Liked the hotel, first room, the bathroom too small for comfort. They did change our room without a problem, for a room that was slightly bigger with a larger bathroom. We were very satisfied. I would consider this hotel again. It is so close to trams and the main station. Also department store across the street. Very quiet for a downtown hotel.

The Alexander is a short walk from the train station and convenient to all the fun of the Old Town in Zurich. We were given an upgrade from the Guesthouse to the Main Hotel. Our room was clean and comfortable. We were right among the cobblestone alleys of the Old Town and only 5 minutes walk from the shopping along Bahnhofstrasse. We'll stay at the Alexander again on our next trip.

We spent two nights and enjoyed them both. We arrived early and the hotel staff was more than happy to hold our luggage and place it in the room for us so we could immediately go out and explore Lucerne. There is a bus stop right in front of the hotel and it provides convenient access to town. The hotel location is across the lake from Lucerne, but that gives you some beautiful views of the city and the surrounding mountains. Well worth not being in the hustle and bustle of a busy town. The hotel is right on the edge of Lake Lucerne.

We enjoyed our stay at the Hotel des Alpes. The location was perfect - near to the train station and right across from the covered bridge. The city was very charming. Excellent hotel in a location convenient to shops, restaurants, and public transport. Be sure to reserve a room on the river side. Beautiful views. The room was quite comfortable. Not large, as you would expect, and the bathroom is small, but very modern and nice. We will definitely stay again.

The Hotel was in a great location and the rooms were clean and not too small, but the lack of aircondition and air circulation made it very difficult place to stay. I would look for another hotel unless you are not traveling in the summer

Lovely hotel. Only downside was our shower varied from either boiling hot or freezing cold and when i brought it the the attention of the duty manager he told me there was nothing wrong with the shower!

My wife and I stayed in this well located hotel for two nights in September 2010. It is well located on the riverfront, although access to the hotel itself is via the street behind. The Hotel front is mainly shared with its restaurant, but the outlook is very pretty and its was lovely to have breakfast sitting on the terrace overlooking the old covered […] bridge, and the surrounding mountains. We arrived by train, had a short 5minute walk from the train station which was fine apart from the cobblestones. The area was buzzing with tourists, and we felt completely safe. The hotel staff was helpful, tolerant of our poor German and French, but spoke very capable English. The room was not large with a compact bathroom but had everything we needed including coffee and tea making facilities. We even had a separate balcony area with a small table and chairs overlooking the old town. Overall this hotel suited our needs for a base for touring Lucerne and the lake/mountains for a couple of days, was centrally located and easy enough to access. Read more

We found the hotel to be fabulous. Our room has a spectacular view of the river, lake and mountains. The room was spacious and clean. The bathroom was modern and roomy. We were especially happy with the desk clerk who kindly made a dinner recommendation and reservation for us at a wonderful fondue restaurant nearby. He also was happy to provide answer […] any questions we had during our stay. The location was perfect for sightseeing as we could walk everywhere easily. The train station is just across the bridge. Von einigen Zimmern hat man eine wunderbare Aussicht auf die Reuss, den See und die Kappelbrücke. Nachts ist es aber leider etwas laut, vorallem am Wochenende (Partygänger).
