AMERICAS BEST VALUE INN - Wethersfield

I made last minute plans to stay in Hartford for a night. Not the best, not the worst. Updated tetanus shot not required. On arrival, the desk clerk was the 12 year old son, couldn't help me out with a taxi or public ransportation. Probably would stay here again.

People who work there r nice but you have to wait for them to finish talking. The room are specious but the walls, doors and bathroom are dirty. I stayed there for 2 days. Theres just an old lady there cleaning rooms and they only do ur bed with the same sheets and take the trash. I'm not picky, and I don't expect much for a bargain price. A clean bed and a hot shower would've made me fully happy ... unfortunately, neither of these was supplied. When we arrived, we found hair on the tables, toe nail clippings on the carpet, and several pubic hairs on the toilet and floor. We'd requested a queen non smoking and received a room […] with one double bed in a room that reeked of smoke. Then, when we found that there was no fitted sheet, just a flat sheet that barely covered the very dirty mattress, we went to see the front desk. The answers were that they do not use fitted sheets, that the room was clean enough, and that it was nonsmoking (he saw no need to move us). Then he told us that we'd be charged whether we stayed or not because there were no refunds. It was late so we stayed, slept in our clothes to avoid the mattress, and cleaned the bathroom ourselves before using it. Then, to add insult to injury, there was no hot water in the morning, so we couldn't even attempt to wash some of the room filth off of us. By far the WORST hotel I've ever stayed in (and I've traveled through Central America staying in youth hostels!). Don't stay here - there is no rate low enough to make this worth it! Read more

At the price quoted, I think I knew what to expect. But, I did not expect: (1) to be greeted by a sign that said: "No Refunds," or (2) a lobby door that was locked and no answer when I went to check out in the morning, even though a sign on the door read, "Open 24 hours; Ring Bell for service." (I rang the bell several times, with no response). The […] motel is old, so one should not expect anything but the basics in the room. Clean, yes, but old, What I found: Something that looked like male white stains on the bed blanket. A receptionist apparently unfamiliar with neighboring restaurants. Towel rack bent.
