The front desk made us wait for an hour to check in. When we returned to check in, we had to wait for another 30-40 minutes. Almost two hours were wasted just to get our room. The room was very nice. But overall, the quality of their customer service did not match up to the quality of their amenities--and the price tag.

Designed beautifully, room was pretty large, bathroom was gorgeous!! Bed was comfortable at first, but I woke up with a stiff back. Maybe it's because I'm spoiled at home because my bed is super comfortable. My only complaint is that we had no cell phone service in the room. Otherwise, great hotel, great location!

Outstanding hotel room and bath room, but difficult to enjoy the room when one has to go to the lobby or to the street to answer and use cell phone. The hotel staff told us that this was only the case in certain rooms, but was a black mark on our stay,as we had many incoming calls on the cell phone. Difficult to talk in the lobby with music etc and in the street with buses and sirens.

The room was amazing. The shower was the size of my first studio, the tub was extremely comfortable (I am 6'1"), and the bed and linens were top of the line. Everything was automated in the room, which was amazing. The bed was comfortable and the sheets were soft. The location was quiet and located near everything of value. The staff were inviting and helpful yet not pushy. This is the only hotel I will stay at in SF from now on.

This hotel was perfect! The staff are amazingly helpful. We traveled with a toddler, and although it seemed far from kid-friendly, it ended up working out great. The hotel is across the street from the Yerba Buena Gardens, which has a great playground, a carousel, a children's museum, bowling, and ice skating. There is a DVD player in the room, and the concierge has a great selection of kids movies to borrow for free. The hotel staff does not understand what a kid-friendly restaurant is, so we had to find them on our own, but there were a lot of them- Mel's Diner and CPK were both within a block. The beds were unbelievably comfortable and the turn down service was done without having to request it. Every time we called for assistance of any kind- the car, luggage, movies- it was brought within minutes. Be forewarned, the parking is higher I have ever paid before. Other than that, this was an amazing vacation, and I was sad to leave.

I was up all night by a noisy neighbor who left the music on all night, filed a complaint 3 A.M. and security came out but only turn down the music by a little bit and I could hear base sound all night. Wall must be too thin, I can hear door slamming and conversation out in the hallway. Staffs were very friendly and had a lot of gadgets like remote control for drapes, but need to do something about noise.

We reserved one of their larger/nicer rooms and picked the option (on hotels.com) for two full beds. We arrived and were told that the hotel doesn't support hotels.com bed choices, and they only had a king bed room. So we moved to a lower room (with a view of a brick wall) for the same (high) price, because we needed two full beds. Our room didn't come with an ironing board, but someone brought one up quickly. But the ironing board looked like they found it on the street. You could not iron a shirt with it, because the top part was horribly wrinkled and damaged. The staff was very nice, but the line at the front desk was a bit too long for a hotel of this quality and price. I don't plan to stay here again.

Hotel St. Regis is a place that really takes you to a fantasy world. The rooms, service, food, and gadgets (remote control room control for curtains, temp, wake ups, etc) are all very cool. The restaurant, Ame, had some of the best food I've had in San Francisco. BUT you definately pay for it. Very expensive. That's the only down side. if you want to splurge and pamper yourself, go ahead!

We stayed at the St. Regis San Francisco for 4 days in April 2008 for a girls' weekend. I chose this hotel because the square footage was quite a bit larger than most other hotels in the area--however, upon arrival, I would have to say the extra square footage seemed to be in the entry area and the bathroom, not the room itself. Service was spectacular, definitely exceeded our expectations. Beds were amazingly comfortable. Style was very clean and modern, which I liked, but my friends were expecting a more lavish old-world style for the money we paid. The pool was gorgeous and kept up nicely. Location was superb--just a few blocks to BART and Union Square, a nice long walk to Fisherman's Wharf and the Embarcadero, plus Peet's Coffee and a wonderful Italian grocery right across the street! A couple of things that would have improved our stay: A door separating the toilet from the shower area would have meant 2 people could use the bathroom at once. A lamp and a mirror over the counter and table in the entry way would have given us more room to get dressed and made the wasted space more useful. Prices in the bar and for room service were ridiculously expensive, but we just made a point of enjoying our cocktails elsewhere. Finally, for the price we paid, Internet service should have been standard instead of the daily fee of nearly $15. (To their credit, they refunded our fee when the printer in our room did not work.)
