The hotel was pretty standard. We just stayed for a quick overnight. The front staff was not pretty helpful when we came in on an early flight and needed to check in early because we had a 2 p.m. wedding. I am a person who loves to get the most for my money especially when my options are limited. I booked this hotel a few weeks before my stay and I didn't have much to choose from since all the good hotels were taken and the cheap ones...looked cheap and disgusting. I did my pro's and cons and the Courtyard won. I'm glad it did b/c it worked out perfect!! […] They had a convenient shuttle to the subway (1 minute away) where we took ithe subway to Fenway ($5 roundtrip), free parking, nice lobby, clean good size rooms and better priced than any hotel right in downtown. "Good Location and Free Parking, otherwise only OK"
We chose this hotel because of the free parking and its proximity to the T (Andrew St Station, only a short walk away). We were pretty excited to find out that there was a hot tub, and it was the first thing we checked out after checking in. Unfortunately, it was caution-taped off and there was a sign saying "Jacuzzi Out of Order." We explored the city […] that night and the next day. After a long day of walking we decided that we would head back early iIF the hot tub was fixed and have a relaxing night at the hotel, otherwise (since there isn't much to do in the hotel's immediate area), we would stay out and see the nightlife in Boston. We called the hotel inquiring about the Hot Tub. The person at the front desk replied that she didn’t know it was broken and went to check on it then said it was fixed. We came back to the hotel only to see the same sign (located about 5-10 feet from the concierge desk) and the same caution tape. When we asked why they told us it was fixed, one person said "Oh it WAS fixed and then it broke again." (In the span of an hour?) Then the second concierge admitted that she actually didn't know what we were talking about and she thought we meant the hot tub in the “Jacuzzi Suite.” Disappointed, we went back to our rooms. When I went into the bathroom I saw that the juice I poured into the sink that morning was still there but easily washed away by turning on the faucet. The hotel is standard Courtyard, so acceptable with clean rooms, indoor pool, etc. We used mapquest to get directions before we left and the directions were terrible. We could see the hotel, but could not get to it. Happens that it is behind a big shopping mall (great for those who want to shop and dine out), but the entrance to the hotel is not marked. "A bit out of the way"
The room was nice ... comfortable ... clean. Nice looking hotel but inconvenient to the subway, especially if you have difficulty walking (not good at all for people in walkers or wheelchairs). Trying to get a taxi was like pulling teeth and the hotel staff were no help at all. The first night I was there the young man at the desk insisted I should […] take the subway rather than wait for the taxi ... I explained to him TWICE that I was new to Boston, did not know where the restaurant was where I was going to, and that I had not learned how to use the subway yet ... I had only arrived 2 hours earlier. "Well I'll call a taxi for you if you really want me too." was his answer. Waited for 1/2 an hour before calling the cab company myself ... and we only lucked out with a cab 15 minutes later because someone was being dropped off from the airport. Fortunately the restaurant was able to still seat us. For the rest of the stay we experienced the same unfriendliness from the hotel staff ... like we were a bother. Beds in my room were the most uncomfortable my wife and I have ever slept on. We did notice that new mattresses were being moved into rooms so the hotel may be in the process of upgrading them. "A Good Deal"
This hotel was a nice stay at a great price. The staff was very nice and gladly brought anything we needed up to our room within minutes of calling. You do sacrifice a few things for the price though. You are not within walking distance of the town so you either need to drive and pay a sometimes ridiculous amount of money to park in a garage or you […] can take the "T" which I believe is the local train into town (not sure on ticket prices). Regardless, that did not bother me. I at least had options to get into the city if I needed. The neighborhood on the other side of the hotel located behind the shopping center was VERY SKETCHY. We went to visit Boston College and and the GPS took us through some really rough areas within walking distance of the hotels. I must say I had no issues and the hotel seems to be fenced off from the area well. One of the biggest perks for us was that parking was free at this hotel. Many hotels we looked into charged a daily fee to park on top of what you are paying per night. This hotel does not do that. I had a very good experience at this hotel. It was a bit hard to find as it's tucked behind a Holiday Inn Express, but once it's found it's in a very convenient location and near the T. The first room that I was given smelled very strongly of air freshener so I called the desk and they offered another room which was much better. Recently stayed here for a girls weekend in the city and conference. I was amazed at the prices in the city so this was a nicer option (more than I would normally pay for a courtyard marriott but way better than $300+/night in the city). Everything was as pictured, was updated and clean. Only improvement in the room could have been a mirror outside […] the bathroom but the shower was great! Front desk staff were not overly friendly but polite. Had our breakfast not come included with the room price I would not have paid the $12+ per person that is normally charged. It was a simple breakfast that most hotels offer for free. Others have mentioned about not feeling safe while walking to the T; we walked several times and had no problems. The hotel can be a bit tricky to find when driving however. Located just behind a large shopping complex with an Olive Garden, Panera, Applebees, and grocery store which was convenient. I do not know who is at fault, but the fact is the staff at Marriott did not or could not rectify the problem. I booked a suite with two Queen beds and received a suite with One Queen bed.
