Clean accommodation, friendly staff. Quiet. Big deep tub. Slept like a baby before heading off to Nusa Lembongan!! Great place to recoup after traveling long distance (from Colorado).

Although it is definitely not a bad place to stay, there is a lot of other choices for a roughly similar price in the area of Villa Puri Ayu. This hotel is located in a very small street hard to access in a vehicle with more than 2 wheels. The rooms are clean but don't expect a view of any kind. The breakfast is rather good but the service is slow: you have to demonstrate patience if you want food that has not yet be brought to the buffet display or if they run out of plates/mugs/fork and knife... Great little hotel - location is down a little alley way that leads onto the beach. The alley looks a bit daunting at first, but its safe. Great position for food, shopping and the beach (about 50mtrs down the alley). The pool was fabulous and the outdoor areas were kept neat and tidy. We asked for a late checkout and were put into a Deluxe room for the afternoon as our apartment had been booked. The hotel could be a really great place if the numerous staff employed would actually be told to do some work rather than just hang around. The room was clean, untill we had a closer look:stains on the sheets, corners of the room were filthy, not a single cabinet door was working properly( easy to fix with 5 minutes spend on adjusting) There were weeds […] growing out of every pot plant, pathway,etc.The once-white cushions on the seats of the lovely undercover rest area desperately could do with a wash.Etc,etc The kitchen was absolutely filthy, luckely I only went in there the last day, or i would never have had breakfast(which was nice by the way) The internet connection was also frustratingly poor, and was fixed a couple of days before we left.Hopefully it will be better in future. The free bikes were falling apart, but somehow fun to use, perhaps because of it?(no bell, virtually no brakes and a constantly shifting seat and squeaky as anything)) They just need a better manager(perhaps not a laidback local?), who can see what is required and delegate the staff.It really doesn't require that much effort to bring it back up to expected standard. After arriving at the hospital at night, we were asked to wait - for the staff to put in an extra bed for the third person. The 5-10 minutes wait was worth it, even though we had to move quickly in a fine drizzle from the lobby to the pool-facing room without any umbrellas. The room had a high ceiling (it being a loft), and lights in the room were all […] on, and there was a welcoming elephant (made of towels) with sprinkles of flower petals on the dining table. The open-concept bathroom was also impressive. Since that was where the aircondition compressor was, any washed item dried pretty fast too. A water dispenser (bottled, with hot and cold dispensers) was also provided in the kitchen for drinking and cooking. The stove could be used to cook noodles, and I even used the frying pan to scramble eggs! There was no microwave oven, though . The towels we had were nice and thick. The ones we had for the first two days were, although clean, lightly "stained" here and there. However we had blindingly WHITE towels on our last day there. Even though a mosquito netting was provided for the bed, it was really unnecessary, since I hardly saw any mosquitoes. The stairs to the loft was slightly bit narrow - even for two slim persons to cross. Bed was comfortable. The clothes cupboard and the safe was behind the bed, and was unfortunately not well lit. Another bugbear was the road outside the hotel to the main road & the beach - project works were on, and the road uneven, with holes. Read more

I have stayed at this hotel 3times before with this beening my 4 th , we noticed that the hotel is starting to lose its charm , garden starting to look overgrown , small garden pool , chipped tiles, broken pool light with wires hang out and the water looking slightly green due to pool pump not working properly ,the pool loungers which where white on […] my last vist now have mold browning over them. The rooms are nice but the linen needs to be updated grey marked sheets and on a few days bathroom towels had some very dirty marks looked like they had been used to clean floors with :-( Some really nice staff members who are happy to have a chat with you ,but one staff member at the breakfast area was quite rude , when we asked for a tea bags to make our tea with ,we where greeted with eye rolls before being handed a tea bag , no cup , no hot water when we asked for a cup and water .... Very pleasant staff and service. I had read that the lane to the hotel can be a turn off but was surprised it wasn't the case, maybe because I was here a week back which being an off season time. Stayed in the first floor cottage overlooking a pool, the place was serene and peaceful. Ideal for couples. The only issue was the gecko in the roof making […] its noise now and then, but since the bed comes with a beautiful net, we felt secure and really couldn't spot the gecko but just hear its noise. The real deal is the 3-5 mins walk to the beach and the free cycle hire that will make your mornings / evenings a delight. And the 2 pools are good enough for a soak. The breakfast wasn't bad, I just had to ask the chef to give me a "well done" omelet since I prefer it that way and the chef was obliging enough to give me that perfectly cooked all veggie cheese omelet. We had a great time, stayed in the Villa Diamond, 2 Bedroom garden cottage, and a studio room. We enjoyed our stay but were a little dissappointed in some aspects. Because we were such a large group we did not want to add drinks and food to our room. Unfortunately when we tried to pay for our order by cash the staff never seemed to have change which […] was very frustrating at times. The staff were good but I did pay for my laundry twice which I wasn't happy about and they had difficulty understanding what we were asking at times. Off course the downside was the road noise where all of the budget rooms were located, but as with everything, you get what you pay for. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The only thing we were extremely disappointed about was that the hotel was advertised as being away from it all with rice paddy views which is why we chose it. To say that there were rice paddy views was really stretching it a little. There was a rice field behind the hotel which wasn't really visible all that well. So in conclusion, we were looking for a place that was in the country with beautiful views of the terraced fields, which we didn't get. So would we stay there again? Villa Puri Ayu was a great small hotel on a side street a short five minute walk to Sanur Beach. They accommodated our request for a baby crib, complete with linen. The rooms don't come with kettles, but on our request for our baby bottles, they provided one from housekeeping. The pool was great as was the breakfast and we loved being able to have a […] massage within the hotel quarters. Mosquito repellant spray was also provided. All in all, we were pleased with what we got for the price we paid in peak tourist season. Sanur is great for shopping, especially Hardy's which takes the bargaining with many shops out of the equation - everything from groceries to clothes and curios all under one roof at reasonable prices. Rooms were clean and well serviced. Our daughter's room had a small problem with a dripping shower which was fixed uopn request. The pools were beautiful and clean with plenty of pool lounges etc. Breakfast was adeqaute - similar to many Bali breakfasts with eggs on request, bacon, pancakes, muffins, fruit, cornflakes plus wedges, noodles etc. The grounds […] were tidied morning and night and staff were often seen doing upkeep - painting etc. Requests were politely dealt with and most staff had reasonable English. There are bikes to ride and tranpsort is available but is a little above market rates. Room service was good - the Nasi Goreng excellent - although plates/trays tended not to be collected. But if you are looking for a relatively inexpensive hotel that is well appointed and quite, tVilla Puri Ayu will be hard to beat. Oh, the Jalan that leads to the hotel is poorly maintained and might be a bit off-putting but this is beyond the control of the hotel and they apologise in their room booklet. But it leads to the beach just 80 metres away (with several long beds available for free for guests) and similar distance back to the restaurants and shops of Sanur. Read more
