Wonderful hotel with old-world charm and character. The breakfast buffet was huge and one of the best I've had. The bar/lounge has the perfect cozy ambiance, and the rooms are clean and extremely comfortable.

The front desk staff was very helpful and competent. I may be influenced by the history of this hotel as described in my guide book. It was quite sad, and yet I loved the feeling of staying in a truly historic building. I felt like a houseguest in a palatial home of the past, and hoped to honor in some way the suffering of those who created it.

Fantastic breakfast! Gorgeous restaurant with delicious breads, hams, cheeses, sausages, eggs 4 ways, jams, fruits, vegetables, and even salmon and herring! There are 2 parts of the hotel, the beautiful old part with big old fashioned rooms and the new part with close to cheap Motel rooms. We were there a week and thanks to a review on the internet asked to move from our new crappy room on the 4th floor to the old part. After one night we moved to a 2 room suite suited to a top notch hotel. The problem […] is that there are so many tours passing through, you have to be lucky to get a good room. They have a public use PC in the lobby and intermittent free wifi in the rooms. All in all, considering the price and location, this hotel is a good choice. Beautifully renovated Hotel with gorgeous Dining rooms and attractive chandeliers. Bar could be pictured in a TV show. The rooms are spacious, Bathroom is roomy and renovated. My family (5 people) stayed there for 10 days in 3 separate rooms (2 Standard rooms and 1 Deluxe). Each room had its own charm but try to get one in the ‘old’ portion of the hotel to truly enjoy the palatial feel. The beds were a bit firm for my liking, but the rooms were very quiet and extremely comfortable. The little things like having a full armoire […] for clothing add to the charm. The A/C was icy cold (if you wanted it that way) and purred like a kitten all night. Don’t expect broadband speeds with the WIFI and the service was a bit iffy at times, but for checking email or general surfing it’s just fine. And don’t get too excited over the casino. This isn’t like Vegas so unless you really do have money to burn and don’t mind being intently watched... However Benjamins restaurant is absolutely perfect so save your money and enjoy a delicious meal or 3. The staff was top notch and went out of their way to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. The location in the city was ideal. Within easy walking distance of Old Riga and other shopping and fine dining. Nice hotel with large rooms, good shower and a comfortable bed. The shower could have been cleaned a little better though - hair in the bath is not particularly enticing. Wifi accessibility was intermittent. Iron and ironing board were not provided on request. Friendly and helpful girl at reception.

Two single beds provided but would have preferred one double bed but a call to the front desk resolved the problem promptly. The Europa Royale Hotel looks quite grand and is furnished in traditional style which in the bedrooms is a bit dated. Parking is available in a private car park but there is an extra charge for this. This hotel needs to decide whether it is a 4 star hotel or a casino/karaoke/night club. The hotel is quite beautiful, well located and the staff are very friendly and helpful. The rooms are reasonably large and clean. However I did have several issues with this hotel. My first room on the second floor was next to the floors "lounge" where guests entertained […] themselves until after 1am, then at 4am other guests arrived back from a night out and made enough noise to wake me up. The next day I requested a new room and was told that the noisy guests had checked out and so I agreed to stay in this room, however when I came back at the end of the day there was live music at the karaoke bar which was so loud that the floor of my room vibrated! I requested a new room and was offered a room on the third or fourth floors and so as to be as far away from the noise as possible opted for the fourth floor. This room had several roof support beams coming through the floor and rendered half of the room unusable! Also the TV's in all rooms are the old CRT type. Not really acceptable in a four star hotel these days. The breakfast which was included was average at best especially considering that this is served in one of Riga's better restaurants. The presence of casino patrons milling around the reception and couples going into the sauna late at night certainly does not enhance the four star status of the hotel either. Read more

Brilliant value and great rooms. The hotel rate included a lovely buffet breakfast. Lots of character in the hotel. Super hotel med fantastisk beliggenhed lige ud til grønne områder og alligevel 5 min. gang fra den gamle bydel. Hyggeligt og rummeligt værelse. Rent og pænt og god service. Personalet taler rigtig godt engelsk. Fantastisk morgenbuffet med alt hvad hjertet begærer. Vi kommer gerne igen.
