"Nice hotel - only a 15-20 min walk to center"
Staff was very friendly and helpfull with requests and answering questions about town. Hotel was only a 20 minute ride from the airport. The Smithfield area seems to have a good amount of young people. I'm not sure if there was a University or college near by. But across the street was the Jameson Distellery Tour and it was great! There's also a really great bar on King St. (100 yards away) called Cobblestone. Great authentic pub with live music almost nightly. I think the hotel location was perfect, just far away enough from the center to make it a bit more quite but close enough to walk to Trinity college/Temple Bar/Guinness House/St. Patrick and Dublin Zoo. There was also a LUAS (local tram) stop right by the hotel and adjacent to us was a grocery store, coffee shop and a few restaurants as well! The only down thing was the rooms did not have a mini fridge and the beds were a little stiff.

"Good European accommodations but..."
Nice hotel with pleasant staff, however, could have had better air circulation considering there is no air conditioning at the hotel. Although the temperature is cool in Ireland there was no way to circulate outside air into the room. For example we only had a very small window that opened and there was no fan. Also, beds need more pillows, as the pillows are super flat. No gym or workout room either for those wondering. There is a health club next door, but they charge way too much for a daily pass (more than 15 euros). Overall, hotel is what it claims to be a 3 star hotel.

Location of hotel is not close to the center of Dublin. There is one market next to the hotel and two or three nearby restaurants-that is it. Restaurant in the hotel is rather expensive. The beds in our room were hard and very uncomfortable. I woke up with a backache every morning. No toiletries (shampoo, conditioner, lotion) were offered in the bathroom so bring your own.

"Quiet convenient location"
Loved being on the north side of the river. was able to walk to almost all of the sites and it was much more neighborly than being in the hubbub of the center city. Would stay there again. Staff very helpful. Great food store and coffee bar next store and delightful cafes in the neighborhood.

"Good stay in Dublin"
The staff was great and the place is well maintained, with clean, comfortable rooms. I would have rated it much higher if the room had air conditioning or even a ceiling fan, but I understand it was somewhat unseasonable weather. The door to the deck did open, so that bought some relief but the neighborhood does get noisy during the night.

"Nice facility, but totally out of the way"
Overall the facilities and staff were just OK - not great, but adequate. The neighborhood was exceptionally lackluster and dead without a good number of services. The location Smithfield is far from the parts of Dublin I wanted to spend time in. I wouldn't recommend.

"Best hotel in the heart of the city"
What a great new hotel, right in the heart of the city. Five minutes walk and you're walking by the river towards Connelly Street! Very clean, very modern and genuine free-wifi, instead of most hotels attempts to rip you off for more of your money. Highly recommended. Visited from Texas.

"Perfect location"
The hotel was in the perfect location for our stay. We could walk to the main attractions within 5-10 minutes. Due to being on the skirts of the city it was quiet and a wonderful stay. The Jameson Distillery was right next door. There were 3-4 delicious restaurants on the same block. I would definitely stay here again.

No A/C or fridge but otherwise a top notch hotel. Beds were a little stiff but not bad. I wouldn't need a/c if the window opened more so it got a little warm in the room. Nice shower. 5 min walk to light rail, 10 min to airlink bus stop. Jameson museum within sight, 2 stops on light rail to Guinness house. Lots of food nearby.

"Nice hotel, spacious rooms, free WiFi"
This hotel is nice. The rooms are pretty spacious for Europe. It's in a more residential part of Dublin. It's right across from the Jameson Distillery. There are a few restaurants in the area as well as a cinema. It's about a 20-25 minute walk to many of the other attractions and museums as well as O'Connoll street. The bus stop for the airport is right around the corner, I would not recommend taking a taxi-its pretty pricey. Free WiFi, no hair dryer. Also be advised there is not an ability to control the heating or cooling in the room. It was a little toasty. Overall good experience, I would stay at the Maldron chain again.

"Good but could have been better"
Hotel was pretty easy to find with the help of a GPS unit in the rental car. Road construction near the hotel made things a little interesting getting around. Hotel staff was super friendly and helpful, no complaints there. Room was clean but bed left a lot to be desired... Flat pillows and a king bed that was made of two twins. Not sure if that is a European thing or what, but if that is the configuration of your hotel you should fasten the box springs together... Beds were overly firm and kept separating through the night. Very firm beds and felt every spring. Make sure to order your breakfast tickets the day you arrive for the next morning and save yourself 2 Euro a ticket. Food was great! Probably the best continental breakfast of our trip. Hotel was right across the square from the old Jameson distillery but was a bit of a hike from everything else. Parking does cost money and is a bit complicated to pay for... hotel validates and then you have to find a pay station for the garage.

Was an excellent stay. You need to request for a room with a view if you want one else you will have a wall to look out at (like was the case for my colleague but he didn't really care) the rooms are huge and so is the bathing area. I requested for top floor room with a view and I was provided an excellent room with a view of the city and the sun rise. Only issue I faced was with the Wifi which was very bad when using a video application like Skype. Eating at the hotel resto was great too, not expensive and I could take the meals to my room. Not forgetting to mention an excellent location for site seeing, close to Luas Red line (Smithfield stop) and with a health club adjacent to it but I preferred the morning run along the river side.

We stayed in this hotel for 4 nights during our trip to Dublin. Hotel Maldron is just about 15 minute walk to the center (so basically no need of public transport). Its situated just next to the Jameson distillery, in a modern square. There is a shop right next to the hotel, so you get fresh bakery, coffee or hot food (and many more) all day long. Room was nice and clean, and the staff of the hotel was friendly and helpful. As a big plus I would mention the kettle in the room and free range of tea and coffee. Overall conclusion - MALDRON HOTEL OFFERS AN EXCELLENT VALUE FOR MONEY YOU PAY FOR IT.

"Fair price, decent location-but rough area"
While the hotel itself did nothing inherently negative during our stay, the uncomfortable rooms coupled with it's rough neighborhood led to this less-than-stellar review. This hotel lacks both air conditioning and comfortable bedding. We stayed in this hotel for four nights, and not once was there a restful night's sleep. Due to the lack of a/c, we had the window open for virtually the entire time that we were in the room. Because of this, we were front row to all of the raucous goings on of the local neighborhood. . The room's amenities were spartan at best. The television was an old CRT model that hasn't been seen since the 90's, and the toiletries package was non-existent, directing you instead to visit a vending machine several floors away. The saving grace to the room was the free wi-fi, which has recently been integrated throughout the hotel.

"Great staff, room condition needs work."
we had a very good experience at the hotel, but there were some minor problems with the room. The carpet was stained, there were 2 out of 3 lightbulbs burned out in the bathroom, the electrical system in the room seemed underpowered, since we kept blowing fuses. "Nice hotel and food value"
Overall good hotel, convenient location, pleasent staff and good value. Room was always clean, we asked for a bigger room on a higher floor and got it, which was great. The only issue we encountered was at checkout. The front desk clerk didn't have enough cash to give us our deposit back and the front desk manager had to go downstairs to retrieve the cash. That took about 15-20 minutes. In the mean time, our taxi was waiting outside. Upon return, the front desk manager proceeded to help other guests that in the mean time gathered in the lobby and only then returned the deposit to us. Needless to say by the time we got into the taxi (30 minutes later), the driver wasn't too happy with us and charged us extra 10 Euroes. As a result of the checkout delay we also got late to the airport although we made it to the flight, it was a mad rush to get there on time. I read on previous reviews that checkout at this hotel can take a long time, but just couldn't antipate that with us prepaying in cash and being the first in line to checkout it would take 30 minutes. Other than this ordeal, i would say the hotel is a great value and would recommend it.

Hotel is a short walk from one of the stops on the Airport Link bus. It is located on a walking street-square so there is no traffic noise. Across the square is a stop for the Green Hop On / Hop Off Bus so getting to and from the hotel easily blended into our sightseeing. Next door to the hotel is a grocery store with a lovely selection of prepared foods so it was easy to organize picnics and snacks. "4 nights in Dublin"
We spent 4 nights in the Maldron Smithfield and were satisfied with the room overall. Our room overlooked a courtyard and was quiet which we appreciated after busy days sightseeing. The bed was not the most comfortable, but the room was clean and we were provided a fan upon request as the room was a little warm. The bus line long the Liffey is about 4 blocks away and the Luas is only a block away. There was a very convenient market and a couple of cafes next door for breakfast/coffee/snacks/drinks. "nice hotel in an okay area"
the hotel itself is nice and clean, and the staff is helpful but the surrounding area is not very nice and was a bit run-down (many closed down businesses, graffiti on buildings, etc). I felt safe at the hotel but we were cautious walking back to it at night. The local also advised us to take a cab back at night. A local told us that we should have stayed on "the other side of the river" which seemed true since as soon as you cross the bridge to the other side it is much nicer (also where all the tourist attractions are).

Loved everything about this hotel. Bed was great and we both slept well even though I like soft beds and my husband, firm. Pillows left a little to be desired. Customer service was the best. Check in took 3 minutes, called down for a fall and it was up in 2 mins. Only downfall was not being able to find nearby open restaurants after 9pm in the area. There is a food store right next door and they have everything. Easy walk to many places we wanted to see. Only 10 min walk to Heuston Station - That was perfect! The hotel was just okay. It was in a good location for where I wanted to be located. It's pretty much a no frills hotel, which was okay with me. The room was a little dingy. The paint was peeling on the woodwork and twice the soap dispensers were empty which leads me to believe the room cleaning staff did not pay attention to detail. The hallway smelled awful.
