"On the Edge of Town (or just past it)"
It's an AC Marriott - we haven't had a bad one, and this was no exception. There are two things I would note however. First, if your intent is to visit the city, Madrid, this place is quite far from downtown. We like to use metro systems, and the closest stop to the hotel is about a 10-15 minute walk. Not only that, but you're in Zone 2, and need a […] separate ticket to ride the few stops to Zone 1, when you're in the Madrid Metro Zone 1 proper. Not only that, but you have to change trains at the junction of Zone 1 and Zone 2, something you may only find out by trial and error, as we did. Second, the continental buffet breakfast is 14 Euros! This is beyond expensive. I wish I had asked, but having been in several hotels over our 3 weeks in Spain, and not having any continental buffet cost over 5 Euros, this was a shock on checkout! The free mini-bar in the room was not offsetting. On our next visit to Madrid we will stay closer to town, perhaps in another AC Marriott. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Great place to stay"
A very nice hotel to stay in overnight. Really nice hotel, nice room and good breakfast. Will look for other Marriotts in future.

Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Good for short stay"

Hotel is nice and got free minibar as platinum. KFC next door and all the junk food down the hill in the shopping mall. Hotel has a shuttle service bud hadnt tried (in fact nobody offered). Taxis are not standing by hotel so expect to start the journey with 6 euro. Was good for one week but for longterm would stay in different place. To go to Madrid via metro you need to walk 1-2 km and then to spend 30-40 minutes on metro.

This hotel was totally fine for one night in our 6 weeks long holiday. It is on the north side of Madrid near airport and shopping. As you can imagine, being away for so long you need to do laundry every so often and I chose this hotel as it said it had a self service laundry. In English and in New Zealand that means what it says. A place you can do laundry yourself. This hotel DOES NOT have a laundry and in Spain, so I have found out, that actually means you can have laundry sent away and perhaps you might have an iron in the room. I was desperate for a laundromat or something with 3 of us needing washing done. The receptionist said they only send away ( which is exhorbadently priced everywhere) but they had a machine in house and would put some through for us. We explained we would not pay per item as in dry cleaning and she made us to believe there would be no charge. I had every intention of paying 20 euros for their trouble and duly handed over 3 bags of washing. Bearing in mind you only have to chuck it in the washing machine and then the drier. No ironing I specified. The next morning on check out I was presented with a bill for 225 euros for washing. I was astounded, horrified, and aghast. Had I known they were going to charge by the item I would never had done any washing. I would have found a laundromat. After discussions with the manager by telephone they reduced the bill to 100 euros. This is still $150NZ and I could have bought new clothes for that. It is sad our stay was overshadowed by this rip off. This is part of the issue with communication in different languages but I made myself very clear before hand. The same receptionist was not on duty the next morning so I had nothing to prove our conversation. For this reason I would not recommend this hotel. The laundry at 100 euros was dearer than the accommodation and breakfast for 3 at 75 euros. Not acceptable Marriott!!!! Ripped off!!!! Be warned about translations also.
We stayed two separate evenings in this hotel, using it as a buffer between our air travel and train ride to and from southern Spain. We had 3 in our family to accommodate. Although we were happy to take the king size bed and sofa for the evening, the staff was not to keen about having more than 2 people in a room. The hotel was very beautiful and quiet . The location was convenient. The staff at the front desk and restaurant were accommodating, but not especially friendly.
"I liked this hotel but not any more thanks to the restaurant staff"

I have used this hotel many times in the past 6 months due to business commitments nearby but this 4 night stay is probably my last.....why? Simple.....if I want to feel like a second rate person I will ask for it, I don't need a waiter to do it for free. Second night at hotel I come down to an almost empty restaurent, sit at a double table and within seconds the waiter strides over and tells me rather impolitely to move to a single table......"this is for more than one and you are only one!". The bl**dy restaurant is empty and apparently did not fill up all night......even the receptionist was amazed with this but I would rather sit in the nearby KFC than recieve this service. I wanted to sit where I placed myself because it was warm and away from the front door but the waiter clearly had other ideas. Third night, I have come down to find the restaurant again EMPTY but the double tables have a 'reserved' sign on them. In six months there has never been these signs and now in anticipation of a huge rush of people......good grief! So this may be my last stay and it's possibly time to find another hotel either way a good hotel has now plummeted in my view....this said by a gold marriott card holder still waiting for the non existent room upgrade one day at this hotel. Not a happy experience!
"Comfortable and clean hotel at a very affordable rate for the level of quality, but location is a bit isolated."

I recently stayed here on a business trip. The rooms are very clean and comfortable, staff is friendly and helpful. The location is a bit isolated, although the Plaza Norte mall is about a 20 minute walk. The room rate is an excellent value.
"Good base location for airport access, not so easy for Madrid city center"
07/10/13 JpocJedi Ogden, Utah
I used this hotel as a base of operations for meetings with multiple clients within the Madrid area. The hotel, being a Marriott property, has the typical Marriott personnel and attitudes, which are helpful and friendly. The hotel is very clean, if somewhat spartan, and is a short walk from a decent shopping center. The restraunt and bar area are adequate, although nothing special. The wine selection from the bar also seems to be decent for a buisness type hotel. The rooms are clean, but otherwise unremarkable. Although I did like the prevailing use of glass for the bathroom counters and desks. Taxi's were easily obtainable for the front desk staff, and we didn't have any issues getting to the Madrid city center (Plaza Mayor) or the airport.
"Not sure what other reviewers are looking for?"
07/04/13 emeles Chelmsford, United Kingdom
Based on some other reviews you wouldn't use this hotel...but for me it's just far away from my office to need a taxi whereas any closer and it's a very hot walk...36c The reception is clean and functional with a mini shop with drinks, food and other items. I arrived late, after 2200 but the restaurant was open until 2300 (take note Tulip hotel, Brussels) and the staff happy to serve until then. The rooms are clean and relatively new, air con is strong and blackout curtains are essential for room 233 since the sun is so strong. One negative is the limited English channels on TV. Location is a bit out of the way but with KFC 100m away and a large mall 1000m from the hotel the selection of food places is good.....€11 for the Chinese all you can eat buffet! Breakfast is a bit basic but for me some toast, coffee and fruit it's ok. Finally it was good to discover a shuttle service to my office from the hotel saving around €10 each trip.
"Stay there if you have to"
05/01/13 JohannesH85 Prague, Czech Republic
The hotel is ok if you have to stay somewhere in this area. But it is without soul, one out of many where you will not notice where you are without looking at your GPS nor remember it once you left. No Wifi (or it did not work). The bathroom is the only zone where some effort was made. Breakfast close to minimum level. Staff mostly trainees, which leads to some congestion in the morning.

You get Marriott points but not actually like a standard Marriott - the Marriott burger is not on the menu. The evening restaurant is actually good but was closed Friday night! Not a problem as we were going out anyway but would have been inconvenient if you arrived after a long flight. Buffer breakfast is good and free during the week - strangely they charge on Saturday and Sunday but have less variety. (Only 5.5 Euro which is very rerasonable). Rooms clean and spacious. Staff friendly, speak good English. There is now a footpath down to Plaza Norte (v large shopping mall) making that very convenient - and lots of restaurants. Good place to stay if you have business nearby, otherwise you would probably prefer to be in the city.
"Ok business hotel"
03/12/13 NumbersONEandTWO Chorleywood, United Kingdom
Stayed here as I have a client nearby - hotel is convenient for this part of the city, but it is not Madrid. Room was nice - relatively basic, but did all you needed. Staff were very friendly and spoke good English. We also had dinner in the hotel, which was good. There was only one staff member on duty though, covering the restaurant and bar, so poor guy was pretty rushed off his feet and service was slow Gym is small, but equipment ok
