"close to sights/shopping"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 5, 2012
We loved it - great location, staff and breakfast. Lovely, large second floor room.
"Good Value"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 5, 2012
The Ardmore is a clean, modern hotel that has power showers and staff that are friendly. The food served is well prepared and affordable. For the money it can't be beat, but if you want nice pillows, soft towels& cozy bedding then you should spend the extra money to get them. Those of us who prefer value over the little "extras" would love this hotel. The 15 minute bus ride into downtown wasn't bad unless you JUST missed the bus and have to wait another twenty minutes to get on. It is a great location for a first night into Dublin or your last because it is only 15 minutes to the airport!
"Wonderful hotel"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 4, 2012
The westbury is a great hotel, very clean and comfortable. The staff is very friendly and helpful, they bent over backwards to make sure we were happy. I absolutely recommend this hotel to anyone looking to travel to Dublin soon!

"Close enough to everything, far enough for quiet"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 3, 2012
Very pleasant. We stayed directly in temple bar 3 nights before and wanted one night of quiet before we left. Receptionist was extremely helpful and even mailed a postcard for me so I wouldn't have to walk. Would stay again.

"Just okay-nothing special"
This hotel needs to be updated and get some new mattresses. The carpet was dirty and old. The staff however was very helpful and nice.
"Good service, well-priced & located for town"
Very helpful staff, good location for walking to all of the central sites - the hotel is across the street from the old Jameson distillery, a short walk (across the Liffey) to the Guinness Storehouse, and about 20-30 min walk from O'Connell Street, Christchurch, and other points in the center of the tourist district. Another plus, I got bumped from […] a double room up to a suite with a roof terrace, which was fantastic, so I cannot complain about the comfort of the hotel. I have only one caveat: although conveniently located, there are some industrial and fairly deserted blocks to the east between church st and around Wolf Tone St. to the East (where the pedestrian mall picks up), and along the Quay on the river Liffey to the South and just south of the river down to the Guinness Storehouse. It does not feel dangerous, just rundown and very empty at night. However, the area around the hotel itself is good/lively, and the surrounding neighborhoods are fine by day (even a kind of street market on Mary Ln.) Read more
"Great Location"
Great location -- only a couple minutes walk to the Smithfield Luas station and about 10 -15 walk to the Temple Bar and O' Connell Street. There is a grocery store with a coffee shop next door which made breakfast quick and easy. It is located in a mostly residential neighborhood which was very quiet and clean. The room was a bit small but was clean […] and comfortable. I would definitely stay here again! Read more
"Second trip and will go back"
Great location and a very comfortable room...well worth the price! Loved being across from Jamenson's for early morning Irish coffee before touring!
"Pleasant hotel, a little off the beaten track"
The Maldron Hotel Smithfield is in the northwest area of Dublin, so it's not absolutely central to all the must-see sights, but because Dublin is a small city, it's still quite possible to walk everywhere! That's what my cousin and I did, and we did not find it to be a problem. As for the hotel itself, we had accidentally booked a standard double room […] with one bed but it turned out that the room had one large queen bed and one small twin bed anyway! It was very clean, quiet in the evenings, and overall a cozy and comfortable stay. Our room was also spacious, the bathroom very clean, and overall we were very satisfied. Only one thing, though: there was no refrigerator, which wasn't ideal because we didn't have breakfast included with our stay and had planned on buying something from the grocery store. Since our stay was only two nights anyway, we did this, but that was okay. A safe in the room would also have been nice, as I had in another hotel in the past, but I can't complain. From the airport, this hotel is easily reached with the bus Airlink 747, stop 10 or 11: Usher's Quay, and it costs 6 euros for one way, 10 euros for return trip. We originally tried looking for bus 16A or 41B, since they are cheaper even if they stop everywhere, but this worked well for us. On the way back to the airport, though, we took the Airlink 747 from Busaras Central Bus Station, because a bookshop owner around St. Stephen's Green told us he wasn't sure the bus would definitely go to Usher's Quay again on the trip from the city to the airport. Bus and Luas stations are all in easy walking distance of the hotel, though, like I said, my cousin and I just walked everywhere and that suited us perfectly fine too! Overall, this hotel worked great: clean, spacious, quiet, and still in a decent location. The staff was friendly, too--they let us use a travel adapter when mine didn't work (the plug is the same as the UK one, but my adapter for the UK is somewhat fragile), gave us excellent m Read more
"Good location right near river and guiness factory"
Although not in the very center of everything going on, a very short walk to shops, and the river. Great location considering the low price. Reception could use Improving. Some receptionists were very nice, informative and friendly; while a few were unhelpful, and extremely informative. Internet only works in hotel lobby, not in the room (which I didn't […] expect anyway), but ads for the hotel are misleading in that way. For the price it was great, clean, and good location; however it could be far more comfortable knowing that the reception were more helpful. Read more
Great location; across the road from the Jameson Distillery and one block from a Luas train stop. Restaurant was good food but kinda expensive, there's a supermarket beside the hotel though for buying any necessities. 10 minute and around 18 euro taxi ride from the airport.
"What a great surprise!"
We arrived in Dublin on a Saturday evening, and we were greeted and made to feel that all we welcome to be there. The staff were great at reception and answered all our questions and even recommended a great restaurant for dinner. Our room was clean and comfortable. We will definitely consider staying at the Maldron again.
"Maldron Hotel Smithfield - Dublin Ireland"
Wonderful stay. Staff friendly and helpful. We decided to sleep really late on our last day in Dublin and they called to see if we were okay or needed anything. "Fresh" grocery next door with coffee shop. Easy access to everything, but far enough from Grafton & Temple Bar area to be quietly pleasant. Will stay there again.
"Nice place, great price. Def worth a visit"
The hotel is within a 2 min walk of the LUAS light rail, so it is very convenient to get to/from. Add another minute or two and you can be at the 747 bus stop back to the airport. Hotel is small, but it served us well. There is wifi in lobby, wired internet in rooms - both free. Some rooms have balcony which we had and it was very nice. Bed was a […] little uncomfortable but I was able to get a good night rest anyhow. THere is also a supermarket downstairs which is very convenient if you want to buy soda/snacks etc. Read more
"Enjoyed my stay here"
Super comfy the suites. The Jameson Destilety it's right across the street and the Guinness Storegouse like 10 mints walking. The Temple Bar was walking distance too and super close to the bus station to the airport & LUAS. I recommend this hotel
"Good place , Good price"
This hotel is slightly out of the way and that is not a bad thing. The price was good .One minor problem was that the room was too hot .Fortunately you could open the windows.Otherwise a comfortable pleasant place near St.Michans and Jamesons'.Plus a supermarket next door.
"Good hotel for business or pleasure"
I was in Dublin on a business trip and moved to this hotel to stay in town for a few extra days due to the value of this hotel. The hinge of my room squeaked a lot but otherwise there were no signs of deferred maintenance. The tv was not a flat-screen, which seems to be the norm for all hotels I have stayed at this year. Also, the in-room internet is […] free but not wireless, which is also fine but not optimal. The location is not bad, with a supermarket next door and Jameson around the corner. The walk to Temple Bar is about 15 minutes, so not ideal but well worth it due to the value. Read more
My first impression was "Oh no, what is this area?!" However, from the moment I arrived, the front desk was friendly, courteous and helpful. My room was kept VERY clean, Fresh linen daily, and coffee/tea in room replaced. The TV worked for about a few minutes, when the picture went out. I called the front desk, and within minutes someone was in my room […] fixing it, which then was actually replaced. The convenience of having the supermarket next door, which also has a cafe, was also a plus. The LUAS is less than 2 blocks away, and easily walkable. In addition, city center is a 10 minute walk. I came home late (after 2am) a few times and was worried about the neighborhood, but was actually safe. I am a walker and could easily walk everywhere. I would definitely return to this hotel. "Great Value!"
Maldron Smithfield is a nice hotel at a bargain price in Dublin. The staff was very friendly and helpful when I asked for directions to various places in Dublin. Highly recommended.
"Great Value, Great Hotel, Great Location"
close to the Jamison Distillery and Dublin Tour Bus Stop...walking distance to Temple Bar and the rest of Centre City Dublin. Didn't have a car and never used a taxi or a bus! Clean, new, and excellent staff...Would definetely stay here again!
"Good place to stay"
The staff - for the most part (one desk clerk didn't know what she was talking about with the buses)- was friendly and helpful. They kept our luggage for us as we got to Dublin very early. Their breakfast buffet was well worth it with plenty of choices. Overall a very good experience and would stay there again.
"Maldron Hotel Smithfield - disappointing"
Our experience at this hotel was marred by three main problems: 1) One unhelpful and rather rude front-desk staff member, whose only two pieces of information offered in response to our questions turned out to be incorrect (costing us a lot of time and frustration). 2) A shower that leaked. 3) A sub-par breakfast not worth the (high) cost.
"Maldron Smithfield Dublin"
Great hotel for the price in a "gentrifying" neighborhood in Dublin. Easy walk to "downtown" and buses. Room very clean and quiet. Free Wifi accessible in common areas. This was my first time in a Maldron hotel and i'll now seek them out.
"Great value"
The Maldron Smithfield was great. Close to the LUAS which made it quick and convenient to the Dublin city center. Price was best I found in Dublin for a hotel of this quality.

"Good value but the Internet is spotty"
Close to the Jameson distillery, tram to train and bus stations and short 15 min walk to the Temple Bar area.

"Great location"
Very good hotel, great location. - would recommend highly - very friendly staff
"Good value for the Money"
The staff in particular was very helpful, friendly, and accommodating. Location was near "Hop on, Hop off" bus stop, as well as LUAS stop. Also, the grocery/deli next door, as well as Christophe's Restaurant in the next block, were definite pluses.

"Great room for the money"
Just wanted to say this is an excellent location to the Luas and within walking distance of the city centre if one choses. The rooms were just the right size for what I needed and the staff were on top of everything. When I needed a taxi, they were obliging and when I needed an early check in, they did their best. It was a good value for the price […] paid. Read more

"Modern hotel in perfect location"
Modern hotel with clean and quiet rooms in a location from where all major attractions are only a short walk away. Very good value for money thanks to hotels.com early booking rate. Very friendly and helpful staff. Underground parking is EUR 10 for 24 hours (no multi entry available though - you may end up paying several times the daily fee if you move […] your car). Read more
"Excellent Hotel"
Excellent hotel. A boutique business hotel. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. Rooms pleasant and very quiet. I would thoroughly recommend. Cinema, shop, Luas (tram) all close by.
"Great room for the money"
Highly recommend. Street car passes one-half block for hotel and is a great way to travel to different sights.
"great hotel would use again and again"
cant think of anything bad to say the service was exelant hotel lovely and clean shop next door for all meal if you dont want to eat in. hotel staff will order taxi when ever needed what more could one ask for once again exelant service would go back again
"Needs Improvement"
The Good: clean, quiet, comfortable beds allow a good nights sleep. The Bad: broadband service did not work in the hotel room; TV set did not work; front desk staff were not the least bit helpful or interested in resolving these problems; breakfast is not good value for money - better to go down the street to the Cinnamon Cafe; neighborhood is a bit […] dodgy. This hotel isn't right in Dublin's city centre, but it is easily accessed by a short walk or tram ride. The tram stop is just 2 minutes away walking, as well as the stop for the hop-on hop-off sightseeing bus. We had a problem with our room smelling of cigarette smoke, but the staff were very helpful and made sure it was cleaned thoroughly the next […] morning. No complaints here! Read more

"Maldron Hotel ,Smithfield, close to Dublin city cen"
Staff very friendly, and great location, every time i stay ,there is always a warm welcome .
"The Maldron Hotel - Smithfield Dublin"
The Maldron Hotel in Smithfield Dublin is a gem of a hotel in the centre of Dublin. The rooms are comfortable, the staff are friendly and the restaurant is a one of the areas's best kept secrets.
"Maldron Hotel Smithfield Dublin"
I stayed at the hotel for the weekend with my friends. We met very friendly and helpful staff there. The room was big enough and clean. Very convenient location near to the centre and the old part of the city.
"Just Excellent!"
Best hotel I've ever stayed in for a price that low!
"Maldron Smithfield - slightly away from the bustle"
A modern, pleasant, reasonably-priced hotel which is nicely situated on the Northside, about 20-minutes walk from Temple Bar. Alternatively there's a Luas stop at the end of the street which is very handy. Being a little way from all the city centre action meant a quiet, largely uninterrupted stay. There is a grocery store/cafe nextdoor, plus an independent […] cinema around the corner. Other amenities are a little thin on the ground until you head towards the city centre, but if you want the blend of convenient location and peace & quiet, this has both. As a bonus, the staff encountered were all welcoming, and happy to help. I would look at this hotel again for my next stay in Dublin. Read more
"Maldron Smithfield - Dublin"
Brilliant hotel, lovely clean rooms, staff are really friendly. The Stir Cafe / Restaurant is very quiet, no astmosphere and the TV that is on ALL the time is very distracting. The hotel is slightly far from Temple Bar and Grafton St but the hotel is amazing.
"Maldron Smithfield"
A large, very modern, very comfortable if slightly impersonal hotel. Location is best described as "under development" but it is only a short walk across the river to the Temple Bar area or a slightly longer walk, or short tram ride to the heart of the city. I have no hesitation in recommending it.

"Great base for a quiet weekend break"
We arrived at the hotel to drop our bags after getting up at 3am to catch our flight and were pleasantly surprised to be offered check in at 10.40am, a god send after such an early morning. Staff were all lovely, efficient and nothing was too much trouble. The only negative was that having asked for a non smoking room, there were other smoking rooms […] nearby which caused our room to smell smoky at times but I have fed back to the hotel and received a promising response from them. If you want a good hotel, within walking distance of the city but quiet at night then this is a great location. It's worth buying a return bus ticket for the airport bus and if you are going to use the city bus then buy a rover ticket, great value. There are loads for free entries to museums and galleries so it is possible to have a great long weekend on a budget. Check out the Third Space cafe which opened on Valentines Day; lovely food and the nicest staff ever in a really relaxed atmosphere; if their first lunchtime rush was anything to go by, there will be queues out the door and soon they plan to open in the evening. "Great value in the centre of Dublin."
I stayed here on Sunday for 1 night and had a very good time. Walking distance from Heuston station and city centre (otherwise only 5 minutes by Luas). Very professional and friendly staff. Room was spacious and very comfortable. Good variety breakfast in the morning. I would highly recommend this hotel for short stay in Dublin.
"Average Hotel"
For the money spent, we were disappointed. The room was okay, but the mattress was old and crushed in spots. The shower had good pressure, but the shower head needed to be replaced because of the lime scale and mold. The location was good and we had no problems walking around. If the room cost less and had a newer mattress, I might be able to recommend […] this place. As is, no. It seems that they spent their money on the lobby and the eating area and forgot the rooms. The Hotel is quite nice but we had a very dodgey looking stain on the carpet between our beds. The staff were nice and in particular the gentleman who dealt with us at reception. We had dinner in the Dining Room and although the ambiance and service was very poor, the dinner when it finally arrived (after 1 hour) was excellent. The main problem with […] this hotel is parking. I was told that overnight parking would be 10.00. When I went to the car park on departure, there were serveral irate guests wandering around looking for the pay machine. To say it was impossible to find the pay station is an understatement. It took us 45 minutes from leaving the hotel to get out of the car park. When I finally located the pay station, my bill read 14.50. I pressed the help button but the response I got was most unsatisfactory. I was told the over charging had nothing to do with the car park and go back to the hotel. To go back to the hotel was such a trek, I just left it. On booking in, I had been told the car park had nothing to do with the Hotel so where do you go?? There were three other couples in the same predicament as me as we were all as mad as hell. One of them, refused point blank to pay the extra change and manged to get out without paying anything. Would never stay in the Hotel again because of the hassle with the car park. I was 45 minutes late for my appointment as a result Read more
