VAN DER VALK HOTEL ASSEN - Assen

The hotel was generally good but marred by the fact that they overcharged me a whole day which was ammended but I failed to check the bill again. They put on items I had not consumed. Checking once is bad enough but having to re check bills I may as well do the job myself. This caused expenses claim problems once back to the office and wasted time.

Lovely hotel, good restaurant and bar. The only difficulty we had was actually finding the hotel as the hotel sign reads Hotel Assen and does not mention Van der Valk! Several guests that we spoke to during our stay had the same problem.

The room & bathroom were both spacious with plenty of storage space but the tiles in the bathroom needed re grouting and the room was in need of redecoration. Despite there being a full wall of window, the room was extremely dark as was the entire hotel - I can understand the subdued lighting in a restaurant at night but why in the rooms and corridors? […] The room supposedly had air conditioning but we couldn't find the control panel as described in the in room guide, resulting in an uncomfortably warm room at night - the sliding doors opened onto a communal balcony that ran the length of the building, so you couldn't leave it open in case some one came in. Although you couldn't hear anyone in the adjoining rooms ie the TV or people talking, the door mechanisms were extremely noisy - you just simply couldn't close them quietly and disturbed our sleep every night. Location of the hotel was excellent - near to the motorway exit & the Assen circuit which was the reason for our stay. We stayed in Assen to attend the Assen TT - MotoGP. Location to the track was great - it was an easy walk back to the hotel. The hotel is quiet, despite being a surprisingly large hotel. Wir haben das Personal vom Van der Valk Hotel Assen als sehr unfreundlich und inkompetent erlebt, das Ambiente und das Essen sind angemessen. Jedoch sind Hunde nur in 5 Zimmern des Hotels erlaubt und zwar in den noch nicht renovierten. Obwohl das Hotel auf allen Internetportalen definitiv Hunde erlaubt ohne Einschränkungen. Wie uns sehr unfreundlich […] Frau Tanis am Empfang ausrichtete, sonst ist das Empfangspersonal sehr unflexibel und nicht belastbar. Für die Bewirtung wurde uns eine Rechnung für 2885 € (unser Verzehr war ca. 600€)auf Expedia USA ausgestellt, obwohl wir definitiv die Kunden gewesen sind und nicht Expedia. Es dauerte ewig bis der Fehler revidiert worden ist. Nochmals werden wir dieses Hotel nicht besuchen und auch nicht empfehlen. Wir haben bald wieder inAssen zu tun und werden uns ein besseres Hotel suchen. Wo der Kunde König ist und nicht wie ein Mensch zweiter Klasse behandelt wird. Der neue Flügel ist schön renoviert, die Zimmer sind geräumig, jedoch bestehen die Kingsizebetten aus zwei Elementen auf Rollen also sollte jeder lieber auf seiner Seite bleiben, sonst liegt man Nachts wie ich auf dem Boden( tat weh). Vi bodde i ett rum i en nyrenoverad del av hotellet som i och för sig var fint. Vackert och stilrent inrett i minimalistisk stil. Välstädat och rymligt med luxuöst höga sängar (men förvånansvärt hårda madrasser). Dock var det en ganska lång väg att gå från receptionen och frukostmatsal vilket kan vara besvärligt om man hade haft tunga väskor. Ett observandum […] är att balkongen är gemensam för hela husraden vilket gör det osäkert att ha balkongdörren öppen under natten. Har man inte bil är det cirka 4km in till centrum och lite krångligt med kollektiva färdmedel. Men bra och prisvärt som helhetsintryck. Read more
