"biggest let down is the food"
08/27/15 dad d Wrexham, United Kingdom
ok, just got back from a 9 day stay at the samba.the hotel is tired and dated, rooms very basic and very much budget, no surprise there as you get what you pay for.the door to the balcony didn't lock so if you have younger ones bear this in mind.the shower and bath date from the seventies.the room we were in was a 'twin', its actually a standard room with two extra beds thrown in(four of us staying) with virtually no room in between them.not a problem for us but maybe for other guests.hairdryer in bathroom but we never had to use it, standard tv with sky news. elevators are a pain and take ages to get to you we found all the staff very friendly and helpful, but perhaps a bit stressed, mainly because of the way the place is run. we were all inclusive and the drinks system is very much as the wind blows, you are allowed a maximum of two drinks per person no matter how many cards you have(everyone ai has a card), so my wife and i and our four year old have to make two trips to the bar to get a set of drinks? initially no but a few days into our stay they changed it, and yes we did. a real pain when the queue is twenty deep and only one person serving. there are bars outside on the seating area but only for paying guests, the pool bar is the same. a lot of the arcade machines and sweet machines are inoperative and awaiting maintenance. the advertised 'victory english pub' was a bare floor under refurbishment? and please note for the disabled toilets you had to go down fifteen stairs? ok, kiddies park next nice but older children dominate especially after about 9pm, climbing on the outside of the equipment etc, the sponge tiles on the floor are all pulled up and unkempt, and a rock wall is easily accessible by younger children. biggest problem of course is unsupervised children running absolutely wild. pool area next, and just forget it if you have wheelchair or pram as you are looking at sixty steps at least. pool is quite fun but you cannot swim in it due to dive bombers, balls, inflatable etc. not a problem if your a dive bomber of course, there is a smaller pool for kids which is quite ok. the grids around the pool are broken in places and we noticed two kids with cut feet to which the lifeguard when there responded quite promptly not the cleanest of water but budget hotel again. there is a lifeguard(of sorts) sometimes on duty. sad to record this but the week before we arrived a young girl drowned in the pool, the hotel staff refuse to answer questions about this. there is a security/police guy who patrols the area and this is actually quite comforting. food....oh dear here we go there is always a range of salad, which is ok, and then you get the cooked food, which is mostly crap.the meat which is normally pork or chicken, are poor quality meats to start with, which are then over cooked, and recycled, i.e. pork steaks one day, pork stew the next, pork whatever after that. the chips/ wedges are chewy and have been standing for too long. the food, like the hotel is tired, and not one fried egg in sight. the bread is always quite stale. the deserts seem to suffer from the same recycling mentality, and just have a different topping on the same cake day by day. the fruit is nice though the beer i found not nice though, but perhaps that is to taste lloret de mar is probably better suited to the youngsters, the beach is very overcrowded, but is only 5 mins from the hotel barcelona is an hour direct by bus(21 euros) or and hour and forty five by bus and tram from lloret to blanes then barcelona(16 euros) the people there are i would say german, french, british, spanish and some polish. if i was to go there again i would not go all inclusive as the food(providing you look around) is cheap enough. i believe you can book into sister hotels that are better for food but you may have to pay

"average hotel for price we paid"

booked this hotel as a short break and stayed 4 nights, we were half board, food was plentiful but typical hotel food, we did eat out one night for a change at a great steakhouse however there was plenty of choice at the hotel, was very busy at mealtimes tho, only thing was the food went cold very quickly , the warming plates are obviously not very good. people on all inclusive deals had plastic glasses and could only get 2 drinks on their room card so if you were a family of four this wasn't really good enough. because we were half board we got proper drinks in nice glasses and they wernt expensive for an hotel . our room was quite big for 2 of us and plenty of storage space for clothes, slightly dated but this is a very cheap hotel. I would rate this hotel as a 2 and half star. the last day however was bad. we had to be out of our rooms for 10am and our flight was 10pm, I asked regarding a late check out and none available , however if there were then it would have cot us an extra 35 euros which sounds very expensive as we hadn't paid that for two of us per night, I asked regarding washing facilities and was told to use the shower by the pool but not allowed any soap or shower gel, both me and my husband ended up getting washed and changed in the reception toilets. I would say this is a decent hotel for a value holiday but would have been disappointed if we had paid the regular price. on the plus side all the staff were very friendly and polite

location bad if u have kids especially if ur have a buggy ,the hills go on and on if u want to get into the strip.the hotel does not cater for famiies no ramps for buggy so u have to carry it down 2 flights of steps.the all inclusive meals were ok to start but got worse as the week went on we had to start eating out nothing for the kids fish fingers on day lunch that's it. noisy hotel paper thin walls u can hear ur neighbours on the toilet. drinks system bad. lunch system bad not allowed to take snacks even on paper plates to pool. if you are going do self catering and its ok if ur just looking to sleep nt use the room as its tiny. lloret de mar is brill just stay on beach front

"Not for kids"
08/23/15 neil s
Went for 7 nights and found Food OK for adults, granted choice was limited but put a meal together every time, but nothing for kids. Had to walk into town to buy my son his meal every night. Health and safety disaster waiting to happen, if take kids keep your eye on them all the time, poor lighting on steps and if you have a pram be prepared to do a lot of carrying. The most bizarre thing is the disabled toilet that you can't get to unless you go down 15 steps, but it's the only toilet door that locks in the whole public area. There is security on most of the time and they were seen stopping kids running round the floors of a night. Drinks system changed every time the wind blew a different direction, it one per card / glass then max two per person which meant the queues were even bigger as we had two people queuing for three drinks so made it pretty pointless. As all inclusive we were forced to queue at the furthest point of the bar leaving the rest of bar open for paying guests which there wasn't many. When the outside bar was open of a night that was only for paying guests as well. There is free WIFI but it only works for thirty seconds at a time then disconnects, you can pay for it 1€ for 1 hour 5€ for 24 hours or 20€ for 7 days. This price is per device and be warned it didn't work in our room unless you were in the bathroom, other than that it was really only worked in the bar, reception or restaurant where you could get a signal, forget trying it round the pool, it doesn't work outdoors. Staff were pleasant enough on the bars, the restaurant staff where pleasant so long as you didn't try to clear a table yourself, there just wasn't enough of them to cope with peak season demand, you had to time going in else it was bedlam. The hot plate was quite good, with the food cooked in front of you as an option. Extra charges you get hit with, 3.50€ per person charge get your passports back, said it was a local tax but there was no mention of it until I went to pick them up Cleanliness was hit and miss, the rooms got cleaned but the terrace and the pool didn't really, cigarette stumps everywhere. Pool area was muddy and most sun loungers are broke. Plenty of shade as loads of trees on far side of pool which then gets the sun late afternoon. Rooms are small and I hope you like watching Sky news as that the only English Channel on the 14 inch portable that 8 foot off the ground in the corner of the room All in all if you don't have kids it's ok, but avoid if you are looking for a family holiday

Nice hotel, but food very basic, unless you love pork, not enough staff, had to clear our own table and staff miserable. All inclusive and paying vuest segregated, had to wait for drinks if not paying.

"Holiday"

Just arrived home from the samba after a weeks all inclusive holiday with my family in August. A tricky place to rate as there are many things that almost work and many things that could be fine only for a bit more effort on the managements behalf. Our 2nd floor room was small, 4 single beds squeezed together between a wardrobe and a shelving unit, making access to the safe tricky. An old portable telly on the wall, remote control didn't work. Bathroom is small but it all worked . Balcony with 4 odd chairs and no table! But nice view of the sea ,the cleaners come in daily to move the dirt around and sheets changed once I believe. The location of hotel is ideal about 10 min walk to fenals beach and similar distance to the other livelier beach, there are hills and steps involved. The restaurant isn't big enough to cater for peak times and queues developed . If more staff were employed then tables could have been made ready earlier. The food itself is palatable, always salad and fruit available, along with an eclectic mix meat fish potato pasta . It's not great but it's a 3 star not Michelin star. The pool area is grassy and muddy at times , not enough sun beds, and the ones they have don't function that well! The pool does get quite deep at one end so beware! One of the lights was hanging out of the wall in the pool and a panel separating the kids pool was missing but someone had stuck barrier tape over the gap which looked nice! The drink for card system could of worked if thought out better, the all inclusive brigade were hearded into a corner to queue whilst the main large bar remained empty for the paying guests. Bar staff apart from Carlos were a miserable bunch , the rules on getting drinks changed on a daily basis and the bar closes at exactly 11 . The pub within the hotel didn't seem to be open at all. There are pool tables and water vending machines that once again seem to work occasionally, this is a reoccurring theme within the hotel, things almost work or just need a bit of tlc. Despite all the niggles we had a good holiday, would we go back there ? No ! But it is a budget hotel so don't expect too much and you won't be that disappointed!

"The worst hotel that I've ever stayed in."

In my opinion this is not a 3 star hotel. The staff were helpful and friendly but there is simply not enough of them. I found the most disturbing thing about this hotel is that the restaurant was unclean.

"sad to say I wont go back"

Even after reading reviews on here I still took the kids to samba as i was not expecting 5 stars, but I am sad to say the bad reviews are right. The main areas of the hotel are clean and nice, the rooms clean and ok....now the rest....the pool was horrible, looks nice from afar, but when you get there the areas round it are dirty, the kids got mud on their feet from the dirty patchy grass which is full of cigarette ends. The food was not good, it was rare to have a nice all inclusive meal, in the end we started using the sister hotel on fenals beach the surf mar which is 4 stars and luxury compared to samba, any inclusive guests can go to surf mar and pay 13 euro for a family of four to use the pool and eat there all day. this was worth the money. and lots of us did it. we just ended up using samba to sleep in. In the samba at meal times there were often do dishes or glassed left at breakfast, sometimes no cutlery, so get there early if you want to sit and eat right away. The security guy was good when we had a loud noisy german group next door shouting and running down the halls waking my children, it stopped them right away and the staff were all nice enough. lloret is lovely but id say pay a bit more and stay somewhere else, even my 5 year old told me this food is a disaster mum. if you have already booked here, then dont cancel, go but use the surf mar you will have a nice holiday, cleaner pool, better entertainment for the kids and its cheaper then eating out

"Rooms below basic but had a good holiday!"
08/19/15 Leanna B London, United Kingdom
The hotel is what you pay for, the standard rooms are below good standard, they are more like basic and minimal. There is one iron through out the hotel and can only be used during the day. There is a room tax you have to pay once you arrive and yes if you are all inclusive there is a one card swapping system for drinks and you can only have one card per person, if you loose the card you have to pay to replace it. We stayed on the top floor, the balcony and view was amazing (we had pool side view, over looking the town and mountains, top floor had the biggest balcony's) saying this our balcony was larger than our room. The lights in our room would constantly flicker and turn themselves off. The cleaner came everyday and did empty our rubbish and mop the floors, change the bedding and towels. The bathroom was a bit on the shabby side, the door was shredded/broken on the inside and was tatty, there was a lot of rust around the sink and floor tiles, the shower would change temperatures every minute from extremely hot to extremely cold. It rained badly one day, which is not the hotels fault but the celling on our level in the hallway was melting away like clay and leaking water on the floors, which was rectified by the hotel laying blankets on the floor. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The food is hit and miss but there are some amazing restaurants outside. I paid for a weeks worth of WIFI for one device at the price of 20 euros but was unable to connect majority of the time. They do have entertainment every evening for families. It is 8 minute walk from the hotel to either two beaches, 5 minute walk to the town and bars and clubs. To warn you, you will get very loud drunk people as we was woken up on our first morning by neighbours at 6am jumping over balcony's, slamming doors and screaming, the hotel have security that check every floor to ensure its quiet by midnight but they finish at 5am. One neighbour had left food, dirty clothes, towels bags drink cans/bottles and packets on their balcony for the whole week where they attracted seagulls (which is not the hotels fault). The room is not great but it did not ruin my holiday, if your expecting your all inclusive to have a fridge an a decent TV or hair dryer like other hotels I have been to in Spain, think again. The atmosphere was nice and it was ok to lay your head and to spend your days enjoying the country, not in the hotel. If you are one to spend your days inside then do not have high expectations.

Old dirty hotel. Rooms are dirty, our bath was rusty. Food was awful. Lots of noise from people coming back from clubs. Lots of people running and dive bomb into the pool, dangerous for smaller children in the pool. We paid to use the sister hotel down the road as it was much cleaner. Won't be going back
