The worst nightmare on my traveling experience, even Egypt was better. We arrived at 3:00 to book in, there were like 60 persons ahead of us, at 7:00 pm none of us had a room we had our bracelets and signed People that checked in went for lunch and the beach returning to their rooms to find out other people already inside. People complain of no running […] water in their rooms, no bedding cloths or towels, doors that didn’t lock broken windows. No public restrooms near the beach nor the reservation facility or lobby and we were there for 4 hours waiting for an available room and 60 people ahead of us. It was already 7:00 pm and no rooms available, the hotel is in very separated area of the city, no outside lights in the parking lot, nor in the only paved road, we were afraid to be left in our cars at the last moment in the dark abandoned parking lot. This hotel was completely destroyed on an hurricane event around 4 years ago but no maintenance has been done, from comments of the native people, most of the hotel has been abandoned and with this vacation time in San Carlos the hotel managers were taking advantage of the great demand of rooms and probably at the last moment they were send whoever was left with no other option to the abandoned rooms. NO INTERNET IN THE ROOMS, NO PHONE, NO ALARM CLOCK, NO POWER OUTLETS WITH MORE THAN 2 PRONGS. The AC in my room backed up and leaked all over the floor. The hotel is gradually updating the rooms. Our maid service was fine. The main dining room buffet was quite varied and the salads were fresh and delicious.The bar restaurant was open when the main dining hall closed down for lack of sufficient guests, the wait staff was attentive and the food good- mostly catering to American taste. We rode very nice […] horses on the scenic beach.There is a lot of opportunity to walk along the sea shore-- chairs and chaises are scattered conveniently along the shore. The two pools were kept very clean. The shallow one afforded great fun for children. The hotel caters to weddings mostly on weekends.The wedding music and festivities may go on pretty late in the evening. The water pressure was low for showering. There was hot water but it took a while to warm. There is TV with arts and entertainment channel. If you drive to the harbor, nice restaurants. Couldn't go on a fishing trip this early in the season (4 minimum) The rooms are small but sufficient for a couple. The tile in the rooms and the halls was disinfected daily.We appreciated the friendly staff while dining. Some surfers with kites enjoyed the onshore breeeze. If you are looking for a US luxury hotel you will miss the beautiful craggy shore scene of San Carlos, lots of fresh air and exercise. Read more

Great location by the beach and the price was a bargain. However, the hotel does not allow coolers within the premises (the enforcement was lax for small coolers). Although the rooms lack reasonable living space for a family of four (or five), the closeness of the beach an room rate offsets these limitations.

We didn't plan to hit the beach on sunday but we finally decided to go on the last minute. Searching online we found a really good price for a two bed room on expedia (more than 50% lower than what the hotel offered on the phone or at the front desk). The hotel is nice, safe parking, really nice views, nice clean private beach, not overcrowded, staff […] is really nice, pool was clean, hotel food was really good and not expensive and there are also other restaurants nearby on the beach, in case you want to try other food. Just for being a guest you can use ammenities (pingpong table, pool table, volleyball, soccer, and other sport stuff from the hotel) Lots of activities available. As for the room, it was clean, nothing fancy, just the basics (shower, hot water, two queen size beds, view to the inside lake), sun came in nicely in the morning through the window. Cons: we got a room in the third floor, no elevator, but I for the price we paid this was acceptable. We spent the day in the private beach anyway, and we could watch the sunset all by ourselves. Restaurant staff can bring drinks to beach if requested. Our room seemed a little bit old, but they seem to be buliding new rooms and improving the look of the others. The hotel is one of the last ones on the beach, so you drive a couple more miles to get there. This is a good place to stay If you are looking for a lower price. Read more

We have stayed in many hotels in Mexico so when an earlier review said that as long as you understood Mexican hotels, you would be fine, I assumed we would. The biggest drawback in my opinion was the fact that we had paid for a better room on the ocean side and we were put on the third floor---no elevator--just alot of stone steps with no handrails. There […] was no phone in the room--it was smaller than I had expected. There were nice towels provided--no washcloths---and no way to call for any without a phone. The hotel is a former Club Med and we were issued wristbands at check-in, although nothing extra was included with them. Security was outstanding, with sentries everywhere. The Paradiso Hotel in San Carlos has an idyllic location--right on the beach facing west. The hotel is very dated and appears to be in the process of a slow renovation. The rooms were older and only fair as far as comfort. They were noisy due to kids running in the outside corridors and music filtering in from other weddings. We were at the resort for a wedding and all the dinners and a beach civil service took place at the resort. It was actually very entertaining. My friend was trying to shower and the shower head was cracked in two places.It was spewing water up to the ceiling and on the bathroom door. It eventually flooded the hall outside of the bathroom and ran out the door and left a stream to the outside patio. We went to the concierge and told them what was going on and […] to get some towels to dry everything up. They did offer to move us, but it was 11p.m. and we were only staying for one night so we declined. When they finally did bring us towels, it was a big balled up pile that were still damp. The drinks at the bar were very weak, but we paid for enough of them to think that the whole adventure was quite funny and a heck of a way to start a week long vacation. The beach is beautiful and the pool area is nice too. We've stayed here before, but it is no longer anywhere near Club Med standards. The only reason that we came here again even knowing that the place and the grounds are tired is, they allowed us to bring our small dog without charging us an arm and a leg. HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE.... It has great potential but its just that potential... The condition of the hotel is really poor. It looks like it's been abandoned for many, many years. They don't maintain the place. There's no set parking spaces, everyone was parked all over the dirt. There's no light at night... I needed to get something from the […] truck but I ended up going back to the pool area because it was too scary to go out there alone. They used to have a gym but now all the equipment its outside all moldy. Front desk people have not customer service skills. They are so rude! They put a bracelet on you to make sure you're registered at the hotel. Visitors have to paid $10 dollards per person to come visit you. They have a big sign that says, no outside food or drinks allowed. You have to buy everything at the hotel restaurant. Which its very expensive. $3.00 dollars for a 16oz bottle water. Restaurant don't have AC just fans. We heard terrible stories from the other guests. One couple with a new born had to move rooms 3 times, because the first one was full of cockroaches, the second had a whole family of racoons, and the third one didn't have an AC. Terrible! The rooms are very uncomfortable! the shower doens't have a door, it only has a courtain, the shower head was small, a trickle of water came out. No phone in the rooms. We decided not to spend the night there. The actual price was cheaper for walk ins than in Expedia.com We are never coming back!!!! Read more
