"Nice hotel at Heathrow"
We booked for 3 people but they'd given us a room with a King size bed. It was sorted quickly, where they brought a foldable bed for my 7 year old. They also brought him some cookies. The beds were very comfortable !. Getting to London is relatively easy; Catch bus to Hatton Cross underground and catch Piccadily line. Since we had a car for 1st night […] (12 pounds parking) and internet costs ~$17 pounds I think, we took advantage of their all in 1 upgrade for 40 pounds per night. This allowed you free parking, free wifi, access to fitness center and pool plus access to the lounge. The lounge has free drinks including beer and wine so it somewhat paid for itself. Though some of the food snacks that we supposed to be there (eg/ breafkast time to 10) had nothing when we went in around 9:30. We did use the pool but it was too cold for me and I spent most time in hot tub while my son played in the pool. The upgrade may be value for money if you had a family like me but if I stay again, I'll consider it. As for Wifi, it is pretty costly but it is free in the lobby area and one thing I noted is that if you have service like Boingo, you can access it instead of the Hotel's option. We also ate in the hotel steak house restuarant : Food was very good quality but a bit pricey but it is Heathrow afterall. "Short, but relaxing and comfortable stay"
My wife and daughter stayed here while in transit back to the US. The comfort and service were what we expected from the Marriott brand so no complaints at all. The only issue was around the "hopper service" from Heathrow airport to the hotel. The fare is not high but, we have reason to believe we were overcharged for the trip to the hotel, by the driver. We are a family of 4 and it's hard to find a place that can accommodate us in a normal fashion. But this Marriott was perfect! In fact, the restaurant was so delicious, that we didn't want to leave! "Okay hotel for overnight stay at Heathrow"
I've stayed at this hotel before in an Executive Level Room. Lounge facilities, inc evening snacks and drink were great then. In fact, I could probably have made a good meal out of them. This time however, I was disappointed with the experience. My room was not an Executive Room even though I had pre-paid for one. The key did not work, and I had to […] go back to the Lobby. Explained about key and the fact that it was not an Executive room. Staff mumbled something about the room that I couldn't understand, but did say I had use of the Executive Lounge. I was tired and didn't pursue the matter which is entirely my own fault. However, I realized that the room was right next to the elevators and I could hear every time someone used the elevator. At 4am this is not a good thing. Last time I stayed I had nice fluffy towels and a bathrobe. This time the towels were rough and scratchy and no bathrobe. Just coffee, decaf and regular tea in the room. Where was the cocoa and camomile tea I had last time? "Isolated and expensive"
The great fact that this is so close to the airport with reasonably priced and frequent shuttle service was the main reason I booked. It is, because of its location, rather isolated to one not familiar with the immediate surroundings, and you are therefore thrown onto the resources the Marriott itself provides for food, drink, entertainment, etc. The […] results seemed a bit pricy compared to hotels in metropolitan London, which have nearby competition for outside food, drink, entertainment, etc. The free wifi service was very good and reached all the way into my third-level room when it was purportedly only confined to the lobby area. The main lobby bar area was a little slow in noticing me at the bar and attending, as they were also responsible for the comforts of the restaurant behind them. I was there only one night after an exhausting conference going home to the States, so that needs to be borne in mind. So: pleasant, clean, very good staff with a minor hiccup at the bar, but fairly costly in terms of what I expected I might have to pay for amenities beyond the room rate. "Nice, but upselling and hidden charges"
Overall it was good. The hard sell on the executive room upgrade when I checked in was annoying and deceptive though. Part of his pitch implied that it was a good deal b/c of the room internet access I would get without mentioning that you get free internet in the lobby (and in fact I could get the lobby internet from my room which faces the lobby). […] Also, you get charged a connection fee of 1.80 every time you use a calling card to make a call (even tho you connect with a toll free #). There is no notification of this fact anywhere that I could find. The people I checked out with claimed that this was normal in the UK. This was a big charge for me b/c I was having problems w/ my calling card and it took many attempts to make my one phone call. They quickly reversed all but 2 of the charges when I complained. On the good side, the room was very comfortable and the gym/pool area is fabulous. I'm not sure if I've ever been in a nicer work-out area. I would stay there again. "Quite Good Hotel - Near Heathrow Airport"
Chose Heathrow Airport Marriott due to proximity to departure airport location. Hotel is located in complex road structure around Heathrow -- made a bit more complicated due to never-ending roadwork in area. Hotel is modern --- "business elegant" catering to international travelers including flight crews. Has convenient selection of very fine restaurants […] and a business center with necessary computing gear. Requested quiet room -- away from runway or roadway noises. Room looked out over inner courtyard -- concrete with no access. This view was unimpressive but totally acceptable given that the room was quiet as requested. On downside -- as is typical for these hotels, everything is "European Pricey". Room rates do not included meals, of course. But many items included in US hotels as part of the reservation must be purchased at this hotel. Examples -- unless you sign up to use the business center, you must pay for WiFi connection. Also, shuttle bus to terminals costs about 4 pounds per person as it is a common-carrier serving all hotels. Traveler should recognize this is most convenient way to serve all hotels in area -- but it does require more transport time due to other stops -- up to 45 minues from Marriott. Good stay. Got upgrade to use executive lounge, which was great for drinks and snacks. Nice pool. Excellent buffet breakfast on the weekend. OnIy minus, as with all Heathrow Airport Hotels, is that they don't have their own shuttles so you have to use Hotel Hoppa bus ($4 one way per adult) or public bus (free). The check-in was a mess. The line was 10 people long and it took 15+ minutes even with 2 staff members. The room was small and the bed was soft and "creaky". I woke up with a back ache the next day. Very good stay very near LHR. Based upon our experience, they are well suited to early arrivals and a 24hr operation from the airport traffic. The building is well insulated for sound, so the nearby runway is nt an issue. "Great For Heathrow Overnight"
This is a great place to stay if you are looking for a convenient stay at Heathrow especially to catch an early morning flight. We had a rental car and it was very close to the gas station and car rental return in the early am before our flight. We did not take the shuttle so I can't comment on that. The concierge was great in giving us all the specifics […] on driving directions. And the front desk was friendly and helpful. Also it was easy to check in for flight and print out boarding passes in the hotel lobby for no charge. The hotel lobby is a nice atmosphere to have one last drink before you head out of town. "Convenient location, but not very "user friendly""
This is a very nice Marriott facility in a location that is convenient to the airport. But I found that in spite of being located only a short hop from Heathrow terminals, there is no hotel shuttle service. A contract bus picks up airport passengers on the half-hour, however there is no assistance with luggage, and a charge of 4 pounds per person is […] levied. I waited for the bus for 15 minutes, saw it arrive at the hotel - didn't slow down or wait to see if there were any passengers waiting, then take off. I had to wait 30 more minutes for the next round. The hotel was apologetic, but explained that they have no control over the bus service, and they have no shuttle themselves. Although food is available for purchase at a couple of restaurants in the hotel, the price is extremely high, and the food quality only average. "Modern, clean, and Marriott standards"
After traveling in England for two weeks, we now know what to expect in the way of peculiarities associated with English lodging. First of all, nothing is free so if you expect this going in, you will be sorely disappointed. Expect to pay for the shuttle to the airport (I kid you not), parking, Internet, and no way to get more than one plate o,f "takeaway" […] from one of the restaurants. Oh, they also charge you to do takeaway. With fuel costs at 8 to 9 dollars a gallon, and the VAT on all goods and services, just expect to pay for anything extra. With this mindset, enjoy the beautiful lobby and Marriott bed. If possible, get the upgrade package which gets you club lounge access and complimentary drinks, snacks, breakfast, etc. Well worth it. Staff could not have been nicer and no one expects a tip, so they are so pleased if you do. Americans are liked. If possible, bring your own dinner or food from a nearby venue.
