Outrigger Aina Nalu - Lahaina

We've stayed at the Aina Nalu before and had better rooms. I thought we were getting a 2 bedroom 2 bath and ended up being placed in only a 1 bath. The unit had ants in the kitchen and the AC units were so loud. I was grateful for clean rooms and decent staff.

My wife and I renewed our vows at Mekana Surf beach on this trip. We try to spend all of our anniversaries on Maui. We found Aina Nalu accidentally a few years ago and never been disappointed since. The salt water pool in back is the best in the world.

Very nice would stay again if not for the Internet, which is a joke. We had to go to Starbucks to get reception. Fix that problem people! Parking is $15.00 per day and that adds up quickly. You can park on the street for free.

Originally booked a studio and it did not have a full size bed. It was like a twin bed set sideways against the wall. It was only about 4 feet from the headboard to the end of the bed. Love Aina Nalu. It was clean and mostly well equipped. However, some of the check-in staff were rude to mainlanders, not even making eye contact or raising their heads from work to answer a question. Others, like the security and housekeeping staff were amazing and friendly. Unfortunately, my family of six arrived to an inadequate fridge and a broken […] dryer. It took two days to have the front desk staff appropriately respond and send a repair person, while we worried about our food spoiling. The fold out couch bed was awful, even after placing it on the floor. Reported this unit, (as rented to a family of six), needed a new mattress and larger more powerful fridge/freezer. The main pool was closed on our last two days for maintenance. Bad timing for our kids. Overall, we would stay there again for sure. Loved that it was within easy walking distance of Lahaina. We loved everything about this hotel. The location is perfect, it's 5 min walking to the center of Lahaina. The gardens, decoration, maintenance were all perfect. We didn't want to pay an extra parking fee so we parked on the street just outside the hotel entrance. Finding a space wasn't an issue at all. Beautiful gardens and pool area. The 1 bedroom condo was well appointed and clean. If you're a light sleeper or dislike sunlight streaming in your bedroom I'd not recommend. Louvre windows are not very sound proof. Highlight windows without coverings in bedroom, poor design. If you sleep like a log highly recommend. Close to shops, cinemas.

I requested a lanai at the time of reservation but did not get it. Also no maid service during the three night stay. Fortunately, I did not need it. However the hotel is beautiful with lovely landscaping and pool area. I recommend it for everyone visiting Maui.

This is the 2nd year in a row that we have vacationed in Maui and stayed at the Aina Nalu. The location is so perfect! It is 3 short blocks from Front Street where you can find restaurants and shops. Just a short drive to multiple amazing beaches and the 2 pools are wonderful if you just want to hang out at the hotel. The room had very nice amenities. We had a 1 bedroom suite, w/a sofa bed. The washer/dryer in the room was very convenient. Nicely decorated inside. Exterior seemed more like a worn wooden lodge and interior was asian-inspired clean lines. Since it's not a 'hotel,' you don't get daily room service (which is fine). But I wish I didn't have to constantly […] ask for more laundry detergent almost every day. They put 2 single use packs in the room. We stayed there for 7 days and ran a couple loads of laundry almost daily (you have to with a small child). Another small gripe -- the Outrigger gives out a reuseable bag for guests (nice touch) and an 'explorer kit' for kids ages 5-10. My daughter is 2 months shy of 5 yrs and they refused to give her the kit. I know it's petty, but they really didn't need to be such sticklers about it. Read more

While a decent place to stay, the parking issue is an absolute rip off. Your renting a condo, there are tons of parking spots on the property for the condo's. Yet they want to charge you $ 15.00 dollars a night to park. Or take a chance on the street's around the area. So go grocery shopping and then maybe you will get to park a couple of blocks away […] and lug your groceries up stairs when you get back. 35 to 50 spots open every night on the property. The hotel rooms was fine but nothing extraordinary and certainly not a great bargain considering the service. When we arrived we were informed parking was $15 per day at the hotel, which was a little surprising! $15 per day to park our car near our room - seemed a little 'gotcha!'ish. Also informed when we arrived that there is no daily maid service, […] so if you need more towels or linens we can schedule time to have yours laundered. Room was okay, was 'clean' when we arrived, i.e. clean towels, clean toilet, clean linens, but was not cleaned by what I would call a professional: there were several areas that needed vacuuming, dusting or scrubbing more thoroughly. We were disappointed in the check-in experience. The staff was inundated with guests and seemed unable to handle the task. We were kept waiting over 45 min. Then, given what was the wrong condo, a 2 bedroom, rather than 1 bedroom with sleeper, I had reconfirmed the day before arrival, but, the error resulted in our being locked out of the given condo, […] with no apology or adjustment to the inconvenience. After a long journey, we had quickly left the premises for a late dinner thinking that the long wait for check in resulted in an upgrade. This would have been something we would enjoy from a top rated hotel etc. We were made to feel it was our error and our dismay was dismissed without even an apology. The security staff dressed as police approached us at the pool with questions regarding our room #, # in our party, name etc. It seems the wristband ID could be handled easily at check in without making the guest feel unwelcome around the premises. We did not receive any wristbands/ID at check in, unaware that we would be suspect sitting at poolside like an interloper. Read more
