig et roligt og behageligt område. Hotellet var helt udemærket, dog lidt for dyrt i forhold til den standard, som de holder. Godt hotel til et kortere ophold, men for dyrt i forhold standarden til et længere ophold såsom en eller to uger.

Globalement, ce fut une excellente surprise. Hôtel charmant, situé à 2 pas de la station de métro Russel Square, proche des axes de circulation mais néanmoins au calme (l'appartement n°2 que nous occupions donnait sur un jardinet, les bruits en provenance de l'extérieur ne s'entendaient quasiment pas, même fenêtre ouverte). Belle prestation, le logement […] comprend tout ce qu'il faut pour se confectionner soi-même dîner ou petit déjeuner (un réfrigérateur et un micro-ondes sont à votre disposition, et sachets de café/thé/chocolat/sucre, etc...sont renouvelés chaque matin). Par ailleurs, la vaisselle est faite et rangée, alors que demander de plus ! Ne soyez pas surpris effectivement (cf commentaires ci-dessous) si 40 livres sont demandées à l'arrivée. Cette somme n'est destinée qu'à couvrir d'éventuelles dépenses annexes (téléphone par exemple) et n'est donc pas débitée si ces prestations ne sont pas utilisées ! En conclusion, une très bonne adresse d'un hôtel aux dimensions humaines, au charme anglais, avec un accueil souriant, sympathique et disponible, qui change des "usines à touristes" que l'on peut trouver non loin de là.
