It was a luxuries stay and a splurge for a spring break get away. Everything about the hotel was lovely until we were blind sided with the house keeping expenses (which we asked about: "are there any extra expenses we should be aware of?"). And as I titled the review, staying at the FontaineBleau was magnificent, but is a once in a life time experience, nothing more.

WE DID A STAY-CATION WITH MY DAUGHTER WHO WAS HOME ON SPRING BREAK FROM COLLEGE. WE ALL ENJOYED OUR TIME. CHECKED IN ON WEDNESDAY AT 10AM (LUCKED OUT AND GOT EARLY CHECK-IN BUT THEY WOULD HAVE HELD OUR BAGS AND ALLOWED US TO GO TO THE POOL EVEN IF THEY DIDN'T HAVE OUR ROOM READY). SPENT THE DAY AT THE POOL. FELT LIKE WE WERE FAR FROM MIAMI AND DEFINITELY ON VACATION. ALTHOUGH WE ONLY STAYED THE ONE NIGHT (WEDNESDAY), WE STILL WERE ABLE TO ENJOY THE FACILITES ALL DAY THURSDAY. THUS, WITHONE NIGHT'S HOTEL STAY WE ENJOYED TWO DAYS OF VACATION TIME. LOVED IT. MY DAUGHTER WANTS TO MOVE IN. I TOLD HER TO GET A JOB.

Very disappointed in staff at valet....refused to park my vehicle because It was overheating....made me go to public lot 3 blocks away, did not offer to take my bags, I carried them 3 blocks....did not offer assist in getting it towed, fixed, AAA, not anything. Hotel was beautiful

Spent three days here last week with husband and college age son. Very nice hotel. Our rooms were nice-nothing extravagant. Wish they'd upgrade technology amenities -- no USB ports in room!! Beach was wonderful as was pool. People watching is fabulous! You will see it all!! The ONLY con: it is pricey. From rooms to food and especially drinks. $70 for a pitcher of fruity alcohol concoction at the beach. If you want to splurge, get a cabana at the beach. Food and beverage service and great cover from the Miami sun. But be prepared to pay price of a small car payment for daily fee!

Fontainebleau hotel is a very large hotel, with several pools and direct access on the beach. The amenities have been renovated pretty recently, or so it seemed. We picked the basic room with expedia and we had a view on both the ocean and the lagoon (Versailles tower), the room was clean, the bed was comfortable and the bathroom was very large (with a bathtub and a shower). The lobby is beautifully decorated, the lobby bar and the several restaurants and nightculb give a very lively atmosphere to the place. The hotel is right across a beautiful beach, and you have free access to loungers on the beach - which is great! Now, the downsides: You have to wake up early to get a lounger by the pool because by 10:00 AM, the only loungers left are on the grass, not by the pool. The hotel is located quite far from the "center" of South Beach, you either have to walk 30 minutes (via the boardwalk, its beautiful), take a cab ($12), or ride a bus ($2.50) to reach Lincoln Road and Ocean Drive, where all restaurants are. The hotel restaurants and cafés are prohibitively expensive. A coffee will cost you between $4 and $12, a sandwich is more than $10, cocktails are $16 and more. We thought we were getting a great deal because the hotel+flight combo was decently priced, but it turned out not to be cost effective because food and drinks were outrageously overpriced at Fontainebleau.

I was only there for 3 (for a conference), but the hotel is great. The staff is super friendly and very helpful. What I love most is that you don't have to leave the hotel for anything If you don't want to: restaurants onsite, the middle lobby bar turns into a nightclub, etc. the rooms are very neat and comfortable....I want to go back for vacation now!

Went for a little R & R with the wife and kids. Stopped here for a few nights on our way down to Key West. HUGE resort, wasn't aware of the size when I booked it. There were a couple of large meetings going on during our stay. If you love sun, beach and people watching this is the place! If you are looking for something a little more relaxing, probably not the right choice. Overall a good stay.

Last year I stayed at tve Eden Roc and this year I stayed at Fountainebleau. In comparison, the Fountainebleau was much larger, fancier, cleaner and more modern and it had more to offer. I felt that I was treated better at the Fountainebleau and the staff were not as snotty. My only complaint is that I found everything to be over the top overpriced. Meals cost twice as much as they should. They will charge you $40 for a just okay grilled chicken salad at their casual outdoor restaurant and that is just the tip of the iceberg. We were upset to find that we couldn't store cold items in the mini-fridge because that goes against hotel policy. Worst of all, they tack on a $20 resort fee per night even though they told us at checkin that that was paid for through Expedia. This is the perfect place for you if you are not worried about cost. The hotel is absolutely gorgeous and in a lovely sunny spot on the beach. We had a lot of fun and were super comfortable. Next time though I am going to look for something a bit more affordable.

The hotel is gigantic and impersonal, very Las Vegas-ish. It is not near anything on foot, so you are a captive audience which is reflected by the hotel's absurd over pricing of everything. (Example: Two small piña coladas at the bar, without waitress service, was over $40.) There are many hotels that are far superior value in the area.

This was one of the most expensive places I've stayed and you get very little for your money. No amenities in the room (no coffee, no water) and it was so crowded it was hard to get a beach chair. Loud music everywhere. Drinks are $22.00 each with the tax and tip they force on you. Unless you are in your 20's I would stay away.

Room was great with great view. 45 minute wait to check in. Room keys had to replaced twice. No available chairs at pool. 15 minute line to get beach chairs. Not enough staff and pool or beach for drinks. No staff outside to hail cabs.

The hotel was nice, updated and the staff was very helpful. Our room was also very nice with an ocean view, a Mac computer and pleasant decor. I was very disappointed however not to have a coffeemaker in our room which is standard fare even in the most inexpensive hotels. Overall, my major objection to this hotel is that they charge you for every little thing and the charges are substantial. Furthermore, on our first evening, we had drinks inside the hotel and, in addition to the drinks being very expensive, they added on a transaction or service charge (not a gratuity) of over 15%. The gratuity was still an option. I have no objection to them adding a gratuity charge but it should be stated as such if that's what it was. If it was in addition to an expected gratuity, it borders on absurdity. My friend, who was with us and lives 18 blocks from the Fontainebleau on the ocean, was also astounded by the charges and she eats out every night with drinks. I was very disappointed with this aspect of the hotel.

Upon arriving my family and I were treated great! Our stay was decent but for the money we spent I felt like we could have received more somewhere else. When it was time to check-out the front desk was pretty rude when I asked about some extra billings we had received. I was confused as to some other extra's and felt like they just expected me to pay the charges and not ask. I felt pretty uncomfortable and left with a bad taste in my mouth which was disappointing.

My experience was fine. I guess I really don't have anything to complain about. The room was clean, comfortable, the staff was lovely, good location and awesome pools but I just felt like for me personally there was something missing. Maybe it was so big I felt lost? It was lacking charm. Would have been nice if one of the staff members knew my name. This might be the result of paying the lowest rate possible but my room didn't have a bathtub, only a shower. There was no coffee maker which seemed standard. Clearly I'm knit-picking here and it really was a fine experience.

great grounds and beach area that is well serviced. Clean rooms but note that there are 4 buildings in this hotel. I stayed in the one that starts with an 's ' (obviously forgot the full name) so any comments about the room, which was nice with good view, only relate to that building. It would be worth your while to inquire of there is any disparity in room quality in the dofferent buildings. The gym is good as far as hotel gyms go but was lacking a true free-weight squat rack and bench press. They have a smith machine, but don't seem to realize how unsafe these are for most exercises. Also don't have dumb bells past 85 lbs or so. I know this doesn't impact all users, but dumb bells are a one time investment that basically last forever, so no reason not to have up to 120 or so. Short cab ride to the heart of south beach which is nice.

Experience it. Beautiful people. Classy. Quality everything. People watching dream. Oh, you'll pay for it, but it's worth it. Best New York Strip at hotel steakhouse that I've had in years. Get the double Mai Tai at the pool and the Piña Colada at the beach. Blue Bar is a fine place to have a Bloody Mary and listen to classic music. The kids were about to take over the hotel with a concert, but when they aren't there it is class MIAMI Beach.

Ladies will have the most fun mainly because everything is free. A day bed will run you $200 for the day. Attractive young women in a group it's free. We met up a group of girls and literally everything from food to drinks was comp. LIV (the club) for hotel guest is non existent as a amenity, so if your going for that reason don't bother it's the worst staff ever to get around! We end up paying 3k for a table for 2 attacked by promoter and less than attractive females drinking our booze. Don't pay parking there's a lot 2 blocks away after 6pm it's free. $10 a day max in meters

Pool area and staff more concerned with VIP's and private parties , Only one place in the morning to buy over priced coffe in the hotel . Lastly - we ate dinner at one of their chef inspired restaurants - like so many of these places , once the chef - trains the staff and leaves , each day the recipe and presentation spiral downward .

The Fountainbleau is truly a beautiful resort with top notch facilities and a great location. It has a wide variety of restaurants and several very nice shops. The pools, surrounding areas and beach are lovely. The one area we found lacking however was with the service in some of the restaurants and on the beach and pool areas. Although our servers were very nice and apologetic, we got a bit tired of hearing "I'm really sorry, it's busy" especially when paying $$$$ with gratuity automatically included

My stay was very very good, i really enjoyed myself with my wife at this location, the only problem I had during my stay was a family with a new born baby was in the opposite room onside from me & the baby cried up a storm for 2 nights straight witch cause me to loose valuable sleep, other than that the service was great as also along with my stay was decent, I rate a overall 8 do to this was a vacation for rest & I couldn't rest do to the baby but it was quite understand once they left but it was going on my last day of stay!!

This is an exceptional resort for those not traveling on a budget. At check-in they were upgraded from a Jr. Suite to a One Bedroom Suite. What a great room. The bedroom and bathroom were spacious, but it was the living area that was exceptional. The beach and city views from the large balcony weren't too bad either! My opening "budget" remark reflects the price of food and everything else at the resort. With that said, every meal during our stay was wonderful. Our lunches at Le Cote were some of the best meals we had. They stay open late into the afternoon if you want a lovely early dinner. The execution of the menu never disappointed. Blade has great sushi and both of the Michael Mina restaurants rose to the occasion. Tip: The best deal for drinks and delicious appetizers is Mina's 74. Social Hour is from 6 to 8PM with $8 top shelf cocktails, complimentary snacks and the seafood/shellfish offerings are a must try. There are a number of pools, with offerings for all ages. The main pool, the bowtie pool, is at the center of it all. Get there before 8AM to get a lounge chair set-up, then go have breakfast. The poolside service is great and if you are lucky your pool attendant on one of your days will be 'Jane'. She was the friendliest and most attentive of the servers we had during our six day stay. Mid-week days are best for those wanting a quiet stay. On Friday-Sunday the pool area has a DJ from noon until closing. It is still family friendly, and is a lot of fun!

From the Cabana staff, to the housekeepers that put my make-up all organized on my vanity, to the sparkles in the pool at night that I could see from my balcony, the Fountainebleau has become our favorite vacation spot ever!

When we checked in they upgraded us to a suite and it was beautiful very elegant . The restaurants are fabulous the pool and beach were very nice and I'm Definately going back this summer loved it!!! Try it you won't be sorry

Our stay was amazing. From the minute we checked in Raciel upgrated our room to a suite and we knew it was going to be a great trip!! The staff is so friendly and the hotel/rooms are so clean!!

Overpriced (thirty five dollars for sunblock), no in-room coffee (a pot delivered is ten dollars and takes 45 minutes), Noisy - (music blaring at poolside and incessant traffic sirens), Overcrowded (hard to get a chair at pool or beach and they're packed like sardines), valet to get car can take a half hour. Virtually no water activities (jet skis only). Property is so huge it is tedious to get around. Disappointing overall.
