Although the resort condition and services are average but if compared to other hotels and resorts in Sharm El Sheikh it is definetaly one of the very best. The sea view is great from most rooms, and stuff are very friendly.

We spent a very relaxing four nights at the Grand Rotana. We had booked a Deluxe room, but the hotel was quite empty and on asking at check-in we were upgraded to a room with a full sea view. There is enough on offer inside the resort that it would have been possible to spend our entire stay there, but we took advantage of the on-site Camel Dive centre […] to arrange diving and snorkelling trips (which involved a minibus trip to Naama Bay). The resort has quite a long section of reef where you can do some good snorkelling without having to go anywhere else. The breakfast buffet was good, and among the various dinner options we were particularly impressed with the Silk Road oriental restaurant. We found prices comparable to UK restaurant prices, or slightly cheaper. For lunch there are several reasonably-priced options, including pizza or pasta at the Italian restaurant for EGP 50-60. The staff were without exception friendly and helpful. There is even a pharmacy on-site which stays open late (if you forget your insect repellent, like us!), but it was over-priced compared to Naama Bay, so only use it if necessary. Overall, we had a fantastic holiday and wouldn't hesitate to go back. Read more

The value for money at this resport is incredible! The resort is very large but not full of people. The grounds are beautiful and very well maintained. The rooms are very comforatable and well decorated. The only downside is that the big pool is not heated and too cold to go in when it isn't very hot out. We actually got a double upgrade, which was nice. I think they had run out of sea view rooms, which we had booked. In the end, the double upgrade looked like what we thought we were getting at two grades below, but I think a lot of the upgrade was simply where the room was located, which was right on the sea. Grand Rotana has to be the most beautiful hotel resort I have stayed in... the views and the pools are the best I have seen. Their gym and spa facilities are brilliant... you can watch the the sea whilst working out. The staff were so friendly and accommodating, they always worked to meet our needs. Enjoyed our stay, could have done without the music around the pool but it didn't detract from the overall experience. Used the Diver centre at the hotel sea front to arrange our dive trips with Camel dive who gave great dive experience if a little hectic logistics arrangements. Hotel was very impressive. What made it for me was the brilliant pool and amazing beach area and the fact you could navigate the hotel easily. The food was brilliant and I would know as I am very fussy about food. Prices are very good in this restaurant. You may wait a while (maybe half hour) as it is made fresh and not simply re heated.In contrast I thought the breakfast was a complete let down and needs to be sorted out. Even if they just bought a proper coffee machine and a few nice cakes it would be better. They need to have more stations with chefs cooking crepes, omelettes etc and sort good coffee out. Finally the staff make this hotel. It reminds me of Dubai where I stay a lot. They are friendly and extremely helpful but not in your face. I stayed in the so called best hotel in Sharm and the staff were helpful but terrified. I don't like that. All in all I did my research before I came and will return without hesitation. It is definitely a 5 star hotel and in my opinion, better all round than the so called best hotel in Sharm which is a pain to get around. This hotel is far away from the main market. Shuttle service is only 3 times in a day. For any other times you need to pay 10$ one way per person. No airport transfers are provided for free. They charge you 100 LE for providing transportation to airport which will not cost you more than 25 LE if you take a normal taxi. Rooms are below average, please […] do not even think about taking a garden view room, it appears like a hostel room. There are no bath tubs in the bathroom, TVs in the room are ancient and their remote controls do not work properly, It is a hyped resort really. Don't go by the nice pictures they post on website. The overall facility is lovely and the common areas (spa, restaurants, pools, lobby) are magnificent, 5 star quality. The room was 3 star at best. I had an ant issue in the bathroom and they did not make up my room one day even though I was out at the pool from 10-4. Also, in true Egyptian style, I made the reservation the night before on-line. Apparently, […] only one person who works in the hotel can answer questions about on-line reservations/download them into the hotel system and she/he doesn't get there until 9:30 am the next day. The infinity pool was lovely, but they need to trim the bushes as they detract from the infinity concept as they obstruct the view between the pool and the red sea. Fantastic hotel, very clean, well built, excellent food with much variety and very friendly staff. The coral reef at the hotel had amazing fish. Swimming pool area was superb. No beach though, just rocks and jetties for the coral reef. Worth paying for a sea view upgrade. Highly recommended if you want blue skies and 30 degree heat in November !

Nous avons passé une très bonne semaine dans cet hôtel. Nous avons pris la formule club qui donne accès un sorte de lounge pour les apéritifs, café, petits déjeuner, petits canapés et pâtisseries, internet. C'est plutôt un bon choix. L'hotel en lui même est bien entretenu, de bon gout, les jardins sont superbes. Le personnel est très courtois et très […] serviable (si on avait ça en France !) Je vous recommande une vue sur la mer ++sinon bof bof. La restauration est correcte; un restaurant se démarque dans l hôtel (silk road). Le rapport qualité prix est très correct. Peut être que la qualité de la nourriture peut encore progresser. Mais c'est mineur. Il existe une pharmacie très bien fournie en produits variés (anti hypertenseurs, antibio) une ordonnance ne sera probablement pas nécessaire- utile pour les oublis et les soucis locaux. Tenu par un docteur en pharmacie. A priori pas de gastro dans cet hôtel. Nous nous sommes lavés les dents avec l'eau du robinet sans problème. La piscine , le hammam, le spa, et salle de sport sont très bien et très propres. J'ai testé. Des voyages sont organisés pour la journée (Petra, Louxor, plongée) à des taris raisonnables. Nous nous sommes senti en toute sécurité dans ce hôtel. Les côtes, enceintes sont surveillées jour et nuit. Une fois j'ai oublié un DVD au Club, il a été gardé et je l'ai récupéré le lendemain. On ne craint pas le vol. Pour ma part, il y a 1000 fois moins de risque dans cet hôtel que dans le métro à Paris. Relax ! Météo durant le séjour (fev 2012) : 19°C a 27°C selon les jours, soleil, quelques passages nuageux sans grande importance. Wir wurden beim Check-Out mit horrenden Internet Preisen ueberrascht - laut Log-In Seite liegt der Minutenpreis bei $0.50 und der Tagespreis bei $20. Wiir haben das Internet ca 10 min pro Tag genuetzt, allerdings mit 2 Computern, und haben $40-50 pro Tag gezahlt. Wir hatten keine Moeglichkeit diesen Preis zu korriegieren. Insgesamt ansonsten sehr freundliches […] Personal, sehr kinderfreundlich. Kinderstuehle sind alt, schmutzig und unbequem und das Kinderbett hatte Floehe! Das Hotel ist ein Riesenkomplex mit vielen vor allem russische Reisegruppen. Die Restaurants sind gut und abwechslungsreich. Das Grillretaurant direkt am Meer ist sehr zu empfehlen. In den letzten Tagen gab es mehrere Angriffe von Haien auf Touristen in der Gegend, das Hotel besitzt jedoch Netze um seine Schwimmzonen. Vous trouverez en face de l'hôtel un récif absolument magnifique, juste besoin d'un masque et tuba pour passer la journée dans l'eau. Par contre le service est vraiment limite, personnel peu agréable. La propreté des chambres […] est déplorable. Flott hotell med vell skjøtte fellesområder. Er man ute etter en stille ferie med ro, så er det mulig å finner det her. Vakker hage, blomster og en kjempediger svømme basseng i fri form. Eget treningssenter med moderne apparater og badstue og spa. Hotellet har en lang strand linje som består av et rev der det er ypperlig å snorkle. Det er ikke lov å […] tråkke på revet, men det er lagt ut to brygger for å komme ut på dypt vann for å svømme langs med revets vegg. Det er mange sol stoler å velge på ved vannet og det er mulig å menge seg med de som liker å ligge tett innpå hverandre eller å velge et mer avsides sted. Alle restaurantene serverer i gjennomsnitt god mat, men prisene er nesten som hjemme. Det som løfter total inntrykket er hyggelige service og den avslappede romantiske omgivelsen. Det er ikke mye til underholdning for voksne på hotellet, dvs ingen show eller opptreden kveldstid. Går man i noen av barene så spilles det levende musikk, saksofon. Rund svømmebassengen spilles det på dagtid høy 70 talls musikk. Gir en følelse av å ha havnet i en tidslomme og at livet har stått still i 35 år. Diskoteket spiller R&B, Hip-Hop og Trans på lørdag og søndag, men da er det mange som har avreisedag så det er ikke mye folk. Hver kveld vises det to filmer utendørs i det romerske teatret ved stranden, en opera og en spillefilm. Bildekvaliteten var så elendig så det var aldri et menneske å se der. Vi hadde bestilt standard / klassisk rom på internett. I rombeskrivelsen står det at det er balkong. Dette er ikke tilfelle. Vi fikk rom uten balkong. Man kunne åpne et vindu. I blokken der vi bodde var ca halvparten av rommen uten balkong. Vi klaget, og fikk beskjeden, at ville vi hatt balkong så måtte dette vært skrevet på anmerkning ved bestillingen. I tillegg mente de at det ikke var ledige rom med balkong og at romfordelingen gikk på ”random”, ikke noe de kunne gjøre noe med.
