"Worth the short commute"
Clean and comfortable. Cheery and helpful staff. Neighborhood in urban/suburban transitional renewal but was not a deterrent for our stay. Easy access to freeway and short trip to downtown Grand Rapid venues. Much less expensive than downtown hotels.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Plumbing issues rained on my stay"
The room was clean and comfortable, and I slept well. The neighborhood didn't project a safe environment - a little shady feeling. The service was friendly, but not above the minimum levels of courtesy. The room above mine had plumbing issues and there was water running off the ceiling in my bathroom and all over the floor. I notified the front desk, […] but they never sent a maid to my room. They just fixed the situation upstairs. I had to request a maid a second time, and then they cleaned the mess up. For the intended purpose of the room (a safe place to sleep after a bachelorette party), this hotel did fine. Bonus was close proximity to 131, and how surprisingly quiet the environment was. Not fancy but had all of the basics. Room was clean and facilities were nice. It is good to know there are still some good motels out there, like this one.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Close enough to Grand Rapids"
Hotel is very nice but in more of an industrial area. We had two issues that were resolved to our sastisfaction. I would stay there again.Genuine Expedia guest review
Lots of things were broken when we were there. The toilet seat broke, the bathroom door wouldn't lock, & the toilet by the pool was clogged. The chlorine in the hot tub was so strong, it wasn't even comfortable to sit in there for more than five minutes.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"close to highway and comfortable beds"
The room was spacious, clean, comfortable, good linens and pillows. The spa was refreshing after the day. Easy access to the highway although all of grand rapids seems to be under construction. Polite staff and adequate breakfast.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Traveling on business, close to where I needed to be. Everything was as advertised. Would recommend and stay here again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Better than Expected"
I had a good stay at this hotel. The room was clean and updated, the walls were not paper thin, and the hotel's location was convienent because it was close to the highway I needed to travel on frequently for the weekend. The surrounding neighborhood didn't look the best but I never felt threatened. I would say the hotel needs improvement on their breakfast […] menu though. It left a lot to be desired. Overall, I would definitely stay here again. I enjoyed my stay. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

This Best Western was one for the expensive Best Westerns I've stayed at... But you wouldn't know it from the service or facilities. The staff at the desk the evening I stayed there was not professional or courteous. I called down to have some blankets sent up to my room and she replied in a condescending tone that I could come down to the desk to get them. I was happy to do so, not knowing when I asked that the hotel was probably understaffed. I went to the desk and got the extra blankets and was told that there are already blankets on the beds. This is something that I was totally aware of. Extra blankets are not an unusual request, but she made me feel like I was asking the world's biggest favor. The fan and furnace in the room was extremely loud--it sounded like there was a semi truck parked outside the window. The sofa bed was very squeaking, and worse yet, had huge stains on the mattress. I don't know what it was, but it looked like red bodily fluid. This is why I needed extra blankets... To make a barrier. I'm not sure why I didn't leave. The floor of the tub was slimy. Breakfast was the usual fare. Missing were eggs that were not from the day before, milk in the pitchers, cream for coffee, and a staff member. I didn't see anyone manning the dining room the whole time. There were flies, however. The boiled eggs were not chilled, just sitting in a bowl of melted ice. Overall I would not recommend. Stay elsewhere.
"Not a pleasant experience."

Quiet and clean enough, but had a perfume-y smell. Stinky, hard mattresses. Poor breakfast foods, not enough staff to renew the foods. Peeled boiled eggs in an uncovered bowl without ice underneath. Long wait at check-out, no one at desk.

The room was great and bed super comfy!! The furniture in the suite needed updating along with the carpet but overall great room. only one staff person at check in so had to wait a bit and people were lining up behind me. Breakfast was good but unfortunately I cannot have any wheat so as usual, no gluten free items to eat. I had to eat cold hardboiled eggs. No rice milk or corn flakes to choose from. I hope hotels soon make changes and can try to accommodate for people with allergies.
"Nowhere near a 4-star"

I will start with the positives. Convenient location just off US 131 in Grand Rapids. Rooms are well kept and updated. Breakfast area was roomy and the breakfast offered was nice with lots to choose from. Staff was courteous. Wifi was strong and easy to access. Now to the negatives. Although location is convenient, it is less than desirable. My 10 and 12 year olds actually made reference themselves to being in "the hood" and feeling unsafe. Check-in took 10 minutes because the one person on duty had to leave the desk to take another guest to a room for approval, due to overbooking on the hotel's part. Another factor in the overbooking was when one family in our group returned to their room only to find that a total stranger was using the bathroom in their room. The hotel gave somebody keys to a room that was already occupied. AWFUL. My daughter is now paranoid that people will be walking into our room now. We booked our room on Hotwire.com and the rate we paid was $88; which I think is a little high, all things considered. The rest of our group paid the standard $129 to $139 a night, and that rate is substantially high for what you get and where you get it.

I checked into the hotel on a Sunday so it was pretty slow. The staff were kind and helpful at both check-in and check-out. Otherwise I did not see any employees in the hotel. The pool was down for maintenance but I was informed of that when I checked in. The internet worked without issue and the pillows were really comfortable. It's a nice hotel for the price--worth what I paid.
"What a gem!"

It was so beautiful and made me feel like i was home. Staff was exceptional. Breakfast was wonderful. I will only be staying at this hotel when i travel to Grand Rapids. Conveniently located and lots of options for shopping and restaurants. The staff was so helpful in providing me with suggestion on both. With the weather so nice I was able to enjoy a very nice walk around the neighborhood. Thank you Joanne & staff for making my stay an experience I will remember. See you soon!
"Great Hotel near downtown."

Hotel was great and had a better then expected breakfast. Was in town for a concert and this hotel was literally 4 minute drive to van andel arena. I chose this hotel since all the other hotels in downtown were sold out and this was priced alot lower then any hotels in downtown.
"Lovely hotel, very nice decor"

This is a very attractive hotel. Beautiful wood decor, very nice room with a comfortable bed. Breakfast was better than expected with hot entres like biscuits and gravy and pretty good coffee. I usually stay at La Quinta but their coffee is consistently bad. Otherwise, the two hotels are usually comparable in price and amenities. This hotel was higher priced than I usually pay, but the nice lodgings made it worth the price. My only complaint was the internet was extremely slow.
"Would have been Perfect ......BUT"

Nice hotel...check in fined...accommodations in room were fine.. But then we went to the POOL area to relax. That was when found the HOT TUB was not working . We told them about the problem and they responded by trying reach maintenance about the issues. Later they told me maintenance could not get the HOT TUB fixed until the following day due to a part not being a available until that time. They did not offer a Discount for the stay even after I told them that was approx 50% of the reason for us picking the hotel in the first place on Valentines Day. They offered us no Discount for current or future stays based on the broken Hot Tub when it was part of the normal Amenities listed at their hotel.

Stayed at the Best Western - facilities looked nice, overall presentation was clean. The blankets were quite thin for the time of year, the room temperature was set too low, and a garbage truck unloaded a garbage bin next door at around 4AM. If you say here in the winter check the heating unit thermostat!
