"Across from Beacon Hill Park"
We enjoyed our stay in Victoria at the Helm's Inn. Especially convenient for an extended stay is the washer and dryer off the lobby. The Beacon Hill Park across from the inn is beautiful. Downtown and waterfront attractions are an easy walk while bus stops to further out attractions are only a block from the inn.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Excellent Hotel - Well-Priced, Well-Located"
Been here several times before. Very well located - 2 blocks from Inner Harbor. Rooms are not fancy but are large and comfortable. Had a one bedroom suite with full kitchen. Staff are friendly and accommodating.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Space & convenience"
Excellent location for visiting Victoria. Suites are perfect for a short of longer stay. Very comfortable beds. Staff was extremely helpful and friendly.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Cheap and cheerful city centre spot"
Helms Inn is an older hotel and it feels like it. No elevators, fixtures are very old, corridors are narrow, etc. However, it's perfectly adequate, our room was large and had a little kitchen, and it's probably the best deal for it's location - a two minute walk to the inner harbour. Just don't expect luxurious or modern accommodations.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
We loved the Helms Inn. Our room was large, quiet, and had a nice little kitchen. Very clean and airy, with a comfortable bed. The staff was very helpful, and the parking was convenient. The best? The LOCATION! we could walk to everything--the marina, downtown, restaurants, etc., including a lovely park right across the street. At such a reasonable […] price, we couldn't ask for anything better. Loved it! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
We stayed at Helms Inn several years ago and it was nice enough that we decided to stay there again. We were thrilled to see they'd updated the rooms so it was better than ever! The location is great, the staff were friendly and helpful and the apartment-style room couldn't have been better. We'll definitely be back!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Close to All Must See Sights"
This was a great value and ideally located in Victoria. Watch out for the raccoons.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Impressed Near the Empress"
This was a swell little hideaway near everything. If you are leaving early to catch the Coho, watch out for the raccoon family begging at the back door.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"it's close to everything"
excellent location. clean. large rooms. i loved the kitchenette feature. helpful staff. it was a 5 minute walk to the pacific coach lines drop off/pick up. i'd stay here again and leave the car at home next time. only thing i wish was having a card key as opposed to a key-like device for the rooms instead.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Our stay was lovely. The room was apartment-like and quite cozy with a quiet location. We would stay here again!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"so comfy and artsy"
the rooms were sooo nice and clean, modern and comfy. the front desk man was super friendly and helpful and fun. it was a great hotel in the heart of everything and next to parks, the ferry and much more. def want to come again!Genuine Expedia guest review
"A sweet small hotel"
We stayed at this hotel for 5 nights and we liked it a lot. The location is excellent to many places. It is clean as well. Parking is reasonable and the staff helped me to find a spot to park when the lot was full one night. It is also cross the street from the Beacon Hill Park so we did running in the mornings. We will definitely stay thereGenuine Expedia guest review
"Great homey hotel near Victoria's main drag."
We loved our stay at the Helms Inn. We stayed 10 days in Victoria. The purpose of our trip was to reconnect with 2 children & 5 grand kids we had not seen in 10 years!! Although all the kids were not in our room, it was great to be right next to the museum & so close to downtown & fisherman's wharf. As 1 daughter came in from near Langford, the son […] from Sooke, with spouses & kids. We could leave our car & walk to meet them or get picked up easily. In previous reviews I had read things like musty smell, no elevator, etc. The hotel smelled like a home to me! No dank dirty moldy smell or heavy cooking smells. You could tell the baths had been updated & kitchen was great for efficiency! I had never seen one in the USA with a stove & full size fridge. Just mini fridge & hot plate!! The only addition I would make is a few hooks on back of bathroom door to hang robes, etc. Maybe a few more clothes hangers for guests staying a longer time then a few days. It wasn't mentioned, that I saw, that there is a daily parking fee. But it was minimal & didn't bother us. But I know some people like to plan out all their expenses to the penny. Wonderful hotel! We would definitely stay there again and refer it to friends. The location was wonderful, and the room was roomy and clean. We were glad there was a laundry facility and parking.Genuine Expedia guest review

very good location to visit the must-see sights in Victoria. very clean and well maintained. It also has kitchen to cook your breakfasts.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great location and price"
The Helms is a very nice hotel located walking distance from the Inner Harbor. The room was cllean, comfy, and very well laid out. The only thing I would improve on is the pillows, they are too soft for me. Overall I would recommend to anyone and would stay again, but I'd bring my own pillow.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Quiet and comfortable"
Have stayed here many times and love the quiet neighborhood feel. Close to the Provincial Museum and totem park, an easy walk from the ferry. Helpful staff who recommended eating places and allowed us to check in early after a morning arrival by ferry. Breakfast places 2 blocks away that were quite good but the option of having even a continental breakfast […] at the hotel would have been nice. Will stay here again! Great location! Five min. Walk from inner harbor. Across the street from Beacon Hill Park. Modern, clean and very comfortable with kitchenette.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
We were pleasantly surprised as to how nice, clean, convenient and friendly this reasonably-priced Inn was. We walked from the Seattle Clipper easily to the Inn - and could walk everywhere from there as well. The Beacon Hill Park (kitty-corner from the Helms Inn) is a lovely place for an early morning or late afternoon stroll. We will definitely come […] again and encourage our friends as well. "Excellent Location for Reasonable Price"
I was really pleased for the location of the Helms Inn. It is very close to the harbor and the Museum of British Columbia, as well as a large municipal park. The facilities themselves (at least our room) were in very good condition. My biggest complaint is what can only be described as the bizarre location of our room. There were plenty of rooms located […] in more "traditional" parts of the hotel. Ours was located right off the lobby. The door to our room was sandwich in between the public bathroom and the lobby vending machines. It really limited our privacy. We had been concerned about noise, but it turned out not to be an issue. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Great location, great service."
Helms Inn, Greetings and thank you. Your Hotel was just lovely, and we could walk to all the "Hot" spots, right from our room. We plan to visit again next year. Again, thank you for a wonderful stay. Sincerely, The Olson'sGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Very convenient to downtown and the park."
Very kid friendly staff and a good family stay. Beacon Park is just across the street, the RBC Museum is in the back yard and and downtown starts a block away. Victoria is great for families- lots of kid activities. Helms Inn staff were very nice, the room amenities were apartment-like and everything was clean and fresh. THe only downside is the age […] of the buildingings. They're very well maintained, but the walls and floor/ceilings were old style thin. The first night and morning were a bit noisy overhead, but the rest of our stay was fairly quiet. With our 4 and 5 yr old boys in the room, I hope our neighbors thought the same. "Very convenient location"
Very good.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
We had the smallest size room. It was a little cramped. Had a king bed, kitchen with 2 burner stove, small refrigerator, sink, and dishes. Hotel is in a great location, 2 blocks from the inner harbor, next to the BC Museum and Beacon Hill park, and walking distance to many restaurants and shops.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great location, friendly staff"
My wife and I stayed for three nights prior to heading to Vancouver for Canada Day. First off, the location is perfect. It's right across the street from a large park, and within easy walking distance to the waterfront, and downtown areas, along with being a block from the Royal BC Museum and the buses to Butchart/etc. The staff was very friendly, and […] they easily dealt with a problem with our reservation dates. Although it's an older building, the room had newer furnishings. It was much larger than we expected, with a king bed and small kitchen. The only minor complaints I have are that the bed was only moderately comfortable, and the showerhead was one of those old designs which don't spread the water very well (and tend to waste water). Overall, though, a great place to stay. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice hotel close to major attractions"
We stayed at the hotel for three nights. We were pleasantly surprised by its location – it was close to major attractions and bus stop (so we took a bus from Tsawwassen ferry terminal and to Butchart Gardens as we traveled without a car). Our room had full kitchen and nice view at the park.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Lovely quiet and convenient hotel"
My husband and I took the ferry and bus to Victoria, no car. This hotel was a quick 2 blocks from main charter bus station in town. It is 5 min walk from Parliament Building and downtown Victoria. It's on a quiet beautiful street. They have free coffee and tea and apples in lobby. The kitchen was great as we ate several meals in our room. There was […] a table with four chairs and separate sleeping room from living/kitchen area. There is a full grocery store about 12 min walk and we loaded up on breakfast and dinner foods. We had a toaster, microwave, stovetop, and toaster oven as well as coffee machine. The staff was friendly and very helpful. We would definitely stay there again. The fixtures were a little dated, but clean and functional. It is a great home base for exploring the lovely Vancouver Island. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
What a pleasant surprise this place was! Great location easy walking distance to the wharf/downtown but in a quiet residential area. We were concerned when we saw our room was off the driveway and sort of in the basement but inside, a gem with wood floors, nice kitchen, separate living and sleeping with door that closed! Couch in front room converted […] to bed. The four of us were very comfortable and only regretted we did not stay longer! Excellent value! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

Great location, only a block from Empress and Parliament. Suggest middle building where rooms have kitchenettes and patio/balcony. Staff was great and room was very comfortable. Considering everything, this hotel offers great value.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Helm's Inn a Great Choice!"
Location, location, location, plus great amenities. Walking distance to ferry, downtown Victoria, and Beacon Hill Park, and Thrifty Food Market (nice!). Would definitely stay here again! Room choices with two double beds or a king, plus a kitchenette and tiny patio. Only negative was that the "living room" was a bit dark, and the pillows not terribly […] comfy. Minor issues compared to the over all quality and great price ($118 night). Service with a smile and sense of humor. Got everything I requested online- two rooms adjacent to each other on the first floor of middle building near the back- quiet location. I researched heavily on TripAdvisor and was not disappointed! "Nicely renovated inside - friendly staff"
Great value in a great location. Although the hotel is older, it has been recently renovated inside, so my room and the front lobby were really nice, more like a 4 star hotel. It could use some refreshing on the outside, but overall I was quite pleased, given the cost compared to other choices.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice location, especially for the price."
This hotel is located on the same block as the Royal B.C. museum, within walking distance of the local attractions. For the location, the price is very hard to beat. The facilities and staff were great, though the room was a bit cramped. Kitchenette includes basic dishes and cooking utensils. Again, unbeatable for its price.Genuine Expedia guest review

"A quiet homey hotel close to harbor attractions"

"Clean, Big, Comfortable place to spread out"
This hotel was nice, the greeting staff were very nice, courteous and helpful. The room was great, big. Small kitchenette, dining table and chairs, reading leather chairs, and a comfy king sized bed. Some things are a little out dated but it is not noticeable as they go well with the cottage decor. Would much rather stay here than the Executive, or […] Bed ford Regency. The location is right next to the bus stop, restaurants, the parliament building, the inner harbor, and it all. A good value/quality to cost ratio! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great for the Price"
Close to all the sights in Victoria. At first glance, Helm's Inn looks a little seedy, but the inside was in good condition. The lobby looked like it had been updated recently and so did parts of the room. The room with beds was a little cramped, but definitely great for the price. Would book again and recommend to friends and family.Genuine Expedia guest review

I have stayed at Helm's Inn twice and have been very pleased both times. The location is perfect for walking downtown, to the park, to the beach, or just around the beautiful neighborhoods. "Well located in Victoria"
Staff attentive, friendly and accommodating. Small intimate feeling. All special requests made when booking the room were honored. Well located. Reasonable walk from Victoria Clipper dock but a bit of a challenge if you have substantial luggage (Taxi fare-$7.50).
