This place was great! The food and service were wonderful, and the staff were friendly and attentive. It's easy to get to town by either the free shuttle or a tuk-tuk, and the resort is conveniently located between the airport and all the sights. I will definitely return to this resort. Be sure to get a room with a pool view!

We stayed in a room with a private balcony overlooking the pool. This room was a lot better than our original room which was a twin double beds. Rooms are nice if you get a private balcony. Standards in Siem reap is different than other major cities.

Not in the city center as advertised. It's a 10-to-15-minute car ride to town. Not a member of Preferred Hotels & Resorts as advertised. Not included on the 2011 Conde Nast Traveler Gold List or the 2011 Travel+Leisure 500 List as advertised. And certainly not a 4.5-star property.

We loved this hotel! Siem Reap is a fun city with a lot to see, and this hotel was the icing on the cake. The staff was incredibly attentive, the pool was gorgeous, the room was clean and comfortable, and the service was phenomenal. We wouldn't blink an eye about staying here again! My wife and I stayed here for two nights in May and were very pleased with the resort. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful, really making their guests feel at home in the place. The room we had was a little smaller than some of the rooms we had at comparable hotel/resorts in Thailand, but it was very comfortable nonetheless. My one complaint is that the free shuttle service into town should be a little more frequent (should be hourly instead of once every two hours). I loved this place! Kim, from the front desk, and the driver, picked me up at the airport with big smiles. In the short trip to the hotel, they taught me several Khmer words that made the rest of my trip more fun b/c of the response of the locals when I attempted to speak Khmer. The hotel is a few minutes-tuk-tuk ride outside the city center where all the cool restaurants, bars, markets are. I rented a bicycle in town for 5 days to get around. (I highly recommend seeing Angkor Wat (especially the further temples, away from the crowds) by bicycle.) The pool is large and nice, I had a massage after a long bike-ride. The gym is small an surrounded by a water-feature. It was a little too warm and felt like I was in a fishbowl, but still functional. We stayed at the Royal Angkor Resort & Spa for 7 nights, including X-mas Eve. We are seasoned travellers and this was our 2nd time in Siem Reap. Unfortunately we booked our stay at the RAR based on many favorable reviews, which I now disagree with. There were several incidents which lower my rating. For starters, the English comprehension of the staff […] was perhaps the worst I have experienced anywhere in the world. I know you're thinking this seems like no big deal. But the staff's lack of (basic) understanding made several otherwise easy requests and questions way more complicated, for example ordering room service,m booking tours, scheduling seats on the shuttle, etc. BTW due to the hotel's location on "Airport Road" it's not really within walking distance to much/anything so plan on spending approx. $3/ride in a tuk-tuk to get yourself around. They attempted to raise the price of an already highly inflated tour booked through the hotel. The breakfast buffet mostly features Asian foods and the X-mas Eve "gala dinner" we were required to attend at $55 per plate was probably the biggest disappointment of the entire trip. Everybody at the hotel was very friendly but that seems to be the case with everybody in Cambodia. There are better places to stay in Siem Reap for about the same price. The room was noisy. The bed was uncomfortable (not memory foam.) Old full-screen TVs, not LCD. Could smell hallway cig smoke. Read more

Really nice hotel, who help organise our trips to the temples ($50 inc. tip for a full day with driver, $10 for a return tuk-tuk for sunrise). Shuttle bus also provide to take us to the town centre. A little way out of town,however the hotel has a free mini bus shuttle which was a real bonus. The 25 metre hotel pool was great and always quiet. Staff couldn't do enough for you if anything they were almost too courteous! Breakfast in the Restaurant catered mainly for Asian tastes, fortunately there was a made to order omelette/egg station.

A very warm welcome awaited me when I arrived on a solo trip for 5 nights. The staff were extremely friendly through out my stay and always willing to help. My room overlooked the pool with a small balcony to sit out on. My room was a good size with a very comfortable bed. I highly recommend the spa where you can get a great massage as well as use of the steam room. It is an excellent place to unwind after a hard day around the temples. This hotel was Fabulous! I actually extended my stay for 2 more days because I enjoyed it so much. Me were promptly picked up form the airport and our driver had cold towels for us and bottles of water!! My room was very large and comfortable, and overlooked the pool. Beautiful balcony to sit on. The food was very good and the breakfast buffet was huge! […] So many choices. Everyone who works at the hotel was so nice and spoke very good English. Mr. Ny and Mr. Kong served us in the restaurant on most occasions and were so accommodating and sweet. The general manager even stopped to say hello and ask about our stay. The hotel arranged a driver for us for the day and we toured Siem Reap and Angkor with no troubles. The hotel is in a great location about 8 minutes from the airport and a short drive to the temples and the markets. Wifi in the room was a big plus too! We stayed for 4 nights in early March 2012 while visiting the Angkor temples, and spent our 26th wedding anniversary here. We took advantage of the free 10 min massage and extended it by 1 hour as a couples massage. Truly got us off to a relaxed start. The spa is where the Gym is, next to the pool. Unfortunately the Gym is not air conditioned and with […] 35 to 36 celcius (98-100 farenheit) temperatures every day, it meant our plans to use the gym every day fell foul of the heat. Would be better if they moved the gym to one of the under-utilised air conditioned rooms on the ground floor near reception. Pool area is great. The hotel is a little away from the town centre which means it is nice & quiet but a 10-15 minute tuk tuk ride into town is only US $2 or US$3 depending how hard you haggle. The bed was a little firm for my liking but my wife had no complaints- pillows were nice & thick, with two thicknesses to choose from in our room. The breakfast buffet was good. We asked for a take- away breakfast pack the day before for our sunrise trip to Angkor Wat and it was ready and waiting at 5 am. The main restaurant offers pretty good value compared to the many offerings in town and the service was superior to in town. Staff met every request with a friendly smile and provided it promptly. We used the free airport shuttle both ways and it was very professional and prompt with an air conditioned Mercedes Van providing the comfort. The free town centre shuttle operates every 2 hours with the last service at 8 pm, so if you use this you need to catch a tuk tuk home. Hotel is 8 years old and is very well maintained. Great value for us as this was a quieter time of the season apparently, so we got a great deal through Hotels.com. Overall would recommend as a good place to stay. Read more

The hotel was lovely and the service staff were helpful however there were a few things that let them down and meant they don't get top marks. We had to follow up each day and ask that our room be cleaned because even though we left very early each morning and returned late in the afternoon, for some reason they kept missing our room. For example, we would try to arrange something in the morning (like transport or the power outages that kept occuring in our rooom) to be told they would organise and for us to check back in the afternoon. We would go to the desk in the afternoon and new service staff would have no idea what we were talking about - messages just weren't relayed between them. We spent a lot of time having to speak to one staff member and then repeat ourselves to another to get any action on our concerns. We also had requested a room with two beds and had to moved from our original room with a pool view to a room with a street view because that was all they had left even though we had paid for and booked a pool view room with two beds in advance. The hotel is in a good location, it's large and has nice facilities and people are generally helpful (when you take out the lack of communication). Although the hotel wants to sell it self as a five star resort - there is nothing 5 stars about it. It was clean - that's about it. The food very expensive when compared to the quality of it. The personel did almost not speak any English. Over all the resort is not at all luxurious.

At arrival, I was a little unpleasant when the receptinist demanded my credit card number. I had already paid to hotels.com. Besides that, everything was good.
