What can I say about a Disney Hotel except that it was fantastic! The Polynesian was tropical, with luscious landscaping, it transported us to a little paradise. The staff were extremely helpful and polite, whatever we needed they were there for us! Will be going back soon!Genuine Expedia guest review

"Great location and staff, decent rooms"
Had a great stay at the Polynesian. Couldn't ask for better customer service or location. The Kona Cafe was wonderful for dinner and the quick service cafe was great for breakfast. My only complaint is the horrible, small (and in need of refurbishment!) elevator in Samoa house and the slightly uncomfortable beds. The rooms were newly renovated but I […] feel like better mattresses and nicer linens should have been used. As with all Disney resorts, you are paying for the convenience of location, not superior room quality. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Very easy access to the parks. Great food choices.Genuine Expedia guest review
Being near the transportation center and on the Monorail was a life saver. We were there January 17-22 and it was more crowded in the parks than any trip we have ever taken during a spring break. It was nice to come back to the hotel and enjoy the nice beach and pool area from 12-3 when the parks were too crowded. We enjoyed the luau, but it was not […] worth the price! The food was very average and we were rushed through dinner. Tier 3 seats were the only available ones and my children could not see. If they leaned into the aisle the waitress was very snippy with them. The character breakfast is well worth the money! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Would never stay there again!"
Old rooms, furnishings need updating, dark head boards, old bathroom fixtures. Old linens and very disappointing comforters! The only good thing was being on the property and taking advantage of the fast passes otherwise, a huge disappointment!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Very nice but terrible device at the Kona cafe. Took at least 45 minutes to get our breakfast. Toddler was hungry and it ruined our plans for the morning before we had to leave to catch our flight. TERRIBLE serviceGenuine Expedia guest review

"It was great"
The hotel is under some construction. However it is operating in the same great way as it has in the past. I would recommend it to anyone.Genuine Expedia guest review
The rooms were renovated a couple of years ago and they look really nice. We had a room with 2 double beds and the standard Disney couch that converts into a cot. We had 2 adults and 3 kids in the room and were reasonably comfortable. The tile in the bathroom was particularly nice and many of the other Polynesian themed elements were very well done. […] Minor complaints include a relatively small bathroom and tub, and a light that was bent to the side. It was impossible to get a reservation to Ohana, the buffet-character dining experience. We ate at the other restaurant, which was expensive but pretty good food all things considered. Nice greeting when we arrived, with leis and all that. Pool was nice although small. We did use the marina to rent the small boats, which was fun. Monorail and ferry are convenient and fun. No spa or gym onsite. Polynesian guests can use the Grand Floridian spa facilities, about a quarter mile along the shores of the Seven Seas Lagoon. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
This hotel is very convenient to the magic kingdom. The monorail is great. The rooms where big and clean. We didn't make reservations for dinner and breakfast but were accommodated at the café. "Disney World Resort with monorail access"
A late check-in was not very welcoming. Reservation was a mess & hotel staff had to re-book reservation twice to correct issues caused by booking through Expedia according to hotel staff. Lots of issues. Was not worth the money we paid for this particular hotel. Was quite disappointed.Genuine Expedia guest review
We are a family of 4 (2 kids ages 10 & 12) We live in California and have experienced The Disney Cailf. Grand Hotel 3 times, so we can only compare the Polynesian to what we know.. We traveled the second week of Jan in hopes of smaller crowds. As you would expect, Disney has done a great job with keeping the Island feel throughout the resort, lots […] of greenery and very lush surrounding. There are 2 pools, one is a volcano with a water slide, a beach with a video screen for night time movies. Great view of the Fireworks from Magic Kingdom. This is all very good. Our rooms were very clean and tidy, but a little dated. We did not mind it, because let's face it...you are NEVER in your room. We had very inconsistent water temps. Two of the five mornings we did not have hot water which was very strange and cold! We also had some inconsistency with housekeeping. Half the time they replaced the in room coffee and half the time they did not. We also had mixed experiences with hotel staff. We had the MOST helpful Concierge (Deren) who stayed way past closing time to help us with our Magic+ Bands and get us set up with all of our planning. Unfortunately, this was our second trip to the desk because the first person was helpful....but was not really going the extra mile to make sure we were all set up. She answered our questions, but did not connect all the dots. Nice hotel. Wouldn't pay for a lake view...all the rooms have good views of the grounds. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Disappointing stay at an old favorite."
Unfortunately the Experience was not Magical. Very unlike a normal disney experience. We've stayed at the Polynesian Resort in the past, but would definitely not rebook again. Our family vacation was almost ruined. The computer glitch in the system linking my sister-in-law, to my ticket meant no fast pass, hours of waiting time while they tried to separate […] our disney passes and bands and lots of attitude. We decided to leave the park a day early due to all of the issues. We had to remind the staff to "behave Magically" several times in front of my two and one half year old niece. The staff were obviously stressed out and not customer friendly. You pay more to stay at the resort for a convenient, magical experience, but this was not the case. It was a shame. "Wonderful Resort, Will Stay Here Again!"
We had such a wonderful time at the Polynesian Resort. Although we went at the busiest time of the year ~ over Christmas, we felt we got personal service from everyone. I have been going to Disney for many years and this resort was the most relaxing. Having been to Hawaii, staying here brought back many fond memories of the islands. "Great place for children and convenient. Wonderfu"
Very enjoyable surroundings. Easy to get around in the area with the transportation system they provide. One concern is the lack of easy access to sit down food service unless you book well in advance. "perfect location, clean resort"
We spent 6 nights in the resort and overall were very happy - the location is perfect with 3 mins walk to monorail. The stroller doesn't need to be unfolded on monorail which is a huge plus for us. The room is clean with lots of space. The resort is rated 4 star, which feels appropriate. We stayed in garden view - which is perfect. If we want to see […] the Magic Kingdom, we just need to walk 2 mins to the beach. The beach is small but the sand is white. The pool is clean with many safe guards. The depth is 1ft to 3ft so good for young kids. There is another pool but we didn't check it out. The only cons we experienced is that room service is somehow slow. The first day we came back at 1:30 pm but the room was not done yet. We requested a king bed but were told we have to wait (arrived at almost 2pm) but 2-queen is available immediately - which may be a result of the slow room service. Capital cook is a fast serve restaurent which opens 24 hours. adult entry is $10 and kids meal $7 that comes with a drink and a snack. Dole Whip (soft serv vanila or pineapple ice cream) is served with you-fill-the cup for around $3.5. I will stay in the same place next time and will recommend it to anyone. The new magic bands do not work well. We could not get I our room several times. Our park tickets and special Christmas party ticket on the magic bands serum rs work and sometimes did not. Had a great visit.Genuine Expedia guest review
I checked into the Polynesian and I was welcomed right away with the front desk agent. They gave my dad and I leis to wear around our neck. $1500 charge for incidentals is a bit much for 3 days. The room was ok, nothing special. It had a balcony. It was about a ten minute walk to our building Tokelai. I do not recommend this building for single females. […] When it gets dark, there a lot of bushes and not well lit. I work at a 4 star property back home, and in my opinion this hotel isn't worth $400-$500 a night. It does have the convenience of being on Disney's property. I have stayed at the Lowes Portofino and Hard Rock by universal. These properties are about $300 a night and more up to date in my opinion. The hotel looks cool on the outside and has two beautiful pools. Okana was difficult to get into, I don't realy know why. The food is good, but it is always sold out. The Polynesian is a nice hotel, but not a luxury hotel. The rates should be a lot lower, not in the category of the Four Seasons, and the Ritz. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Disney Birthday Getaway"
Our family traveled to celebrate our son's 17th Birthday. The Polynesian staff were always very friendly and helpful. You truly feel like you are in Hawaii. At the reception, the attendee got my mother in law a complementary wheel chair which was great for the next few […] days. Our family enjoyed riding the small boats at the marina and rented a pontoon to enjoy the sunset one evening. We experienced the luau that had a incredible Fire Show at the end. Food was very good throughout our stay. We especially appreciated the Hotel staff, because my wife left jewelry in the safe and forgot to retrieve it. "Although renovated, still a little tired"
Stayed here 10 years ago in the Concierge building, this time we stayed in a standard room, will not be doing that again. This was not the Polynesian I remembered from 10 years ago. It was over crowded in all of the general areas. You could not eat in any of the hotel restaurants where you would have table service unless you had reserved it before your stay. The only available food was at the small Capt. Hook cash and carry and carry restaurant which had a very limited […] menu. Ordering and paying for the food was confusing.. While there were enough pool towels, we found them to be so small an adult could not wrap a towel around their body. "Excellent attentive staff"
Julianna and Tom at club level were amazing and went above and beyond to make our stay a delight. If you stay club level you must ask for one of them. The maid for our room was incredibly sweet and made our room look amazing every day. She made towel animals for us daily and left us extra chocolates and towels her name was emina. The beds are hard and […] loud, club level is not worth the extra money at this hotel as much of the food and drinks you must ask for, where as at contemporary/grand Floridian they leave it available all day and night. Lots of kids @ this hotel and became crowded on club level with families eating the "snacks" seemingly as their breakfast lunch and dinner. I expected my stay to be wonderful as there are so many positive reviews, but I was very disappointed in Housekeeping and the friendliness of staff. The resort was not up to the Disney standards that I expect from such an expensive hotel. Stayed 4 nights in Rapa Nui and on Day 2, housekeeping never came to make up our room. Granted, we did come back […] to the room between 3pm-5pm and put a do not disturb sign on our door and the resort did leave us a message stating that they wanted to honor our "Do not disturb" sign and would not make up the room after 4:30pm, but what baffles me is that we were out of the room between 9am- 3pm so housekeeping had plenty of time (6 hours) to make up the room and give us fresh towels. Also found some staff members unfriendly, especially housekeeping. While several staff at the resort were friendly, housekeeping seemed grumpy with frowns on their faces. I had to ask for fresh towels and toiletries after they did not make up our room on the 2nd day, and the housekeeper gave me a dirty look and rolled her eyes as she handed them to me. Also, the hostess who sat us down for breakfast at Captain Cooks was not very friendly. She just didn't have that disney smile on her face and seemed miserable to be working there. Maybe we just stayed during an "off" week, but for the price I paid, I expect much better customer service. I stayed here once, but won't stay here again. They do have really comfy beds/pillows though. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Perfect resort with young kids"
Our children are 1 and 3 and this was our third trip to Disney with our 3 year old. We have always stayed on property, but this was the first time staying at a resort on the monorail. Staying on the monorail was wonderful with young kids. Everyday we were able to leave the parks with sleeping kids and head back to the resort to relax without having […] to break down strollers. We spent most afternoons enjoying the beach and pool. Our girls loved being able to see the castle and fireworks from the beach. It was a quick ride on the monorail to head back to the parks if we wanted to for the evening parades, rides, etc. We ate most meals at the Polynesian and enjoyed the variety of food selections. The grounds were beautiful and the rooms provided plenty of space. We comfortably fit 3 adults, 1 child, and an infant with crib in the room. Rooms at the resort can be on the pricey side; however, the convenience makes it well worth it if you will be spending the majority of the time at magic kindgom and/or epcot. "Best Value for Direct Monorail to Magic Kingdom"
Very convenient to Magic Kingdom but various aspects of the property show its age (primarily the really small elevators and the sprawl of the pool pales on comparison to many of the newer properties). The recent upgrades to the rooms were significant--better bathrooms mainly. The grounds are well-kept. The nicer restaurants are great but sometimes tough […] to get into. Captain Cooks (the 24 hour joint) seems to have regressed over the last 10 months (stayed here last Xmas). The flat bread was terrible, as was the service, and there always seems to be ample Disney Dining Plan people wandering around aimlessly waiting for the next opportunity to fill their Disney Big Gulp cups. Sort of annoying. These minor annoyances aside, is great to have direct monorail access to Magic Kingdom (if that's what you're looking for). The property is great with many side activities for kids (props on the evening movies and smores). The beach is great for watching fireworks off campus. Also, the self-parking is very close to the property which permits self-loading upon leaving and facilitates nearby car trips. Very worth considering this property (especially if get a reduced rate). The full season rate is absurd, even by Disney standards. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Wonderful staff but room a bit pricey"
The staff are the best thing about the hotel. Their attentiveness and desire to see you happy makes up for the room that seems a bit over priced for what it includes. "Great Service & Location, Rooms need Updating"
I just stayed for 4 nights with my two children. Hotel is close to everything and great staff. We love this hotel in spite of some flaws. The rooms are worn out and the lighting really needs some help. Found it hard to even pack to leave because of the so dim lights. My frig worked off and on. Some days we waited a long time for the right bus to come. […] The rooms are fairly large and very nice view of gorgeous landscaping. Staff makes up for blah rooms. We ordered room service breakfast and dinner every day and the staff was so friendly and remembered us. My son rode his skateboard all over the hotel grounds and not once did a staff member scold him, they just smile and say "be careful and have a Magical Day"! My kids love the volcano slide and the movie and smores every night on the beach and the fireworks and little lite up boat show on the lake. You can literally walk to Magic Kingdom in 5 minutes or less. We have stayed at Animal Kingdom Lodge where the rooms are modern but tiny and its kinda far from everything. We still prefer Polynesian because of the location right across the lake from Magic Kingdom, there is even a little private boat you can take that is really fast. Also the monorail comes right thru the hotel. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
