"Perfect Stay"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 4, 2012
The Westin was perfect! Stayed in a suite with friends for a weekend away. The hotel was clean and the service was great. The location is perfect for walking and dining in the old port and totally accessible if you want to spend time downtown or further North. No complaints!

Price at the restaurant was high ei $16.00 for glass of house wine. Gym under reno and card for other facility didn't work

"Perfection in Old Montreal"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 3, 2012
We only stayed the one night at Place d'Armes hotel, on our way back to Vancouver and then home, but we wished we had more time, and will return. The hotel staff were both welcoming and efficient (not a combination one often finds), and the hotel itself was immaculate in every respect. The room was flawless in its design, the bed was soft enough to be comfortable, but not so soft as to feel like one is clambering from a bean-bag, upon rising, (as I found in so many hotels in the States!) I particularly appreciated that the designers had eschewed a bath/shower combination in the large bathroom, and installed a large, stone-clad, walk-in shower with a beautiful glass shower screen, instead. The location of the hotel was perfect for exploring Old Town Montreal by foot, which was just what we wanted to do, since we only had the one night. When we checked out, we left our luggage with Place D'Armes, mentioned when we would return for our flight and, when we did, a taxi was already awaiting us. Immaculate service.

"Good value for your money"
Nice to have a kitchenette! Walking distance to underground mall, St. Patrick's Basilica and restaurants. Very nice staff. Bathrrom may need some updating though...
"You get what you pay for."
Check-in not computerized, ie., had to fill-out personal details because it wasn't available through the net company that I booked with. Tile vs rugs in hall ways and half the rooms means very loud hallways and very dirty ones in winter. Wish there was sheer curtains on window as room was facing building across the street. Parking is half a block away […] and very challenging. I would consider parking in this garage quite a challenge with a van. Lighting in room very dim. Lighting combined with colour makes this a very sad place. These two factors would make a big difference to me if they were fixed. It was clean- temperature comfortable-price was right for my use in a short stay. Read more

"Close to metro and bus"
Easy home base for sightseeing. Easy to access public transport. Was in Montreal for a conference, and the Palais convention center is about 15 minutes away by foot. Very clean and comfortable, surrounding neighborhood somewhat sketchy.
"Good option, everything you want"
The price was right, the place was perfectly nice, and I loved that the continental breakfast included Montreal bagels-- Yum! I have no complaints about this place. It was clean, nice staff, comfortable beds, free wi-fi, nice showers. We even had a little kitchenette area in our room which I wasn't expecting. The room was quite large and quiet. "clean, but don't expect to sleep on the sofabed"
The location was great. We had a suite and I thought the layout was great, like a small apartment. The service was so-so. We asked for a microwave in our room at check-in, the man at the front desk said it would be right up but it never came. The kitchenette does have a full stove and refrigerator. My mom was annoyed that one of the burners didn't work, […] but only one out of three. The sofabed was a big problem; it folded out at a ridiculous slant, and was completely uncomfortable. I visit Montreal with my mother and young son every year and I think the sofabed might be the one thing that sends us looking for a different hotel next year. Parking was a pain. Breakfast was great; real french pastries still warm from the oven, fresh-baked bread for toasting, really strong coffee, etc Read more

"Hotel Roberval in montreal, Canada"
Close to all the restaurants, shops nightlife of downtown Montreal. it was clean, had a nice complimentary breakfast and the bed and room conditions were very adequate. The people spoke English well, so we had no problem with them meeting our needs and questions. Dont' bring a big SUV to their parking as it is low and underground. "Le Roberval - Nice hotel - fantastic location"
My wife and I stayed two nights and were completely satisfied. The staff was friendly. The kitchenettes with refrigerator is a bonus. Parking is close, easy and relatively inexpensive ($15.00 per night). The breakfast is nothing special (canned fruit, standard pasteries), but it is free and served untill 11:00. The rooms are not fancy, but clean and […] seemed recently updated. The best aspect is the location. Very easy to get to driving up I-87 from the U.S. Walking distance to Downtown, Vieux Montreal and the restaurants and bars in the Plateau. And a block from a Metro hub for everything else. I'm not sure when I'll get back to Montreal, but when I do go back I'll stay at Le Roberval again. Read more
"The Roberval: Great suite for our family"
Traveling with a toddler, we like having two rooms and a kitchenette. This is hard to find on our budget. The Roberval met our needs for space, cost, comfort and location. Our room was perfect as the living room and bedroom were separated by a galley kitchen and bathroom. This allowed us to put our son to bed in the living room while we could still […] use the bathroom and bedroom without disturbing him. The room could have been cleaner - needed detailing. The tub drain was full of hair. Dining table was sticky and the corners under the cabinets were full of crumbs. Bed was surprisingly comfortable. Our room only had one bedside table/reading lamp. [and the bulb was out when we arrived] The breakfast was sufficient and met our needs. Bread, croissants, muffins, cereals/oatmeal. Canned fruit, yogurt, juice/milk and coffee. We like toast with peanut butter, croissants, yogurt so we were satisfied. Staff should have recommended the side entrance that had a ramp and a luggage cart. We discovered it the day before leaving. On our arrival date, we were parked by it unknowingly, carried 9 pieces of luggage around the corner and up two sets of stairs. Then transferred it all in shifts to elevator as we were told there was no trolley/cart. The issue there was English/French with the staffer on duty. Other staffers were proficient in English through our stay. The location was perfect for us as we wanted to explore Vieux Montreal, the Latin Quarter and visit the Biodome. While we are from NYC, we were struck by the number of homeless folks across the street and down the block on St. Denis towards the river. There is quite a bit of tourist traffic coming and going from Vieux Montreal so it's busy and safety probably isn't an issue. Unfortunately, I was followed while pushing my son in the stroller for a couple blocks by a man yelling obscenities at me. I caught up with my husband and went into a store. However, I never felt unsafe coming and going from our immediate buildin Read more

I was a little leary at first about staying in these apartment/suites. Once I got there, the staff was friendly, hospitible and very helpful and infomative in getting you around the city. I was pleasantly surprised by this hotel. The room was very clean and the bed was very comfortable. "Convenient, if sketchy, location"
For a group of 20-somethings coming to Montreal for a weekend, this location worked great. Walkable to the UQAM metro station and the old town, you could see all the sights quite easily. The surrounding neighborhood was a bit sketchy, a lot of folks sleeping on the streets as well as in/around the metro stations. The room was clean and quiet, and the […] breakfast free, just don't expect any frills. Read more

"Good price and quality. Near lively part of town."
Location: The hotel is conveniently located near the livelier student and entertainment district of Montreal, and the centre is also very accessible, even by foot. It is also close to the Metro, for convenient and efficient access to all other key parts of town. Facilities: The hotel itself was of surprisingly good quality for the price and the room […] was very good. The staff were very helpful and even let us store our baggage for the day after we had checked out. The breakfast was great, with Continential options of croissants and pastries included. There was no noise from the street at all, but the corridors can sometimes be noisy in late morning when customers are wheeling their suitcases around. I would gladly stay there again. Read more

This hotel is in a great location, walking distance from Old Montreal. The front desk staff was very courteous and helpful. The room was of a decent size, and clean. "Few days in Montreal"
Montreal is not a nice city at all. Hotel was nice and cozy, not for spending time at (about 10 channels on TV). Good just to eat and sleep.

"Great place to stay"
Great place to stay- central location, friendly and helpful staff, decently-sized rooms. Parking is close to the hotel but small, which is expected when downtown.
"Very well-priced and VERY clean"
Went to Montreal for a conference and compared notes with several of my colleagues scattered across the city. At the Roberval I had the best rate and the largest room of the group. I also got a free (and tasty) breakfast each morning and my rate for parking was the lowest. The room was very clean and stayed that way all week. The bed was comfortable […] and I had two closets which made it easy to store the suits I brought. If you are a TV fan be aware many of the channels had poor reception. I can not begin to fathom why the hotel provides HBO in Spanish. The air conditioning was bedroom only. Other than one morning desk attendant I met twice and received back directions from twice, the staff was friendly, helpful and professional. This was one of the best hotel experiences I have had in a long time and I would recommend this hotel to anyone. Read more
"Hotel Le Roberval in Montreal - a great deal!"
We had a great stay here. The room was clean and comfortable except the bed was too hard. The staff was helpful when we asked questions about local places to see. The continental breakfast was just enough...coffee, pastries, cereal, etc. but very nice. We did have a problem with noise on Saturday night with other guests coming and going very late at […] night. There was no street noise really. We walked everywhere and also took the metro which is very close by. At night I felt less safe walking around than I had felt during the day. But this is the same in any city, I would expect. Read more

"Room 407 Rocks!"
This is the second year in a row I've stayed at this hotel. I always book it because it provides underground parking which I highly recommend in this neighborhood. I always book Suite's because it's me and my friend. Last year's suite was on the second floor and I was not impressed. But this year we were in room 407 and it was GREAT! Probably the room […] they use for the pictures. I was very happy with the room. Only downside was no microwave like last year, but we had an oven (no baking pans though). Only thing that was gross was a blood stain spot on the sheets. But that was taken care of. Also, the majority of the personnel speak English so you don't need to worry too often about being understood. Hotel staff were very courteous. Read more

"Great room for the money"
The hotel is located near the busy Rue St Denis. The staff is frendly and the suite is clean and in good condition. Upgrading to a suite is worth the cost since you get free parking and breakfast. The parking is on the next street, however. If you drive, the hotel is conveniently located not far from Highway 720. An easy way in and out of the city.
"Pleasant surprise"
Booked based on price and got more than expected. Included indoor parking adds to value. Rooms a bit small, but more than adequate. Nice having living room and kitchen, especially if staying for a few days. Very clean, very friendly staff.
"Could have been better"
The good things: - great breakfast / friendly staff - breakfast and parking included in room rate - very near to the subway and major attarctions The bad: - the sofa bed didnt work - the flush in our first room didnt work, got a room change (which was promptly done) Overall, if you are looking for a place (and spend less time in the room itself)to […] stay and not go out of your way; then this is good.
