"Just okay-nothing special"
This hotel needs to be updated and get some new mattresses. The carpet was dirty and old. The staff however was very helpful and nice.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good service, well-priced & located for town"
Very helpful staff, good location for walking to all of the central sites - the hotel is across the street from the old Jameson distillery, a short walk (across the Liffey) to the Guinness Storehouse, and about 20-30 min walk from O'Connell Street, Christchurch, and other points in the center of the tourist district. Another plus, I got bumped from […] a double room up to a suite with a roof terrace, which was fantastic, so I cannot complain about the comfort of the hotel. I have only one caveat: although conveniently located, there are some industrial and fairly deserted blocks to the east between church st and around Wolf Tone St. to the East (where the pedestrian mall picks up), and along the Quay on the river Liffey to the South and just south of the river down to the Guinness Storehouse. It does not feel dangerous, just rundown and very empty at night. However, the area around the hotel itself is good/lively, and the surrounding neighborhoods are fine by day (even a kind of street market on Mary Ln.) Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Great location -- only a couple minutes walk to the Smithfield Luas station and about 10 -15 walk to the Temple Bar and O' Connell Street. There is a grocery store with a coffee shop next door which made breakfast quick and easy. It is located in a mostly residential neighborhood which was very quiet and clean. The room was a bit small but was clean […] and comfortable. I would definitely stay here again! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

Great location and a very comfortable room...well worth the price! Loved being across from Jamenson's for early morning Irish coffee before touring!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Pleasant hotel, a little off the beaten track"
The Maldron Hotel Smithfield is in the northwest area of Dublin, so it's not absolutely central to all the must-see sights, but because Dublin is a small city, it's still quite possible to walk everywhere! That's what my cousin and I did, and we did not find it to be a problem. As for the hotel itself, we had accidentally booked a standard double room […] with one bed but it turned out that the room had one large queen bed and one small twin bed anyway! It was very clean, quiet in the evenings, and overall a cozy and comfortable stay. Our room was also spacious, the bathroom very clean, and overall we were very satisfied. Only one thing, though: there was no refrigerator, which wasn't ideal because we didn't have breakfast included with our stay and had planned on buying something from the grocery store. Since our stay was only two nights anyway, we did this, but that was okay. A safe in the room would also have been nice, as I had in another hotel in the past, but I can't complain. From the airport, this hotel is easily reached with the bus Airlink 747, stop 10 or 11: Usher's Quay, and it costs 6 euros for one way, 10 euros for return trip. We originally tried looking for bus 16A or 41B, since they are cheaper even if they stop everywhere, but this worked well for us. On the way back to the airport, though, we took the Airlink 747 from Busaras Central Bus Station, because a bookshop owner around St. Stephen's Green told us he wasn't sure the bus would definitely go to Usher's Quay again on the trip from the city to the airport. Bus and Luas stations are all in easy walking distance of the hotel, though, like I said, my cousin and I just walked everywhere and that suited us perfectly fine too! Overall, this hotel worked great: clean, spacious, quiet, and still in a decent location. The staff was friendly, too--they let us use a travel adapter when mine didn't work (the plug is the same as the UK one, but my adapter for the UK is somewhat fragile), gave us excellent m Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good location right near river and guiness factory"
Although not in the very center of everything going on, a very short walk to shops, and the river. Great location considering the low price. Reception could use Improving. Some receptionists were very nice, informative and friendly; while a few were unhelpful, and extremely informative. Internet only works in hotel lobby, not in the room (which I didn't […] expect anyway), but ads for the hotel are misleading in that way. For the price it was great, clean, and good location; however it could be far more comfortable knowing that the reception were more helpful. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Great location; across the road from the Jameson Distillery and one block from a Luas train stop. Restaurant was good food but kinda expensive, there's a supermarket beside the hotel though for buying any necessities. 10 minute and around 18 euro taxi ride from the airport.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"What a great surprise!"
We arrived in Dublin on a Saturday evening, and we were greeted and made to feel that all we welcome to be there. The staff were great at reception and answered all our questions and even recommended a great restaurant for dinner. Our room was clean and comfortable. We will definitely consider staying at the Maldron again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Maldron Hotel Smithfield - Dublin Ireland"
Wonderful stay. Staff friendly and helpful. We decided to sleep really late on our last day in Dublin and they called to see if we were okay or needed anything. "Fresh" grocery next door with coffee shop. Easy access to everything, but far enough from Grafton & Temple Bar area to be quietly pleasant. Will stay there again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice place, great price. Def worth a visit"
The hotel is within a 2 min walk of the LUAS light rail, so it is very convenient to get to/from. Add another minute or two and you can be at the 747 bus stop back to the airport. Hotel is small, but it served us well. There is wifi in lobby, wired internet in rooms - both free. Some rooms have balcony which we had and it was very nice. Bed was a […] little uncomfortable but I was able to get a good night rest anyhow. THere is also a supermarket downstairs which is very convenient if you want to buy soda/snacks etc. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Enjoyed my stay here"
Super comfy the suites. The Jameson Destilety it's right across the street and the Guinness Storegouse like 10 mints walking. The Temple Bar was walking distance too and super close to the bus station to the airport & LUAS. I recommend this hotelGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good place , Good price"
This hotel is slightly out of the way and that is not a bad thing. The price was good .One minor problem was that the room was too hot .Fortunately you could open the windows.Otherwise a comfortable pleasant place near St.Michans and Jamesons'.Plus a supermarket next door.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good hotel for business or pleasure"
I was in Dublin on a business trip and moved to this hotel to stay in town for a few extra days due to the value of this hotel. The hinge of my room squeaked a lot but otherwise there were no signs of deferred maintenance. The tv was not a flat-screen, which seems to be the norm for all hotels I have stayed at this year. Also, the in-room internet is […] free but not wireless, which is also fine but not optimal. The location is not bad, with a supermarket next door and Jameson around the corner. The walk to Temple Bar is about 15 minutes, so not ideal but well worth it due to the value. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
My first impression was "Oh no, what is this area?!" However, from the moment I arrived, the front desk was friendly, courteous and helpful. My room was kept VERY clean, Fresh linen daily, and coffee/tea in room replaced. The TV worked for about a few minutes, when the picture went out. I called the front desk, and within minutes someone was in my room […] fixing it, which then was actually replaced. The convenience of having the supermarket next door, which also has a cafe, was also a plus. The LUAS is less than 2 blocks away, and easily walkable. In addition, city center is a 10 minute walk. I came home late (after 2am) a few times and was worried about the neighborhood, but was actually safe. I am a walker and could easily walk everywhere. I would definitely return to this hotel. close to the Jamison Distillery and Dublin Tour Bus Stop...walking distance to Temple Bar and the rest of Centre City Dublin. Didn't have a car and never used a taxi or a bus! Clean, new, and excellent staff...Would definetely stay here again!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good place to stay"
The staff - for the most part (one desk clerk didn't know what she was talking about with the buses)- was friendly and helpful. They kept our luggage for us as we got to Dublin very early. Their breakfast buffet was well worth it with plenty of choices. Overall a very good experience and would stay there again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Maldron Hotel Smithfield - disappointing"
Our experience at this hotel was marred by three main problems: 1) One unhelpful and rather rude front-desk staff member, whose only two pieces of information offered in response to our questions turned out to be incorrect (costing us a lot of time and frustration). 2) A shower that leaked. 3) A sub-par breakfast not worth the (high) cost.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Maldron Smithfield Dublin"
Great hotel for the price in a "gentrifying" neighborhood in Dublin. Easy walk to "downtown" and buses. Room very clean and quiet. Free Wifi accessible in common areas. This was my first time in a Maldron hotel and i'll now seek them out.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Decent location, good price"
Located close to the old Jameson distillery, the hotel was conveniently only a 10 to 15 minute walk from the Temple bar area. The room was maintained to a high standard and the service was good. The price was also reasonable.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
My room was opposite the lift so was noisy due to the amount of guests using the lift, but also my room had an adjacent room with shared door and neighbour guests were very noisy. If adjacent rooms are required then they need to be more soundproof soft when then they are used for guests who are not togetherGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good quiet location"
Getting from the airport to the hotel is easy just get on the Airlink 747 and get off at stop 12 and cross the river and walk up the road. If you get a 3 day freedom bus pass you can use this bus and the sightseeing bus and works out good value. The hotel room as a bit basic and dated, I haven't seen a square CRT TV for years! You can get breakfast […] at the big deli style supermarket next door. Right next to Jameson Distillery so the sight seeing bus its right opposite so you can get that or you can walk to Temple Bar area in 15 minutes. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

could not find our booking when we arrived thank god i have phone with email on it as i dont think we would have gotten in. In Hindsight we should have just left and found other accommodation. The hotel is clean - but that is about all that is good about it. The beds are very uncomfortable. Dinner was overprices and horrible. Should not have been served. "An overnight at the Maldron Hotel, Smithfield."
We stayed at the Maldron Hotel prior to Christmas due to its central city location and proximity to the Smithfield Luas Stop. It is a five minute walk from the Luas Stop and at the end of the Smithfield Plaza, on the right. It is only a few stops from the centre of the city and convenient to the main shopping areas, restaurants and entertainment venues. […] Our room on the 5th floor was noise free and comfortably warm. We were able to leave our baggage in storage after checkout to be collected later which suited our christmas shopping arrangements. We will be returning to the Maldron in early January to check out the New Year Sales. The staff at the Maldron were most helpful and pleasant and we would recommend a stay there without hesitation. The Maldron Hotel in Smithfield is a really nice hotel. Its in the perfect location as its about a 5-10 minute walk to the centre of Dublin. The hotel was clean, it had comfy beds, nice bathroom. The TV is very 90's but its only a hotel. Depending on where your room is it can be very noisy at night as kids hang around outside the hotel causing quite […] a bit of noise. "twas all good really"
the staff were very nice and couldn't of been more helpful if they tried. the hotel room was very comfy and clean and the location for us was fantastic ( we had a few things to do in the area). The luas stop is just 20 seconds from the hotel and takes just a few mins to get to jervis street... or about ten mins walk if you like. Everything would of […] been perfect apart from the fire alarm sounding in the middle of the night... but in fairness, it only beeped once and I doubt it was done on purpose. they were very apologetic for that so hey, it was all good. the neighbourhood has a few...."drunken" folk.... "Maldon Hotel Smithfield Dublin"
This hotel is situated a little way out of the centre and about a 10-15 minute walk. We were put in room 223 on the first night but although the room itself was okay the radiator in the room made a terrible noise all night which kept us awake but when reported to staff in the morning they quickly dealt with the issue and moved us into another room, […] which although had a similar problem was not as noisy so able to deal with it. I was disappointed with the breakfast as although we did not purchase this in with the price we tried it the first morning we were there and there was a full Irish breakfast on offer but it was not very warm which put my son and I off having it again. The staff were very good and helpful throughout our stay so no complaints on that front but our over all experience of this hotel was it was okay but not to be rushed back to. "I got a good nights sleep"
Not a bad hotel. I'd been staying at a lot of places with a lot more personality (castles, B&Bs), so this was the only chain hotel I'd booked, but it was nice, clean. My balcony had a great view. My GPS had a breakdown trying to send me down some train tracks and a pedestrian mall to the hotel front door - their drop off is bit tricky if you don't know […] the area, so I recommend printing a map or doing a google street view in advance to get the lay of the land first. The hotel is near the touristy stuff, and I had no complaints. A grocery store next door was a good source of cheap food (they also had a bank machine tucked in at the back). I got a good nights sleep, which was a first. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
