"perfect location, clean resort"
We spent 6 nights in the resort and overall were very happy - the location is perfect with 3 mins walk to monorail. The stroller doesn't need to be unfolded on monorail which is a huge plus for us. The room is clean with lots of space. The resort is rated 4 star, which feels appropriate. We stayed in garden view - which is perfect. If we want to see […] the Magic Kingdom, we just need to walk 2 mins to the beach. The beach is small but the sand is white. The pool is clean with many safe guards. The depth is 1ft to 3ft so good for young kids. There is another pool but we didn't check it out. The only cons we experienced is that room service is somehow slow. The first day we came back at 1:30 pm but the room was not done yet. We requested a king bed but were told we have to wait (arrived at almost 2pm) but 2-queen is available immediately - which may be a result of the slow room service. Capital cook is a fast serve restaurent which opens 24 hours. adult entry is $10 and kids meal $7 that comes with a drink and a snack. Dole Whip (soft serv vanila or pineapple ice cream) is served with you-fill-the cup for around $3.5. I will stay in the same place next time and will recommend it to anyone. "The new id bands are a disaster."
The new magic bands do not work well. We could not get I our room several times. Our park tickets and special Christmas party ticket on the magic bands serum rs work and sometimes did not. Our room was not cleaned one day. Staff was friendly and wanted to help but could not as most of our issues were an "IT" problem. "Great Location, Friendly Staff, Fun Pool"
Had a great visit.Genuine Expedia guest review
I checked into the Polynesian and I was welcomed right away with the front desk agent. They gave my dad and I leis to wear around our neck. $1500 charge for incidentals is a bit much for 3 days. The room was ok, nothing special. It had a balcony. It was about a ten minute walk to our building Tokelai. I do not recommend this building for single females. […] When it gets dark, there a lot of bushes and not well lit. I work at a 4 star property back home, and in my opinion this hotel isn't worth $400-$500 a night. It does have the convenience of being on Disney's property. I have stayed at the Lowes Portofino and Hard Rock by universal. These properties are about $300 a night and more up to date in my opinion. The hotel looks cool on the outside and has two beautiful pools. Okana was difficult to get into, I don't realy know why. The food is good, but it is always sold out. The Polynesian is a nice hotel, but not a luxury hotel. The rates should be a lot lower, not in the category of the Four Seasons, and the Ritz. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Disney Birthday Getaway"
Our family traveled to celebrate our son's 17th Birthday. The Polynesian staff were always very friendly and helpful. You truly feel like you are in Hawaii. We enjoyed our dinners at the Kona Cafe and had a Character Breakfast at the Ohana. At the reception, the attendee got my mother in law a complementary wheel chair which was great for the next few […] days. Our family enjoyed riding the small boats at the marina and rented a pontoon to enjoy the sunset one evening. We experienced the luau that had a incredible Fire Show at the end. Food was very good throughout our stay. We especially appreciated the Hotel staff, because my wife left jewelry in the safe and forgot to retrieve it. The hotel was able to get it and send it back to us all in tack! The proximity and use of the Monorail was fantastic when we left the Magic Kingdom. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Although renovated, still a little tired"
Stayed here 10 years ago in the Concierge building, this time we stayed in a standard room, will not be doing that again. Although the rooms were renovated, the entire place looks a little tired to me. The location and conveniences are the properties best assets. For the expensive rates, I think there are better options. Also, the bar area could be […] better located. It is in the middle of everything and would be nice if it was set apart from the crowds waiting for the restaurant. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
This was not the Polynesian I remembered from 10 years ago. It was over crowded in all of the general areas. You could not eat in any of the hotel restaurants where you would have table service unless you had reserved it before your stay. The only available food was at the small Capt. Hook cash and carry and carry restaurant which had a very limited […] menu. Ordering and paying for the food was confusing.. While there were enough pool towels, we found them to be so small an adult could not wrap a towel around their body. We got the wrong information regarding bus service from a hotel employee which cost us an evening at Downtown Disney. Will never pay the $500/night or stay in a Disney hotel again. Universal's hotels are better organized for a much more enjoyable vacation. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Excellent attentive staff"
Julianna and Tom at club level were amazing and went above and beyond to make our stay a delight. If you stay club level you must ask for one of them. The maid for our room was incredibly sweet and made our room look amazing every day. She made towel animals for us daily and left us extra chocolates and towels her name was emina. The beds are hard and […] loud, club level is not worth the extra money at this hotel as much of the food and drinks you must ask for, where as at contemporary/grand Floridian they leave it available all day and night. Lots of kids @ this hotel and became crowded on club level with families eating the "snacks" seemingly as their breakfast lunch and dinner. If you need a tray to carry it all...it's no longer a snack. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
I expected my stay to be wonderful as there are so many positive reviews, but I was very disappointed in Housekeeping and the friendliness of staff. The resort was not up to the Disney standards that I expect from such an expensive hotel. Stayed 4 nights in Rapa Nui and on Day 2, housekeeping never came to make up our room. Granted, we did come back […] to the room between 3pm-5pm and put a do not disturb sign on our door and the resort did leave us a message stating that they wanted to honor our "Do not disturb" sign and would not make up the room after 4:30pm, but what baffles me is that we were out of the room between 9am- 3pm so housekeeping had plenty of time (6 hours) to make up the room and give us fresh towels. Also found some staff members unfriendly, especially housekeeping. While several staff at the resort were friendly, housekeeping seemed grumpy with frowns on their faces. I had to ask for fresh towels and toiletries after they did not make up our room on the 2nd day, and the housekeeper gave me a dirty look and rolled her eyes as she handed them to me. Also, the hostess who sat us down for breakfast at Captain Cooks was not very friendly. She just didn't have that disney smile on her face and seemed miserable to be working there. Maybe we just stayed during an "off" week, but for the price I paid, I expect much better customer service. I stayed here once, but won't stay here again. They do have really comfy beds/pillows though. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Perfect resort with young kids"
Our children are 1 and 3 and this was our third trip to Disney with our 3 year old. We have always stayed on property, but this was the first time staying at a resort on the monorail. Staying on the monorail was wonderful with young kids. Everyday we were able to leave the parks with sleeping kids and head back to the resort to relax without having […] to break down strollers. We spent most afternoons enjoying the beach and pool. Our girls loved being able to see the castle and fireworks from the beach. It was a quick ride on the monorail to head back to the parks if we wanted to for the evening parades, rides, etc. We ate most meals at the Polynesian and enjoyed the variety of food selections. The grounds were beautiful and the rooms provided plenty of space. We comfortably fit 3 adults, 1 child, and an infant with crib in the room. Rooms at the resort can be on the pricey side; however, the convenience makes it well worth it if you will be spending the majority of the time at magic kindgom and/or epcot. "Best Value for Direct Monorail to Magic Kingdom"
Very convenient to Magic Kingdom but various aspects of the property show its age (primarily the really small elevators and the sprawl of the pool pales on comparison to many of the newer properties). The recent upgrades to the rooms were significant--better bathrooms mainly. The grounds are well-kept. The nicer restaurants are great but sometimes tough […] to get into. Captain Cooks (the 24 hour joint) seems to have regressed over the last 10 months (stayed here last Xmas). The flat bread was terrible, as was the service, and there always seems to be ample Disney Dining Plan people wandering around aimlessly waiting for the next opportunity to fill their Disney Big Gulp cups. Sort of annoying. These minor annoyances aside, is great to have direct monorail access to Magic Kingdom (if that's what you're looking for). The property is great with many side activities for kids (props on the evening movies and smores). The beach is great for watching fireworks off campus. Also, the self-parking is very close to the property which permits self-loading upon leaving and facilitates nearby car trips. Very worth considering this property (especially if get a reduced rate). The full season rate is absurd, even by Disney standards. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Wonderful staff but room a bit pricey"
The staff are the best thing about the hotel. Their attentiveness and desire to see you happy makes up for the room that seems a bit over priced for what it includes. Our room was clean and included the basics but when compared to other hotel rooms with similar it was a lot more expensive. I guess you are paying for that "extra" Disney experience which […] I can't say was lacking from the staff, to the short walk to tickets / monorails, beautiful grounds, etc. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Great Service & Location, Rooms need Updating"
I just stayed for 4 nights with my two children. Hotel is close to everything and great staff. We love this hotel in spite of some flaws. The rooms are worn out and the lighting really needs some help. Found it hard to even pack to leave because of the so dim lights. My frig worked off and on. Some days we waited a long time for the right bus to come. […] The rooms are fairly large and very nice view of gorgeous landscaping. Staff makes up for blah rooms. We ordered room service breakfast and dinner every day and the staff was so friendly and remembered us. My son rode his skateboard all over the hotel grounds and not once did a staff member scold him, they just smile and say "be careful and have a Magical Day"! My kids love the volcano slide and the movie and smores every night on the beach and the fireworks and little lite up boat show on the lake. You can literally walk to Magic Kingdom in 5 minutes or less. We have stayed at Animal Kingdom Lodge where the rooms are modern but tiny and its kinda far from everything. We still prefer Polynesian because of the location right across the lake from Magic Kingdom, there is even a little private boat you can take that is really fast. Also the monorail comes right thru the hotel. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

We travel from NW Georgia to Disney most every year. We always stay on property and have stayed at all categories of the resorts. We came with the family to celebrate our 50th anniversary. Every one of us had a fun time.........ages 7 to 70. Only drawback to the hotel is the food. I had a chicken sandwich with cheese and bacon, the bread was so soggy and not editable that I had to remove […] it along with the cheese that was baked into the bun and the bacon was tough and not editable on the sandwich. "WDW Polynesian Resort"
The Polynesian Resort is our family's favorite Disneyworld Resort. We love everything about it, but let me be more specific. The Great Ceremonial House, the Polynesian's lobby, exudes a tropical paradise and even has a unique scent. The central waterfall is infused with lava rock and tropical foliage. Moving through the lobby and out to the back, you […] are surrounded by lush tropical plants, a running stream and a pool topped with a volcano that encloses a pool slide. The entire resort is made up of longhouses, or individual buildings that are two or three stories tall. The rooms are spacious with two queen beds and a sofa that doubles as another single bed. The Polynesian has a primo location with access to the Magic Kingdom via the monorail and ferry. You can see the Magic Kingdom's Cinderella's Castle, watch the fireworks, and see the Electrical Water Paegent all from the resort's beach. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Good for famlies, poor for everyone else"
The rooms and pools were nice, and the staff were pleasant. Hotel dining options, on the other hand, were disappointing. The cheap cafe downstairs was OK, -- eggs and pancakes in the morning, burgers at night -- but when we tried to eat at the coffee shop upstairs we had to wait for over an hour -- and then the maitre d' claimed he had called us but […] our pager wasn't working (hmm, doubtful). When we finally got seated, the menu was paltry. The full-service dining room was totally unavailable to us because, they said, you needed to have reserved a table six months earlier! How can this be? I've always believed that, as a full-fare paying hotel customer, I'm always entitled to a chance to buy dinner in the hotel, but apparently that's not so here. "Great family hotel!"
Loved this hotel! It's great for families with kids and Disney sure knows how to accommodate. It's a little pricey but worth it. The staff was really friendly and helpful. Our room was in a prime location to the pool, restaurants and gift shops. Although we had a balcony attachment, it had no walk out capabilities.Genuine Expedia guest review
At check-in the associate noticed that we had one king bed for 4 people, and he immediately found us another room. It was in a building (Raratonga) that was extremely convenient to the lobby (Great Ceremonial House). If in this building, I would recommend a 3rd floor room with a view of the garden and quiet pool. I sat on the balcony one evening, and […] although the castle was blocked by the other resort buildings, I could see the fireworks at Magic Kingdom. Another great plus is that the Electric Water Parade is presented every night directly in front of the hotel beach. (9 pm) They had movies for families on the beach in the evenings, and would pause them for the castle fireworks (10 pm) and then continue. The wedding chapel is a short walk along the beach, and they also have jet boats, pontoons, sailboats, and four-wheeled bike/cars (not sure what to call them) for rent at the marina. Captain Cook's had Dole Whip, snacks and beverages 24hrs. and also sold refillable mugs. (Get one at the start of your visit.) They had the famous Tonga Toast for breakfast, and the pineapple/vanilla Dole Whip machine. We also ate at the Ohana Character Breakfast. The food was good and service fast and friendly, but the price was rather high. There are only 4 characters (Pluto, Mickey, Milo and Stitch.) None are speaking characters and they come to your tables VERY quickly, so you have to be ready with the camera before they move on to another. They all lead a little march at the end. "Our family vacation at Disney's Polynesian Resort."
We had a wonderful vacation at The Polynesian. Disney service is exceptional to say the least. From the moment we boarded the Disney Magical Express until we arrived in our room we felt the magic! The welcome was beyond excellent. They were excited to see my kids, adorning us in Hawaiian leis, directed and assisting us to our room and generally just […] lavishing us in Disney magic. The grounds were gorgeous and well maintained. The room was very spacious and the beds were very nice. We had a light bulb out over our little bar, fridge, food area and the housekeepers took care of that with one little note. They were great at keeping our room neat tidy even as our Disney merchandise kept mutliplying. Our building was under renovation and there were construction crews on site pretty much all the time, but even that mess and noise was kept at a minimum. We were celebrating two birthdays and I mean EVERYONE said Happy Birthday to my two guys. The pools were clean and so much fun. The childrens activity staff was remarkable, patient and FUN. We went to the Polynesian's luau on our arrival night and the food was delicious and the show was very entertaining! I just have to say my daughter's reaction as we were waiting to board our bus back to the airport says it all. She sat on the bench with her Minnie on her lap fighting back tears. If you have been to Hawaii then this will not surprise you. Its basically a nice hotel although a bit dated. The problem is trying to eat. There is one nice restaurant, and you need reservations. "It's Not What I Expected"
The hotel location can't be beat. The Polynesian theme - amazing. Great pool! However, for the price of the room, you are not getting what you pay for. We had two adjoining rooms.
