Howard Johnson Ormond Beach at Destination Daytona - Ormond Beach

I stayed at this Howard Johnson when I went down to Daytona for the Rolex 24 hour Grand-Am race. I was originally supposed to stay with a friend for all three nights, but I ended up having to find a hotel for two of the nights at the last minute. This hotel had a great price, and it's right off of 95 and only about 20 minutes from the track! There are […] separate buildings and I had reserved a king bed, but the room wasn't in the main building. I asked the receptionist if there was something in the main building as I felt more comfortable there. The only available rooms had balconies or patios (depending on the floor) and they were much more expensive, but she was able to give one to me for almost no additional charge. I didn't want to be on the first floor - a little freaked out about the sliding door on ground level and I didn't want to be near the bar, so she found me one on the second floor and then took me up to look at it. It ended up having two double beds which worked out well...I needed the other bed for all of the race freebies that I needed to sort through! I think the receptionist's name was either Julie or Brittany, but I can't remember. The room was really clean, there was lots of counter space in the bathroom, and I think there was a desk too. The internet was really fast, the beds were comfortable and the breakfast was better than most places with these types of breakfast. I would definitely stay here again if I'm in the area! Read more

The staff was very polite, the hotel was very modest, but still nice, and the location was superb. We did not leave the hotel for a full day because there was so much to do there. Be sure to check out Saints and Sinners bar for all you partying types.

hotel had a slight smoky smell to it, and the "free breakfast" didn't offer many choices, but it was relatively clean and close to where we needed to be, with great proximity to destination daytona

Clean, basic room witha friendly staff and location close to interstate and highway. The shower didn't have hot water although the sink did, so it may have been an issue with the shower handle. I was only staying the night so I didn't report it to management. The hotel is geared towards bikers due to it affliliation with Harley-davidson.

This was a definite improvement from my previous nights stay at another hotel. We were so thrilled to see how clean and nice the rooms were. We just stayed one night so we didn't get to take advantage of all that the hotel had to offer but I would definitely stay there again.

We attended a sporting tournament & booked a hotel just days before the event. We were grateful to find reasonably-priced place within 30 mins of fields. Room located in middle of large parking lot, far away from pool/main office. Room was nice, modern, clean, & had microwave & fridge (like-new). But room was very small for adult, 1 almost-adult and […] 1 child. No table or sitting area. First night was Friday night. As we arrived, there was a police officer in parking lot breaking up a fight, and several sketchy-looking people hanging around. During night, there were all kinds of shouting, door-slamming and other strange noises around our room. The second night, whoever was staying in the room that adjoined ours, opened their adjoining door, left it open and smoked. Smoke wafted under door into our NON-smoking room. Hotel says it offers free breakfast, but it really just offers free breakfast snacks. Hotel very much caters to motorcyclists and bikers -- as a family, we were quite uncomfortable with the surroundings. We would not stay there again. We actually booked a hotel on the beach to find out it was awful. We than booked here in hopes it would be a little more suitable for our family (which included a 10 month old). The room was very CLEAN. We were very happy with the accommodations and price of the room. Plus, it wasn't a far drive to the beach. I would recommend this to anyone!

I first arrived in a super hot room. I then turned on the AC and to my surprise nothing was heard kicking on, no fan, no ac unit, etc. After 30 mins of no cooling I called the front desk. A maintenance man arrived explaining that I have 1 vent that blows into my room from the suite next door and that it will not get any cooler. It was almost 80 degrees […] and that is unacceptable. He then opened the suite divider doors to allow my room to cool off from the suite next door but told me we would have to close it back later if someone stays in the suite. This wasnt going to work and after 30 more mins it cooled 1 degree. It was 65 in the suite. I was asked if I wanted to move and offered to pay for the suite at discount, however, they only wanted to take $20 a night off which still made the suite pricy. I did not want to move everything I had just moved in. I was told I could move to another room at the main building (across the parking lot) and I packed everything up. I proceeded to the elevator (I was on the 3rd floor). The elevator call button did not work and I had to wait 15+ mins for the maintenance man to arrive on the elevator so I could go down. I then loaded my car up and went back across the huge parking lot to get keys to my 2nd room. I got into the room and had my own ac unit just for my room. The room was cooling nicely and did so quickly. A few minutes after moving everything in the man at the front desk brought me 2 beers in a beer ice bucket for my troubles. About 10 mins later I cracked one open and it was straight off the shelf hot beer. I had to then get more ice and smoother these 2 beers for a while before I could enjoy them. Later in the evening I discovered I barely had any toilet paper, thankfully had tissues on the counter. The next day the room was not clean until after 4pm. One of the better hotels I have been in. There is an amazing BBQ joint on the property. Very fun place. Highly recommended. Rooms were the cleanest that we saw on our trip to Orlando & Daytona (we stayed in about 9 hotels). Everything was perfect.

I enjoyed the stay. I am not a true motorcycle fan but the venue was pretty cool. The bed was a little hard and the "continental breakfast" consisted of muffins and coffee which could have been a little better considering there wasn't a breakfast restaurant anywhere close but overall a nice place to stay.

Easy access to I95. Room was clean and modern. My only complaint was the location of the room. It was between the bar door entrance and the restroom entrance. You could hear the band and when someone went in or out the bar door, the room vibrated! I would stay there again, but would know to ask for a room far away from the bar!
