Staff was professional, courteous and helpful. They get high scores on the ocean view and the breakfast package. Above all the the view from the rooms on the ocean side is beautiful. However, I would give them very low scores on three areas of guest services: 1)Internet access: They actually charge 3.50 Euros an hour for wifi and even charge for use […] of the lobby guest computers. For free internet / wifi access I had to go down the street to McDonalds. Does the Doleman management realize that it is The year 2012? 2)Room climate control: They advertise A/C in the rooms but it really does not work. Their we're 7 people in my party, each with their own room but no one could manage to get the A/C functioning - a real scam if you ask me. 3)Security: each room comes with a safe but to get a key to work the safe cost 11 Euros. This hotel had a lot of amenities that were very convienent. We rented bicycles and the luggage room behind the front desk had plenty of room and was free. The view from the back side of the hotel is pretty lacking, looks into an alleyway. But if you get a ocean view it's beautiful. The pools, spa and even the beach that is part of the hotel property were all very clean and well staffed. Didn't get a chance to have a spa treatment but the place was gorgeous and has tons of packages for pretty reasonable price. Just got back from Malta. We are from California with family in Malta. I read practically every previous review and was nervous that it wouldn't be what I expected. When we got there I was happy to see our room was very nice, roomy and updated. The upgrade to a sea view room is a good idea. The AC worked well, the view was marvelous, the hotel was in […] good shape. The breakfast was good, buffet style, and lots of variety. The pools were nice, the "animation team" put on several interesting shows. The neighborhood was lively and filled with European tourists and vacationing locals. The location was excellent with the bus station behind the hotel - new bus system -buses didn't always stop at regular stops when full. All in all, a great hotel and a great time. Even the locals recognize the Dolmen as a very nice hotel. My only "sniggle" is that there were at times fingerprints on the front glass doors and elevator and it gave the impression of not being clean when the rest of the place was very nice. If would improve the look of the place greatly if they could just take care of that. Also, it seemed one of our maids didn't clean our room so well for a few days, but the other maids did. A few other things: Good places to eat: Fat Harry's and Mirabelle, and Ta Nicole at the square. Don't miss Sofra's cheap and yummy eats at the square also. The large hotel complex offered something for everyone. The vintage wine bar was especially good with a great selection of cocktails! Was good but the room service cost was a bit of a joke €5 for room service. I did order a paper for every morning which i never recieved which was a little annyoing. I think the major issue was arround the use of the gym...to many little kids messing around and half of them did not belong in the hotel. Apart from that it was a nice relaxing hotel.

Despite a guaranteed arrival, we were assigned the wrong room type (we booked twin beds and got a single double bed). The real issue, however, was the appalling condition of the room, which looked like it hadn't been upgraded or modernized in 10-15 years. The air conditioning unit was broken AND the humidity was so bad in the room that the floor was […] sopping wet and smelled rank/malodorous. **Guests should beware that the rooms aren't ALL in the condition shown on the hotel website.** Told that there was nothing they could do, we spent a horribly uncomfortable first night. The next day, we moved to a renovated room that was STILL the wrong type (smoking vs. non-smoking) but we were so tired of dealing with the front desk that we decided to stick it out. After arguing with the hotel manager, they agreed to give us a resort credit for our inconvenience. It was a good thing we got his name because at check-out (lo and behold!) we were told we only had 25% off our additional charges and NOT the full amount of the credit. More arguing ensued until they finally agreed to honor what they promised us. Finally, the concierge tried to scam me into paying full price for a taxi-share with another couple. Note to all travelers: an airport taxi is €25 TOTAL, no matter how many passengers are in the car. When I challenged the extra fees being charged, they backed down immediately. AVOID THE DOLMEN!!! There are better hotels available in Malta with higher service and ethical standards. Read more

We stayed here for a lads get away and got an unbelievably cheap rate for our 3 double rooms in off season January. - 103euro for three nights. Firstly the hotel is located just a few minutes walk from B'Bugia Bay, which is a nice relaxing place to stay whilst in Malta. The general hotel facilities are good, here's a few points to note (good and bad): - […] WiFi internet is charged at an extremely inflated rate, It could be as high as over 25euro for a full day. In this day an age this is highly unreasonable. - The Breakfast buffet is fantastic but closes at 10PM SHARP! - The rooms we were staying in were adequate but certainly not of a 4 star standard. - Late check out till 6pm is offered for an additional fee, we stayed till 2pm with no additional fee charged - The bathrooms are modern and clean - Pool and sauna facilities are adequate but not 4 star standard - The small room mini bar is very reasonably priced at 2.00euro for a beer - Staff are friendly - The casino downstairs is a nice place to whittle away a few hours (and a few quid). Free ham and cheese toasties and.or tea/coffee are provided upon request to make your loosing just a little more bearable. Alcoholic drinks are very reasonably price with a bottle of beer just 1.50euro To Conclude: This hotel is not really 4 star overall - some parts of it are. but it was really good value considering what we paid for the rooms and I would most certainly think about staying here again next time I visit Malta. f you are looking for a easy relaxing holiday then this is the place. My party included teenagers, middle agers and pensioners and we all found it very enjoyable. However some were a little poky with a silly unusable balcony. Others had great space and balcony so for us it was pot luck which room we got. The only slight annoyance was once I’d braved the cold bar pool so I could swim to the bar and enjoy a cocktail only to be told it was closed! I must say though that once in the pool it was very nice. There are 5+ pools to choose from so you can find a quiet spot if you don’t like lively. The staff are very happy to help and all seemed very pleasant to me. I would go gain if looking for a chill out holiday. We did jump on one of the old busses for a trip to Valetta to see St Pauls but I’m really into art or old churches/architecture so Malta, for me anyway, is a lazy relaxed hotel holiday and the Dolmen is perfect for that. The room I was given was not renovated, that’s probably the only hotel I stayed in that TV did not have remote control and when air conditioning was on it was the same as trying to sleep on a plane (actually worse). Flight to Malta on Air Malta was good but in-flight food was very poor. Transferred in time to Dolmen which is quite a big 4 star hotel. We were given lovely sea front rooms on the 4th floor with beautiful views of the ocean and pool. Breakfast was very good with a selection of hot and cold foods. Wine was reasonably priced at Euro 7.50 for a litre of house wine. Other facilities in hotel were casino to which we went during 2 nights. However they didn't have too many poker slot machines. Plenty of bars and also a night club. Surrounding area was nice too with plenty of shops, bars and restaurants 5 minutes down the road. On the whole very pleased with the hotel. The minor complaints we had were lack of pool towels and bathroom not up to the standards compared to rest of room which was very modern. We did excursions to Gozo and also did the hop on- hop off bus around south Malta which was very interesting. On the whole I love Malta and would certainly return back if I got a good deal. Byggarbetsplats, färg som saknades på väggar och känns som att hotellet behöver renoveras inom några år. Service var ok men ganska otrevlig personal och dåliga på engelska.

För oss som familj, 2 vuxna och två barn (9 & 12 år), passade hotellet perfekt. Snorkling vid den egna stranden samt bra bufféer vid frukost och middag var höjdpunkten för barnen. Hotellet är en bra utgångspunkt för utflykter (Vi hade en hyrbil hela tiden). Vi reste i slutet av oktober och vi rekommenderar gärna detta hotell.
