This will be my third stay at the Belmont in the last year...and I'm a local. The hospitality is nothing like I've ever experienced, even in the 5 star over the top hotels. There is something genuine about all of the staff, even at the restaurant next door, Smoke. If I could work at the Belmont...or even live there, I would.

I absolutely fell in love with the retro/swanky vibe of this hotel. The landscaping is lovely, with fragrant blooms like lavender lining one side. From the moment you walk in, the place is eclectically but tastefully decorated with great artwork. The staff are AMAZING as well. The rooms are also fresh and contemporary, and it was priceless to walk in […] and see cotton bedding that I would purchase for myself instead of the cheap polyester stuff that you always seem to get. The bathroom needed a little work here and there but only because they are trying to retain some of the original vintage tiles and whatnot. As if the hotel wasn't enough, there is their rstaurant Smoke right next door! Literally across the street. We had the most decadent dinner and drinks and I hiiighly recommend it. We were even upset not to have time to go back for breakfast. We travel often to Dallas and The Belmont will surely be our new regular spot. Next time, I can't wait to try out one of the bungalo rooms that have their own enclosed outdoor sitting area! Read more

This is a fun, updated 1940s travel lodge. Great staff and clean (except for the roach I saw in my room!) I had an amazing view of the Dallas skyline from my room. It has a nice bar, eating area and a great restaurant next door. Parking isn't ideal but ok. Neighborhood isn't conducive to walking around. Seems to be in transition.

It was very clean however the room was way too small, the bathroom was bare bones and there was no place to park close to the room. It was also in a very depressed part of the city - sort-of scary around the motel;i.e., bad neighborhood. Not sure I could recommend it to anybody else. Now, having said that, maybe we just got one of the smallest rooms […] because we made the reservation only a few days in advance. We heard about the motel from a friend who lives close to it - maybe she is used to such a neighborhood but we are not. We didn't use any of the amenities except the coffee in the am. As one time residents of Oak Cliff, it was fun staying at a Hotel that we grew driving past in our youth. Everything was tip-top! We loved the modern vibe and crisp style. the landscaping was so attractive. The beds were beautifully made with military-tight linens. Loved the aqua ceilings! the breakfast at Smoke was out-of-this-world.

My husband and I recently stayed at the Belmont in Dallas Texas. It is a charming and historic former 1930's original motel which has been completely and tastefully restored. It is very close to the Arts District and downtown Dallas, including the museums, Dealy plaza and the JFK memorial. It has wonderful views of the city skyline. My husband and I stayed at the Belmont while we were celebrating his 50th birthday. We had a terrific time hanging out at the Bishop Arts District during the afternoon. We check in the hotel about 3:00. We were greeted by a friendly valet who directed us to the front desk. It was like entering back into the 1950's as we walked into our room. We had […] a room upstairs that was simple, clean and over looked the Bar Belmont patio. It was very quiet because of the concrete walls. We had friends meet us at the Bar Belmont where we each had one of their creative cocktails. Our waitress arranged for a shuttle to take us to dinner back at the the Bishop Arts district. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The only thing I would change is the bathroom. Our shower was very slow to drain, and it could use some updating of worn out tile. Read more

The people staying across from our room (29) were so loud that we woke up at 5am and my son yelled at them. A massive cloud of marijuana smoke flooded the room when he opened the door.....I thought the hotel was no smoking. Management did not seem to care. This hotel is for the serious party animal. Or wear good earplugs.

The Hotel needs updated. Not impressed with rooms and overall complex. The staff was not overly friendly and the Bar tender was not at all friendly. It would be nice to have had a vending machine on site. Over priced for what you get.

This is a hotel from 1929 that has been restored. it is too cute and very accessible to I-30. On the patio and by the pool there is the best view of downtown Dallas ever! Not for everyone, but a unique experience. We loved it.

The belmont is an eclectic renovated motel. The main building and patio are fantastic with an incredible view. It's on the edge of a rough part of town - which isn't that bad. The biggest issue for me was that the rooms need new carpet and an updated bathroom. I enjoy the renovated "retro style" but the carpet was dirty and wrinkled (coming up in areas […] in the middle of the room). The bathroom really needs to updated - the style can be kept but modernized. Lastly on site parking is not available. You either have I pay a mandatory $15 valet service fee or park it around the back of the hotel in a sketchy dirt lot. This wouldn't be so bad if the neighborhood weren't as gritty as it is. It was freezing in our room - like a meat locker. Obviously, heat was not working. We finally had to change rooms, after presssuring management. There is no art on any wall. Rooms are bare.

We love the Belmont and hosted a birthday party with multiple guests a few years ago. Our only complaint this time was the rude and inconsiderate behavior of the bellman or valet guy, whatever you would call a person who basically refused to assist with our luggage and pointed us up the hill to tell us where we could carry our belongings, following […] check-in. Other than that, the other staff were all courteous and helpful. He was the only sour note of our short stay. We received the message and carried our own luggage back down the hill at check-out and tipped him for moving the car a few feet and opening the back door of the car to "assist" with the luggage. My sister and I are both eligible for social security and arrived with our family pet. He could have been more helpful, but chose to be rude instead. Too bad, not a very good way to start a short one day vacation. Neverless, we were completely satisfied. When we return in the future, we will know to be prepared to handle our own luggage and plan accordingly!!! Read more

The Belmont evokes boutique hotels circa 1940s Los Angeles. Bungalows of white stucco and red roofs set among lush landscaping won me over before I even set foot in our room. Then I did that... and get a load this skyline! The room design is mid-century modern influenced, all clean lines and minimalist pieces. I'd definitely stay here again, but there […] is one con: the size of the beds is insanely small. It didn't need to be, the room could have easily accommodated a king. The staff were very nice; they quickly responded to our requests for a coffeemaker and extra towels. We took advantage of the room service provided by Smoke, the bbq joint next door. Highly recommended. We are from Texas, so we know our bbq. And that was GOOD. The bar patio is lovely for lounging, and the pool area is quite pretty and was oddly deserted. This appeared to be a place for couples of friend's getaways, less so for families. The Belmont is approximately 10 minutes to downtown, and convenient to Fair Park. At the time of our visit, parking was by valet (fees apply), or free self-parking was available behind the restaurant next door. Read more

But if you want a diverse group, eclectic art in the lobby, bungalow style rooms, a swimming pool with the greatest view of Dallas and a great modern barbeque restaurant next door then this is the place for you. Whenever we travel we seek out places like this. On the weekends its busy all night which makes for the perfect ambiance for those young in age and in heart. If you like the Belmont, try the Clarendon or Tally Ho in Phoenix. These places ought to get together so we can find where our tribe is staying!! Oh yeah, do not, I repeat, do not care about the neighborhood. It's semi-industrial. If you want a quiet room I would suggest you request one of the motel rooms rather than staying in the main building that houses a very active bar area. The Belmont hotel was the highlight of our stay in Dallas. I would heartily recommend it to anyone who appreciates good design, especially mid-century design, as the owners of this hotel did a splendid job reviving the character of the original building and keeping its spirit alive. To our delight, a wonderful jam session was taking place in the foyer […] of the hotel when we arrived, featuring talented musicians from the neighborhood. We lingered on the bar terrace with a great view of downtown Dallas, enjoying the music and drinking, before we retreated to our quiet room. It's great for hanging around and inviting friends, and the Smoke restaurant that serves the hotel has some of the best food in Dallas you could hope for. The hotel has a great vibe and a lot of charm. The bar is fun and the restraunt smoke is awesome. Staff was so nice especially the valet. I was 1st put in a villa on the exterior and 20 minutes in, I saw the biggest cockroach I'd ever seen. Called the front desk and was assured it was a "waterbug." asked to move and they were cool about it. Moved me […] to an interior room above the bar and it was so loud that the floor shook. Other customers were so loud in the hallway till about 200am, then a bachelor party left at 700am making tons of noise. So very little sleep was had. The walls are painfully thin and with the Spanish tiles, everything echoes. So I'd say this is a good place if you want to party and don't care much about peace or remodeled rooms.
