"WDW Polynesian Resort"
The Polynesian Resort is our family's favorite Disneyworld Resort. We love everything about it, but let me be more specific. The Great Ceremonial House, the Polynesian's lobby, exudes a tropical paradise and even has a unique scent. The central waterfall is infused with lava rock and tropical foliage. Moving through the lobby and out to the back, you […] are surrounded by lush tropical plants, a running stream and a pool topped with a volcano that encloses a pool slide. The entire resort is made up of longhouses, or individual buildings that are two or three stories tall. The rooms are spacious with two queen beds and a sofa that doubles as another single bed. The Polynesian has a primo location with access to the Magic Kingdom via the monorail and ferry. You can see the Magic Kingdom's Cinderella's Castle, watch the fireworks, and see the Electrical Water Paegent all from the resort's beach. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Good for famlies, poor for everyone else"
The rooms and pools were nice, and the staff were pleasant. Hotel dining options, on the other hand, were disappointing. The cheap cafe downstairs was OK, -- eggs and pancakes in the morning, burgers at night -- but when we tried to eat at the coffee shop upstairs we had to wait for over an hour -- and then the maitre d' claimed he had called us but […] our pager wasn't working (hmm, doubtful). When we finally got seated, the menu was paltry. The full-service dining room was totally unavailable to us because, they said, you needed to have reserved a table six months earlier! How can this be? I've always believed that, as a full-fare paying hotel customer, I'm always entitled to a chance to buy dinner in the hotel, but apparently that's not so here. Also, the staff neglected to clean our room at all one day. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"A fun place to stay"
While I felt the room wasn't as clean as it should have been, it was spacious and quiet. It overlooked Seven Seas Lagoon so we had awesome views from early morning until late at night. Resort staff seemed tired with or disinterested in their work. Not nearly as upbeat and engaging as we are accustomed to from Disney Cast Members.Genuine Expedia guest review
My son and I stayed here for a birthday celebration. There is plenty of choices for eating, we rode over to the Grand Floridan on the monorail to eat there, and we could have done much more. We were able to get a room right next to the pool, which was amazing. The room is great, there is nothing I could think of to improve except that I wish I booked […] another night. "Great family hotel!"
Loved this hotel! It's great for families with kids and Disney sure knows how to accommodate. It's a little pricey but worth it. The monorail wait was a little long at times and not enough ac, but this is not something the hotel can control. Other than this little set back, I highly recommend this hotel!Genuine Expedia guest review
The staff was really friendly and helpful. Our room was in a prime location to the pool, restaurants and gift shops. Although we had a balcony attachment, it had no walk out capabilities.Genuine Expedia guest review
At check-in the associate noticed that we had one king bed for 4 people, and he immediately found us another room. It was in a building (Raratonga) that was extremely convenient to the lobby (Great Ceremonial House). If in this building, I would recommend a 3rd floor room with a view of the garden and quiet pool. I sat on the balcony one evening, and […] although the castle was blocked by the other resort buildings, I could see the fireworks at Magic Kingdom. Another great plus is that the Electric Water Parade is presented every night directly in front of the hotel beach. (9 pm) They had movies for families on the beach in the evenings, and would pause them for the castle fireworks (10 pm) and then continue. The wedding chapel is a short walk along the beach, and they also have jet boats, pontoons, sailboats, and four-wheeled bike/cars (not sure what to call them) for rent at the marina. Captain Cook's had Dole Whip, snacks and beverages 24hrs. and also sold refillable mugs. (Get one at the start of your visit.) They had the famous Tonga Toast for breakfast, and the pineapple/vanilla Dole Whip machine. We also ate at the Ohana Character Breakfast. The food was good and service fast and friendly, but the price was rather high. There are only 4 characters (Pluto, Mickey, Milo and Stitch.) None are speaking characters and they come to your tables VERY quickly, so you have to be ready with the camera before they move on to another. They all lead a little march at the end. "Our family vacation at Disney's Polynesian Resort."
We had a wonderful vacation at The Polynesian. Disney service is exceptional to say the least. From the moment we boarded the Disney Magical Express until we arrived in our room we felt the magic! The welcome was beyond excellent. They were excited to see my kids, adorning us in Hawaiian leis, directed and assisting us to our room and generally just […] lavishing us in Disney magic. The grounds were gorgeous and well maintained. The room was very spacious and the beds were very nice. We had a light bulb out over our little bar, fridge, food area and the housekeepers took care of that with one little note. They were great at keeping our room neat tidy even as our Disney merchandise kept mutliplying. Our building was under renovation and there were construction crews on site pretty much all the time, but even that mess and noise was kept at a minimum. We were celebrating two birthdays and I mean EVERYONE said Happy Birthday to my two guys. The pools were clean and so much fun. The childrens activity staff was remarkable, patient and FUN. We went to the Polynesian's luau on our arrival night and the food was delicious and the show was very entertaining! I just have to say my daughter's reaction as we were waiting to board our bus back to the airport says it all. She sat on the bench with her Minnie on her lap fighting back tears. I got down in front of her and asked what was wrong. She said, "I'm just going to miss this place mom; when can we come back?". :) Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
We have always wanted to stay at the Polynesian, but we finally booked a very good rate. It was a wonderful trip.Genuine Expedia guest review
Great location to the Parks. The hotel room itself was very dark. The lighting in the bathroom was not sufficient. We had a Lagoon view and that was lovely but it was at the end of the building and the entrance was not up to the usual Disney standards. It seemed neglected .Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"First Time But Will Be Back!"
We loved everything about the Polynesian. It was nicer than we even anticipated, and we will be back! You can't beat the location.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Lack of good food and restaurants"
If you have been to Hawaii then this will not surprise you. Its basically a nice hotel although a bit dated. The problem is trying to eat. There is one nice restaurant, and you need reservations. Most of the time is booked, especially if you are at the parks during the day, and want to come back to eat. You end up just grabbing fast food type stuff, […] which gets old fast. They need a good supermarket in this place so you can get some healthy snacks for your kids, not just cookies and lollipops. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
I was looking forward to a nice weekend with my husband and after paying 550 dollars for one night, I was expecting to be wowed. The staff is very friendly and the lobby is pretty but the rooms are OLD! Cheap toiletries, nothing special and I have actually have much nicer rooms at the local Hilton hotels. The restaurants are so crowded, the we had to […] wait over an hour to be able to have some supper at a little caffe. The guy in the reception area told us that for reservation for the only other restaurant at the hotel, we would have needed to call 6 months ahead!...overall very disappointed and must definetely would not be coming back or recommending this hotel to anyone. "It's Not What I Expected"
The hotel location can't be beat. The Polynesian theme - amazing. Great pool! However, for the price of the room, you are not getting what you pay for. We had two adjoining rooms. Each room had stains on the carpet, there was at least one broken cabinet door and, to top it all off, I got my bed ready on day one and found a spider sitting on the sheets […] when I pulled the covers down, alive and crawling. Only happened once - never again - but it certainly made me look much more closely. Honestly, if you're looking for a basic room and place to sleep, this can't be beat based on the location, but I feel the rooms are very overpriced based on my experience. "Family Disney trip"
For the price that you pay for a Disney resort you would expect more. Especially at a Disney property. We stayed 4 nights on property for the 4th of July. We had a room overlooking the lagoon but all we could see were bushes and trees, no view. We had to secure our porch furniture in our room to keep other guest from snatching them up to watch fireworks. […] Rooms were in terrible condition and should be renovated, food from the hotel was terrible. I would expect such quality from a hospital cafeteria not a 5 star resort. I am sure if Walt Disney himself was alive he would not stand for that quality of food. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Convenient and Tropical"
This hotel makes traveling to all the Disney parks a breeze. We loved the combo of kitschy Hawaian and beautiful tropical plantings. With 4 to a room we were never cramped and liked the generously sized bathroom with two sinks. We stayed in Hawaii with the club level lounge. We found the food and beverage offerings great for filling in our meals. Hotel appearance very appealing! Fun atmosphere for kids and adults! Pool is great, have your own beach but the water that it goes into to is very dirty! We stayed two nights at the polynesian and enjoyed every minute. From the moment we checked our bags the staff greeted us with a smile and were very courteous and helpful. We felt right at home and check in was a breeze, with our room ready at noon. The kids loved the volcano pool and spent hours using the slide and playing on the beach area. At night […] enjoy the lighted boat parade that goes right off the beach before the big screen kids movie. If you are looking for a very laid back higher end hotel, definitely try the polynesian. This hotel was perfect for my family of four! I have a 3 and a 5 year old and there was plenty to keep them busy, from the beautiful pool and kiddie activities to the movie on the beach at night! "Great polynesian experience compliments of Disney!"
We LOVED our stay at Polynesian. From the Aloha greetings upon our arrival, complimentary lei to the beautiful lush tropical foliage, rocky waterfall and flaming torches lining the entrance, we have never received a more warm welcome. The volcano pool with slide was a hit with our teen boys, and the quiet beach with lake view and frozen tropical treat […] was just what the doctor ordered for two workaholics like my husband and I. The rooms are located in lodge-like two-story buildings that are spread out among sprawling trails and foliage. We were greeted by a few bunnies on our return from the parks on two separate occasions. Loved the monorail access, but you can also walk straight to the MK ticket area in a matter of minutes. Very quiet and relaxing, and excellent service from delivery of our bags upon arrival to the ease upon having purchases at the parks delivered to our hotel so we didn't have to carry them around. We also recommend the Spirit of Aloha dinner show–the food was more impressive than we expected and the show was fun and informative! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Location Location Location"
After 4 Disney vacations in a year's time, we have become quite familiar with the surroundings. We've stayed at the Floridian and now the Polynesian (as well as off-grounds twice), and by far the Polynesian is our favorite of the locales. With little ones, staying on the monorail is essential. As for the Polynesian, the grounds are immaculate and the […] gardens quite relaxing to walk through to your room. Proximity to the transportation center makes getting to Epcot easiest. The restaurant at the Polynesian (Ohana) is a personal favorite. Rooms were more spacious than the Floridian, as were the bathrooms. Automatic doors to each building were a nice convenience when using strollers. Staff was all friendly, as to be expected at Disney. We encountered a faulty toilet when we checked in that took a while to repair, and then were forced out of our room for maintenance on the A/C. Both of these issues happened on the same day, which made them more significant than they otherwise would have been separately. One other minor inconvenience was the lack of luggage carts at the building to help with loading/unloading. Overall this was our favorite hotel due to the location on the monorail and proximity to the transportation center, as well as the location of our favorite restaurant within the resort. Very nice pools, and you can watch the nightly fireworks from behind the ceremonial house. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice but dont expect too much help from the staff"
The hotel is definitely overpriced but so are all the Disney resorts but the location is super convenient for the magic kingdom. The staff is a little slow and didn't give us any advice. 2 tips: -Take your luggage to your room on your own and do not let the porter help you. The porter unloaded our luggage and then after I tipped him, he informed us […] that we would have to contact someone else to take our luggage to our room. - Take the monorail from the hotel and not from the main transportation hub. "location and amenities outweigh age"
Just returned from vacation with my husband and almost 3 year old. YES this hotel needs to be updated. I noticed it more in the rooms than anywhere else. BUT the pool, beach, and kids activities (poolside afternoon games, marshmallow roasting in evenings, nightly movie shown on beach, ability to watch MK fireworks from hotel beach, ease of use of tram […] or boat to quickly go back and forth from MK) far outweighed any worn chair in our hotel room. Do the rooms need to be updated YES. Would we stay here again for location and amenities even if no updating YES. Hope this helps. "Gateway to Magic Kingdom"
This is one of the oldest Disney resorts, with all the baggage positive and negative, that goes with it. As a way to visit Disney's Magic Kingdom, this location is incomparable. Transportation (monorail or water shuttle), access (the vaunted "extra magic hours") and ambiance (the Disney customer service model) are all in a class by themselves. For example, […] on leaving the Magic Kingdom around 11:00pm, the Monorail was jammed, so we headed for the boat launch. An extra boat showed up to accomodate the crowd and speed us back to the hotel, avoiding the "rush hour" experience of a packed, delayed monorail. As a hotel experience, the facilities are a bit dated to the point of retro-hipness; the Polynesian decor is left over from a "Brady Bunch" episode. It seems work is ongoing to update the rooms. Our basic room was refreshingly spare and easily accommodated two adults and three kids, just don't expect to spend much time IN your room as even though nicely renovated, it retains the 1970s hotel room dimensions. Best use of this location was the pool and grounds mid-day: hit the Magic Kingdom early AM, come back and unwind, rinse off, refresh, nap, eat lunch, then hit the Magic Kingdom in the evening for parades, fireworks, more rides up to closing. "Polynesian Resort at Disney World"
Everything about the Polynesian Resort at Disney World is excellent, except the food served in the Polynesian restaurants. Captain Cook's snack bar does not have enough menu choices and the limited items available are overpriced and mediocre to awful. I took a chance on the cheeseburger and then finally the grilled cheese sandwich. Both tasted like […] they were under the warming lamps since the day before. McDonald's could give this place a lesson on making hamburgers and I don't eat McDonald's hamburgers either. Food in the Kona Cafe wasn't much better. We eventually discovered much better food at the Grand Floridian Hotel next door to the Polynesian. Disney World is a world famous, world class resort. "Location is not worth it"
Almost $400/night for a room without hot water for 2 days. I called 4 times before it was fixed. I was given a disabled room which I did not request. It did not have a tub and therefore I could not bathe my child- when I called to have it changed, I was told I could change the next day at 11am. Since I had already spent $260 on amusement park tickets […] for the next day I opted not to miss those hours and have a dirty child who promised to bathe by shower (not a good idea). I brought him back early from the park for a nap one day to find the electricity was out (as I was notified by a card under the door the night before-- for reg scheduled maintanence.. How come accommodation were nt made before?). The bathroom was pitch black, we were unable to see at all. I had to have my kid pee in the bushes outside of the room. The paint on the walls is peeling. It took 2 hrs to get luggage delivered to our room. Despite this- I enjoyed the view and location. Just can't believed I was fleeced in such a manner.
