A modern hotel situated within walking distance of the Leaning Tower and a short taxi ride from the Central Station and Airport. Rooms were comfortable, well appointed and exceptionally clean. Spread over 3 floors the rooms were reasonably quiet, with occasional noise from nearby railway line & traffic using the underpass at front of hotel. The hotel restaurant provided a buffet style breakfast with a good choice of cold fare also scrambled egg, bacon, sausage & toast. Dinner was available in the restaurant (or as room service) from a fixed rather limited menu. Pricing of food & drink was about average for the region (but expensive compared to UK prices). Overall a good choice of Hotel for a short stay to see the sights of Pisa, with easy access to frequent & inexpensive rail link to Florence.

The hotel room was a little on the snug size, but everything else was more than adequate with plenty of storage The location was great as we only had the afternoon and evening before flying back to the UK, and it was only a short walk to the centre and its sights. We also arrived an hour early, coming from Florence but were able to book into our room. Particularly notable was the quality, service and price of the evening meal. The food was excellent and for a four star hotel we were very impressed with the price. The service was quick and efficient too. The breakfast was also plentiful and was regularly topped up, with lots of choice, although the morning we were there there were a coachful of people and so it was extremely busy with a lot of impatient people pushing and shoving which was a shame. We will definately recommend this hotel.

I read all the reviews on hotels.com before we went and it was a good 20 - 25 minute walk from Pisa station to the hotel. But it was good to do this walk to see a bit of Pisa on route. As others said, there was the underpass that you had to walk under to get to the hotel but it was all very safe. Only about 15 mins walk to leaning tower and about 15 mins in the other direction to the main town and river. The hotel was newly built, our room was nice, clean and had everything we needed. Was at the back so was quiet but walls were a thin and you could hear next door, but thats kind of normal these days. Only an hour on the train from Pisa to Florence - great value at ?1.20! There were other hotels that were nearer to the tower etc. but this was great value for money and had a great breakfast buffet! Recommended!

My wife and two teenage daughters stayed for a week.. We loved this hotel! We found it hard to fault this hotel at al. Some have quibbled with its' 4 star rating, but this is a smallish private hotel, so no, it doesn't have a pool..were very pleased to have two separate adjoining rooms with a connecting door: it meant our girls had their own space, en suite shower room, satellite tv etc and twin beds, whilst my wife and I had a huge and very comfortable double bed. The rooms were spotless and cleaned every day. Fresh towels are provided if you put the old ones in the shower tray each morning. The breakfast buffet was very good with a good range of choices. We ate twice in the restaurant. The first time when we checked in we were given a 15% discount voucher and we had a lovely meal c 90 euro after discount. The last night we were offered a packed breakfast but I cheekily asked if instead we could have another discount voucher for our last night dinner and the staff happily obliged. The location of the hotel is about 12-15 mins easy walk via suburban roads and an underpass which is easy to negotiate from the tower area. We used taxis to get to Pisa Central train station, cost around 10 euro. We would heartily recommend this lovely hotel to others. We will certainly return, and Pisa would make an ideal long weekend destination, just long enough to get away from the UK's endless clouds!

This was our second time to stay at the Grand Hotel Bonanno. It is an ideal hotel for a short stay in Pisa. (Our reason for staying was a late flight arrival time and the need to to pick up a hire car from the airport the next day) The hotel is not in the centre of the downtown area but Pisa is not a large city so the site of Leaning Tower is no more than a 10 minutes walk away. Shopping and restaurants are also within walking distance. A key advantage of a non central location is that there is very little noise from traffic and in particular un-muffled motor scooters. Flight crews overnighting in Pisa also stay are the hotel and this is usually a good sign. The hotel staff are very friendly and helpful. Our room was small but was clean and airconditioned. The general areas within the hotel were also very well maintained and clean. A buffet style breakfast was provided with plenty of choice available for both adults and children. A taxi ride to and from the airport is also not expensive and varies from 12-15 euros depending on traffic. John Dublin Ireland
