This hotel came to us an extremely pleasant surprise. I booked the hotel for two reasons: cost and location and it completely exceeded our expectations. All the hotels we stayed at during our trip abroad cost about the same as the Melia and the Melia was by far better than the rest. Its a luxury hotel. I didn't know it at the time I booked it, but its luxury. I highly recommend it to everyone.

My boyfriend and I just returned from a stay at Melia Berlin. The hotel exceeded our expectations. The staff was very nice. We arrived 4 hours early and they got us our room right away. The room was a great size and quality for the price we paid. The area around the hotel was great too. Within walking distance to great clothing shopping stores, a grocery store and right next to the river. There are some nice restaurants just across the river to try. We even rented bikes from the hotel for a reasonable cost. Would recommend the hotel to anyone visiting Berlin.

I had booked 'the level' room but I ended up being upgraded to a junior suite, which was the start of an excellent few days in Berlin. The hotel and it's staff were fantastic, everything was lovely and the hotel just felt safe and full of qaulity. The only downside was the tapas resturant that is part of the hotel melia, the food was awful (Germans trying to be Spanish) other than that it truely was a beautiful, comfy and safe hotel in a fantastic location right in the heart of Berlin.

The Melia Berlin was outstanding and gorgeous! It was very modern and well-kept. It was within walking distance of The Brandenburg Gate and only a short taxi ride to the main train station. A couple of the front desk associates were not too quick on the uptake, but the concierge spoke perfect English and was very helpful. The business center had the option to automatically set the language to English. The room was quiet even though a busy street with lots of shopping and eats was just outside. The Melia Berlin was fabulously ecologically friendly too! The room key must be placed in a slot by the front door to keep the lights on (the senior citizen traveling with me did not care for this though). I would definitely stay here again!

Excellent hotel right in Berlin's city center. Spanish restaurant and flair, modern rooms and friendly personnel. You'll need very deep pockets, though. Breakfast at the hotel will cost you EUR 22, so I recommend going next door to "Supergood" which offers first class breakfasts for around EUR 10. The only (but major for some) downside of this hotel is the outrageous fee for wireless internet service. They charge EUR 22 for 24hrs (around $30). The hotel should fix this as soon as possible.

The hotel is set in an excellent area, Friedrichstrasse is served by many forms of transport from the S-Bahn, which you can use to get from Berlin-Schonefeld Airport (S9). The train station, which is situated next to the hotel can also take you to Alexanderplatz which has a big shopping arcade, the zoo and lots of other places and is very easy to use. There is also the U-Bahn which is very close to the hotel, this can be used to get to various places like Checkpoint Charlie. There are also buses and trams. We tended to walk everywhere though, a nice 10 minute walk along the River Spree brings you to the Reichstag, then just around the corner from the Reichstag is Brandenburg Gate. There are lots of places to eat beside the River Spree, there is also a restaurant in the hotel which we didn't use. The hotel itself is very nice. The staff speak English, which is great as I do not know any, but the person I was with did. They're very helpful, asking whether you would like a room facing out onto the street or a quiet room round the back. They then give you the room keys, which are also used to activate the lift. Which is a very good security measure. We had the Comfort Room, this was all we really needed for our short stay. It has the necessities; big bed, chairs, desk, television, (expensive) minibar, cupboard and a bathroom. Overall, we had a good stay. It was set in an excellent location and it helped us get everything we needed out of the short break.

A very smart hotel in the centre of Berlin. A stone's throw from the famous Friedrichstrasse Banhof. The hotel offers very comfortable rooms and very relaxing public spaces. Two small complaints: although there's a mini-bar in the rooms there are no tea and coffee making facilities, secondly the WiFi network is both expensive and there's no free access that we found in the public areas. The staff however were exceptional: friendly, helpful, efficient and multi-lingual. As a base for exploring Berlin the hotel is well placed for the Brandenburg Gate, the Reichstag (the walk to the top of the dome is a must do especially at sunset but be prepared to wait in line), as well as the museum quarter and Alexanderplatz. Slightly further afield it a good walk to the Tiergarten and Potsdammer Platz. Overall a very comfortable hotel in a great central location which I would recommend for City-Breakers and short-stays for the various markets
