On a peninsula overlooking scenic Waitemata Harbour, Auckland CBD is not only the country’s major business centre, but plays host to a concentration of artistic and cultural venues in addition to nightlife precincts. In more recent years, much of the waterfront has been reclaimed for high-end residential apartments, trendy cafes and bars, marinas, and public recreational use.

After my 14 hour flight, I arrived at this hotel in Auckland at 8:00 am. They said that I was far too early for check-in, but that they would be happy to accomodate me and let me check-in, anyway. The front desk said the spectacular, habor-view room I would enjoy wouldn't be available for another hour so they suggested I go to the roof-top pool while they sent breakfast up to me. They even provided space for me to quickly get a swimsuit from my luggage before they collected it to be delievered to my room. I then heard her call housekeeping and say that the room I was to move into was now #1 priority to get ready. Now that's what I call service.

Well located close to the Skytower and within a 5 minute walk (unfortunately uphill on the way in) of bus pickup points on Queen St for the airport link and free circular buses. The Superior double room was very well furnished with an unexpected sink/cooking area and crockery/cuttlery (but no bowls!) and the general service very good, we really enjoyed a meal in the hotels atmospheric restaurant but check the prices you are happy to pay first. Internet access relatively expensive but an Esquire coffee house with free wifi is just up the road near the Skytower. Got a reasonable weekend deal via hotel.com so was really good value for the money and I'd definitely stay there again.
