"Pleasant hotel close to the centre of Shanghai"
This is a pleasant hotel close to the centre of Shanghai, and to the Shanghai museum and the shopping district. The restaurant is a good place to eat, and there are a couple of other places to try in the streets nearby. The hotel was once clearly a very desirable place to stay, though it is not as new as it once was.Genuine Expedia guest review
Overall our stay was good. Only staff at the counter spoke English. Main criticism was lack of cooking utensils. They have a reasonable kitchens with gas stove but nothing to cook food. We couldnt understand the logic behind this. We ended up buying pots as we were planning to cook most of our dinners. We were also at a loss to find why swimming caps […] are needed to use the pool. We ended up buying cpas but at the pool seen people swimming without caps. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great hotel. Nice, clean room."
Taxi drivers have a hard time finding this place, so if you have GPS with offline maps on your phone, that'll help. So many things to do within walking distance! I had a two bedroom suite, so the room was quite large and very well priced when split amongst all those that stayed there. The bathrooms provided just about everything you need. Air conditioning […] worked well. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
hotel was good rather a bad smell in bathroom coming from drains they say. the funniest thing was you had to wear bathing cap in pool, have been all over the world and never had this problem. everything else was good rooms very roomy breakfast good, staff good, english okay overall enjoyable stay would recomend.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The apartment was old but the cleanest I have seen . No old or mould smell actually went barefoot which I never do . We did our washing and just took it to the laundry to use the industrial dryers .We were comfortable as we're our Grandchildren . We did not eat there so can't comment . We did not love the position of the hotel but close to almost everything […] with a little effort . Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"OK but probably better properties available"
The Hotel was a little difficult for most Taxi drivers to find but is a pretty central location to shopping, The Bund. Staff not overly helpful in terms of giving directions. Average decor but would be ideal for family/self catering stay.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Well located, especially good for families"
When arriving, you have no idea what t expect. The signs pointing the way to the hotel look a bit old and decrepit and you wonder how bad it might be, but these apartments did the job for us. With two separate bedrooms, we had lots of flexibility in how we managed our evenings, unlike in hotels where we're all sharing the same space. There was a big […] fridge, cooking area and good enough bathroom. None of it was flashy or swish, but it was practical and well located. Food was "acceptable" - nothing fancy, but nothing to be scared of. The one big improvement we thought would make it really practical would be to have broadband wireless on all floors, rather than just in reception. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"A Must Stay"
We found the hotel to be extremely clean, friendly staff, the restaurant excellent, great location (only 10 minutes walk from People's Square, Nanjing Road and Yuyuan Gardens).Genuine Expedia guest review
Stay was comfortable. Room spacious enough for family. No DVD and poor internet was disapionting. Also very disapionting was that the apartments were advertised as self contained, yet they had no kitchen utensils other than plates and bowls and no laundry faclities. When we enquired at reception we were told we could hire them, unfortunatlly, for us […] we wanted to hire a toaster, which they didn't have. Is this a ploy so guests have to use their breakfast buffet/room service? Would also have been helpful if people working in reception could speak English. Trying to seak help for directions proved teadious and costly as on occasions we were taken to the wrong location. Overall we enjoyed Shanghai, but we were a little disapionted with the apartment. "Near the city hotel"
It very near to major shopping centre in shanghai city, but the room itself is let down for it non kitchen concept.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Rubbish. Overpriced. Avoid."
Pictures are totally misleading. Booked and paid for an 'executive bedroom suite located on floors 16-25' Asked the reception why we were on the 11th floor, they assured us this was 'an executive room'. Was stuck in a bland, poorly decorated room on the 11th floor which was far from executive. Kitchen had no pots, no pans, no cookware, no cutlery, […] no glassware, no toaster. There were 2 bowls, 2 plates, 2 cups and 4 chopsticks. The complimentary items: 4 teabags, 2 sachets of sugar and two bottles of water. No Wifi, which in Shanghai is very, very rare. They only had wired phone connections at extortionate pay per minute phone charges. TV was an ancient small old tube-style one from the early nineties. Room was freezing cold. Single glazed windows were drafty and traffic noise came though easily. Getting the deposit back at check-out was absolutely chaotic. They had lost the card details they took and claimed I should have kept the reciept. Quite how this place managed to get the "Expedia Insider's Select" award proudly mounted in their reception is beyond me. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"5 nights in New Harbour Service Apartment"
Clean and spacious 2-bedroom apartment with a small kitchen. Large living and dining area. Helpful porters. Convenient location although not easy to catch a taxi unless you walk to the main road. A couple 24-hr convenient stores nearby. Walking distance to shops, restaurants, MRT, etc.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Comfortable Family Apartment"
Well presented, comfortable apartment with a good layout for a family and good basic facilitiesGenuine Expedia guest review
"Close to centre of town"
I found the Apartments were off the main road but in a good position to visit most of the sights. In some cases a short taxi ride, the Metro is close and you could walk to a lot of the tourist/shopping areas within 10 - 15 minutes. The Staff and facilities were very good.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
We stayed two weeks and used it as a base for day trips. Internet was the biggest disappointment. Despite advertised there was no Internet access in room. They claim it was for wired access only but despite buying a gadget so I could link my IPad to the Internet it failed to work. There was quite a bun fight in the lobby as people tried to access their […] wireless services in the lobby area. Another little gripe was the fact that despite their advertising that rooms are fully equipped for cooking you had to actually hire pans to do this. The rooms were made up daily with clean towels and complimentary bottled water, good swimming pool although I did not understand segregated sauner and steam room facilities. That was a new one for me. Not a bad hotel if you're staying for a couple of days before moving on. Staff very friendly and helpful. As I said earlier my only major gripe was the poor Internet facilities. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Location hard to beat"
Excellent location for tourists and business alike. Only a 10 minute walk to Metro, Nanjing shopping area or The Bund. Plenty of authentic and inexpensive local restaurants in the next street. Only negative is that you have to hire cooking equipment if you want to prepare food in the apartment kitchen.Genuine Expedia guest review

"excellent for family vacation"
Superb location- a few min walk east to Yuyuan, a few min walk west to Xintiandi, 10 min walk north to People's Square & Nanjing Lu, 2 min walk west to Dashijie metro, best 1 min walk west to restaurants & bakery, oh yeah, 1 min walk south to hospital, which was great cos my daughter got the flu. In-house restaurant was OK for passing the typhoon. Hotel […] pool doesn't have a shallow end so not good for kids, even my wife felt nervous (she's 1.6m). "All the air-cond units need replacement /servicing"
(1). Premises : The lobby was very impressive but the rooms were very old! The place is old and needs more maintenance - espc the air-cond units were not working well! Met other guests in the elevator and we all shared similar complaints that the air-cond was not cold even when turned down to 19 degrees C! It was like outside temperature in summer! […] I had to call several times to fix this problem before we were finally shifted to another unit. It was better but we still had to set the temp to 19 degrees C for a temp that felt like 24 degrees C. (2). Services : House-keeping services very pleasant, and clean although slow (have to wait a long time for them to respond). Bell-boys and staff at gym/swimming pool were very friendly and welcoming, However, the services at reception counter was poor - female supervisor extremely fierce and unfriendly. We asked questions abt transport, nearby locations, etc. and all our queries were met with impatience. All the receptionist staff seem in a hurry to brush us off and not very helpful at all. (3). Location : very convenient - near convenience shops, eating places, and subway MTR station Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Good place for a family"
The hotel is located in a small street which at first glace looks a bit daunting. Once past this though, the hotel is fine. The staff were a little unfriendly, but had us booked in swiftly. I booked a 3 room appartment for my family, 2 tennage boys, my wife and I, which had all the space we could ever need. The rooms were clean and had all the required […] items. The washing machine was an added bonus we did not expect. The hotel is a 3 minute walk from the Metro and has plenty of small shops very close. We walked around late at night and felt safe at all times. Overall we found the stay to be relaxing, comfortable and without fault. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Cheaper Family Option"

"Close to Times Square"
We wasted 2 hours looking for this hotel based on the map provided by Hotels.com's website. We had to ask for help in one of the grander hotels who kindly provided us with a more detailed map in English. The room service was pleasant enough although cold on arrival. There are not enough facilities in the apartment to make it homely or comfortable. The […] kitchen is designed for Chinese cooking end even if we had wanted to cook, there were not the ingredients to find to cook. There were no fry plans or pots either. There were no carpets on the floors and the rooms were very very cold, despite the air-conditioner pumping out hot air 24/7. There was a "coin-operated" laundry service (wonderful with a young child!) but even this service came with staff who did not speak English but still did the laundry for you (self service meant you brought it to them and collected it later, for a nominal fee). Location wise the hotel was good but with a young child I would not stay in self-service apartments again as they are just too stark for a family to enjoy. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Staying with a toddler"
The two bedroom apartment was very spacious, especially the main bedroom and living area, perfect for an active toddler. The kitchen was a little small and lacking equipment (cutlery, kettle, pans etc) but these could be hired for a small charge. Each room had aircon/heating so we were able to keep the apartment nice and warm in January! The hotel also […] had a large gym but unfortunately the pool was still closed (one of the main reasons we booked here). I believe it has been closed for sometime and this is not well advertised. In terms of location, the hotel was within walking distance of People's Square, The Bund, Nanjing Rd and Shanghai Old Street, although overpasses without ramps, meant having to lug the stroller up many flights of steps, or risk crossing the some what precarious main roads. There were two supermarkets beneath the hotel, stocking the main provisions which was handy for breakfast. The hotel is approximately an hours taxi ride from Pudong airport for a reasonable cost of 160 Yuan approx. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"New Harbour Service Apartment - Shanghai"
This is more like a hotel in the sense that they have full hotel facilities and the rooms are comfortable and spacious. Location of the hotel is quite convenient, just 2 blocks from from DaShiJie Metro Station and exit from No.2 Exit. from the map given in the Hotels.com, it seems like this hotel is nearer to People's Square Station, but it is not. Overall, […] my 4 days stay with my family was a good experience for us, there is wifi in the rooms but you have to pay for use, however, you can use it for free at the hotel's lobby which saves us quite a bit of money communicating via email and whatsapp, etc. No Facebook access in China though. "I always stay here"
I have stayed here many times and find that having the extra room of the apartment a refreshing contrast to the crowded streets. Staff are always helpful. We stayed a total of 6 nights at the hotel. It has a great location with many eateries and convenience stores nearby. Housekeeping service was excellent. Several times we ran out of toiletries and the housekeeping department responded to our requests in less than 5 mins flat. What we liked most about the hotel was that there was a mineral water dispenser […] in every room. Hence there was no need to lug back heavy mineral water bottles. Rooms were very spacious, with lots of storage cupboards. We do not have any complaints, only thing was they need to upgrade their TV sets. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Well impressed & would definitely recommend this one!"
Initially driving down the street the New Harbour Apartments was a potential disappointment but how wrong first impressions can be! The outside of the hotel was clean & new & on our first of 2 nights our group (2 adults & 2 kids) was upgraded to a 3 bedroom suite which was more than comfortable & clean. The location is great with several supermarkets […] & fruit stands on the street outside which comes alive in the evenings. It's also a quick 10 minute walk (with kids) to the nearby Yuyuan Gardens subway station &The Bund is about 15-20 minutes away. Not all staff spoke English but we were able to communicate with everyone & the staff were on the whole friendly & helpful. If I return to Shanghai I will definitely stay here again & would recommend to anyone visiting the city. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
