The location of this hotel is awesome but the beds are aweful. I woke up with back pain every day. The mattress made me not reccomend this hotel since there are other hotels in the same area, you can find a hotel in the same area that provides better sleeping time.

This hotel is an inexpensive place to rest your head while exploring PR. There are no frills, so don't expect any, but it's clean and located right across the street from a free, public access beach and the bus stop into Old San Juan. There's also a Walgreen's in walking distance as well as some restaurants. We walked down to them at night, though I'm […] not positive it was a "good" area at night. The only reason I say that is because we saw quite a few cops, but that's likely just them taking extra precautions to protect tourists. The pool looks really nice, though we did not have time to utilize it. Our first room did have a faulty security safe and shower, and so we had to change rooms the second day, which was a little bit of a pain, but the staff were friendly about accommodating us. Then, the second room had no wifi, but you can just go out in the hall or lobby if that happens. The continental breakfast is just that - a continental breakfast - toast, cereal, pastries, and oatmeal. Overall, a good experience. Would return if the price stays low. Read more

My wife and I went to this hotel on our 1 year anniversary and we had a fantastic stay. From the first moment we arrived the staff was friendly, fun, and a pleasure to talk to while we got everything together for our room. They didn't have the breakfast vouchers ready for us when we got our keys, but they told us that they would get them to us within […] the hour, and while my wife and I were still exploring the room, one of the staff slipped an envelope under the door with our breakfast vouchers for our entire stay. The room was huge, the refrigerator was cold, the bathroom was cleaned spotlessly every single day. Our beds were made quickly, and not once did I ever notice any of my possessions even out of place, with the exception of our toothbrushes, which the maid placed symmetrically along the side of the sink. The in room electronic safe worked fantastic and I never felt any qualms about leaving my valuables inside of it. The picture that I added was the view from the breakfast area on the top floor. The hotel was gracious enough to let us have an early check in without the extra fee. Which helped since our flight landed at 12:45. When we got to the room, the carpet was stained (which is expected), the drapes and the bed covers look well worn as well. The TV in the room turned on and off, up and down as it pleased. So if you fell asleep with the […] TV on, you may wake up to it blasting! The pool was nice. The free breakfast in the morning left much to be desired. The oatmeal looked like soup, the OJ was warm, the cereal was stale. They even had an issue with me taking a (yes, A, as in singular, one) piece of toast down to the room for my boyfriend who wasn't feeling well that morning. The hotel does have an amazing pizza place in the lobby. Great pizza, great prices. They even let us have a late check out (1pm# and held our bags behind the desk while we walked Isla Verde Avenue one last time while waiting for our 5:55pm flight. Some parts of the hotel does have a slight mold/closed up smell and some of the fixtures could use some updating. If you get a room close to the elevator, expect to hear the elevator everytime it opens. Also, if you plan on sleeping in #past 7:30am) expect to hear housekeeping pushing their carts, talking, laughing, slaming doors, etc up and down the hall. Rhina, the bell hop, was amazing. My husband is a Navy sailor and we had a family emergency and had to fly next day to Puerto Rico to the funeral of his parents. When we arrived and checked in, we walked into one of the tiniest hotel rooms I have ever been in. Two beds were squeezed into a tiny room. I literally had to climb over my mother to get to the bathroom. Also, when I turned on the television, there was NO SERVICE!

I have stayed at Howard Johnson hotel a few times over the years during my trips to Puerto Rico but this time I didn't like it too much. First of all, the room they put us in was too small and right across from the elevator. We have a baby and needed a crib and it wouldn't of fit so well so I asked for a bigger room. They gave a bigger room (room 602) […] but the bathroom was awful. The sink counter was broken and water would seep through the crack and wet the floor. The bathroom ceiling had mold all over it and peeling and stained. I didn't want to look up when taking a shower. The toilet got clogged and I had to ask front desk to take care of that. They were nice about it and did so quickly. The hallway when you got off the elevator had a really bad old trash smell which I also told the front desk about. They freshened it up but the next day it smelled the same way. One thing that we love about this hotel is that its right across the street from the beach and that it has a parking lot with lower rates than most other hotels. Breakfast is typical continental. Stay was excellent. Service desk, Floor personell, Parking attendants, Dinning staff should all get awards for there attendance and respect to visitors. Pros to this hotel, it is across the street from the beach, the pool is nice, parking is inexpensive, it is near a couple of good restaurants and is only about a 5 - 10 minute drive from the airport, free breakfast is good and is held on the 10th floor which provides a fantastic view. Will not stay at this hotel again unless I want to go to the beach. The beach is literally across the street and beautiful. The hotel sucks. The AC is too cold and would be unbearable for a baby. The windows fog up and you must use a blow dryer to view the mirror. Guest was smoking next door which I saw from our balcony, we called the front desk several […] times to complain since the smoke was entering our room and no one picked up. Call was ignored. We knew this because we went downstairs right after and there were two people sitting at reception. Pool is nice but small. Resteraunt is not all what it seems to be. I found out that there is an ice maker but reception failed to tell us so we went without ice for the whole stay. Continental breakfast was awful. Cold coffee, no milk and just toast and a few pastries. Nothing compared to what I had before. Had to go to Burger King for breakfast. The bed was very comfortable. King size and view was great. This is not a five-star hotel, which is exactly why my friends and I picked it. It's cheap but decent and the location is quite nice. It's across the street from a beautiful beach and located in an area with many tourists because the blocks are all lined with hotels and inns (such as the swanky Intercontinental and El San Juan). There are tons of local […] restaurants around (I highly recommend Mi Casita) as well as fast food restaurants. Warning: the fast food restaurants are not fast at all. Prepare yourself for long waits. I find the area to be very safe, but it's still best to walk around with at least 1 other person at night. The men aren't shy about vocally showing their appreciation for women. And if you're Asian, you'll be getting extra looks because there are really not many Asians around at all! The hotel staff is very friendly, very patient, and always willing to help. The cleaning staff comes every morning. The free breakfast isn't incredible, but as long as it has fresh fruit and coffee, I'm happy. The hotel pool is very small but still nice if you want to go for a quick dip or want to do a little suntanning. Read more
