The hotel and surrounding town are charming. It was very relaxing and a good location to be based. Next time I would rent a car to drive around the island as it is so small it is easy to drive around Santorini in a day. It is a pity that the pool and jacuzzi were not warm enough, but hopefully they can improve upon that. The staff are more than accommodating […] and went above and beyond the call of duty, including upgrading my friend and I to nicer rooms. I would definitely recommend this hotel to family and friends. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"terrible service in a challenging location"
We stayed here for one-night because it was a Starwood property and expected good service. Unfortunately, this was the worst hotel experience of our 3 week trip across Europe. The hotel concierge was unresponsive prior to arrival and failed to arrange our "free" transfer from the Ferry to the hotel, so we were left at the port / terminal without transportation […] on arrival. The hotel was not in a convenient location and we had other issues with the hotel concierge's complimentary transfer services. The hotel was far from other sites and inconveniently located. The pool was nice, but overall, the hotel concierge was over-worked, not helpful, and unapologetic about a number of basic guest needs. This hotel was understaffed for the number of guests, location, and the price we paid for the room. We left in a hurry and wished we had stayed somewhere else. "Great service, beautiful hotel, totally relaxing"
The rooms were exactly as advertised and beautifully maintained. Breakfast was perfect with great coffee! All staff were knowledgeable and friendly. They even prepared coffee at 515 in the morning before we had to leave for the airport. Drinks were a little expensive at the pool bar and the music at the pool was a bit strange. Overall it was a wonderful […] stay and I would definitely go back. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"An idyllic break - highly recommended."
This is not a main City 5*, but is highly recommended. Located in a lovely quiet village it offers good accommodation in a tranquil setting and in easy reach of other locations/interests. The front desk staff were very helpful and the standards of food and service were high. Our only quibbles were that the main pool was too cold and that the hotel's […] audio system damaged a CD that was a birthday present to my wife. I reported this, but was disappointed that the hotel did not offer a replacement or compensation. These only slightly marred a thoroughly enjoyable stay. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
We stayed at the Vedema for 3 days while travelling trough Greece for our honeymoon. Hotel was very unique and charming, built on a very old winery. The staff was helpful and very friendly. Breakfast was great. Rooms were large and comfortable and very nicely decorated. Not the most convenient location, however the hotel has a great complimentary shuttle […] service you can take into the town (Fira) or to the private beach. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Shower were only about 2 degrees away from COLD. Staff lacked the intimacy/friendliness expected of a small boutique hotel. Gym equipment was old, weight selection was limited, running machine was broken. First night they will pre-book you into the neighbouring restaurant, The food there was my worst meal in all of Greece.Genuine Expedia guest review
Response by Vedema Resort We would like to thank you for your recent stay with us and for taking the time to share your feedback. We were surprised that you faced issues with hot water in your room as this was never reported to our Front Desk by your self or any other of our guest staying in the same block as yours. Had we been informed would the matter have been resolved immediately. We need to express our amazement towards the fact that you felt that our staff lacked in intimacy/friendliness. The feedback we have had so far from all of our guests shows quite the contrary. All of our guests refer to our staff with the most kind words and praises. We are sorry that the gym did not meet up to your expectations, honestly we have not had a complain so far. We apologize indeed that one of our running machines was out of order, we did our best to repair it the soonest possible. Please be so kind and advice which Restaurant you are referring to, as the only Restaurant we make pre bookings for is the Vinsanto Restaurant which is within our property. We are proud of the reviews we have had so far as the comments have been excellent. We regret to hear that it did not meet up to your culinary standards. We hope to have the chance to have you with us again in the future and do our outmost to live up to your expectations.

My husband and I stayed for two nights in Vedema in October. We stayed in the spacious Aegean Suite which was bigger and better than we had expected ha ha! Loved that we had our own jacuzzi in the terrace and sunloungers facing the pool. The hotel is tucked away in a little town of Megalochori, which is a little far from Fira and Oia, but I do recommend that you stay here for at least one or two nights to explore the 'other side' of Santorini! It's a short drive to Pyrgos (watch the sunset from there), and dine in Metaximas in Exo Gonia after. It's also a short drive to Kamari, Ancient Thera and Perissa etc. Oh, and definitely do a drive out to Akrotiri for the sunset on another night as well! The buffet breakfast was a great mix of freshly squeezed fruits and fruits, and the usual cooked eggs, bacon etc. Love the white and blue, as you would expect from all over Santorini :) If you do laze around the pool, order a drink and say hi to Konstantinos :) More photos and details here - http://wp.me/p2mYTP-Vr

We spent about a week at Vedema and had a great time. It was a fantastic hotel with an even better staff. I really have to recognize the top of the line staff that work there from the shuttle drivers to the porters to the front desk staff to the f&B staff to housekeeping. All of them are exceptional! The hotel itself is a little out of the way, about 10-15 minutes by car from Fira and about 40 minutes from Oia but, that's not a bad thing unless you're visiting Santorini and want to be right in the middle of all the action. I highly recommend renting a car because depending on the free shuttle service while nice, it puts restrictions on your schedule. Taxis are a sore story on the island and it's best to have your own car. The rooms were immaculate and the complementary bottle of wine & fruit basket were very nice touches. The views from our room were spectacular! The breakfast buffet was one of the best I've had in any hotel I've ever been to. Really great. However the premium hotel restaurant "Alati" is a bit pricey when compared to the huge selection of restaurants in the area. The biggest complaint I have, if you can call it that, is the WiFi connection. When at the front desk, it is really good while anywhere else it simply sucks. I understand that going on a vacation one should switch off but, it's 2014 and being online has become an important aspect. Going back to the spectacular staff, I want to especially call out Anthony and Sylvie at the front desk and the manager/lead at the breakfast buffet. They made what was already a great stay be amazing.

My husband and I stayed at the Vedema for two nights during our honeymoon. It's a beautiful resort, although we expected more from Starwood's luxury collection. The staff is bed friendly and helpful. The rooms are the only drawback, they seem a bit out dated and in need of an upgrade (the showers, bathroom, etc) The rooms are very roomy. You're a bit far from the action on Santorini but everything is accessible (there are buses that go to Fira and Oia). Overall, beautiful hotel, okay villas.

My wife and I were treated to amazing service and food that we will not forget. From the time that we arrived at this luxurious resort, Antonis went out of his way to arrange tours and meals for us. The food was amazing! The suite was one of the most beautiful suites we have ever seen. We cannot imagine going anywhere else. Be certain and have dinner in the wine cellar!

The Vedema was a perfect way to end our tour of Greece. Our room was spacious, comfortable and clean; the breakfast buffet was delicious (loved their fresh juices); the staff was helpful and friendly. Standouts: Lena at breakfast and Sylvia in reception. They made our stay all the more wonderful. We didn't get a tour of the resort, I didn't know about the hot tub or beach until I read it here. Oh well, we were too busy anyway. This hotel does not have a caldera view, I strongly suggest renting a car. Driving is easy and we were able to get around easily. Acrotiri and Red Beach nearby are both worth the trip; Sunsets in Oia were crowded and fun, but honestly I saw the best sunset just down the road from Vedema without the crowd.
"Loved this place"

We returned last week from 10 wonderful nights at Vedema. We were a little bit worried about being too far from Fira or Oia but we are delighted we decided to stay here. It's peaceful, relaxing and the service is fantastic. Our villa (an Agean suite) was a good size and very private, with two terraces and its won Jacuzzi. The staff here are very friendly and excellent at helping with all your needs. The buffet breakfasts are fantastic, with huge choice. We took advantage of the shuttle service to Fira (a stunning place for a drink at sunset) and to Black Rose beach, which is really lovely (clear, warm waters and great service that can be charged to your room.) The food at the hotel was excellent and there are several really good restaurants in the village, all less than a minute's walk. In fact we thought the food in these places was generally much better quality than the restaurants in Fira. The pool is clean and lovely. We spent most days relaxing around the edge in the very comfortable loungers. We had a very enjoyable and informative wine tasting in the wine bar in the ancient part of the hotel. The only slight criticism is that we had massages in the spa which were very expensive and not very good. For the price I'd have expected a really great massage but it was average at best. Other than this minor quibble, I couldn't recommend this place enough and we'd definitely stay again. Santorini is a beautiful island.
"A Fabulous Engagement at a Fabulous Hotel"

My now Fiance and I spent five nights at Vedema a couple of weeks ago. When I contacted the hotel about intending to propose in Santorini the manager contacted me enthusasitcally with tons of great ideas. After some back and forth we came up with a great plan to make it a surprise and they executed it to perfection. As for the hotel, I don’t think I’ve had a warmer check in at a hotel (not sure how much of this is standard vs. special treatment since they knew I was proposing the next day). From the recommendations and explanation of the island, the welcome drinks, and the tour of the facilities, we really felt like they genuinely wanted us to be there. The Greek buffet breakfast was a good spread with delicious fresh made juices (orange, mixed fruit, apple lime). They also have Santorini Brewing Company beer at the hotel bar which was a nice plus as I enjoy craft beers of that nature. The rooms we were in (we switched to a villa during our stay) both had fantastic views and were extremely comfortable. The only thing I’d say if I had to criticize something is that I have had more comfortable beds in my hotel room. The villa had a private pool which was just icing on the cake. As others have said, the town itself is a bus (or shuttle, taxi) ride into Fira. If you take the shuttle there, the bus is pretty easy to get back and we did this every time once we found out there was the bus. 3.20 Euro can get you all the way to Oia (per person). All in all, a fabulous stay and I would 100% recommend this hotel if you wanted to plan something special. Reach out to them in advance and they genuinely want to help!

Just checking out of this hotel where we stayed three wonderful nights amidst beauty and top notch service! From the moment we stepped inside and greeted with complimentary lemon water with basil till our parting, I cannot say enough about the immpecable service we experienced. The resort is nestled in the small town of Megalochor, which is just steps outside and has wonderful neighborhood restaurants. The Vedema itself has beautiful places to dine as well. This is my second trip to Santorini and I absolutely loved this location. I contemplated staying in OIA, but I am very happy with the choice I made and will definitely choose this same location on my return to this beautiful island. Thanks so much to Marios, Antony (who had great travel tips), kOSTAS who made fantastic cocktails and Maria and \Ionnias at breakfast. You can read some of the other reviews as to what the hotel provides, so I will not be repetative, but the service and the people made this stay feel like family. I cannot wait to return. i HIGHLY recommend this hotel if you are so lucky to obtain a reservation.
"A few things you should consider"

We stayed at Vedema for a week and would like to comment on some of the prior reviews. First the hotel is in a quiet village nestling amid vineyards. Greece does not do vines on trellis etc so the ground does look a little like scrubland. This is not a party village or hotel. If you want to do this then the options are a long taxi ride to Oia or a shorter journey to Fira. That option comes as a ride on the local bus (fare €1.60 with exact change needed) or the hotel free shuttle. The concierge staff at the Vedema are absolutely fabulous and will print you out the bus timetable and organise a return taxi if you want to dine late. Otherwise the local bus will get you back from Fira by just asking the conductor to stop at Vedema. From the bus stop is a little uphill walk to the hotel and do not forget if the sun has set it will be dark so you need a torch to be both seen by other motor traffic and see your way over the cobbled and quite hilly roads. The final option if you need to party is to go to Perissa (again the local bus goes there about every 20 minutes). This is where the hotel has its section of beach. The beach are is about 3 kilometres long and there is a bar or restaurant every 200 metres or so. They advertise 'happy hour' from 8 pm until midnight and the last local bus back to Fira (dropping off at Vedema) leaves shortly after 2 am. There is no bank or ATM in the village so make sure you have Euro prior to your arrival. There is a small minimarket 20 metres from the hotel main entrance that sells beer, wine, water and some snacks. There are a couple of artisan stores in the village but no real 'shopping'. Regarding food the breakfast buffet is extremely good and lunch is also excellent and reasonably priced. The serving staff are also excellent but remember this is Greece so the service may look a little slow. This is also the case for eating out at night. There are about 7 restaurants within easy walking distance from the hotel entrance. We found they each had individual characters but again do not forget that what you order may not necessarily come out of the kitchen in the order you want them too. Finally there are some comments about the WiFi in the hotel. The providers server is based on the mainland so bandwidth is somewhat restricted at peak times (typically Friday and Saturday). One of the problem areas we noted was that, as there is no G3 telephone, many guests from North America use the WiFI to send pictures from their smartphone presumably to their Facebook or other account. As the file size of these images is very large it does tend to block the system so you need to ask yourself if it is imperative to send an image of the drinks you just ordered for your friends to see or could it wait till later that day? Overall we found the hotel and all its staff extremely good, friendly and efficient. We booked again for next year within 48 hours of our return and are really looking forwards to that holiday.
"Quiet and comfortable"

We spent four nights at Vedema resort. The staff were all helpful. Their buffet breakfasts were among the best we've ever seen. Free wifi is provided. The rooms and bedding and amenities were above average. The room gets cleaned two times a day, and complimentary water bottles are provided every day. The hotel provided nice free shuttle pick up from the port, and also free airport shuttle when we departed at 6:00 am in the morning. This hotel is not on the beach, but they offer a free shuttle ride to a beautiful black sand beach, where they provide beach towels. It is about 10-15 minutes shuttle ride from Fira, but the hotel also provides free shuttles to go there. However, I was told they do not provide shuttle ride to Oia. The hotel is located in a nice charming village and in quite location, which exactly what we were looking for. However, transportation could be an issue, shuttles to the beach or Fira are at set times, which kindly appreciated but doesn't give you much of flexibility. The shuttle would pick you up from the beach at a set time as well, but they do not offer pickups from Fira. Taxi cost adds up. If you stay there, I would recommend renting a car, which we did in the last day, and the hotel staff did such a great job in making it so easy to do so.
