Good location, but hotel is not a "boutique" hotel. Worn rooms and is above a busy street. Room was Advertised as a Admiral Suite, with separate sitting area. More like one room with a worn couch.

From my first steps through the main lobby I was not only greeted with friendly attitudes and faces, but also I was offered complimentary beverages from the bar across from the reception desk. The internet was readily available throughout our entire stay, both in the lobby and the room, and the quality was good enough to maintain Skype conversations. […] The staff was very knowledgeable about where to go for what kind of occassion and had a vast array of ideas to keep us occupied throughout our stay in Malta. Would HIGHLY recommend it as the Hotel Juliani is all about customer satisfaction. There was a delay in our room being ready for check-in at around noon and, at 3pm, when we came by to check in again, they had upgraded us to a Seaview Junior Suite. We loved nearly everything about this hotel, the ambience, location, staff. We paid for an upgraded room so I don't know what the others looked like. The only tiny issue was that the room smelled a little odd each time we opened the door. But everything else was perfect, including Zest Restaurant on the premises.

The view of Spinola Bay was worth it and will be a great memory for us forever. The location of the hotel was ideal, since St. Julian's is such a delightful area...pleasantly active with a lot of nice little restaurants and a nearby grocery store. Hint: the staff at Hotel Juliani can […] always call ahead for a taxi at a pre-arranged fare; getting a taxi off the street is not a pleasant ordeal, since the fares are steep, even with serious haggling! Taxi from airport to Hotel Juliani=~20 euros + tip [look for the taxi booth at the airport]; taxi from Hotel Juliani to airport=~22 euros + tip [book at hotel]. In short, wonderful hotel in a wonderful location. Get the room with the view of the bay! But, even if you don't get the room with the bay view, enjoy the rooftop pool, which has the best/highest view of the bay. Bring your camera! Also, we walked from the hotel, along the seafront, all the way to Valletta...quite a walk, but we got some excellent exercise and saw some interesting sights. Juliani's is a lovely boutique hotel, recommendable for anyone who does not want to stay in the larger chain hotels on the island; it is not quite suited for families, which we considered a plus as well. I can not say enough positive comments about Malta. The island is beautiful, clean, historic and yet still has an active night life. People were friendly and they boast a 98% literacy rate. Our hotel was in a great location. When you walk out the front door you see a beautiful bay full of local boats.

The hotel's location is excellent - it faces directly onto Spinola Bay, very close to some excellent restaurants, with a bus stop immediately outside serving all major routes round the island. Note that Google Maps gets the location wrong by about half a mile. We had a double room with a side view of the harbour, which was fine, though the view from […] the rooftop pool was impressive. The staff were very friendly; the reception staff in particular were very helpful and knowledgeable. We got automatic discounts of 10 Euros at the Zest and Barracuda restaurants, which are expensive but absolutely top notch cuisine and service, among the best on the island. The only quibble we can stretch to is that the provided breakfast is nothing exceptional, a fairly standard buffet breakfast that is arguably a little pricey at 14 Euros. WiFi is free throughout the hotel, though the signal is much better in the lobby than in the rooms. For the price, we would highly recommend the Juliani. Read more

The only downside was that the walk-in shower spread water all over the bathroom floor, as it was not possible to fit the shower curtain against a low ledge on the back wall. An unexpected treat was the community of eight feral cats who inhabited the roof opposite our window; it was a constant […] delight to watch their interactions. Breakfasts were excellent, with every taste catered for, from a full English cooked breakfast to a proper Continental one with cheeses, cold meats and pastries. Aside from the excellent location of the hotel, it's greatest asset are its employees, which is probably a reflection of its good management policy. After the challenging drive from Valetta, discovering our hotel was an absolute delight, It is difficult to find as the signage is small, and we did finally find it by parking the car and walking. It is a wonderful, European style boutique hotel, with a great restaurant, an outstanding breakfast, great parking garage, friendly staff and walking distance […] to other great restaurants. Worth paying a bit more for the suite (not that big a price difference) as our friend booked a normal room and had no window so felt closed in. I have stayed at many hotels in Malta and so far this is my favourite. It is on a bay overlooking boats and is in the best location for restaurants, bars and nightlife, cinemas etc without being in a noisy location. Free internet is a bonus and the service is excellent. Good breakfast too. The only complaint I have is the lack of individual room by […] room air conditioning controls - if the hotel chooses cool air then you can have air con off or on (same with heating) - but not a choice of heat or cooling. But that is a minor complaint. It's a brightly decorated and clean hotel, family run with good friendly personal service and makes a good change from the larger and dirtier so called 5 star hotels on the island. I will return.
