We arrived at the hotel the weekend before the new king's coronation. Much of the area around the hotel was under construction or otherwise blocked off. After calling the hotel, the concierge met us a handled parking the car. It is a bit confusing that the Hampshire and the Eden Hotel are the same place, with entries on different streets. We arrived […] a bit early and were given a room that appeared to be in a basement although it was on the 3rd floor. We asked for something nicer and were given a delightful room on the 5th floor overlooking the canals. Overall, the hotel was nice, the staff helpful and friendly and the location is great for seeing Amsterdam. I do not recommend visiting around the king's coronation due to the extra crowds, but for some that could be part of the adventure. Anyway, there shouldn't be another coronation for many years. Friendly, helpful staff and an excellent location in the center of the city. The exact location will initially make you worry that it might be noisy at night, but they seem to have glazed the windows or something-- I had quiet, restful nights.

Very helpful staff. Spent New Year's eve here and could not think of a better location for the action in Amsterdam. The good: The hotel is in a great location within Rembrant square. There are many bars, coffee shops and resteraunts nearby. Most of the important areas of Amsterdame are in walking distance. The bad: The room may have been cleaned but the carpet was ratty, and the bathroom had a smell. Additionally, the shower would flood the bathroom floor if used […] over half pressure. Something to note. The only thing seperating the shower from the main room is a glass wall only partially screened with semi transparent frosted glass. Fine if you are with a spouse or girlfriend. Overall, a value hotel. Spacious for European hotels, but nothing special. However, the location was good as it was easy to walk to everywhere. The housekeepers were very lazy though. Close to Rembrandtplein, pretty easy access from tram out of central station. Internet costs extra (25 euro), except for hotel/chain sites for reservations, so take your laptop/mobile to access wifi elsewhere (we found this quite inconvenient). Rooms are nice, very quiet. Able to sleep late without disturbance.

Ive stayed at this hotel for five straight years while visiting Amsterdam. The hotel has recently changed hands and is no longer an Eden hotel. The condition of he carpeting in my room was disgusting. The amount of stains on the carpet was shameful for a hotel that claims its 4 star. This is my 3rd or 4th stay here , so obviously for me it meets my needs. First of all the staff is great along with a sense of humor. I was also I graded to a larger room without even asking. As I've said in the past , the location is great, the Rembrandtplein is a fun area to be in , outdoor cages ,a few traditional Dutch bars, gay bars, coffe shops […] , it has it all. My room faced Rembradt plein and was next to elevator. Huge party outside and outside foot traffic kept me awake two nights until 5 am. Worst quality sleep I have had in years. No wireless service except in lobby so of course everyone congregates there to use their phones and computers. A very nice hotel, but it was noisy at night due to the proximity to Rembrandt square. HOwever, this may have been unusual as there had been a European soccer championship quarterfinal game that night. The hotel also promised free wi-fi, but it was awkward and you had to register via the TV set.

I was surprised by finding such a good hotel, since I wasn't expecting it. Modern, nice and well located. There was free wifi in the room. The breakfast wasn't included and it was far too expensive (17.50€), so we went to a coffee shop next to the hotel.

Overall it is a very nice hotel. The only real complaint I have is the staff seems to not know or have a general procedure for shuttles to the airport. We had to go to another hotel, then we were told they would pick us up at the Eden, then they wouldnt pick us up there. Frustrating! Very nice and comfortable hotel only a block off Rembrandtplein.

If you are looking to be in the middle of it all this is the perfect hotel. The only issue I had was the carpet in my room was horrid. Huge stains all over. It looked like 30 people pored soda or god knows what on the floor. Besides that wonderful.

The location of this hotel is excellent for tourists. The staff was helpful at all times. The room we stayed in on our previous visit which was June 14, 2011 was more comfortable but both rooms were clean which is most important to us.
