The Angels Share Hotel is conveniently located within 2 minutes walk from Princess Street and Rose Street, making it one of the most convenient locations in Edinburgh. Also within walking distance is the Edinburgh Castle, and the Royal Mile, both good sources of entertainment and education. The room was on the small side but very clean and well maintained, […] the bed comfy. Parking was somewhat of a nuisance and expensive (had to park in an offsite garage, cost $24 for one night). The bar is well stocked with a variety of drafts and the staff was very friendly and helpfull starting with the pregnant girl who offered to help with the luggage and ending with the bartender. Didn't dine at the restaurant hotel, but right nexct to it there is a celler restaurant that's quite nice. I would give it 5 stars if it wasn't for the parking situation. Read more

Looking at the photos, I did not expect my room to be SO cramped. I know rooms are usually smaller in the UK, but this was crazy. It would be so bad if things were a bit more up-to-date and cleaner. I was just there to sleep, wasn't the end of the world.

Not being from the city, and not knowing the lay out, it was hard to find, especially with the construction in the area -even wile using a GPS. Staff was very... unhelpful at arrival and check in. The elevator was slow, and couldn't fit two people with two bags easily. The room was oddly shaped - which is no problem - with extremely high ceilings. The […] couch and bed were comfortable, the chairs not so much. The "honor" bar was not very honorable (appears either the last guest didn't report what they used, or the staff failed to restock). The internet dongle in the room was broken and the guest welcome sheet has misinformation on it regarding the internet. Staff was slow and unhelpful in regards to this. And bar was over priced. Pros: Great location, walking distance to many of the city's sites. Free WiFi. Friendly, helpful staff. Cons: We had a tiny room, barely room to walk around the bed. The bed was very uncomfortable, cheap mattress and rough sheets. No parking available and local parking is very expensive.

The whole hotel made me question where all those stars had come from, as the lift was not accessible (stairs led to the rooms), the decor was bad quality, bad taste and used on the whole. The room looked depressing and run down, moldy faucets, chipping windows, disgusting tub with some red marks on the bottom, on the whole I got the impression that […] they gave up on this place a while ago. And if this had not been enough, it turned out that there was a club just below our window, with loud music thumping away until 3 am. I tried asking for another room, but they said that they only have ones on the exact same side of the building, so it would not make sense to move. It was very clear that this was a complaint that they have been getting on a daily basis. I tried to calm myself with a cup of tea, which I found after a hunt tucked away in a shelf in the wardrobe. As a result of skillful maneuvers, I managed to take the electric kettle out of there, which was partially filled with stagnant water, only to notice that there was no caffeine free option among the teabags, in fact, there was no variety at all. In any case, the whole hotel was a nightmare and I felt cheated out of my money and my much needed rest, giving me a bitter aftertaste of my otherwise wonderful trip to Scotland. Read more

I chose this hotel for it's location. The location is great but the hotel is just OK. The rooms are dark and we have had difficulty in having them get the the room clean. This was finally taken care of by front desk manager, Mike. He was so apologetic and embarrassed at our polite he offered us an upgraded room, but by then it was our last night we […] declined, he then insisted we have a breakfast on him, which we accepted. At checkout we told Mike that we had two breakfasts, he said they are on us for your inconvenience. If you are looking for Kleenex, bring your own. If you are looking for Sky news it is not available in the room. There are five stations, two BBC and others that are not worth watching. If you need a shower cap, bring your own or pay 50 pence ($1.35USD) at the front desk. We ware in 201 over the street and pub. Noise from both will keep you awake until 3am. Overall it was brilliant, great value for money in a central location. However, I had a street front room and I was quite noisy at night and the windows rattled...this may just be a reflection of a big city. This did not spoil the visit, I would definitely stay again.

When I arrived at the hotel I was not happy to find that there was no parking facility and that I had to park in a multi storey which cost me £38 over night and meant that I had a 10 minute walk to the hotel. On arrival I had to wait in reception for 20 minutes before anyone checked me in as reception was not manned. The room itself was very well decorated […] but it was cold and the noise from outside meant that I had very little sleep! Up until 2am there was lots of noise from people and then at 3am a refuge collection lorry was revving and making noise and then at 7am the noise started again, so I had very little sleep. Good service (allowed us to use a room before check in time to change for a wedding), modern rooms, very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was also nice. Only one slight problem was that builders opposite our room started up at about 8am. Don't suppose that's the hotels fault though!

I had to request a change of room as the first one had a very small bed and I'm 6'3. The second room was better but the noise from the building site outside my room made being in it during the day not a pleasant experienc. Also, there were no net curtains meaning that every builder on the worksite could see straight into my room. There were also about 20 laundry bagss full of dirty towels left by the lift for about 18 hours meaning that you couldnt realy use the lift withour moving them yoursef. The only other downside is that the hotel os not very practical getting in and around it with cases. Heavy smmall glass doors at the front were very difficult to get through with a large case and whilst there is a small lift there are steps to the rooms once you get on the right floor. Read more

TV didn't work, the room wasn't particularly welcoming and their was a horrible noise of construction each morning starting pre 9am. The ear plugs and irrelevant warning of 'vibrant Edinburgh' were like plasters (or bandaids for my transatlantic cousins) on broken legs! Would not recommend it, nor do I intend on returning.

This hotel had a great location that was good for us. We booked on a discounted rate that was fair for the hotel and room. Good place for breakfast over the road at Ryan's and a few good bars nearby. We stayed sun-thurs and bar some building work nearby it wasn't too noisy overnight.l despite the central location.

The reception were not very welcoming or friendly, The tv never had a lot of channels to choose from, our hair dryer wasn't working in out room, we had come back from being out at 9am to the cleaners just getting in out room at 3pm, over all the room was lovely, clean and comfortable, I would recommend anyone to stay with this hotel.

I had a fantastic stay at this Hotel, the only draw back was the lack of parking in the area. The parking that was available wasn't cheap. We only stayed 2 nights but ended up paying over £50 for parking.

Ear plugs provided for noise. Constant street noise from back alleyway. Had requested a quiet room when I realised from internet comment, post booking, that this was a potential problem. If Room 304 is the quietest in the hotel then I am sorry for the other guests.Ear plugs provided but if air conditioning had been effective ( small rotating fan provided) […] we could have closed the window. Broken phone (which possibly had been for some time). No instructions for working TV which would have been useful ( switched off at back of TV) since no way of contacting reception. Broken bath plug.
