The staff had a great attitude and were very helpful in giving us ideas about how to see Auckland. They gave great directions which not all hotels have done! This saved us a lot of time and made the visit to Auckland a nice one. Jennifer even personally walked us to an ice cream shop when we were trying to find the famous Hokey Pokey ice cream. The Valet parking for the hotel is not only expensive ($24USD/day), it is hidden. If you use a GPS or the Internet to go to the hotel's address, you will find yourself on a busy street with no parking. You must know the secret back alleys to go to drop-off. To make matters worse, you must run in the front doors, up an escalator, through a lobby of a […] restaurant, and to the back of the building to find the secret. This is the second time that using a booking site seems to mean that the hotel gives you the worst room possible that meets the description. The room was tired, not that clean, wardrobe smelled of mould. Was also overlooking a bar across a narrow lane.

The hotel is in an excellent position in Auckland - on the main street of the CBD. Our room was ok except for the fact that, although there was sufficient hanging space, there not a drawer or shelf to put anything. When we mentioned this at Reception they did not seem aware of it or realise the inconvenience.Luckily we were only staying for two nights. […] There was also a problem with the a/c system in that it kept jumping to 'heat' - which was very uncomfortable in the middle of the night! The staff said they had fixed it, but this was not so. Also the a/c in the lobby was not working and apparently had been like this for several days. In all fairness, when there seemed to be a rowdy party going on in the room next to ours after midnight, and we complained, this was dealt with swiftly. Read more

CityLife Auckland make it look so easy to run a hotel. I left the hotel wondering how so many other hotels around the world, including many of the 5 Star hotels, make it look so hard...

I bought my Grand daughter up from Christchurch for a break in the holidays 2 days we loved it right in town close to public transport,the staff were very helpful and polite.THANKYOU ALL for making our stay so enjoyable,my granddaughter talks about it and loved it .We will certainly return again.

Arrived mid day showed to our suite where we had a noise problem, was immediately moved whilst they investigated the problem. Lovely spacious room on the 19th floor, although not sure if the decor is dated or if its he style! . The reception staff, manager and concierge staff could not have done anything more in making our stay a really pleasurable […] one. If anything let this hotel down was the breakfast, very poor choice, no fresh bread only toast bread and the choice of cold cuts were very poor not at all value for money at $25 each. Great location for city tour, walking distance to the sky tower and harbour. Would use this hotel again. Read more

Cleanliness was fantastic. I travel a lot and hotel bathrooms can be horrible but no problems at CityLife Auckland for this. Also great service from staff. Especially a room service staff member who actually engaged in conversation - this is rare!

Extremely pleasant with the bed so comfortable. All staff very helpful with service of high quality. Our room was cleaned to perfection with fresh sheets and towels everyday. A gym and pool is available for those who are interested. A lovely restaurant is available for all meals. It was a 10 minute walk to the ferry terminal with another 5 minute stroll […] to a variety of restaurants along the Viaduct. Excellent hotel, very comfortable, highly recommended. We had a suite with separate bedroom, and an adjoining single room for two teenaged kids. This gave us two separate bedrooms, two bathrooms, a full kitchen with stove, microwave, full size fridge, dishwasher, plus washer and dryer. Lounge area also had a dining table. The online photos truly represented […] what you got (not a wide-angle lens photo making it look bigger than it really was). Plenty of room for a family of 4 and although there were cheaper hotels, when you consider you would need to pay for 2 rooms anywhere else, it was actually good value. Plus, if you're watching the budget you can cook your own meals and do your own laundry in the room. Rooms are modern, clean, everything works, aircon was great on hot humid Auckland days. Staff were very friendly and helpful, valet parking guys were great. You do need to factor in the extra cost of parking ($35) but you would need to pay this at any hotel in the CBD for about the same price and self-parking in the city is about the same. Location is excellent, right on Queen Street, walk to everything and a couple of mini-markets close by including a New World. I did a lot of research before picking this hotel, I wanted reasonable value, but also none of the hassles I saw in reviews of other hotels. City Life Hotel delivered entirely, for the 4 of us it was a very very comfortable base for a week's holiday. I'd definitely recommend it, and would definitely stay there again. Read more

Quiet upper floor room, reasonable view: open windows a plus on a warm day. Quick elevators. Shopping on the doorstep in Queen Street! Shame the restaurant was closed over the Christmas New Year period.

You cant go wrong with this location, right off queen street, Auckland main drag, you're literally right there in the best spot. The entrance way to the hotel lobby is a little convoluted but once inside the staff were friendly and helpful. Room key only access to elevators means you're extra secure. The hallways seemed dark and uninviting and we had […] cleaning carts left out on floor the entire length of stay. Premier room was a good size, large clean bathroom and decent TV. The heavy cotton bed sheets and pillows were awesome and we slept very well. You can pay extra for wired internet from your room, which i find unacceptable, this isn't the dark ages and the room wasn't exactly cheap, i expected free WiFi. Read more

Great location right on Queen Street, easy walking distance to many locations including Sky Tower and Viaduct area. We had a 2 bedroom apartment which was very spacious, very clean.
