"Great place to stay1"
I arrived on the ferry from Port Angeles in the morning and headed straight to the hotel. They locked up my bags and offered me information on Victoria and the surrounding area as well as a cup of tea! The staff was very helpful. our room was superb, the location is great for walking being less than 3 blocks from the museum, the Empress Hotel as well […] as Beacon Hill (across the street). Restaurants and shopping are in easy walking distance and the ferry is about 4 blocks away. Great time! Thank you! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
I have stayed at Helm's Inn twice and have been very pleased both times. The location is perfect for walking downtown, to the park, to the beach, or just around the beautiful neighborhoods. But they also have parking if you need a car. There is no restaurant on sight but there are plenty within walking distance. The staff were always pleasant and helpful. […] The housekeeping staff were very helpful and were happy to do as much or little as you needed on your schedule. The apartments were very clean and had what I needed. "Well located in Victoria"
Staff attentive, friendly and accommodating. Small intimate feeling. All special requests made when booking the room were honored. Well located. Reasonable walk from Victoria Clipper dock but a bit of a challenge if you have substantial luggage (Taxi fare-$7.50). Close to Inner Harbor, near down town district, auto rental agencies a couple blocks away […] and across the street from Beacon Hill Park with beautiful trails to the eastern island shore. Tidy, well appointed but bathroom cramped, and furniture arrangement awkward. More operable window needed. Top floor interior room quiet. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Beautiful room and great location!"
This hotel was really a pleasant surprise. I took the ferry from Seattle to Victoria and this hotel was so conveniently located that I could walk to everything. The room was very large with a full kitchen so I could eat in if I chose to do so. I loved it and would definitely stay there again.Genuine Expedia guest review
As others have mentioned, this was really a great find! So close to everything, yet quiet. Best of all were the beds - they were so comfortable - even the rollaway! It is very unusual for this family to find sleeping arrangements that are as good as home! The space was ample for our family of 4 (including two 'adult' children)! The kitchenette fully […] enabled us to cook breakfast each day. The only thing we would have wanted was an extra mirrored area/desk/table for someone to use while others are using the washroom! "Perfect location for Victoria vacation"
This was our second visit to Helms Inn and we definitely would stay there again. We love to walk, and it was easy to get to downtown locations in Victoria. Our recently refurbished room was very comfortable as well as being very attractive. The staff was helpful and accommodating.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"No car needed."
Perfect location, next to the BC Museum and 2 blocks from Parliment. We walked everywhere. Roomy rooms and nice lobby and patio area to relax if needed.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Best kept secret in Victoria"
The Helm's is a lovely hotel in a very nice section of Victoria......Very close to the inner harbor and the B.C. museum. "Convenient Hotel for ferry travelers"
Helms Inn is a great place to stay when visiting Victoria. It is conveniently located to the ferry and all downtown attractions. The only complaint about our stay was on one day when insufficient towels were supplied and we had to ask for more. But we received an immediate response for our request for more towels.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great location, comfortable at a reasonable price!"
Clean, quiet, comfortable accommodations in a great location close to ferries, museum, parks, buses, and other attractions. We'd definitely stay here again!Genuine Expedia guest review
The Helms Inn was the perfect place to stay during our recent visit to Victoria. Even though it was right downtown, we weren't bothered by noise. The staff was very helpful and courteous. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The only downside is that our room had very little space around the beds, which were in a separate room from the kitchen area, […] couch/sofa bed. "Great getaway hotel"
I loved this hotel. It was quiet and clean. In walking distance to everything in town but just far enough away from the busy streets that it was peacful and quiet. The beautiful park across the street was perfect for a morning jog and an evening stroll.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Dated room in a great location"
Great location, one block from Royal BC Museum; 2 blocks from harbor; walking distance to restaurants, shopping and activities. Room was very dated except for kitchen which was modern and new. Room was clean and spacious. The plumbing was a little loud and you knew when others in the hotel were showering etc. The hotel was in the process of updating […] the beds when we were there but our was not done yet. The bedding and pillows were dated. All that said, this hotel was a great price for the location. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

We loved having not just a microwave but fully functional kitchen, and we were right next to the museum and so close to the inner harbor. Can't ask for more. It's not all brand spanking new, but that mattered less to us that the opportunity to have what was essentially an apartment for so reasonable a cost.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Beyond our expectations"
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Helms. The hotel across the street was full so we booked at the Helms for a lower rate expecting less. However, we later remarked that we were happier at the Helms than we would have been inn the high rise. The staff went out of their way to accomodate us and the room was just what we needed with a little kitchen, […] sitting area and separate bedroom. The location is terrific.... we walked to all the sites we wanted to see while in Victoria (except Bouchart Gardens which is outside of Victoria but definitely a must-see if you go). "Hidden gem in Victoria"
What an absolute gem! Very central to the Inner Harbor area (just a few blocks away), so you can walk all day but you're never very far from home. The beautiful Beacon Hill Park was kitty corner across the street. The hotel is very home-like, clean and neat, with friendly staff and always a good morning or good evening. I think we were upgraded, as […] we had a room with a FULL kitchen when we were only expecting a 'fridge and microwave, and we were so appreciative of that. The beds were comfortable, the maids did a great job keeping everything clean, and we had a wonderful stay. I think the only thing we might nitpick about is the traffic noise, but that was really only during the day, the nights were quiet and peaceful. We would definitely recommend Helm's Inn to anyone going to Victoria for a trip, it was a real home away from home for us. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Old Fashioned + Contemporary Digs"
My only two criticisms of this hotel are that the pathway into the building is poorly lit at night and parking, although reasonably priced, could be problematic if all spots are taken. Otherwise, our stay at the Helm's Inn was an absolute delight. A friend had recommended it and we were not disappointed in the least! It is a hop, skip and a jump to […] all of the most important attractions in Victoria. It is a very quiet and safe neighborhood that lends itself to leisurely walks. The room was like a self-contained apartment suite with everything you could possibly want and then some! The beds were very comfortable and I loved the windows with shutters. Noisy on Douglas St. I'd request a room in back another time. Temperature of the room was way too hot, even with thermostat turned right down....opened windows helped. Kitchen was well fitted-out. "Short walk to the City Center"
Good: Small hotel, clean room, comfortable bed and linens, older building but modernized efficiency suite with fridge, coffee and tea. Friendly staff with coffee, assortment of teas and fresh apples available in the lobby. Real easy parking. Very short distance from front desk/entrance to the rooms. 5-15 minute walk to anywhere in the Victoria downtown. […] Literally a few steps from the BC Museum, Legislature and Jazz lounge at the Grand Pacific. Also included in room rate; luggage storage and wireless internet. Internet speeds were pretty good at any time of the day as they seem to have a router dedicated to each room-which is unusual; I travel a lot and had not seen that arrangement before. Bad: exterior road noise and noise through walls and floor between the rooms. There doesn't seem to be much, if any, insulation between the walls/floors. Suite doors have no noise abatement seals, so you hear every noise and whisper in the corridor. If you are a light sleeper this is not the place for you. For this first visit I was on the second floor, facing the road intersection and between the road noise, people clomping around in the rooms above me and voices all around it might be difficult for some people to get some rest. I will definitely be going back here in the future and will try the top floor, with rooms facing the rear parking lot, which should be much quieter than rooms facing the street. "Downtown Hotel Close to Victoria's Sights"
We arrived early to find our room almost ready. After a short walk we were able to check in. We met friends staying at The Empress. We went to dinner at a restaurant within easy walking distance. A nice getaway....comfy beds and pillows...very adequate kitchen. Nice to have a separate bedroom for such a reasonable price, too. "hotel close to everything"
This was a good place to stay everything was close by. The only thing we found strange was no kettle or toaster yet had a kitchen. You could get coffee in the foyer. Good value. We are a couple of oldiesGenuine Expedia guest review
Although our room appeared to be updated, it's an old hotel with lots of cracks and creaks. Our room was ground floor with windows opening onto the parking lot, surprisingly it wasn't noisy. We go biking in the Victoria area every July. There is a locked storage area for your bike. The hotel is located next to the museum. How much closer can one be? Genuine extra service is provided! "Nice hotel close to inner harbour and beacon hill"
Booked this hotel because it's affordable and in a great location. We were surprised at how nice the rooms were when we arrived. "Great little hotel. Location can't be beat!"
We weren't expecting much because of the reviews we read. Were we pleasantly surprised! We had a nice bedroom, a kitchen that was fully equipped and a nice little den/dining area. "Comfortable, welcoming home base"
I'm not sure why the Helm's Inn only rates 2 stars because this is a nicely renovated, comfortable hotel right in the heart of Victoria! It was great to have a full kitchen to take advantage of and the king size bed in my suite was very comfortable. A shout out to Chris at the front desk, who was wonderfully professional, helpful and positive throughout […] my stay. I see lots of mentions in other reviews of the spaciousness of the rooms but mine was pretty compact, even cramped. I requested a room on the first floor but wasn't expecting to face right onto the street, OR be right off the lobby! So I would not recommend Rm 116 as it seems to be a conversion of office space into a small, oddly laid out, and noisy (street noise) room. My other complaint is that the daily housekeeping was hit and miss, with items not replenished, inconsistent service (washing the dishes, or not) and on the fourth day, my sheets were not changed as per the policy and my bathroom sink not even cleaned. Even with this complaint, though, I would still recommend Helm's - just get a quieter room facing the inner courtyard as others suggest. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
