Sands Resort & Spa - Flic-en-Flac

Incredible resort. Beautiful location. Very clean and well-kept. Lots of activities. Staff (especially Rishi) went out of their way to make our 9 days stay enjoyable. We chose to not do half or full board and the price of food was expensive, but good.

Absolutely beautiful experience at Sands hotel. From the moment we arrived to our check out all the staff were on hand to ensure we were had a pleasant stay. Even small things like complimentary drinks, fruit and sunglasses clean service by the poolside made our stay feel very personal and stood the hotel apart from other luxury end hotels I've stayed […] at. Most of the staff were very friendly, I've marked staff a 4 as some of the staff, particularly at breakfast service, weren't as welcoming. Also - one of the waiters who served us as dinner at the Peppercorn restaurant didn't have any knowledge of the quality of wines offered on the menu, which was disappointing as the wines are relatively expensive. Sands is perfect for couples, family and groups of friends - I liked the fact that there were no kids, making it feel very peaceful. The staff were very polite and helpful. The breakfast was good. The chefs, Ashok and Nalindee were always very cheerful and prepared the omelette exactly the way we wanted. At dinner in the a la carte restaurants Rishi was very patient and helpful explaining all the various dishes. The food was good. Franscisco at the Dolphin Bar was also very helpful. […] Melvin the Concierge helped organise our day trips and also our transport to the airport. The rooms were very clean. The location, facilities and range of activities of this resort was excellent. The standard of service of the staff was very poor with the exception of the night staff who did our greeting and the room service people. The internet facilities in the library didn't work and the communication with staff very poor - especially from the reception staff. Most […] disappointing of all was the poor standard of food. Paying a premium price we received either average or poor standard of food. There was enough to eat but a sameness about it all despite there being official themed days in the evening meal. Our boxed breakfast on our departure morning outstanding for the WORST reasons - easily the most unhygenic and poor quality of food we've been presented anywhere let alone at a resort that charges premium prices. No food wrapped, no drink, bread stale and all fruit bruised. That we were left with this as our last impression was pathetic and indicative of their concern for us as 'guests'. Read more

Thoroughly enjoyable. Very pleasant, unobtrusive staff. Good facilities (except internet connectivity, which was weak and intermittent). Good variety of cuisine and drinks in the main outlets, Tamarin and poolside (didn't test the others). Good enough gym. Overall a great place to unwind, relax and enjoy an effortless holiday.

Right on a very nice quiet beach, the typical postcard setting, mountains in the background, large reef - very shallow, a bit too shallow for serious swimming perhaps - so very warm sea water, free of charge use of small sailing boat etc. from the resort's boat house, friendly and helpful staff. We had a comfortable room on the highest (2nd) floor, […] so nice sea-view from our balcony and no upstairs neighbours shifting their chairs on the tile floor at night; our room was also quiet because it was located as far away as possible from "the general areas". The resort is located ideally for those who wish to tour the inland plateau towns by rental car, or for visiting the lively Port Louis for a day. If you have a rental car, and days to spend: also enjoy the sunset from the public beach in Flic en Flac (10 minutes drive) followed by having dinner in one of the local restaurants there (if you don't wish to stay in the resort all the time). My girlfriend and I stayed at the Sands Resort for five days in early December and it was exceptional. The service is first-rate, the rooms (all the deluxe rooms are identical) are huge and comfortable, all facing the ocean, and the location is stunning. The food at the restaurant is excellent, and it's worth getting one of the set menus at the fine […] dining restaurants or having the degustation menu on the beach for a special occasion - they pull out all the stops. Flew Air France via Paris. Good service but obviously direct would have been better but not available at the cost. Met by local Connections rep on behalf of Expedia. The whole package was spot on and great value even at late notice. The hotel is simply excellent. The service was much better than expected. Beim Checkin wurden wir sehr formal abgehandelt..Die Zimmer wurden erst nach Reklamtion am Nachmittag aufgraeumt.Die Lage des Hotels ist ok.Die Preise sind zu hoch bei diesem auf Massenbehandlung ausgerichteten Service.Das maennliche Personal war freundlicher als das weibl Personal.Wir koennen das Hotel nicht weiterempfehlen.

Maten var lite av en besvikelse, det vart lite samma av allt, trots olika teman på buffé kvällar. Den finare restaurangen "Pink Pepparcorn" trodde vi skulle ha en lyxigare meny, men där var the big seafood platter ett skämt, en räka vardera osv, en döliten hummer - att dela på???!! En torr klick ris till och söndergrillade grönsaker och ingen sås. Vi […] förstod senare att återvändarna helt enkelt beställde egna rätter / menyer och då blir det säkert bättre. De två sista dagarna var en bebis på plats, vilket förstörde friden. Den här typen av resort har allt att vinna på att köra totalt barnfritt. Vi betalade för att ha lugn och ro, lämnade bort våra egna barn, då har vi inte lust att lyssna på något annat barns skrik och gnäll. Staff tutto molto gentile e disponibile per ogni evenienza (il general director in persona ci ha prestato il suo caricabatterie del cellulare), camere spaziose, luminose e con vista mare (tutte), possibilità di numerose attività acquatiche (dallo sci d'acqua allo snorkeling al semplice pedalò) tutte gratuite e seguite dallo staff […] (che gioca anche a ping ping con voi se avete bisogno di un patner). L'hotel n'est pas trop grand, les chambres sont propres et très spacieuse ainsi que la salle de bains avec bain et douche. Tout le personnel est accueillant et très sympathique. Le service est de qualité. La plupart des activités sportives sont gratuites, y compris le ski nautique. Le SPA est très agréable avec des massages à un tarif très correct.
