"terrible service in a challenging location"
We stayed here for one-night because it was a Starwood property and expected good service. Unfortunately, this was the worst hotel experience of our 3 week trip across Europe. The hotel concierge was unresponsive prior to arrival and failed to arrange our "free" transfer from the Ferry to the hotel, so we were left at the port / terminal without transportation […] on arrival. The hotel was not in a convenient location and we had other issues with the hotel concierge's complimentary transfer services. The hotel was far from other sites and inconveniently located. The pool was nice, but overall, the hotel concierge was over-worked, not helpful, and unapologetic about a number of basic guest needs. This hotel was understaffed for the number of guests, location, and the price we paid for the room. We left in a hurry and wished we had stayed somewhere else. "Great service, beautiful hotel, totally relaxing"
The rooms were exactly as advertised and beautifully maintained. Breakfast was perfect with great coffee! All staff were knowledgeable and friendly. They even prepared coffee at 515 in the morning before we had to leave for the airport. Drinks were a little expensive at the pool bar and the music at the pool was a bit strange. Overall it was a wonderful […] stay and I would definitely go back. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"An idyllic break - highly recommended."
This is not a main City 5*, but is highly recommended. Located in a lovely quiet village it offers good accommodation in a tranquil setting and in easy reach of other locations/interests. The front desk staff were very helpful and the standards of food and service were high. Our only quibbles were that the main pool was too cold and that the hotel's […] audio system damaged a CD that was a birthday present to my wife. I reported this, but was disappointed that the hotel did not offer a replacement or compensation. These only slightly marred a thoroughly enjoyable stay. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
We stayed at the Vedema for 3 days while travelling trough Greece for our honeymoon. Hotel was very unique and charming, built on a very old winery. The staff was helpful and very friendly. Breakfast was great. Rooms were large and comfortable and very nicely decorated. Not the most convenient location, however the hotel has a great complimentary shuttle […] service you can take into the town (Fira) or to the private beach. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Shower were only about 2 degrees away from COLD. Staff lacked the intimacy/friendliness expected of a small boutique hotel. Gym equipment was old, weight selection was limited, running machine was broken. First night they will pre-book you into the neighbouring restaurant, The food there was my worst meal in all of Greece.Genuine Expedia guest review
Response by Vedema Resort We would like to thank you for your recent stay with us and for taking the time to share your feedback. We were surprised that you faced issues with hot water in your room as this was never reported to our Front Desk by your self or any other of our guest staying in the same block as yours. Had we been informed would the matter have been resolved immediately. We need to express our amazement towards the fact that you felt that our staff lacked in intimacy/friendliness. The feedback we have had so far from all of our guests shows quite the contrary. All of our guests refer to our staff with the most kind words and praises. We are sorry that the gym did not meet up to your expectations, honestly we have not had a complain so far. We apologize indeed that one of our running machines was out of order, we did our best to repair it the soonest possible. Please be so kind and advice which Restaurant you are referring to, as the only Restaurant we make pre bookings for is the Vinsanto Restaurant which is within our property. We are proud of the reviews we have had so far as the comments have been excellent. We regret to hear that it did not meet up to your culinary standards. We hope to have the chance to have you with us again in the future and do our outmost to live up to your expectations.

This is a beautiful Hotel with great service. If you want peace and quiet this is the place for you. I was a little disappointed in the location. It is not looking over the Sea but in the middle of the Island so their are no views of the Aegean Sea. It was also very difficult to walk around on the Lava rock paths throughout the Resort. The rooms were beautiful and food and drink delicious. They have another property overlooking the Sea so choose carefully. You might be a little confused because they both have the same name but in different towns.
"Should not be considered a Starwood Luxury Collection hotel"

My husband and I stayed at the Vedema for our honeymoon. We had always dreamed of going to Santorini and were really excited to stay at the Vedema given the gorgeous photos online and the fact that it's a Luxury Collection hotel. Unfortunately, our stay turned out to be the most disappointing of all of our Starwood stays (my husband is a Platinum member so we've stayed at many Starwood properties) prompting me to write my first ever TripAdvisor review. We were so disappointed that we actually left the Vedema for two nights and paid extra out-of-pocket to stay at the Mystique just so that we could have the dream Santorini honeymoon we had hoped for. The biggest issues of the Vedema had to do with the service/amenities and the misleading photos online: -The photos make it seem like the hotel has beautiful views of the water. It doesn't. Santorini is a small island and it felt like we saw gorgeous views everywhere except from the Vedema. From our top floor room, we could see the water from very afar, but the view was dampened by the unattractive construction and industrial-looking buildings between the Vedema and the water. -Service was poor (except for the servers at the Vinsanto Restaurant. Service here was excellent). We had to ask 3x for our luggage to be transported to our room. Upon arrival, our room did not have toilet paper so we had to call 2x before it was delivered. Since it was our honeymoon, we wanted to have a special dinner while watching the sunset in Oia. The concierge supposedly made a reservation for us at Castro restaurant overlooking the caldera for 7pm. The night before our restaurant reservation, we even stopped at the front desk and double-checked that we had a reservation the next night. The concierge assured us yes. We showed up at the restaurant at 7pm on the dot. No reservation in our name. We asked the restaurant to call the Vedema. Whoever answered the phone at the Vedema said they didn't make a reservation for us. Fortunately, the restaurant was extremely nice and offered to let us have the first cancelled table. No apology from the Vedema. -The room was never properly cleaned. We would come back to our room and there would still be remnants of trash throughout the room. Also, the lock on our door was broken. -Breakfast by the pool had limited food options and there were often flies on the food. Overall, the Vedema did not meet the standards of a Starwood Luxury hotel. The Vedema and the St. Regis both require 30,000 points a night to stay, but the difference between the Vedema and the St. Regis is night and day. If you're looking for a Starwood luxury resort in Santorini, stay at the Mystique (Vedema and Mystique are under same owner). Our stay there was wonderful and the staff was amazing.
"Excellent Service at Vedema Resort"

Although we arrived in a timely manner on the island of Santorini, our luggage did not. From the very first moment we arrived at the Santorini airport, the staff of Vedema treated us exceptionally well. The driver who picked us up at the airport helped us file our lost luggage claim with the airline. The hotel manager upgraded us to a beautiful suite (perhaps the same one referenced in the recent review from "minorleaguemom") with a private pool and outdoor jacuzzi. The hotel's concierge took it upon herself to keep checking with the airline about our luggage. Our stay could not have been more pleasant. We had an excellent dinner at the resort's restaurant, we basked in the sun on our private patio, we relaxed in our comfortable suite and the lovely public areas of the resort, and we enjoyed the peace and quiet of Megalochori. We highly recommend this resort for a low key, gorgeous, and relaxing stay away from the tourist hubbub of Fira and Oia. The resort is lovely and well maintained and the staff was excellent. This isn't a cliff-hanging resort like Mystique, but it is beautiful and very relaxing. It is nice to be able to stay away from the crowds sometimes. If you know what to expect in terms of the general location of the Vedema Resort, you will not be disappointed by this lovely resort and its superb staff.
"Best Room Ever Stayed In"

We stayed for 2 nights. Liked it so much if we return to Santorini I would have no hesitation in staying here again. We had an Aegean Suite. It consisted of 4 different rooms. The balcony was amazing. Small table and chairs. Two sunbeds and best of all a hot tub. What I liked most about the Vedema was it was integrated into the village. You felt as though you were part of the village. Breakfast was very good. Maybe more choice of hot foods, but that’s a personal choice. Did not eat dinner there, as we stayed for two nights at ate at the tavernas very close by. Would definitely eat there if I was staying for a week. Our last night was at their sister hotel, The Mystique in Oia. A very nice hotel, but for me not as nice as the Vedema. All the staff were helpful and always smiling. This always make a difference for me. Megalohori was a lovely village that was easy to walk around. All in all it is one of the best hotels I have stayed in during my many years of travelling.
"Glad we stayed in the small town of Megalochori on Santorini"

We had a suite with a living room, kitchenette, bedroom, bath, private pool, and outdoor jacuzzi at this Starwood hotel. The view overlooked the grape fields to the sea. We were happy we stayed here, because crowds from the cruise ships filled the larger towns of Oia and Fira. We walked up and down five levels from fitness center and spa to outdoor dining and experimented with dinners at the local restaurants in town (excellent!). The staff, especially the front office manager Britta, was the most gracious and helpful we've ever encountered. However, our private jacuzzi and pool were not heated and with cool nightly winds, we had to use the big ones for the rest of the guests. The cleaning staff could have done a better job with our private jacuzzi and cobblestone floors.
"Just The Best!"

Booked into an Aegean Suite at this Starwood Luxury Collection resort in Megalohori Village Santorini. Throughout our stay the staff were some of the finest quality we have encountered anywhere. The room unit was upstairs. Had three rooms plus a huge bathroom and a balcony with hot tub. The property forms part of Megalohori Village itself and you cannot tell where the village begins and the hotel ends (apart from some gates of course). Just a wonderful experience. The village clock is a bit noisy but apart from that the noise of the village is delightful. Breakfast was poor. Cooked food was cold and the fancy lay out of the remainder on offer was not really my idea of a good international choice. Overall though - a great experience. We would have liked to have stayed for three nights instead of two, but they were full and we travelled to their sister property Mystique for our last night, and this property was in no way as good as The Vedema Resort. I would recommend this hotel to absolutely anyone looking for entire quality at the highest level.
"The only thing better than the property is the staff"

My wife and I were absolutely blown away by this property and the island of Santorini in general but from arrival to departure the staff treated us at a level far exceeding what I probably deserve, but the price is crazy high so I suppose they should but they were really great. Our room was very comfortable and had a great private balcony. We took full advantage of the property and the partnerships they have around the island especially the Black Rose beach club which was great and uncrowded. I would absolutely go back and recommend to friends and internet strangers alike. Also they have a helipad in the middle of the Vineyard behind the hotel, how cool is that?

I am really proud , as a Greek tourist in my own country, to witness the highest level of service offered by our hotels. Vedema Resort is the perfect example! Astonishing service, always with a smile. Great beach and beach bar for guests only!!!
"Seasonal property with seasonal workers"

The hotel is beautiful and the rooms are well appointed and large. The breakfast is also great. However the help is not the best. We had a problem with out shower (only HOT water came out). I complained to the front desk and they sent a worker to the room. He felt the water with his hand and said it was OK. It was one temperature (scalding). Since we were leaving I informed the front desk that unless they fixed the problem they would continue to have unhappy guests. They then sent a plumber who spent a few hours fixing the shower. In addition the maid service was almost non existent. This is an expensive hotel and I would expect more for the money

After a long ferry ride from Athens, it was nice to have a driver waiting for you to take you just 10 minutes to the resort. It's a restored winery located in a small village where the owner used to live and still stays at. And it definitely has that intimate vibe where you feel like you're staying at your (rich) friend's sprawling estate. Britta greeted us and gave us a tour of the resort. She was very helpful and knowledgeable. They had upgraded us to an amazing suite with jacuzzi on the patio. Since it was still a bit chilly out, I used the Jacuzzi everyday. The bathroom is huge with a shower and bathtub. We also had a cute patio in front of our room where we could see the ocean. We loved just hanging out and relaxing on both patios. Wi-fi is excellent in the rooms. Staff was soooo friendly. Everyone said hi to you and most remembered you by name. Our favorite was the bartender in the day, Marios. Even though we couldn't enjoy the pool, we enjoyed laying out and reading and talking to him. Breakfast is included and had the usual staples- bread, pastries, cereal, greek specialties, eggs, cheese, etc. The resort is right in the middle of the village so you can walk to various restaurants. It was fun to just wander around for a bit and then relax some more at the resort. They do provide a free shuttle to the local beach and Fira. Oia is about 30 min away. If you are looking for a super lively resort, this is not the place for you. This is for people who want relaxation and serenity. I would definitely come back here again!
