"terrible service in a challenging location"
We stayed here for one-night because it was a Starwood property and expected good service. Unfortunately, this was the worst hotel experience of our 3 week trip across Europe. The hotel concierge was unresponsive prior to arrival and failed to arrange our "free" transfer from the Ferry to the hotel, so we were left at the port / terminal without transportation […] on arrival. The hotel was not in a convenient location and we had other issues with the hotel concierge's complimentary transfer services. The hotel was far from other sites and inconveniently located. The pool was nice, but overall, the hotel concierge was over-worked, not helpful, and unapologetic about a number of basic guest needs. This hotel was understaffed for the number of guests, location, and the price we paid for the room. We left in a hurry and wished we had stayed somewhere else. "Great service, beautiful hotel, totally relaxing"
The rooms were exactly as advertised and beautifully maintained. Breakfast was perfect with great coffee! All staff were knowledgeable and friendly. They even prepared coffee at 515 in the morning before we had to leave for the airport. Drinks were a little expensive at the pool bar and the music at the pool was a bit strange. Overall it was a wonderful […] stay and I would definitely go back. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"An idyllic break - highly recommended."
This is not a main City 5*, but is highly recommended. Located in a lovely quiet village it offers good accommodation in a tranquil setting and in easy reach of other locations/interests. The front desk staff were very helpful and the standards of food and service were high. Our only quibbles were that the main pool was too cold and that the hotel's […] audio system damaged a CD that was a birthday present to my wife. I reported this, but was disappointed that the hotel did not offer a replacement or compensation. These only slightly marred a thoroughly enjoyable stay. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
We stayed at the Vedema for 3 days while travelling trough Greece for our honeymoon. Hotel was very unique and charming, built on a very old winery. The staff was helpful and very friendly. Breakfast was great. Rooms were large and comfortable and very nicely decorated. Not the most convenient location, however the hotel has a great complimentary shuttle […] service you can take into the town (Fira) or to the private beach. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Shower were only about 2 degrees away from COLD. Staff lacked the intimacy/friendliness expected of a small boutique hotel. Gym equipment was old, weight selection was limited, running machine was broken. First night they will pre-book you into the neighbouring restaurant, The food there was my worst meal in all of Greece.Genuine Expedia guest review
Response by Vedema Resort We would like to thank you for your recent stay with us and for taking the time to share your feedback. We were surprised that you faced issues with hot water in your room as this was never reported to our Front Desk by your self or any other of our guest staying in the same block as yours. Had we been informed would the matter have been resolved immediately. We need to express our amazement towards the fact that you felt that our staff lacked in intimacy/friendliness. The feedback we have had so far from all of our guests shows quite the contrary. All of our guests refer to our staff with the most kind words and praises. We are sorry that the gym did not meet up to your expectations, honestly we have not had a complain so far. We apologize indeed that one of our running machines was out of order, we did our best to repair it the soonest possible. Please be so kind and advice which Restaurant you are referring to, as the only Restaurant we make pre bookings for is the Vinsanto Restaurant which is within our property. We are proud of the reviews we have had so far as the comments have been excellent. We regret to hear that it did not meet up to your culinary standards. We hope to have the chance to have you with us again in the future and do our outmost to live up to your expectations.
"Quiet and comfortable"

We spent four nights at Vedema resort. The staff were all helpful. Their buffet breakfasts were among the best we've ever seen. Free wifi is provided. The rooms and bedding and amenities were above average. The room gets cleaned two times a day, and complimentary water bottles are provided every day. The hotel provided nice free shuttle pick up from the port, and also free airport shuttle when we departed at 6:00 am in the morning. This hotel is not on the beach, but they offer a free shuttle ride to a beautiful black sand beach, where they provide beach towels. It is about 10-15 minutes shuttle ride from Fira, but the hotel also provides free shuttles to go there. However, I was told they do not provide shuttle ride to Oia. The hotel is located in a nice charming village and in quite location, which exactly what we were looking for. However, transportation could be an issue, shuttles to the beach or Fira are at set times, which kindly appreciated but doesn't give you much of flexibility. The shuttle would pick you up from the beach at a set time as well, but they do not offer pickups from Fira. Taxi cost adds up. If you stay there, I would recommend renting a car, which we did in the last day, and the hotel staff did such a great job in making it so easy to do so.
"Excellent hotel with excellent service."

This hotel is awesome. We had the room with the jacuzzi and small pool and it was truly an exhilarating experience for my wife and I. Please realize that this hotel does not have a view of the cauldron like the hotels in Fira may have. I would say this is probably the only disadvantage of the hotel. The hotel staff is awesome. Very friendly and helpful. The town is also very charming with local restaurants. As another reviewer mentioned it is not as "touristy" so I see this as an advantage. Again, only negative is that there is no view of the Cauldron which is a key feature of the island. We ended up renting a car and seeing all the highlights of this island. Also, the hotel has access to Black Rose beach which I definitely recommend you check out as a hotel guest.
"Beautiful property, excellent service - highly recommend!"

My boyfriend and I were recently in Santorini and stayed at the Vedema. It was a beautiful property (old winery turned into a 5 star hotel) with lots of charm and amazing staff that went out of their way to make sure you were having the perfect stay! Anthi Maneta, the operations manager is lovely and went above and beyond to take care of everything we needed. It isn't right on the cauldron, but we found it to be much less touristy and much more accessible to the beaches and other areas of Santorini we wanted to explore. If you are planning to be in Santorini, we would highly recommend staying at The Vedema!
"Did not meet expectations"

I don't understand the hype about this place. This is by far the worst Starwood hotel we have ever stayed at, and we have stayed at many. We had a terrible sewage problem in our room coming from multiple drains, it smelled horrendous. They refused to change our room and instead sent a plumber at 7am on our honeymoon which was a bandaid as the smell came back (not as bad but still there). The plumber didn't even clean up just dumped antiseptic all over the bathroom. In addition, NO HOT WATER, just luke warm. The shower had a leak, leaked all the way to the bedroom and wet clothes that were on our floor. The bathtub was gross, rusty and not clean. The air conditioning units were so old, with stains over the wall over it. The breakfast is horrible, wet runny tasteless eggs, all hot foods were cold. The lunch sandwich was served in stale bread. We asked for a dinner recommendation for a place with a view, the place had no view since it was pitch dark at 10:30pm and it was a view of the caldera which is not lit at night. The pool however is nice, the property with dark volcanic stones is nice but would not stay here for the price.
"Beautiful and Relaxing"

We visited Vedema resort at early August with my husband. The location of this place was amazing, the views were breath-taking and the rooms were nice and cosy. Chilling by the pool was relaxing and the service was fast and friendly. Front desk was amazing and helpful. The only negative comment I can make about this property is that the rooms do not look the same (even if they are the same category) a couple we met at the resort that had booked the same category room with us had a much more comfortable room. In general very good value for money! if you are looking for a destination to relax and get rid of all your stress this is the place to be!!
"All rooms are not created equal"

We were terribly disappointed to find that our room, booked months ago, although nicely appointed, was in a ground floor rear location, dark and with not even a peek of sky to enjoy. Hardly the promise of the website. Make no assumptions about your view of ocean or sky. The Dorian suites are not all equal so beware. They are, however, all the same price.

Although we didn't stay at the resort we did however make the trek from Oia to have dinner at Vedema's Seafood restaurant Alati. We enjoyed their 7 course pre fixed menu with a bottle of wine. It was fabulous, the good was amazing not sure if it warranted the price but we still thought it was really good, along with the ambience and service it made for a perfect night! We sat inside, it was a little warmer on the inside as I don't think there is air conditioning due to it being a 400 year old winery turned restaurant but we didn't mind. When can one say they had dinner in a 400 year old winery on Santorini.
"Beautiful property and excellent staff"
09/06/14 Samantha S San Francisco, California
We came here on points as platinum spg members which got us free breakfast and a couple other perks which sweetened our stay. However, it was the attentive staff and beautiful and peaceful property that made our stay exceptional. Anthoni in particular paid close attention to our needs and wishes and helped us set up reservations for activities and restaurants. The location of the hotel is set in a lovely Santorini village and is close to a bus stop that is easy to use, although the hotel and black sand beach are so beautiful you may never wish to leave the property. My favorite SPG experience so far.
"Beautiful cozy hotel with Amazing Service"

We just left Santorini and we sad to say goodbye to this charming hotel and incredible staff. Rich with history, the vedema has a boutique feel. Volcanic rock walls meander around the property from villa to villa. Our hotel rooms were spectacular - clean, amazingly comfortable, and well appointed. Megalochori is a quiet village away from the busy streets of Oia, but a quick and stunning ride in the car. The hotel is minutes from the famous black sand beaches of Perissa and the locals beach Kamari (great cliff jumping). It has everything you need in town and is the perfect oasis after visiting more touristy areas. The food at the hotel was incredible - breakfast spread to suit any tastes. Fresh juice, typical American breakfast items (eggs, bacon, French toast) and delicious local additions (yogurt, Greek salad, stuffed grape leaves and more). The setting is quiet and serene. Above all the staff was exceptional. Marios at the front desk greeted our early morning arrival with a smile. He's friendly, energetic, helpful and polished. His knowledge of the island is only surpassed by Antony the concierge- who takes great pride and care in finding you exactly what you need from waterside tables for stunning sunsets to recommendations for the best locals only activities. Marilenos was a breakfast attendant who saw to our every need. Even the hotel manager made herself available to welcome, offer great service, and make each guest feel like the vedema was their home. We can not rave enough about our experience - will return to The Vedema as soon as we can!
"Hidden Gem of Santorini - Simply Magical"
09/03/14 Vwilson819 New York City, New York
My wife and I selected Vedema to celebrate our wedding Aniversary. We are well travelled and I cannot express fervently enough how wise a choice this was. we stayed at Vedema June 26 - 30th. The property is a 400 year old winery converted into a hotel in the charming town of Megalohori and nestled within the wine region's vineyards. The attention to detail and luxury in our room as well as the grounds and restaurants are simply divine. Be sure to have Costa, Vedema's mixologist, serve you one of his latest creations. The hotel's beach will not dissappoint the most seasoned beachgoer. The food & beverage variety, offerings and quality are superb . Views of the Aegean and Vineyards with the bells of the Town's church and the aroma of Vedema's myriad of flowers not only transform the property into the most idyllic place to stay in Santorini but coupled with the unsurpassed service and hospitality of its staff make it Magical! I contacted the amazing Anthi Maneta, Hotel Operations Manager of my upcoming stay to arrange some items for our anniversary evening, restaurant reservations as well as advise them of my wife's allergies. Needless to say, Anthi and Britta Kyriazakou exceeded our expectations not only on our anniversary, but from arrival to departure. The entire team took such great care of us that it almost felt as if we were the only guest on property. The warmth, passion and hospitality of Anthi & Britta and the personal touches they provided as professional memory makers, truly created an experience that will remain unforgettable. We will undoubtedly return to this Hidden Gem within Santorini. Therefore, if you are looking for the cherry on top of the most beautiful of islands Greece has to offer, Vedema and its amazing staff are it.
