It was a pleasant, clean and modern place to stay before we left Italy the next morning. The free shuttle service to the airport was a nice perk. The evening reception desk person was very friendly and also gave us great advise of a good place to eat in the area.

All in all a great little B&B. Only small annoyances location on main street a bit loud, internet when it did work: it was very slow. Housekeeping only available before 12pm. So if you are not out of your room by then you won't have toilet paper, fresh towels etc. Good perks free snacks and and drinks.

My wife and I went to Rome after a few nights in Paris. We were pleasantly surprised by how comfortable the room felt. Was a little tricky to find, but... once we arrived they staff was very nice. Told us to leave everything and they will take it up. The hotel is a boutique style and the bed is a large queen (which is hard to find in Europe). Heated floors in the bathroom and a great bath tub. We did get the morning breakfast at the top floor one morning. Really good, try cook you eggs and coffee or lattes. The view from the roof is great as well even in the winter. I would recommend this hotel. Also it's by the clolsseum and the Spanish steps so that was a plus too. by a Hotels.com guest on 01/10/13

The Inn at the Roman Forum Colosseum - Roman Forum

A short guide to Colosseum - Roman Forum

The heart of Ancient Rome, all roads led to the Forum. Visitors flock here to walk the streets where Julius Caesar once trod when this was the centre of commercial, political and judicial life. Nearby, the Colosseum, described by Lord Byron as 'the gladiators' bloody circus', is the world's most famous amphitheatre and the most impressive of all Rome's buildings and ruins.

This hotel should not be rated 5 star. We stayed in many 5 stars hotels and this hotel is definitely not of that category. Expedia should not represent this a five star hotel as this is misleading. The staff at check-in were courteous and the lady upon check-out the next morning got a phone call and simply kept talking to her friend on the phone for […] more than 10 minutes. I eventually left to take care of other business. Read more

The hotel and the staff were excellant. The only thing I can complain about is our bed, which was uncomfortable (much like a cot mat). Everything else was wonderful, from the location, to the ambiance, etc.

I picked the Inn at Roman Forum because I wanted to be in Old Rome near the sights like Forum, Colosseum etc. The location of Inn at Roman Forum is fantastic. A short walk to Colosseum, Forum and the underground subway. Also, an easy walk to Fountain Trevi. We pretty much walked everywhere. The furnishings in the rooms were lovely and the staff was […] great! Ruby had great recommendations on restaurants and even made reservations for us. She also gave good advice on how best to get to places. The hotel is on the expensive side, but it has great atmosphere - in an old narrow street, away from crowds, and yet close to all the sights. From the outside, the entrance looks like a small pensione, but inside it is a well appointed place. Read more

I booked this hotel for 9 days for my honeymoon and am very happy that I did. I'll start with the positives. First off, the staff was extremely courteous and helpful. They went out of their way to make sure we were taken care of from the minute we walked in until the day we left. The next important aspect that stood out is its location. We were literally […] a 5 minute walk to the Colosseum which was next to the Metro. From the Metro, we were able to connect to basically all of the major tourist attractions in Rome. This was a huge plus. Now I will state the negative aspects. Although not a big deal, it still needs to be addressed. The Inn at the Roman Forum isn't a big fancy hotel but it is an actual inn. There's not that many rooms and ours was actually in a different building (still very close though). The only downsides were that the bed was supposed to be king size but actually it was just two full mattresses pushed together and the jacuzzi didn't work. On a few occasions, our telephone line had to be reset. It was well decorated, comfortable, and had a nice sense of intimacy that you wouldn't get from a big hotel. The complimentary breakfast buffet was amazing as was the server. In conclusion, it felt like a 4-star hotel but with 5-star service and I don't regret booking with them. Read more

We were not particularly pleased with the hotel. Fortunately, the hotel offered us a move to another property, Inn at Spanish Steps. The move was not related to our dissatisfaction rather we agreed to help the hotel with an over booking issue. The replacement hotel was much superior. The Inn at the Forum is still under renovation. The rooms are cramped […] and the bathroom is really small. For the price we paid I expected more. The staff was courteous and helpful. From a location persepctive the Inn at the Forum is well positioned to access the Forum. It is considerable walking distance to shopping. The Inn at Spanish Steps is right in the middle of the shopping district. There are several nice restaurants within walking distance of the Inn at the Forum. The photo does not come close to accurately representing the property. The hotel is accessed via a dingy, dark side street. Read more

Me and my new wife stayed at the inn for three nights as part of our honeymoon. It was amazing. Not only was the hotel staff extremely helpful, but the location couldn't have been better. We would definitely reccomend this hotel to anyone, but even more so for couples looking for a romantic getaway. My wife is a former interior designer and was impressed […] by the level of style offered by the establishment. Our only complaint was the lack of free Internet in our room, even though it is free in the lobby. Read more

My wife and I spent six nights recently at the Inn at the Roman Forum. It is a wonderful small, boutique hotel. The staff was extremely helpful and very knowledgeable. The location couldn't be more perfect for walking around and seeing the city. It was, quite simply, wonderful.

Hotel staff was very pleasant and helpful. Location is great for the Forum. A bit far for the Vatican if that is your primary interest. Hotel room lighting is romantic versus practical. Might want to bring a flashlight to read up on places you plan to visit the following day. Would stay there again especially during late spring and early fall to take […] advantage of the roof top bar and view. Be sure to look at the hotel website to see photos of the street as it is a bit confusing upon arrival. You do need to walk up steps to access the hotel front door which is very unassuming. A fairly easy 5-8 minute walk down hill from Metro Cavour with a GPS or Google Maps for specific directions and light rolling luggage. Read more

A very pleasant place to stay with good service, a generous breakfast, and a nice happy hour with good hors d'heuvres. I would go back because it is convenient location and the staff was consistently attentive throughout the stay. The breakfast offering and happy hour daily were also of good quality and therefore saved us us money at both ends of the […] day. One small area for growth: Font desk folks are young, energetic and helpful, but they are not that knowledgable about Rome or how to get something fixed in a room, That did not detract from our stay, but I mention it for their benefit. This was the best hotel we stayed at during our honeymoon in Rome. The location was phenomenal. Only a short walk from the Colosseum and Ancient Rome and near a Metro station. It was also cool to get a look at the ancient ruins located right inside the hotel. The Inn was situated on a regular neighborhood street and honestly, you wouldn't have known […] it was a hotel. The roof terrace had an awesome view. They offered free wifi and there was a free snack buffet from 6-8pm which helped us save money as we had that for dinner on 1 occasion. The currency exchange rate is terrible for the dollar so this was a help! I would highly recommend this hotel. Read more

A lovely, clean, friendly hotel centrally located in ancient part of the city. Arrived at the entrance and was greeted with a cold glass of juice and a friendly staff. The linens are actually LINEN. The room was certainly big enough and the beds comfortable. Our concierge was extremely helpful, pleasant and knowledgeable. I believe his name for Giovanni. […] The breakfasts were spectacular with a vast array of pastries, quiche, fresh fruit and the fresh made cappuchino was to die for. Breakfast on the terrace was so pleasant with a view of the city. Central to the ancient ruins, and convenient to the metro for longer forays, the hotel is located in an interesting and quiet residental neighborhood. Restaurants, gelaterias, pizzerias around every corrner, and felt safe just wandering around. Read more

Tucked in the ancient ruins of the Forum, this hotel felt like we were entering a private home. With only 12 rooms spread over 4 floors it was intimate and close to the Colosseum, the Forum and many other ancient attractions, not to mention 2 metro stations. In previous reviews, I noticed people were weary of the graffiti that decorated or denigrated […] the area, but unfortunately graffiti is global. In other words, don't judge the location by the scribbles of dribble. For Rome, the room was a decent size and the bathroom not too small. Our bed was old and in need of repair, but the view out to the inner walled garden made up for it. On the 4th floor you will find the suites, the breakfast room and the outdoor terrace with the partial view of ancient Rome. If you're looking for the large American style hotel with a bar and restaurant you won't find it here. Instead you will find the girls who run the reception and the concierge desk to be friendly and helpful, and the young man who made breakfast each day polite and accommodating. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. Read more

We were greeted with two cool drinks upon check in. The staff was fluent in English and quite helpful and the hotel was just around the corner from the Roman Forum and the Colessium just beyond. The Italian breakfast each morning was terrific as was the little party each afternoon […] on the rooftop veranda overlooking Rome. We ended our nights on the veranda sipping drinks taking in the view of Rome. Our trip was great but the hotel was the cherry on top of the cake. Read more

It is an Inn, not a hotel. It is small and does not have the things you expect from a hotel: large lobby, bar, room service. We had a lovely room, quite large but in an adjacent building (not inside then Inn) where other residents live. So, it sometimes smelled of food and we had to push the stollers out of the way in the entrance to get to the stairs […] to access our room. Bathroom on the small side (2 people cannot be in at the same time). The temperature in Rome was exceedingly hot and humid and the A/C in our room could not keep up. Those were the disappointing part. But the staff goes out of their way to accommodate us. Excellent service. Mario is fantastic. Good location. Breakfast is good. Read more

The hotel is quite small but very nice, in a great location within walking distance of many of the significant attractions in historic Rome. Staff are responsive, attentive, and very friendly. European hotels can be a bit of a disappointment sometime, even four-star ones. We loved the Inn at the Forum, not only did it have a good location but the staff is awesome! We try to make trips yearly somewhere out of the states and are thrilled to pass on names of great places to stay. We love a clean and well-appointed room and bathroom. Inn at the […] Forum could be a five-star in our opinion. And, to boot, complimentary breakfast, afternoon coffee and tea, and light evening snack.LOVED IT! You wouldn't know it was there, as it is part of a residential neighborhood. There are only twelve rooms, The roof has an actual garden with grass and nice sitting area. There is a separate roof area with delightful views of the city. We found a homemade ice cream shop close by, a little square with fountain that the locals gathered in the evening to visit. There are restaurants, little bodegos with wine, fruit, cheese and other goodies. The shopping is within walking distance and has something for anyone's taste. We would love to return. Ciao! Read more

We stayed in this hotel for our honeymoon. It turned out to be the perfect choice. The hotel is situated in the middle of the Ancient Rome and no more than 10 minutes walk away from any of the main attractions. It is a little quieter around the hotel than the main part of Rome but this was perfect for us on our honeymoon as we were able to find some […] wonderful little romantic restaurants. The location is not the only asset this hotel is. I can not fault the service or staff. Nothing was too much trouble. The room and its facilities were exceptional. The breakfast is generous and drinks are served with a buffet in the evening and the bar has a roof garden with a fantastic view of the city. We stayed for 2 nights and found it to be a nice hotel. We thought the breakfast was very nice and really liked the outside terrace. This Hotel is in a quiet side street, as the name suggests, just across from the Forum and 5 minutes' walk from the Coliseum. This is the only Hotel in Rome with access to its own ruins which are fascinating. The rooms are […] very comfortable, service of the highest order and staff very helpful. The roof terrace and bar are a must, especially for the evening buffet that is free if you are drinking at the bar. There were a couple of minor imperfections that I pointed out in the customer survey and I received a quick reply apologising and explaining what had happened. I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough. Read more

The hotel location could not be better - right in the heart of Rome but set back from the noise and bustle of the main roads. The hotel staff were friendly and extremely helpful. Our rooms were comfortable, well equipped and with the benefit of air conditioning. The only downside is that the rooms lack sunlight because of the courtyard setting.

Having walked from the Termini (not recommended) we found our hotel nestled in the cobbled back streets near the Roman Forum - signage was not immediately obvious and looked like a residential street. Excellent location, within walking distance of everything you would want to visit and a safe area too during the day and night. The staff were on call […] 24 hours, very polite and helpful at all times. Lovely quiet street with no through traffic of passing tourists - a real bonus. Breakfast was lovely on the roof terrace with a good selection of hot and cold foods on offer in a relaxed atmosphere. Read more

Charming and unique hotel with attentive service in a lovely building. The hotel has a beautiful secret garden as well as a roof terrace with views and is situated up a quiet alley just a stone's throw from the Forum. Very relaxing, comfortable and secluded, more like staying in a private townhouse rather than a commercial hotel.

Excellent service, we had a problem with the lock on our suitcase and they were more than happy to help out. The breakfast buffet was beutiful, and the maid who looked after our room was exceptional. Overall, a wonderful stay and i would reccomend anybody to stay there as i certainly will be....again!!

Was a relaly lovely hotel with very friendly staff and a great location. Room was very very clean (im a bit obsessive about cleanliness) and i found it very very clean, Right next to the forum and colleseum, didnt need to use any public transport to get anywhere. Some nice restaurants near by too. Breakfast well worth having.

We were Aussie travellers just staying for one night, we received the warmest of greetings on arrival and a much needed cold drink after a long journey. The room was cozy, clean and really just perfect for us. There was an amazing catacomb within the building and a roof top garden where we had a lovely breakfast. Couldn't recommend this place highly […] enough. Read more

Went to The Inn at the Forum for our honeymoon, stayed 3 nights and couldn't wait to go home. Had no sleep the first night because the bed was broken (3 broken slats and mattress springs broken on one side). Broken toilet seat. Broken tap. Peeling and mouldy wallpaper. Jacuzzi not working. Bath plug not working. Towel rail broken. Mini bar handle missing. […] Complained the next morning but nothing had been done by 5.00pm. Changed rooms but even worse. The air conditioning in the new room was not working and blew out hot air instead of cold. It was 39°c during our stay. Between midnight and 4.00am the temperature was unbearable and we took it in turn to take cold showers to cool down. The receptionist said it was because the room had not been used for 2 weeks. Lies - the room had not been used because the air conditioning was broken! Thank you Inn at the Forum for ruining our honeymoon. Read more

GOOD LOCATION. STAFF ARE VERY FRIENDLY. THE BREAKFAST LOUNGE IS SMALL. ONLY 4 TABLES AND THE HOTEL HAS 16 ROOMS!!!! YOU MAY HAVE TO SHARE YOUR TABLE WITH OTHERS!!! THEY NEED MORE TABLES. FOR FAMILIES WITH BABIES AND PRAMS, NOT VERY CONVENIENT, CANT FIT THE PRAM IN THE LIFT, AND GETTING INTO THE HOTEL WITH A PRAM IS DIFFICULT, LOTS OF STEPS AROUND!!! […] BETTERS FOR COUPLES WITH NO BABIES. BREAKFAST BUFFET IS GOOD BUT NOT WORTH THE MONEY YOU PAY FOR!!! NOT MANY VARIETY. APART FROM THAT, THE HOTEL IS GOOD,NICE DECORATIONS AND STAFF ARE DOING THEIR BEST TO COMFORT YOU. Read more

This hotel was pretty disapointing and frustrating for us. It was the last night of our honeymoon and we really wanted one last good dinner and to cuddle up afterwards and watch a pay movie (in English). The restaurant they recommended was terrible, the movie service was unnavailable because they had cancelled it. The service was pretty friendly until […] we had a lot of trouble with their internet access which seemed to irritate them. Oh, and we were impressed at first that they had some sort of Roman ruins built into a display of sorts adjoining their check in desk, but when we got in there, it was a bunch of dank, dark, unlabelled, stone rooms and ruins, with the clincher being a room full of stinky garbage at the end. Also, this hotel was very difficult to find. On the plus side, the room was beautifully designed and the breakfast wasn't too bad, but those weren't enough to rescue the experience! Read more

This Inn at the Roman Forum was just the best, a real gem and we would strongly recommend this hotel. Not easy to find and even the taxi drivers get it wrong, but up a few narrow cobbled streets and a few steps and if you miss the number on the door you may well walk right past the entrance - But that’s what makes it so special that it blends in so […] well with the "Roman Forum" you feel as if you are living in the past. The hotel and all its amenities are perfect, the rooms are perfect, the rooftop breakfasts and sundowners are magical but above all the staff are just wonderfully amazing. Loved it, thank you.
