"Loves the boat ride to Magic Kingdom!"
We loved the hotel and close to other hotels, monorail and the ferry!Genuine Expedia guest review
Disney's Wilderness Lodge is a beautiful resort with hotel rooms that remind me more of a Marriott or Hyatt than a Disney Resort. However, the main areas are very Disneyesque and the pool is quite nice. It is close to Magic Kingdom. Transportation to MK is by boat while all other places are by bus. Boat transportation is far more pleasant and usually […] quicker than than the busses, so that is a huge plus for this resort. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
This hotel was a splurge for my BF's 60th birthday. I was having buyer's remorse about spending this much money....but SOOO glad I did. We got a surprise upgrade upon check-in. We were put in a club level room. With concierge service and food and drinks put out 4 times a day. We loved it! We felt so pampered. This sounds corny, but we had a magical […] time!!! "Great Disney Hotel"
My son, husband and myself stayed at the Wilderness Lodge on 10/16-10/20. The hotel was perfect for our needs. The hotel was beautiful, quiet and clean. The staff very accommodating. There are three places to eat onsite, but we were in the parks all day, we mainly grabbed breakfast and a quick bite at night at the Roaring Fork. Ate once at the Whispering […] Canyon, wasn't a fan of the food or atmosphere. The ketchup thing is fun once, and the waiters threw menus, napkins, and straws on the table. I know that it is suppose to be an act, but it comes off as being rude and indifferent. Boat transportation to the Magic Kingdom was convenient and fast. We went to Universal Studios one day and the concierge helped booked Mears shuttle service to the park. We were picked up right outside the hotel. We had a courtyard view, one night we were able to see the fireworks from the park. I was worried that the room would be loud because we were facing the courtyard, but our room was nice and quiet. The grounds are beautiful and the geyser goes off every hour. My son loved the pool slide. We would definitely return. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Nice hotel, very noisy."
Room very noisy and air conditioning did not work well. Not sure if we were next to a main water pipe, but the sound of water flowing never ended. The boat taking people to other parts of Disney started about 6:30am and the horn blowing that early was not pleasant. Very convenient bus servise to these parks and other points of interest.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Great Hotel BUT"
This has the potential to be a really excellent hotel and the staff are really friendly, but there we soo many new trainees every where that misinformation abounded, we were on a tight schedule and this was not appreciated , if you are not sure about something don't make stuff up.....I reserved a room needing a bunk bed or a daybed they were sold out […] and only had an aero mattress, this was ok but it leaked and the 2 queen size beds were hard and sagged in the middle....We decided to have breakfast in the Canyon Café on the last day before leaving and the food quality is very good BUT, when you select the "family style option" the wait between seconds was way too long again because there were too many new people..... "Secluded, perhaps too much, but still great."
It's a great place for families, due to the overall theme, atmosphere and general size of the place. It's just as good for a group of friends as well, but as is the case with most Disney properties, it will get overrun by children with lackadaisical parents who condone the behavior, causing somewhat of a nuisance from time to time, but that's no fault […] of the property itself. Pool area is spacious, beautiful and nice, restaurants inside the resort are good quality. Staff was helpful and accessible. The walls of the hotel are somewhat thin on all accounts, and neighbors with screaming kids can be heard a little too easy. Resort has shuttles to all Disney properties and a direct boat to Magic Kingdom that all come in very handy. But due to the secluded nature of the resort, it's kind of time consuming, but still better than driving yourself and paying for parking. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice Lobby but Room are Lackluster"
The fact that every Disney hotel I've ever stayed in continues it's theme of great lobby and landscaping, but disappointing rooms. I'm not sure why Disney can feel that they can charge the same about as a high-end luxury hotel, but without delivering the luxury. With the amount of the room that I paid, I was expecting a high-end room, however, what […] I got was a typical Hampton Inn experience at best. There is nothing fancy about this hotel--only a pretty cool looking lobby that spans 7-stories high with some decent wood themed accents. Other than that, it ends there. The food was lacking. The pool seemed okay, however, a little small for this size of hotel. It was situated on the lake, so that worked well for taking the boat to the parks. However, the bus service is in need of a serious overhaul. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Query by double charge"
I request you to please clarify me the following situation. On July 13 I paid through my credit card EXPEDIA the sum of U.S. $ 451.28 per stay at Disney's Wilderness Lodge, Lake Buena Vista for two nights for the days 22 and 23 September 2013. Well, when I checked my statement credit cards I meet a charge of U.S. $ 391.92 for my stay at the hotel.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Typical Disney Out Dated Family Hotel"
The room and hotel itself are extremely out dated and the front desk staff is under trained. I booked my room for a King and upon arriving they decided to give me 2 queens. I asked to be switched to a King and they told me they are sold out. To top it off they decided to place my room right next to the children's pool, did they not notice it was just […] me and my girlfriend? I requested if they could move me somewhere quieter, again denied. Upon entering the room I had to walk down a hallway that looked like something out of the 60's, dark and dingy. The room itself more then likely hasn't been updated in 30+ years, with the exception of the 32" LCD TV. The bathroom was tiny and the tub maybe could hold 5 gallons of water at best. They replaced our shower curtain I'm guessing because that bathroom stunk of a very strong new plastic. Honestly I couldn't even stand being in the bathroom for to long or else I'd get a headache. The only good thing about the bathroom was the sea salt soap bar, smelt amazing and made my skin feel silky smooth. Other then that the bathroom was at best a 3, right above a camp ground bathroom. Only shining star about this hotel was the amazing lobby and the restaurants. The restaurant is definitely a hot spot you must try, very unique concept. I wish tho they would spend less time on the lobby and more time on the rooms, has potential to be 4 stars. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

Our experience at this resort was positive. The staff was very friendly. Our room was roomy and clean. It had a refrigerator, which came in very handy. "Great Hotel and Value"
This was one of the best vacations we have ever taken. Wilderness Lodge is conveniently located within a 10 minute boat ride of Magic Kingdom. Which was very convenient for having to return to the hotels with a 17 month old for naps. We did not miss not having the monorail. We took the monorail from magic kingdom to the Polynesian the one day for lunch […] and actually thought it took longer than the boat. The hotel staff took care of everything and had great recommendations for food. We went to Whispering Canyon the one night for dinner. Food was fabulous and it was entertaining without having to pay the high price for character dining or a dinner show. We plan on staying here again for sure. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great place for young and old"
My favorite Disney hotel!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
We have stayed at several of the Disney properties. We chose the wilderness lodge this time because many friends love it. Mention of the boat that takes you directly to magic kingdom was almost always included in this rave review. I was a little disappointed. To me, this resort felt like a moderate resort. Aside from the fast and direct transportation […] to magic kingdom via the boat, the bus ride to other locations is slow/far depending on where you are going. This hotel shares bus service with Fort Wilderness. This can add a lot of time to your trip. The atmosphere does feel like a lodge in a national park, but the amenities are somewhat poor. The gift shop is very small and is lacking much related to theme like other gift shops (e.g. c Animal kingdom lodge with comes fun items related to Africa, African culture, and animals. the quick service restaurant is ridiculously small and boring in decor and food!! pool is fun, but small. Rooms are small. Bunk beds are unique and fun, and enable more floor space. Parking is very convenient, which we always use since we drive to Disney. Overall, I would not stay here again, but am glad to have experienced another theme. If I could do over, I would have stayed at a different property, though. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Super fun family get away"
Our kids had a blast we liked that it was a little more of a single building hotel when many of Disney properties are multiple buildings over a vast area. Riding the boats to the park was enjoyable for the kids. Overall loved it!!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great for families, maybe not for couples"
I stayed at this hotel twice before (1998, 2004) when I was 12 and 18 years old traveling with my parents. This time I'm 27 and took my significant other to Disney and wanted to stay on grounds. This place is still great fun, complete with beautiful lobby and convenient park access, but seems a little less magical than I remember. The poolside bar shuts […] down at 6:00, which is incredibly early. The rooms seem to have fewer "Disney" charms than I recall too. Wake-up call was no longer a Mickey recording. Still recommend but could use some more Disney touches. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Great Disney Experience at the Wilderness Lodge"
We had a great room overlooking the pool, gyser and lake. The staff was so nice and helpful. And getting to the hotel (dont forget to reserve on Magical Express) and around Disney World was as easy as can be. We had friends staying at the campground (Fort Wilderness) and had no problem getting to them. Disney has it all down to a science. The only down […] side was that the walls are kind of thin (probably everywhere) and our first night the neighbors came home around midnight and were very loud. The hotel has all kinds of activities for kids, so you really need to build in down time at the hotel to take advantage of the whole experience. Be prepared for lots of people staying up late. Our daughter is 10 and kids younger than her were up much much later. Would definitely stay here again! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Coming back to the Wilderness"
Best Resort Stay Experience. We arrived by car, which we had valet parked. We were greeted at the car by staff and escorted to the check-in desk. Although we were 8 hrs early, they managed to find us a room with a complimentary upgrade! What a great view of the pool area. The room was very comfortable and the towel sculptures were wonderful and a pleasant […] surprise for my 2 yr old daughter. The boat dock was charming as were the boats that shuttled us directly to the Magic Kingdom (much faster than taking the bus). The food was great overall and if you get their mugs, the refills are free throughout your stay. The pools were great as well. We did not take advantage of all the restaurants and other amenities at this hotel (short stay only), so we are definitely coming back. I can't say enough great things about the staff from the bell hops, valet parking guys/gals, the concierge and the gentleman who collected our trays from the quick service dining area. He noted my girl and came out to surprise her with a Mickey Hand handshake. He also gave her a Mickey sticker to make her smile. Everyone was wonderful! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Does not seem to be a deluxe hotel."
We have stayed at other Disney Deluxe hotels. This one should not be labeled deluxe. The transportation is horrible. You are on the same bus as the Fort Wilderness Campgrounds. Our first stay at Wilderness Lodge and first Disney trip in quite a while. This time we took our 5 year old grandson. The pool was a huge hit with him, including the water slide. Lifeguards were vigilant and for the most part very good with the kids. It took us a while to figure out the restaurants; food at Whispering Canyon was good (not great) but […] contrary to what we had read it wasn't all that great for a preschooler. The Roaring Forks cafeteria turned out to be good for our needs with outdoor tables near the pool. Somewhat limited kids menu and some hot items were only so-so, but the salads were great and they had some staples that came in handy. Very nice staff although sometimes long lines. The restaurant reservation system was a bit daunting, probably our inexperience. We thought we had reserved a bunk bed so our grandson was disappointed that it turned out to be 2 queens. But the room was quiet as requested and with only one child there is really no complaint. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Fun place but noisy"
We stayed here last week for 8 nights. The hotel overall was really a fun place and the pools/hot tub areas are great. Loved the lobby and the staff were very accommodating and friendly. The drawbacks are that it's fairly noisy. We could hear every toilet all around us and above us flushing a lot. We could also hear the bathtubs/showers running and […] blow dryers. I used ear plugs which helped somewhat but still it was too noisy. The food gets a bit old also and all pretty much tastes the same. We didn't eat at Artists Point but we did at all the other places and had room service. Much of the food is all the same stuff so after 2 or 3 days we were totally burned out of the food and there isn't anything else near the lodge without taking a bus or boat. A suggestion I would make to the hotel is that they have one of the hot tubs be adults only. It's really annoying to try and relax in a hot tub with children using it as though it's a pool. Parents don't seem to always control the kids or be near them so an adult only one would be REALLY nice. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

This is a nice hotel if you are spending most of your time at the Magic Kingdom. If you want to got anywhere else: EPCOT/Water Parks/Downtown Disney, I would not recommend this hotel. "Great hotel for a family but the pool isn't great"
We had a Woodland view room with a queen and bunk beds. It was a great hotel experience, the staff was friendly & wonderful. Dinner at Whispering Canyon cafe was a treat for the kids ("NEED KETCHUP?") and you can get quick and easy food in the cafeteria area. It's easy to get to the Magic Kingdom from here - just hop a boat for a quick ride across. […] Compared to the Grand Floridian, I like this hotel better because people are down to earth, there is no snob factor. The room was clean and comfy. My only criticism of this hotel is the pool area - there were never, ever enough lounge chairs for us to just go sit by the pool without having to worry about crowds. My husband pointed out "that's because they don't want you lounging by the pool, they want you out at the parks spending money" - he may have a point. I can't think of another reason why such a large, grand hotel would have such a puny pool area and obviously not enough chairs to comfortably accommodate their guests.
