"Close to the Bristol Airport"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Feb 22, 2013
The Plush Hotel was a lovely place to stay. The staff was friendly and helpful. The food was decent. The room was spacious and comfortable. I would have appreciated better pillows. The grounds were gorgeous. It was close to the airport which was convenient for our early flight out the next morning and the staff were willing to set breakfast out early for us so long as we told them what time we needed to leave. I would stay there again.

"Beautifully appointed B&B"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Feb 14, 2013
I was very impressed with my room. It was a single on the top floor, but extremely comfortable, extremely clean, and quite roomy actually. I had everything I could have wanted or needed, and my only wish was that I had planned for another night or two in Bath. The breakfast was just as good. I would recommend Oldfields to anyone visiting Bath. My only suggestion is that anyone coming from the train station with luggage, might want to take a cab, because the walk to Oldfields is uphill, though not too far.

"Clean, modern countryside inn"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Jan 29, 2013
Very clean and modern room. Everyone who worked there was super nice. Convenient to have pub next door. Breakfasts were great, continental and made to order main dishes. A pub with good food and board games a few minute car drive away. Only down side is it's right off the freeway so you can hear cars outside and is hard to find (although innkeepers were very helpful directing us to the hotel -- we called a few times for directions and had no gps)

Hotel is up to the usual Marriott standards with friendly helpful staff and excellent service. "Good if you are visiting the University"
Good central location for attending events at the University. Underground car park with a poorly ventilated lift. You have to pay 12.50 a day for parking. Easy to get cabs from front of hotel even on graduation day. "Great breakfast and comfortable beds..."
Postives - Service was fantastic throughout the hotel and the breakfast (that was included in our room rate) was great, good selection of food. General location is good close to cathedral, shops and restaurants. We had a twin room (2 double beds) which was very comfortable. Plenty of car parking space and could stay for rest of the day even once we'd […] checked out. Negatives - Cost of parking was high. Whilst location is central our room overlooked the Watershed complex (only twin room available) and it was noisy all night particularly when the clubs / bars closed. The main road was also just below our window so there was a lot of traffic noise (sirens being the worst part). Additional glazing would be a great idea! The negatives wouldn't put me off staying here again, however next time I'd choose a room on the other side of the hotel. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great attitude"
Fantastic hotel - really enjoyed our stay here but the overall impression of the hotel has to be the fantastic attitude of every hotel employee that I had interaction with. "nice place"
very nice hotel with great location and facilities. The room we were initially given smelt of cigarette smoke but we were offered another room after complaining. Everything about this hotel made me smile. The hotel is beautiful, old and with character. The room I had was just lovely. Very comfortable bed with a choice of pillows. "Marrriot Royal Hotel - Bristol, UK."
Be prepared to pay £12.50 per night for parking! Ridiculous..... Be prepared for an upgrade "on-sell" as soon as you arrive at the reception. Be prepared to wait forever for the lifts when the hotel is busy - they are far to old and slow for this hotel. Be prepared to wait to be seated for breakfast on a Sunday for over 15 minutes if the hotel is busy.... Hotel […] is located in a great place, little things like the above let it down. "Sleepless in Bristol"
This is a lovely hotel in a great central location. We loved it. The service and staff are excellent and incredibly helpful and breakfast was a buffet style which was great. A good vegetarian choice too. My criticism is that our rooms were on B floor and exceptionally noisy. My parents moved on the first night and I spent a sleepless stay. This is due […] to the air - conditioning noise which we found too disturbing. The windows are sealed too and the temperature was just too warm for me. This is such a shame as we really did like the hotel and really dont want to fault it at all. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Ideal Location for local activities"
Ex.cellent hotel, staff very efficient, ordered breakfast in room,it came on time, only criticism we had was that there was too much food on breakfast tray, also onsite carpark was a little bit expensive but very convenientGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Overall we enjoyed this hotel. However, the restaurant was short staffed on the Sunday morning with too many guest and not enough tables. Frustrations were exacerbated by the attitude of staff who were also frustrated and clearly felt customers "impatience" was unjustified. We queued for too long before being admitted to the dining room as did many […] others. We asked for coffee 3 times before it arrived again because there were not enough staff to deal with a full dining room. Breakfast is invariably the last memory of a hotel. "Birthday Treat"
I booked this hotel as a weekend Birthday treat for my wife. I was extremely happy with everything about the venue. The room was very comfortable and nice touches included the robes and slippers, all making you feel a bit spoilt. The room was spotless and very up to date decor. It is in a great location allowing you to walk to almost everywhere. We […] only ate breakfast in the hotel and this was faultless. Everything from pastries to pancakes and a huge cooked selection with eggs done everyway! I would certainly stay again. If driving to the hotel, just be aware that parking is quite limited and the charge is a tad heavy, that said it's a very secure car park (cctv and gated) so at least you know your car is safe. Public areas are nice. Breakfast is great - loads of choice. We had a deluxe room on the top floor. You can't open the small window. "This is what a hotel should be like"
Marriott really do know there business. They are without doubt the best chain of hotels I have stayed in and there has been a fair few. "Marriott Bristol Royal great location"
Great hotel with character, looks outdated and needs a clean externally. Internal of hotel is great full of character, staff very happy to please. We had a room facing a wall so be careful on the view you get. We did call the hotel before we got there to get tywo adjoining rooms as we had our children with us and were told they had been reserved for […] us however when we got there they were not available - extremely disappointing. "A great place to stay - excellent location"
The hotel is in an excellent location in the centre of Bristol. It’s adjacent to the cathedral on one side and the city centre ferry landing on the other. Harbour side bars and restaurants, Millennium Square and the aquarium are located just behind the hotel. The hotel itself has well presented public areas – with two classically furnished bar/lounge […] areas off the reception. We enjoyed an excellent afternoon tea in the lounge. The bedroom was clean and a good size. Room included desk with chair and also a chaise lounge type chair. Good flat screen TV with a large number of channels. The breakfast was excellent with a large selection of the usual buffet - cereals, hot English breakfast selection breads, pastries etc. These were all good quality - however nice touches were the omelette/egg station – freshly prepared and the pancake machine. For those wanting a later breakfast, service is until 11am every day of the week. Dinner was excellent – delicious and beautifully presented. The staff throughout the hotel were very helpful and friendly. I guess it’s the higher end of prices in the area – but if you book online and in advance you may be able to get a good deal. And as others have mentioned the car park is quite tight in places and is £12.50 per 24 hours! But it’s still worth it. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Marriott Bristol Hotel, central to Bristol highlig"
My husband and I stayed at the above hotel for two nights last week. "Marriott Bristol Royal"
Rather disappointed this time with the Marriott. Having been emailed and told no need to reconfirm booking, I duly arrived at the hotel around 9.15 pm to be told no twin rooms were left. What if I had been staying with an elderly relative? As it was my sister and I asked for the "put you up bed" to be made up and we tossed a coin for the queen double […] bed. I lost and got the temporary bed! Room also backed onto the club behind. Rather noisy come 3 am. Breakfast is always good. But a lesson learnt this time. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Weekend away 24th - 26th Feb 2012"
I visited the hotel at eight months pregnant, and requested a quiet room and a firm bed if possible. The room was upgraded immediately to a wonderful courtyard room which was incredibly helpful. The bed was soft and uncomfortable for me - however that was more to do with being pregnant rather than the quality of the mattress. It was a shame that people […] in an adjacent room felt it necessary to have a full blown argument that woke us at 4am. Again - not a fault of the hotel, however beware 'thin' walls. All the staff were super helpful and I cannot fault their politeness and service. The Harbour side of Bristol suffered a huge power cut in the early hours of the morning on the Sunday we were due to leave.. It knocked out all power to the hotel affecting all running water and electricity etc.. It impacted the breakfast service so any early risers would have only had a cold buffet to chose from. The power returned by 8.30am and hot food service resumed. The staff were very professional and handled the concerns of the guests well. I would stay there again. "Could do better!!!"
The cleaning of the room was slow and incomplete ... we did see rooms still being cleaned at 5pm, and when we returned to our room late afternoon, hoping for a rest, the room had not been touched. The staff responded well, cleaning it immediately and treating us to afternoon teas. The quality of the room clean was poor. I could sit on the loo, and see […] stains on the marble floor, and the bottoms of the walls streaked with old condensation. The decor was a little tired, with cracked marble sink surrounds, discoloured paint on the door and marks on the carpet. The hotel had a pool and spa, which we enjoyed, but the changing rooms had many damaged lockers and the floors were too slippy. Having said all that we did enjoy our stay; the staff were very nice, and the manager did listen to my views ... so I hope that it does result in some improvements. "Don't go for the spa!"
The hotel itself is lovely and breakfast was really good, but if you expect to be able to relax around the lovely pool on a weekend don't because it is like a holiday park. There were about 4 sets of children in the pool doing what children do, be loud! Because of the echo in the room it was deafining. One man even brought his child into the sauna! I surprised my husband with a night away on Boxing Day. The hotel was beautiful, the service was great and the breakfast was excellent. The location was better than I expected. We had a very relaxing visit. The leisure facilities need some improvement, the changing rooms could have been cleaner and the sauna needs refurbishment.
