Excellent friendly staff, wonderful wait staff, quiet and peaceful surroundings, an oasis in the Sequoias. one thing, need a softer bed selection, a little firmer than used to.

Although my husband and I only stayed one night here we were so impressed with both the faciites and the staff. The staff were so courteous and efficient and the facilites were of a high standard offering comfort and cleanliness. We would definitely stay here again if we return the area.

Wanted a place to stay in Sequoia National Park and found this place - we couldn't have asked for a better stay. They were right in the heart of the park, very close to all the trees and major trails. The rooms were comfortable, the staff was friendly, and the food was tasty. All in all, a great trip, and I'd definitely stay there again.

Outside of camping, Best location in the park. Visited in February. Staff was polite and very accomodating. Room was clean but shows some wear and tear which is to be expected considering it has to survive all the seasons. Would come back again.

The place is rustic. If you are hunting for luxury this is not the place. There is a walk to the buildings with the rooms from the parking lot, so be prepared. A comfortable hotel with plenty of room for our family of 4. Restaurant was child friendly - medium priced. It's in a beautiful spot right in the National Park and very close to the General Sherman tree. The kids had a lot of fun playing in the snow at the hotel.

This is one of the only places to stay in the park so the location is unbeatable. The rooms are fine...old small tvs with very few channels but chances are if you're going to Sequoia its not to watch tv anyway. The restaurant is nice but over priced. Overall we would stay again.

Room size good for family of 4. Value for money. Nestle in the woods. Wonderful feel of nature. Better road signs at foot of mountain and along the General Highways to indicate directions of hotel will be helpful as we arrived late in the evening and nearly got lost, so was another car who lost their way.

It's basically a motel. Not bad. During the winter, all of the snow and ice on the walkways makes navigation a bit challenging, particularly getting baggage from the parking lot up the hill to the rooms.

Everything is fine but the Wi Fi wasn't working in the room most of time. It works in the cafe or booking office. No cell phone signal anywhere. Staff was very friendly. Cafe is very nice and u can see the redwood trees through the store front glass windows at the cafe. 4:00 pm. Check in time is a little bit too late.

We went up on Christmas day and stayed for two days. It was snowing like crazy. Quite enjoyable for everyone, except the rooms are a walk from the lodge. With three very small children it seemed too long of a walk to take every day (and especially at night) to get something to eat at the lodge. At check out, we found out you can actually call the front […] desk and have someone pick you up!!! Wish they had told us ahead of time. Also, after a day or two, the kids got tired of the same menu at the restaurant (with the snow storm it was hard to go anywhere else to eat). Plan ahead and bring your own snacks and drinks just in case. You can buy these items at the lodge, but its VERY expensive. With all the learned lessons in hand, we would return again!!! Read more

Great location in the middle of Sequoia NP. Really the only game in town at this late part of the season (last week of October). The rooms were neat and very clean. The lodge consists of one main building with restaurant and small gift/food shop, and three buildings of guest rooms. At the altitude the walk to to and from the lodge will be tough for […] older folks and those out of shape. Restaurant is about the only source of dining at this point in the year. The food is good, but not great. The prices are high ($18 for a hamburger and fries at dinner time...but a BIG burger). The dining staff was haphazard in their attentiveness and disorganized in their service. Overall, I was very happy with the room and the food situation only because it was about the only choice for this highly desirable location. Service really left something to be desired...front desk male staff was very rude to my husband. We waited for almost an hour for our room to be cleaned. I was reminded that we had a STANDARD room, as if that was subpar. When we finally got our room keys, THEN the desk clerk asked if we'd like some coffee....really? This was a wonderful stay for us and is a perfect location for visiting the park. The room was simple but clean and functional. Saw Mule Deer outside our lodge every day...the lodge is very comfortable and has a bar and seating area where you can relax before or after dinner. There are hiking trails that start right at the lodge and they will prepare a good box lunch for about $13 if you make a request the night before. (Tip: choose the kids meal, good lunch and its about $9) This is a lodge in a very remote location and frankly I was impressed how good it was considering the logistics of the place. Its not a Hilton, but its a great location at a good price. We'll be going back, and staying here for sure, nothing else in the park looked as nice and it's got the best location in my opinion. These are nicely appointed cabins not a hotel. There is no A/C. The window fans cool the room an hour after sun sets in the evening, but are not near enough to keep the rooms cool during the day. Summer the room temps are 10+ degrees above the outside temp. The views are spectacular. The bears are active in the parking lots at night (bring everything […] inside as suggested and don't eat in the vehicle at all or you will be paying for a new car). Paying for the scenery? The room was clean, the beds comfortable. Portable AC units in the rooms or at least the halls would help the value of the trip.The restaurant is a rip off. Bring sandwiches and forget the high dollar meal. Value disappointing, service staff B for effort, most summer kids camps have better service. The rates charged are insane. The hotel should have been priced 50% less and the restaurant should be closed. Eat in the room and save yourself the aggravation of the restaurant. Too many tables in the restaurant and you bump into each other getting up. Removing 6/10 tables would help. The chef/cook needs to learn to cook the food. Medium Well does not mean burned charred on half the steak. Over all score 3, deal with the hot rooms and stinky refrigerator 4, take out the restaurant disappointment would move it to a 5. I'm reluctant to give this hotel 3 stars because it only deserves 2 1/2. The lobby and restaurant are fine. In fact the restaurant food is very good but service is slow. The hotel bldgs & rooms are where they miss the boat on many levels. We were in the Stewart Bldg. but they look to be all the same. No matter where you park you will have a fairly long […] walk to the entrance which is in the back. You can't drive to the back. The path leading to the entrance of our building could have been much more direct but wasn't. Just plain bad planning...and it could be rectified. The rooms are on a par with Motel 6. Dismal wall color; dismal insufficient lighting; torn curtains and chair covers; plastic in- window fan that you must leave the drapes open or it will be covered; no micro wave in the rooms; not even access to a communal microwave. I wanted to heat some Trader Joe's soup I had brought on the warming plate of the in-room coffee pot.....but it had none. It was an insulated carafe....so no dice. And of course their restaurant is the only game in town. There is no deli, or casual cafe in the complex. Ditto for breakfast. Two choices. Their restaurant or drive to the Logepole Village .6 miles away to a market/cafe...but no wait, that place doesn't open there till 9 a.m. I say this to emphasize the need for microwaves for guests. To not offer them is inexcusable as is the awful bedding. The bottom sheets are flat...not fitted. They pull out. Spreads are wrinkled and ugly. Read more

Wonderful place! Excellent food and service. Conveniently located inside the park. Very relaxing. The only downside is the WiFi is not dependable. Other than that, I would highly recommend this place to anyone... I know we'll be back.

For the price paid I expected a little more comfort and ambience. The bed covers were stained and dusty although the sheets were clean. The room was dark. The bathroom was clean but a fan at the window (no airconditioning) was a constant noise all night. I have stayed at better Super 8 Motels.

Beautiful location near the Giant Forest area of Sequoia NP. 90 minute drive from South entrance so plan accordingly. Rooms have that NP rustic woodsy appeal but are very clean and quiet. Comfortable mattress. Nice bathroom. Have to walk a bit from the parking area to reach room though and I didn't see an elevator. Request a room that doesn't involve […] stairs if you need it. Luggage carts provided for trek from parking lot but best to pack light! Staff very professional and knowledgeable. Dinner requires reservations. Call one day ahead to reserve if you want dinner the night of your arrival, otherwise you'd better bring take out. A bit pricey but decent menu (and wine) and the setting can't be beat. Packed in own breakfast and made coffee in room to help the pocketbook. Lodge offers lunch boxes for hikers (must request prior evening) if you didn't bring your protein bars! Don't leave any food or liquids (including H2O) in parked car however due to hungry and curious bears (and yes, they are very adept at breaking into automobiles if they smell food!). Highly recommend this place. Gorgeous scenery and relaxing atmosphere. Great hiking for all fitness levels. Will definitely return. Open year round but chains required in winter. Read more
