This is the best hotel we ever stayed in Europe. The room is so spacious and the hotel in general is very cozy & quaint. We are five people in our party and everyone loves the hotel. The breakfast is very good.

We met a lot of the staff during our stay and they all were very helpful and pleasant. We didn't have any issues to resolve but were always asked if there was anything that could be done for us. The location is excellent. Very close to metro (2 min from the door depending on traffic) and grayline tour bus station (4 min from the door depending on traffic) […] and a walk down the boulevard to center city was pleasant and very safe with an abundance of places to eat and drink. The restaurant was surprisingly good. Rooms are small but very clean and well appointed though our room didn't have a view. Didn't spend much time in the room because we could easily walk to a lot of areas of interest, don't miss an early evening walk in the park. Read more

We stayed 4 nights at the Aviz and absolutely loved it. There were three of us and my 11 year old son was thrilled to have his own room and television. The bathroom's were marble floored and very modern with a comfortable shower and all the ameneties you may need. The rooms were huge, unlike most European rooms I've stayed in. When we checked in, the member of staff at the desk clearly told us what time the breakfast was served at. I enquired specifically if it was included in our booking and he said yes, breakfast was included. We went for breakfast every morning (and had to wait approx. 20mins each time to be seated). Then when we were checking out they presented us with […] a bill for the cost of breakfast each morning. I explained that we had been told that it was included, but the member of staff said he didn't know anything about it and threatened to call the police if we did not pay the bill for the breakfast ( I had paid in advance for the booking). We tried to speak to make it clear that they could not tell us it was included and then charge us as we would not have had the breakfast if we they hadn't clearly told us that it was included. The manager would not come to the desk to speak to us. We ended up having to pay a substantial amount of money and left feeling very angry and robbed. Disgraceful treatment. Read more

Great hotel of the business type, had everything you needed. Very comfortable and had a good breakfast, but nothing special. Great if you just need a place to stay for the night. For tourists, the location isn't ideal since you would have to take the metro to the sights (there are better hostel/hotels downtown instead).

We spent 6 nights at this hotel and would highly recommend to others. Beautifully kept and immaculate, the only suggestion we would make is to have a comfortable chair in the room. The only place to sit besides the bed was a hard desk chair. The staff was wonderful, making excellent recommendations on restaurants and places to visit during our stay […] in Lisbon. We were there over the Christmas holiday and ate Christmas dinner at the restaurant - very, very good. Nice selection of wines and food was expertly prepared. The breakfast buffet had a solid selection of hot and cold items with great coffee - very important to us! If you drive and intend to use their underground parking facility, be aware that it costs an additional 12 Euros per day and it is very tight! The location is excellent - central to just about anything in Lisbon - we are walkers and had no problems getting around with the maps and suggestions provided by the staff. Read more

Hotel Aviz is an excellent choice when visiting Lisbon. The location of the hotel is walking distance to many restaurants and shops, with the metro just around the corner. The front desk staff was very courteous and helpful. The buffet breakfast in the morning was plentiful, providing hot and cold selections. The Hotel is in a great central location near the Marquis the Pombal. It is close to taxis, the subway system and buses. The front desk is very helpful. My only complaint is that the beds are very hard. The breakfast is very good. The hotel restaurant is OK for dinner - a little overly formal.

The room was not ready at check in, and after an early arrival from the US it would have been convenient to have an early arrival. But the room was ready by 12 Noon. The suite was spacious, clean and well decorated. The hotel staf was exceptional and the breakfast very generous. I had a lovely stay in the hotel. It is two minutes from a metro station and about a 15 minute walk from the centre. The walk is down a long leafy avenue. I would definitely recommend this hotel. It is small and has an old feel to it. It is very peaceful and quiet.

Good central location near to a Metro (underground station). Approximately, 20 minutes journey time from the airport via Metro. Helpful, welcoming hotel staff made us and the children feel welcomed. Decor is tradional styling and in good order. Rooms were of a good size with en suites, safe, cupboards and tv. There's a mini bar but no tea/coffee making […] facilities. The suite/family room is perfect provides two separate large rooms for sleeping, one with a sofa bed. Very close to Metro station so easy to get around but taxis very affordable if needed. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Good breakfast to start the day with great coffee. Would definitely stay there again if in Lisbon.

I've just returned from a 3 night Easter break in Lisbon with my partner staying at the Aviz hotel. The hotel was easy to get to and from the Airport on a standard bus (not Aerobus) and it stopped 50m from the hotel and was cheap 1.25 euros each (line 22). The reception staff were very polite and helpful to our needs throughout our stay. The room was […] spacious and clean and certainly of a 4 star standard. The beds were firm and comfortable and the shower was great. The TV was an old style an quite noisy in operation so this could do with updating. There was also a DVD player in the room. Breakfast was good, lots of choice and fresh (great scrambled eggs!). We did have to wait 5 minutes for a table on the first morning as the hotel was very busy over Easter. This was only a minor inconvenience. As other reviewers have said it is a 15-20 pleasant walk down the Ave de liberdade to the main Rossio square. If your feet can't take the upward journey back it was easy and cheap (1.25 euros again!) to get the Metro to the Marquês de Pombal stop which like the bus stop is 50m from the hotel. Lisbon is a lovely and clean city and easy to get around and it never felt too crowded. Try the restaurants in the old town (Bairro alto) for typical Portugese food. We would also recommend the red open top bus tour (city sightseeing) ticket was valid for 48 hours and and covered all the main areas. Overall we were very pleased with our choice of hotel and would highly recommend it for a break. Read more

After a long flight from Naples we were greeted at the hotel by the wonderful staff whom seen to our room and luggage as well he gave us exact directions to a wonderful restaurant. All the staff during our stay were very helpful and well knowledged of the city, they gave us great choices of place to see while we were there. This is a good quality hotel located in the financial district. The city centre is around a half-hour walk, or two metro stops, away. The room was small but perfectly good, and the bathroom was very nice. Breakfast buffet is great, with plenty of choice available.

The only good things about this hotel are the breakfast and the location. Cleanliness is ok. Service is bad. We booked a room with a queen size bed, but when we arrived we got a rom with two separate single beds. They said they would give us the room tomorrow. After some arguing, 30 min later they had a room available. If you have booked it and payed […] for it, how come it is not available?? And then 30 min after, you get it. The service at the hotel restaurant was bad. After a day of walking and sightseeing, we went back to the hotel to have a drink and a dessert. The waiter was extremely rude and told us we should have eaten the dessert in the city. He was loud and angry and seemed as if he was swearing in portugueese. We got our dessert, but we have never experienced such rudeness in a 4 star hotel. Not recommended! This was not like a 4 star hotel at all. Read more

The hotel is in an easily accessible side street but very close to one of the city's hubs for transport - the Marques de Pombal 'square' - so getting on a variety of buses, the Metro etc. was very easy, and the airport bus (aero shuttle) stops quite close by too. Travel cards and Lisboa cards for 1-, 2- or 3-days are excellent value. We travelled everywhere […] by public transport using these, or walking. The hotel sound-proofing is excellent! We had asked for a room with a view and were given one on the 6th floor overlooking the city (as much as the view allowed) so that was fine. We were able to access our room at 2pm just as expected. Everything was very clean and comfortable. The breakfasts (which are very important to us when thinking of booking a hotel) were buffet style with many and varied choices - hot and cold, sweet and savoury, fresh fruit etc. and every day included mini versions of the famous Lisbon custard tarts the city is famous for.
