Excellent choice. Employees were very nice. One even taught me the Greek alphabet! Breakfast was the best! Great selection and quality. Views are magnificent from the room and the breakfast room. Free internet is somewhat helpful, but not wireless (you have to plug in a cable near the TV). My husband and I stayed at Marin Dream as one stop during our three-week honeymoon. The desk staff were incredibly helpful in arranging daily excursions to Samaria Gorge and Elounda. The breakfast room has a gorgeous view and good selection of food, but we were only able to partake in the complimentary breakfast once as our excursions departed before […] the breakfast room opened. Our room was clean and comfortable, if simple. The shower stall is particularly narrow, and I often hit my elbow against the plastic accordion-style door while washing my hair. While not ideal, this was still acceptable to us. However, I am extremely disappointed that the cleaning staff did not respect our "do not disturb" sign. While we were out, the staff came into our room and made the bed although they did not replace the towels. I remain puzzled over the hotel's disregard of our request, and I caution other hotel guests to anticipate this daily breach of privacy before leaving the room. Read more

The room was very basic and the bed hard. The surrounding are so beautiful it is hard to imagine wanting to stay inside. I was awakened each night by the party crowd, and the walls were so thin it was hard to not hear every word they said. The breakfast provided was satisfactory and service prompt. Great little hotel in a very convenient location overlooking the port of Heraklion and the Sea of Crete and a 500 year old Venetian fort. Wonderful staff and good food at a very reasonable price. Short walk to a shopping district with numerous stores and restaurants. Great room; clean and with a good air conditioner and a balcony. We had a corner room […] which offered views on two sides. Super fast free internet connection. About 15 minutes form the airport without traffic (4AM). Due to the nearness of the airport, planes did fly overhead, but there were not too many and the noise from them was not too bad. There is no hotel on the waterfront that is not affected by this. For a relatively large city, Heraklion was clean and felt safe. I would definitely stay here again. Read more

Perfect location for our needs. We stayed one night and left the next morning for Chania. The bus station was a 5 minute walk back towards the harbor. Staff was friendly with a great sense of humor. Marin Dream is a great hotel and Iraklio has a lot to offer. We stayed at Marin Dream for 3 nights when we first arrived in Crete and then again for our last night before flying home. The hotel is small (maybe 50 rooms) but has all the services you expect in a 4 star hotel (although it's only rated 3 stars): restaurant, room service, laundry, mini-bar, […] elevator etc. Air conditioning worked well and the bathroom was very good. The staff was friendly and helpful (gave directions, good recommendations on restaurants, etc). A great breakfast was included in our room rate in the 6 floor restaurant with a panoramic view of the harbor and the Venetian fortress. A computer for guest use was avaiable in the lobby. The hotel is very conveniently located, partially up the hill from the harbor and only about 3 or 4 short blocks from the old town. There is a laundry a couple blocks away which will do your laundry for you for 7 euros and pickup in about 2 hours. There is also a small market nearby. There are a number of rental car places nearby in the old town and we were able to get a good deal on a 4 day rental of a car with Automatic transmission. I would stay here again and whole-heartedly recommend it! Read more

Arrived very late but we had alerted the hotel so that they knew we were coming. Hotel is great if you come by ferry - you can walk from there in less than 10 minutes. The basic rooms are very small - you wouldn't want to spend more than 1 night as a couple - but OK if you were on your own. Breakfast was nothing special.

Incredible view from a nice balcony, we rent the sea view. As always in Greece, room spotless. Regular breakfast, too American for my taste ( sausages and eggs). Avoid the rooms 501 to 503 if you want to wakeup late ( under breakfast room), but tthey have the best balconies... your call.

Not suitable for anyone with much luggage, minimal storage space in room. Too many things not working on arrival, e.g. safe, TV. Not enough staff, had to move room in evening with no assistance when power failed on my floor. In fairness was offered late checkout by way of compensation.

We stayed here for one night in transit to another island. IT IS SOOO close to the bus station and Port. As for the room, quite small with no room to move around. It said a room with a view....not so much...a long balcony with someone's bathroom window opening to it. We got a bit of the fort...but not easy to really enjoy. Hotel is based near port surrounded by oneway narrow streets.Drove around system 2/3 times for parking, which was not available anywhere near hotel.Parked in public carpark (3 Euros for 24 hrs - cheap!)and had to walk approx 10 mins uphill with cases.Arrived early -dbl room booked not ready given another one on 1st floor.On entering the room there was […] a foul smell coming from bathroom and safe would not lock. Towels very "grey" not white and some torn/frayed.Advised Reception of smell - and they asked Housekeeping to check it. Advised toilet or drain problem, new room was 4th room from lift on opposite side. No smell and safe working in that room.From the time we went to bed all throughout the night until breakfast the lift kept going up and down and making a banging sound. Kept us awake all night had no sleep. There was an engineer working on the lift when we went to breakfast. There was obviously a problem which had resulted in the noise throughout the night. Long walk up to breakfast on 6th floor and people checking out had to carry own bags downstairs as there are no porters. Breakfast was very sparse.The usual - cereals,fruit,cheese,bread,jam and a dish of overcooked bacon soaked in grease!!! Hotel rather rundown. Nothing good to say about it except the Receptionist was cheerful and helpful and it has a good location close to shopping, cafes and restaurants. THE LOCATION WAS PERFECT FOR WHAT WE WERE WANTING. IE WE WERE TRAVELLING WITH A GROUP WHO WERE BOOKED INTO THE LATO HOTEL A FEW METRES DOWN THE ROAD PLUS WE WERE CONNECTING WITH THE FERRY TO SANTORINI THE NEXT MORNING SO IT COULD NOT HAVE WORKED OUT BETTER.

We enjoyed our stay at the Marin Dream. Our sea view room gave us a balcony and view of the port and fortress, and was well worth a little extra as the room was not big. For some reason room 301 was more cramped than room 201, directly underneath, but it didn't spoil our stay. The breakfast buffet gave a good choice, including local specialities, and […] ran from 7-10.30. The main waiter was efficient but not friendly. One of the receptionists had limited English but we communicated in the end by persevering. The evening meal was just acceptable but the convenience and the view of the harbour more than made up for that. There is NO parking as the hotel is on the corner of 2 very narrow streets which can get very busy at times. A public carpark is some distance away. We parked on the street and the car got hemmed in by a car and motor bike. We moved it the following day but it was very stressful. Fortunately the hotel is in easy walking distance of the main museums, fortress and town centre. Wi-fi was included in the price, good shower, firm beds, good sound proofing (important as there's a lot of traffic and the hotel is under the flight path). The lack of tea making facilities bothered us more than we expected and we would have loved a bath, but it was great value for money and we would be happy to go back, albeit without a car! Read more

This hotel is easy to find as it is on the waterfront and overlooks not only the commercial port, but also the harbour entrance. The bus station is only 2 minutes walk away and the main pedestrian streets of the city are only 5 minutes on foot. The staff were extremely polite, helpful and spoke english among other languagues. We were given a room on the fith floor with a balcony and I got the impression these might have been slightly better than those on the lower floors.
