We stayed in the Hotel's apartment which was very nice, however, due to the close proximity of the bars and restaurants (the apartments are not in the hotel, but a few blocks away), we were kept awake by loud revelers until 3-4 a.m. on Friday and Saturday night. The Odinsve is in a prime location- awe from bustling bars but within a short distance to all of the local sights and restaurants. Booking the hotel one might not realize that the hotel's apartments are not on site of the hotel and are instead a few blocks away making it difficult to receive or have any of the hotel services one might expect. This lack […] of proximity makes the apartments best for longer term independent stays and not for travelers looking to be doted upon. In general, the hotel is much like a college dormitory with a bar and breakfast room that doubles as a restaurant at night. The food is sub-par and breakfast is indeed a disappointment. The hotel needs refurbishment and the youthful inexperienced staff lacks polish and ability to meet the needs of business travelers and or more sophisticated vacationers in need of specific amenities. Had a very enjoyable time. Hotel close to many restaraunts, stores, and night life. Bus for excursions are only a few blocks away, most picking you up curbside your hotel. Be aware of the cost of things in Iceland. Food, beverage, and just about everything else is some of the most expesive I have seen in my travels. The hotel was wonderful and the staff was even better. Anything you needed they were ready to help. They made reservations for us and confirmed all of our tours. They made wonderful suggestions that turned out terrific. It is older and quaint but very clean and charming. We had access to an outside area directly from our room and a view of the cathedral […] that was only several blocks away. The shower is a bit tight but if you stand sideways it works. There was plenty of hot water and amenities. If you are in Iceland during the "pub crawl" season ( we were not) The Odinsve is not on the main strip so it is much quieter. Great location, decent hotel. Hotel is located minutes from the Hallgrimskirkja church and the shopping street of Skolavurdustigur. Very easy to walk around most of Reykjavik's sights from here.

One of the best things about Hotel Odinsve is the restaurant attached, SNAPS. It seems to be quite trendy right now but we never had any trouble getting in and the food is fantastic and the waitstaff superb. Hotel Odinsve is charming and located right in the midst of Reykjavik 101 so it is just a short walk to shops and the harbor, Tjorinn, restaurants […] (although we ate always at SNAPS). The breakfast is more than adequate and the waitstaff again superb and the breakfast room is lovely with lots of plants almost a greenhouse. Our room was of simple and tasteful decor with plenty of room for the two of us. Hallgrimskirkja was framed in our windows and the bells sound every 15 minutes (stopping at 9:00pm); we got so we liked it and then finally didn't notice it. The desk clerks vary and some were fantastic and others abrupt but this happens everywhere. Hotel Odinsve is small and lovely and a great alternative to huge hotel chains. The overall stay was comfortable. My room was extremely small and the bed was a single. The furniture and fixtures throughout were quite dated. A bit overpriced for the quality of the room but parking was convenient on the city streets and free until 10am local time. The location of the hotel is ideal for touring the city as well.

The check in and out was efficient and friendly, the room I had (403) was on the top floor, corner, with a balcony overlooking Reykjavik. The room was light-filled, airy and spotlessly clean. Great location is an great little city. Hotel rooms were small but comfortable and clean. We had a Junior Suite - which meant a small double with a smaller sitting room attached. Bathroom small. Only problem we had was street noise in our first floor room - we were above the bar/restaurant too - though noise stopped at 11pm-Midnight. TV channels in […] English, WIFI worked quickly and well. We visited the Blue Lagoon on the way from the airport, which was refreshing and fun. Use the FlyBus service - they are terrific. For excursions around Iceland and trips to the airport they will even pick you up from the hotel in a mini-bus to take you to the main bus station. Restaurants can be pricey, but food is fresh and very good. Air and tap water is almost pure. Icelanders are a healthy people. Very Scandinavian in feel. Visit The Geyser and the Gull Foss waterfalls through Reyjavik Excursions - which can be booked through the hotel. Bring rainwear just in case! Read more

The location is great! Two short blocks from the main downtown streets lined with shops and restaurants, but far enough away that the hotel is quiet. Walk or take a short cab ride to anything worth seeing in Reykjavik. The front desk staff is very friendly and helpful, and they speak English well. Some reviews call the hotel “luxury” and “boutique.” […] Not having seen other hotels in Iceland, I can’t say how it stacks up to those, but by US standards I’d give it a 3 out of 5. Still a good value. I had a “standard single" -- other rooms and floors may be different, but the second floor carpet showed wear and tear. Wood window casings everywhere in Iceland have peeling paint. There was a big window for lots of light (and view of the neighbors), but only a small section opened for ventilation and that was covered when you closed the curtains. Even the heavier curtain wasn’t really a “black out curtain” so be prepared to sleep in some light during the summer. The bathroom was compact and shower tiny. Bed was very comfortable. Décor was simple with a small wardrobe, desk, chair, night table. No place to put a suitcase except on the floor. There was an electric teapot, but the outlets are on the baseboard, so you have to plug it in on the floor. Old TV that I didn’t turn on. No in-room safe in my room. Breakfast buffet was extra. Book the night before to avoid sitting in the lobbly forup to 6 hours. Or go straight from the airport to the Blue Lagoon and arrive at the hotel at 2PM!

We rented an apartment there. It was about two blocks away from the main hotel. It was clean, spacious, and it made cooking meals very easy. The apartment was well stocked in the kitchen with pans, dishes, silverware, glasses. There was a microwave, small oven, dishwasher, etc. The view from the upstairs was amazing. Some years ago I stayed at Hotel Odinsve during semi-annual trips to Iceland. It has not changed much in 10 years, prompting my only real concern: updates are needed in bathrooms and telephone system. But the hotel is still warmly welcoming and it is very near the downtown areas of Reykjavik.

Very good hotel in an excellent location. My fiance and I both agreed that when we return to Reykjavik, Hotel Odinsve is the place to stay. We needn't look anywhere else. It is within easy walking distance of everything, yet in a quieter location than many of the other hotels we scouted out while in Reykjavik. One tip would be to book the Deluxe Double. […] We originally booked a suite with a separate sitting room, but switched to the Deluxe Double upon arrival. The bathroom was much nicer and the Deluxe Doubles are on the higher floors, giving a much better view. Also, the Deluxe Doubles have a couch and a chair, so in effect, you have a separate area to sit anyway. The location is perfect, right in the center of town. Hallgrímskirkja is right up the hill next to the hotel. Tjörnin (The Pond) is a 10 minute walk. I would definitely stay here again.

All of the front desk staff spoke English well and went out of their way to be helpful. They made restaurant reservations for us and phone calls with respect to our rental car.
