It was a nice hotel that offered a kitchen for making your own meals. I found it very relaxing and close to down town area.

This hotel was nice, the greeting staff were very nice, courteous and helpful. The room was great, big. Small kitchenette, dining table and chairs, reading leather chairs, and a comfy king sized bed. I have stayed at Helm's Inn twice and have been very pleased both times. The location is perfect for walking downtown, to the park, to the beach, or just around the beautiful neighborhoods. But they also have parking if you need a car. There is no restaurant on sight but there are plenty within walking distance. Staff attentive, friendly and accommodating. Small intimate feeling. All special requests made when booking the room were honored. Well located. Reasonable walk from Victoria Clipper dock but a bit of a challenge if you have substantial luggage (Taxi fare-$7.50). Close to Inner Harbor, near down town district, auto rental agencies a couple blocks away […] and across the street from Beacon Hill Park with beautiful trails to the eastern island shore. This hotel was really a pleasant surprise. I took the ferry from Seattle to Victoria and this hotel was so conveniently located that I could walk to everything. The room was very large with a full kitchen so I could eat in if I chose to do so. I loved it and would definitely stay there again.

This was our second visit to Helms Inn and we definitely would stay there again. We love to walk, and it was easy to get to downtown locations in Victoria. Our recently refurbished room was very comfortable as well as being very attractive. The staff was helpful and accommodating.

Helms Inn is a great place to stay when visiting Victoria. It is conveniently located to the ferry and all downtown attractions. The only complaint about our stay was on one day when insufficient towels were supplied and we had to ask for more. But we received an immediate response for our request for more towels.

I loved this hotel. It was quiet and clean. In walking distance to everything in town but just far enough away from the busy streets that it was peacful and quiet. The beautiful park across the street was perfect for a morning jog and an evening stroll.

We loved having not just a microwave but fully functional kitchen, and we were right next to the museum and so close to the inner harbor. Can't ask for more. It's not all brand spanking new, but that mattered less to us that the opportunity to have what was essentially an apartment for so reasonable a cost.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Helms. The hotel across the street was full so we booked at the Helms for a lower rate expecting less. However, we later remarked that we were happier at the Helms than we would have been inn the high rise. What an absolute gem! Very central to the Inner Harbor area (just a few blocks away), so you can walk all day but you're never very far from home. The beautiful Beacon Hill Park was kitty corner across the street. The hotel is very home-like, clean and neat, with friendly staff and always a good morning or good evening. I think we were upgraded, as […] we had a room with a FULL kitchen when we were only expecting a 'fridge and microwave, and we were so appreciative of that. The beds were comfortable, the maids did a great job keeping everything clean, and we had a wonderful stay. I think the only thing we might nitpick about is the traffic noise, but that was really only during the day, the nights were quiet and peaceful. Bot the shower drain was so clogged with hair deep down into the pipes that it wouldn't drain until I pulled all that gunky stuff out bit by bit with my hands. Not pleasant! We always stay at the Helm's Inn when in Victoria. Loved the one bedroom suite when we stayed with another adult relative -- the sleeper sofa worked great. Having a small kitchen makes snacks and breakfast convenient. Walk to everything. Nice accommodation, quiet, attractive decor, friendly staff, and the perfect location.

My friend and I went up to Victoria for a mini vacation on a pretty small budget. The inn looks kind of cheap on the outside, but as soon as you step in, it's spotless and welcoming. We loved the location of this hotel. It is not in the heart of downtown but is basically the centrally located to Beacon Hill Park which leads to a wonderful trail along side the ocean (perfect if you want to go for a run or walk), the downtown area, the wharf area (highly recommend Red Fish Blue Fish if you like fish n chips - it's not a restaurant […] - more like a shack w/ unusal seating), the Parliament Building and the Empress. Honestly, I don't think I'd want to be in the downtown area anyway - way too many buses. The hotel was nicely updated as well. Parking can get busy - we noticed by 9pm all the spaces would be taken. The low price and very convenient location make Helm's Inn a good bargain. Amenities are mostly basic, but rooms (at least my room) include a full kitchen, and the front desk staff were very friendly. Parking cost extra.

Very knowledgeable and friendly reception desk. The roon was very clean. The water pressure in the shower was fantastic! We were able to easily walk to all the shops and restaurants on and off of Government street. We would definitely return to this hotel.

This was our first trip to Canada and on the suggestion of a friend we changed our itinerary so we could spend more time in Victoria. Good decision! When we needed to stay two nights rather than one, Hotels.com accommodated the change without a problem. We originally had reservations at another facility but adding another day would have significantly […] increased the second day rate. The Hotels.com rep gave us the Helms Inn as a second choice and it worked out great. The exterior of the motel is quirky as the rooms are spread through three different buildings - all with different architecture and age. Our room was on the third floor of the Royale building at the end of the hall on the corner. Everything in the building had been remodeled - new paint, flooring and windows, granite counter tops, nice new kitchen. The staff was very helpful and the location - next to the Victoria Museum of Natural History and a half block from the Parliament building, the waterfront and Beacon Hill Park (do not neglect this amazing and beautiful attraction!) - was beyond reproach.
