"terrible service in a challenging location"
We stayed here for one-night because it was a Starwood property and expected good service. Unfortunately, this was the worst hotel experience of our 3 week trip across Europe. The hotel concierge was unresponsive prior to arrival and failed to arrange our "free" transfer from the Ferry to the hotel, so we were left at the port / terminal without transportation […] on arrival. The hotel was not in a convenient location and we had other issues with the hotel concierge's complimentary transfer services. The hotel was far from other sites and inconveniently located. The pool was nice, but overall, the hotel concierge was over-worked, not helpful, and unapologetic about a number of basic guest needs. This hotel was understaffed for the number of guests, location, and the price we paid for the room. We left in a hurry and wished we had stayed somewhere else. "Great service, beautiful hotel, totally relaxing"
The rooms were exactly as advertised and beautifully maintained. Breakfast was perfect with great coffee! All staff were knowledgeable and friendly. They even prepared coffee at 515 in the morning before we had to leave for the airport. Drinks were a little expensive at the pool bar and the music at the pool was a bit strange. Overall it was a wonderful […] stay and I would definitely go back. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"An idyllic break - highly recommended."
This is not a main City 5*, but is highly recommended. Located in a lovely quiet village it offers good accommodation in a tranquil setting and in easy reach of other locations/interests. The front desk staff were very helpful and the standards of food and service were high. Our only quibbles were that the main pool was too cold and that the hotel's […] audio system damaged a CD that was a birthday present to my wife. I reported this, but was disappointed that the hotel did not offer a replacement or compensation. These only slightly marred a thoroughly enjoyable stay. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
We stayed at the Vedema for 3 days while travelling trough Greece for our honeymoon. Hotel was very unique and charming, built on a very old winery. The staff was helpful and very friendly. Breakfast was great. Rooms were large and comfortable and very nicely decorated. Not the most convenient location, however the hotel has a great complimentary shuttle […] service you can take into the town (Fira) or to the private beach. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Shower were only about 2 degrees away from COLD. Staff lacked the intimacy/friendliness expected of a small boutique hotel. Gym equipment was old, weight selection was limited, running machine was broken. First night they will pre-book you into the neighbouring restaurant, The food there was my worst meal in all of Greece.Genuine Expedia guest review
Response by Vedema Resort We would like to thank you for your recent stay with us and for taking the time to share your feedback. We were surprised that you faced issues with hot water in your room as this was never reported to our Front Desk by your self or any other of our guest staying in the same block as yours. Had we been informed would the matter have been resolved immediately. We need to express our amazement towards the fact that you felt that our staff lacked in intimacy/friendliness. The feedback we have had so far from all of our guests shows quite the contrary. All of our guests refer to our staff with the most kind words and praises. We are sorry that the gym did not meet up to your expectations, honestly we have not had a complain so far. We apologize indeed that one of our running machines was out of order, we did our best to repair it the soonest possible. Please be so kind and advice which Restaurant you are referring to, as the only Restaurant we make pre bookings for is the Vinsanto Restaurant which is within our property. We are proud of the reviews we have had so far as the comments have been excellent. We regret to hear that it did not meet up to your culinary standards. We hope to have the chance to have you with us again in the future and do our outmost to live up to your expectations.
"Bad Internet even worse Housekeeping!"
08/01/14 Stephen G
Upon our arrival the hotel looked great, they serve you lemonade when you arrive and the front desk is excellent. Our room was locate near the street and you can bear every car passing by. The room looked great when we first got into it and then started realizing that everything was falling apart. We opened the drawer in the closet and the front panel fell off in my hand. The bed is like the flinstones bed, practically a rock! The housekeeping service never replenished our water (even tho there is a letter that tells you not to drink the water out of the faucet, you'd figure they would always leave you water) the housekeeping staff would never come back if you told them to come back later. Later meant tomorrow to them. The worst part of this trip was the internet service, getting a connection to their network was the hardest thing and the worst part was actually staying connected! The connection always dropped and we had to keep reconnecting! On our 2nd to last day our internet just wouldn't work at all! The servers at the bar are super friendly and Iona at the breakfast buffet is the nicest person. This hotel is 15 minutes away from Fira which is the place you want to be. If you plan on staying here just make sure they do not place you in building H, every hour the bells to the church go off and it is very loud especially from 12am to 7am when your trying to sleep. Overall, would never stay here again and will definitely not recommend it.
"Vedema Resort is Outstanding!"

As longterm lovers of Greece and Santorini in particular, we have extremely high standards for the hotels in which we choose to spend our vacation time. Professionally we travel extesnsively and have stayed in many iompressive places and the fact that this was our third visit to Vedema does in many ways speak for itself, however our last visit (July 2014) is worthy of special mention as Vedema really does improve year after year. From the minute that you walk through the beautiful cobbled entranceway you are made to feel so very welcome and at home The staff are amazing; extremely professional and attentive and yet still manage to make you feel that you are a friend. The pool area is stunning, the rooms are quite simply magnificient, the restaurant is refitted this year and has views to die for over the stunning village of Megalochori. Our vacation was so special that I cried as I left, even now I am cheered only by the fact that upon our return we booked again for September this year. I cannot praise or recommend Vedema resort highly enough, please visit and enjoy!
I stayed 4 nights in this resort and it was perfect. Good facilities like pool, jacuzzi, resturants,24 hour reception, a spot in black rose beach, coplemtary transfer.I stayed in Olympic Villa and was very beautiful, it had a pool, indoor and outdoor jacuzzi, big living room, large bathroom, big room. I highly recommend this hotel for people or families who want quietness. It was realy nice.
"Average facilities, remote location"

This hotel is located a little off the main towns - it is a 10-15min drive to Fira and 30min drive from Oia. On the SPG web site, this hotel is rated as a very high end hotel. The pool and dining restaurant are average for the cost and price. The breakfast buffet was very good near the pool area. However, the dinner restaurant needs to be renovated since there was dirt falling from the ceiling inside. The gym was also very run down. We did not venture into the spa based on the weak other features. Highly recommend renting a car if you are going to stay here since you will need to drive to Fira and Oia. For the price and SPG ranking of this hotel, I was disappointed.
"Beautiful hotel nestled in Santorini"
07/20/14 globalnomad12 Austin, Texas
We spent two nights at the Vedema Resort at the end of May - it's located somewhat off the beaten path when it comes to Santorini, away from Fira and Oia, nestled in a beautiful setting surrounded by vineyards. The staff was fantastic, very friendly and helpful. We really enjoyed the wine tasting on the grounds and I would highly recommend it! We rented a car on suggestion of the front desk, something definitely worthwhile for a day, as it's the best way to see the island, and you're not bound by the shuttle times

We spent 5 nights at the Vadema Resort. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the rooms were fantastic and the breakfast was excellent. We also liked the little village of Megalochori. It was fun traveling to Fira and Oia during the day, being part of the hustle and bustle of Santorini, but coming home to a nice and quiet village in the evening.
"Beautiful hotel with great service!"

Great spacious suites for families! Breakfast could use some tweaking - many of the "hot" offerings were cold, even when we went right when the service opened. We found out on our last day (too late) that there is a private section of beach only ten minutes away. Would have loved to have our children take advantage of that! LOVELY quaint village steps away from hotel. Great shopping in original, artisanal boutiques. Restaurants in area were ok - heard Feggera was worth checking out. The rock paths throughout the resort were a bit difficult for my 80 year old (in good shape) father in law to navigate. My kids also loved the stray dogs (more like village dogs) that floated in and out of the resort and around the town. There was much begging to bring one home! We had lunch on one occasion. It was ok - but quite pricey. All staff were very friendly and willing to please. WiFi was a bit spotty... Drive to Oia (for sunset dinner) was about 30 min taxi ride (about 35 Euros). Would stay there again and would recommend.
"The Vedema Resort fine Restaurant Alati in the old winery was absolutely fantastic!"
07/12/14 Jim K Plano, Texas
We had our wedding rehearsal dinner in the Starwood Hotels and Resort luxury Collection Vedema Resort Alati restaurant in Megalochori, Santorini Greece on June 23rd 2014. Stamatis Iseris the manager helped us plan the perfect menu. Everything from the appetizers, entries, veggies, wines, champagne, aperitifs and desserts were outstanding. They were all served to our group of 28 in the 400 year old winery. The ambiance of being in a winery with walls almost Four feet thick, made of stone added to everyone's satisfaction. The candlelit table settings set the right mood for the occasion. The quality of the food was outstanding. It was served perfect, on time, and in nice portions. The entries which consisted of pastichio, sea-bass pasta, and steak all tasted fabulous. The Santorini salad, wines, and other appetizers were exquisite All in all it was the special evening you would want before our son's and future daughter-in-law's wedding. Our two families were treated to an event we will all remember. The staff was terrific. Thank you Alati and staff I highly recommend Vedema Resorts and Alati restaurant to everyone visiting Santorini. Jim Kiriakos
"A unique hotel in a unique island"
07/12/14 DAVELIS2013 Athens, Greece
Despite the fact that the hotel is not situated in the most famous side of the Island of Santorini (Kaldera), but in a tranditional Greek village by the time that you enter the hotel you feel the vibes of luxury. The rooms (appartments) are like small houses with plenty of space, excellent decoration, soft beds, private yard in front of it. The pool is kind of small but with a nice view of the village and a little bit of the island. The breakfast is by far the best I ever tasted, a vast variety of everything that someone might ask for the beggining of his day. Last but not least the hotel has been built on an old winery and its worth to visit it.

This is a beautiful Hotel with great service. If you want peace and quiet this is the place for you. I was a little disappointed in the location. It is not looking over the Sea but in the middle of the Island so their are no views of the Aegean Sea. It was also very difficult to walk around on the Lava rock paths throughout the Resort. The rooms were beautiful and food and drink delicious. They have another property overlooking the Sea so choose carefully. You might be a little confused because they both have the same name but in different towns.
