"Maldron Hotel Review"
The hotel was clean and nice with very helpful staff. The internet access was lacking and the beds were not extremely comfortable. The shower window also didn't really block much of the water so the floor was soaking wet when you stepped out of the shower. However, it is in a up and coming area and right but the Tram. "Good location for price"
This is a no frills, clean place to stay. We stayed here for 3 nights. I would almost say it was a bit pricey for what you get, but I have to keep in mind that I could walk to temple bar and o'connell st. from here. You don't need a car if you stay here. We used the hop on/hop off bus tour for 2 days and got everywhere we needed to go. LUAS commuter […] train stops right by this hotel, too. First room had a plumbing problem, and the staff was helpful and moved us right away to another room. There is a hostel across the mall/park area and the kids can get noisy. Overall, it's not bad. We were so worn out after touring Dublin each day that we could have slept anywhere! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Cheap and close to temple bar"
Close to the action, staffed by great fun REAL people. Room was lacking, seemed like an older hotel. Bathroom was great. Convenient food downstairsGenuine Expedia guest review
"Not that close to sites"
Stay was okay. Had to walk a long way to major sites in city. Street and plaza directly outside of hotel was littered with garbage and was never cleaned in the 3 days we were there. A member of hotel staff should be assigned to pick up garbage in plaza as this is the first impression of hotel.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Best little hotel next to Heuston station"
American Airlines lost our luggage. Our Indian desk clerk (Miss V. as we called her) told us verbatiem how to use the Luas(tram) to get a Mall to buy clothing & what store to go to. Her professionalism & kindness will not be forgotten. We thank you so much Miss V!!!Genuine Hotels.com guest review

I was in Europe for 12 days with two of my friends and traveled to 4 different cities, Dublin being one of them. We stayed in a different hotel each night in Dublin because we also traveled to Cork. This hotel was by far the best. It was clean, easy location to find, big room, with friendly and helpful staff. I would stay in a chain hotel when traveling […] back to Europe. "Central yet quiet"
Your hotel is our base for our Dublin trips. We always enjoy our stay with you.Our only quibble would be that we requested a front room on arrival and was told that none was available. We always request a front room as the hum of the generator in the back rooms completely destroys our stay. However one of the helpful ladies on the reception sorted us […] out, thanks for that. "Not Pleased with Cleaning/Maid Service"
The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, but the maids/cleaning personnel did not actually clean up the room. The beds were re-made and the towels stocked, but nothing else was done to the room, like removal of trash (in cans), vacuuming, putting items/objects back in the original place, etc. The breakfast offered was traditional of the Irish […] and decent. My only complaint there is the beans and scrambled eggs were too cold and a health concern, really. I advice actually rejecting the hotel breakfast and walking toward Temple Bar or even O'Connell street for any food. The location was O.K., but the neighborhood of the hotel seemed sketchy when walking to the hotel from the bus upon arrival in Dublin. Very close to the Jameson Distillery, which is great for anyone interested, but not so awesome for anyone on a family vacation. Also close to tourism bus stops, which is excellent if you're on vacation and want to get around the city without walking for more than 10-15 minutes. Close to River Liffery, 10-15 minutes walk to O'Connell Street (Shopping) and Temple Bar area (restaurants and bars, some shops). 10 minutes to Dublinia. Too far away from the zoo, jail (for tours), Guinness, St. Patrick's Cathedral, and Trinity though. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice hotel, great for the money"
Very happy with our stay at our hotel. It is behind Jameson distillary, close to train stop, across from a residential building, and right next door to a very complete market. Being next to market saved us a lot of money, they had a deli for sandwiches, and fresh pastries and fruit, and pretty much anything you may need. The staff at hotel was friendly […] and accomodating. I wouldn't say the hotel is centrally located, but it was definately worth the price, and I would stay there again. "Good Value for the Price"
For what it is, this is a great place to stay and a good value. It is about a 15 min walk to Temple Bar (next time it would be nice to stay slightly closer to that area). But overall, it met my expectations- it was simple, clean, and the staff was very accomodating. If you're looking for a hip/swanky hotel, then this is not it.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice and spacious for a family"
I originally booked a triple room online, but when we found out that one more person would be joining us, I e-mailed the hotel directly and we were upgraded to a junior suite without incident. The room was very spacious and comfortable. This was a welcomed and pleasant surprise since, typically, european hotel rooms in our price range are much smaller. […] The staff was friendly and accomodating. There is a restaurant on site with a room service option as well from 6-9pm. The hotel is not centrally located to the city center, but is within walking distance, a short cab ride, or you can take the light rail. We felt safe walking to and from, even late at night. Being that the hotel is in a quieter part of town, you'll definitely want to venture to the city center where the action is with plenty of restaurants, shopping, and nightlife. "You get what you pay for..."
Our experience was not awful by any means. The staff was very helpful with answering questions and giving suggestions of the best ways to navigate the city. The restaurant food was also very good. We had breakfast both mornings and dinner one night. The dinner menu was impressive for a hotel menu. We really enjoyed our meals while watching the Euro […] Cup. The rooms were clean, but the bed was uncomfortable. The only negatives I have are 1) Shower window/door does not block water from covering the floor! 2) No soaps or wash rags were in the bathroom 3) The room was very hot; even with window open 4) Lots of construction and college students located in square--kept us up half the night 4) Cleaning staff was very loud in the mornings when cleaning neighboring rooms. Great hotel for Dublin, I kind of wish it was closer to the Temple Bar district but it was a great place to stay. After a long traveling day and arrival to the Maldron/smithfield, Dublin, from the U.S. we were told that there was an overbooking for our room and we could not stay there the first night. I had paid for this room 3 months in advance and was very upset. The Maldron paid for us to go by taxi, out of town, for the night and then return the next day for […] our two more nights. A nice gesture, including an upgrade when we returned for the next two nights, plus free breakfast. BUT, we did miss out on a previously paid pub tour because we were not close enough to town to go. All in all.....would have preferred that the Maldron didn't screw up. However, nice clean and comfy place. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Good service, well-priced & located for town"
Very helpful staff, good location for walking to all of the central sites - the hotel is across the street from the old Jameson distillery, a short walk (across the Liffey) to the Guinness Storehouse, and about 20-30 min walk from O'Connell Street, Christchurch, and other points in the center of the tourist district. Another plus, I got bumped from […] a double room up to a suite with a roof terrace, which was fantastic, so I cannot complain about the comfort of the hotel. I have only one caveat: although conveniently located, there are some industrial and fairly deserted blocks to the east between church st and around Wolf Tone St. to the East (where the pedestrian mall picks up), and along the Quay on the river Liffey to the South and just south of the river down to the Guinness Storehouse. It does not feel dangerous, just rundown and very empty at night. However, the area around the hotel itself is good/lively, and the surrounding neighborhoods are fine by day (even a kind of street market on Mary Ln.) Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Great location -- only a couple minutes walk to the Smithfield Luas station and about 10 -15 walk to the Temple Bar and O' Connell Street. "Pleasant hotel, a little off the beaten track"
The Maldron Hotel Smithfield is in the northwest area of Dublin, so it's not absolutely central to all the must-see sights, but because Dublin is a small city, it's still quite possible to walk everywhere! That's what my cousin and I did, and we did not find it to be a problem. As for the hotel itself, we had accidentally booked a standard double room […] with one bed but it turned out that the room had one large queen bed and one small twin bed anyway! It was very clean, quiet in the evenings, and overall a cozy and comfortable stay. Our room was also spacious, the bathroom very clean, and overall we were very satisfied. Only one thing, though: there was no refrigerator, which wasn't ideal because we didn't have breakfast included with our stay and had planned on buying something from the grocery store. Since our stay was only two nights anyway, we did this, but that was okay. A safe in the room would also have been nice, as I had in another hotel in the past, but I can't complain. From the airport, this hotel is easily reached with the bus Airlink 747, stop 10 or 11: Usher's Quay, and it costs 6 euros for one way, 10 euros for return trip. We originally tried looking for bus 16A or 41B, since they are cheaper even if they stop everywhere, but this worked well for us. On the way back to the airport, though, we took the Airlink 747 from Busaras Central Bus Station, because a bookshop owner around St. Stephen's Green told us he wasn't sure the bus would definitely go to Usher's Quay again on the trip from the city to the airport. Bus and Luas stations are all in easy walking distance of the hotel, though, like I said, my cousin and I just walked everywhere and that suited us perfectly fine too! Overall, this hotel worked great: clean, spacious, quiet, and still in a decent location. The staff was friendly, too--they let us use a travel adapter when mine didn't work (the plug is the same as the UK one, but my adapter for the UK is somewhat fragile), gave us excellent m Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good location right near river and guiness factory"
Although not in the very center of everything going on, a very short walk to shops, and the river. Great location considering the low price. Reception could use Improving. Some receptionists were very nice, informative and friendly; while a few were unhelpful, and extremely informative. Internet only works in hotel lobby, not in the room (which I didn't […] expect anyway), but ads for the hotel are misleading in that way. For the price it was great, clean, and good location; however it could be far more comfortable knowing that the reception were more helpful. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Great location; across the road from the Jameson Distillery and one block from a Luas train stop. "What a great surprise!"
We arrived in Dublin on a Saturday evening, and we were greeted and made to feel that all we welcome to be there. "Maldron Hotel Smithfield - Dublin Ireland"
Wonderful stay. Staff friendly and helpful. We decided to sleep really late on our last day in Dublin and they called to see if we were okay or needed anything. I booked in for 3 nights with our family to celebrate my husbands 70th b'day. The breakfast was beautifully cooked and plenty of it. Not what we'd say was a good value. The staff was very helpful and the cleaning staff did what they could, but the hotel could certainly use some investment from the owners. Since there is no ventilation in the bathroom (poor design) there is a good deal of mold. Also, the furniture and general condition of the rooms looks like it is 25 yes old, not […] less than 10. And as someone else noted, what thrift shop did they use to get those old tube TVs?!?! For the hefty price paid we expected much better. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Tired and Hot"
In a nutshell, the staff was friendly and helpful; and the facility was a little worn and uncomfortably warm. We arrived before check-in time and within an hour the front desk was able to have a room cleaned and available for us. There is a grocery store next door where you can grab a nice coffee and a snack while you wait. When we entered the room […] it was much warmer than the hallway or outdoors. There is no way to cool the room except to open a small window about two inches. When we returned from our day of exploring the city we were able to obtain a fan from the front desk. It added some relief if it blew directly on you, but sleeping was still difficult with the heat. At that point I would have gladly paid more for a room with air conditioning. "Nice hotel pretty good location."
The hotel was nice and was pretty close to most tourist stuff and the tram was just down the hill. The only bad side was no ac and there wasn't a window that opened it was a balcony outside which connected to every other one so didn't want to leave it open all night. "Good Hotel... with a but"
The Hotel is good, however, nothing special. Room was clean and the breakfast was good... but I have a few buts. It is quite fairly located, you can walk 15 mins to Dublin centre or get a Luas tram exactly next to the hotel. What I found disappointing was lack of normal things in the hotel, like shower caps, face cloths etc. (Did not ask for them, I […] have to be sincere). Would expect these things from a hotel like this. Quite a good hotel, but if these things are sorted out it would be better. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Easy to find next to the Old Jamison Distilliary"
The Hotel is in a excellent location. There is a very lovely supermarket/coffee shop next door. A cinema is located near by in an underground complex with multiple screens. Not only are the cinemas easily accessed from the hotel but the underground parking/cinemas are very, very unique. I found them to be - overwhelming. The "Generator" located on the […] old Jamison's site is excellent for winding down and dropping in for a drink when "out on the town". Access to Dublin's city centre is easy by the tram near the hotel. My wife and I found it to be an unique experience unlike any other break we ever had in Dublin. "Close to the action, but not too close."
Nice enough standard hotel. A few small suggestions: Like most other restaurants in Dublin, the hotel restaurant opens later on Sunday which is inconvenient for guests. It would also be nice if the hotel room had a small fridge to keep water, drinks etc cool. The tv seemed about 20 years old. Not a big deal but it takes up a lot of room in a small suite. […] A small flatscreen is inexpensive. I'd almost rather not have anything. On the Sunday morning we arrived, the resto was closed and we asked if there were any other places in the area that might be open. He could only think of one place, when in fact we later discovered there were lots of places. So a little more local knowledge would be helpful for first time visitors. Still, it's a pretty good hotel, and I'd recommend it. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Stayed here a number of times. Only draw back on this visit was people in room next door arguing into the small hours. Could hear every word. Reception sent someone up but the girlfriend crying/whining did not stop. When checking out reception apologised. It was not hotels fault and they gave me overnight parking for free.
