"Expensive for what you get."
Front desk initial reception quite good, Paul helpful and efficient. Later encounters with his associates not as friendly with little or no eye contact, could have been anyone passing through. Room much in need of modernization, paintwork badly maintained and updated by blind person. Kitchen area small and tidy but totally NO utensils or plates etc., of any kind apart from small coffee maker. Even if you managed to produce some food there was no table or surface from which you could eat comfortably. This is a big deal considering the cost. Aircon unit stuck in window oldstyle which made room noisy when traffic started up around 6 am. Location of hotel fabulous. Nice safe area close to many pubs and restaurants with subway at top of street and river walk/park at bottum. If you like nice hotel with all mod cons, bar/restaurant etc., this is not for you but you will need to spend plenty for the upgrade!

"The Most Cheap, Expensive Hotel in New York"
"Welcome to the most cheap, expensive hotel in New York." som receptionisten lite skämtsamt sade när vi checkade in.

"Trip to New York"

This Hotel is part way through refurbishing the rooms - we got a newly refurbished double room with new bathroom - no complaints on that score - helpful staff at reception and Hotel is close to Subway into the City. Plenty of places to eat and deli's within walking distance. Excellent value for money.

"Expect to smell Drugs"
07/26/15 Benlondon79 Cancun, Mexico
First week in the hotel and our floor smelt strongly of cannabis. So much so we had to open the window in our room as felt are room & clothes was starting to smell of it. Went to front desk to tell them about it and was met with "What can we do about it", The guy on the front desk was understanding but said he couldn't do anything. If it had of been in my country I would of phoned the police but was scared to encase I was thrown out of hotel and lost all my money/deposit. The room was dated and not really that clean with hairs in the bed but you have to remember the hotel is cheap for a reason. The location is great just one block from the train station and a short walk to Central Park. They also let us keep our suitcases at the hotel until the time of our flight. As for aircon its just a fan unit fixed in to the window. You can't use this while sleeping due to how loud it is.

"Absolutely The WORST!,"
06/18/15 cjunec3039 Memphis, Tennessee
I can 't review the hotel itself, because I never stayed there. Less than 24 hours before my check-in date, I got an email from "Gleny", informing there was no room available for me, despite the fact that I had a confirmed, prepaid in full confirmation. ''Gleny'' gave me l reason whatsoever as to why there was no accomodations for me, just a sort of (in poor grammar and spelling), weak apology. I called the hotel and was told by "Gleny's" assistance to hold on a d he'd ask her. Turns out, according to "Gleny", the hotel is undergoing renovations and there were no available rooms. Hmm... As I was being told that, I was looking at the hotel on line and guess what? Rooms available for the exact dates I needed! What's up with THAT? And what's up with avai.ability for the same dates the next day, the day after that AND everyday since then? Availability still being shown, plus the fact that I had prepaid the entire amount up front AND had received an email confirmation smells of breach of contract to me...something I AM going to pursue when my lawyer returns to town in two days. From the mostly negative reviews I've read about the hotel, including bad customer service, I'd like to see a class action suit filed- as,l

This place is awful. I don't even understand how it has reviews from travelers as the manager told me they only have housing for J1 students. And btw, you can never talk to this manager - Glenny. She is never to be found. Here I had the only bad New York experience. Awful staff!!!

"not worth that place"

This is a cheap hotel, dirty and with bedbugs. really not worth to stay with this price. By my knowledge, according to NY city law and the code of this building, they should not charge to guest for such an expensive price because this is not a real hotel but an apartment building for long-term stay tenants, and they are paying special tax for this kind of building. so all the Tax they are charging you is the only reason to increase your price. They will not report this part of income to INS. Do not get cheated!!!!!!!!

"Horrible Place"
02/21/14 HowNiceDiver New York City, New York
This hotel is currently being investigated as illegal by the NYC government. Tenants have complained of harassment by management and those allegations were sustained by a judge. Like so many places in NYC it has a nice facade but is a dump inside. Until they get the legal mess straightened out I would not stay in this place again.

"Great location, decent hotel."
02/21/14 Viaggi0Xpassi0ne Naples, Italy
I read about many unhappy travelers slagging off this hotel. They might be right as I can't prove them wrong. To be honest I can't praise the Imperial Court Hotel all the way, but I can't have bad words either. My overall experience with this place was more than decent and I would recommend it if you asked me. I spent 14 nights with a relative in a double twin-room. The furnishing was a bit old fashioned but everything was right into place as advertised on the website. The room big and clean. Two double-beds(what they call 'queen size' in the US), two nightstands with night lamps, two small sofas, two wardrobes, one desk, two chairs, one safe, large bathroom with bath tub/shower and even some cooking facilities(fridge, microwave, pottery, cutlery, kettle, etc). 3 windows with a depressing view to the fire stairs on the inside of the building. Air conditioned. The staff was helpful and friendly. I only dealt with a couple of guys because they happened to be on duty when I was around. The lobby is great but the rest of the building can't keep up. The lift is tight and damn slow. I think it did not reach the top floors; I heard some people complaining about that. The price for the stay was half way between moderate and expensive. The location absolutely great and that made the Imperial my choice for my trip across the pond because I could not find anything cheaper downtown if not a hostel or a low budget(and standard..) accommodation. All in all I would suggest considering this place if you are contemplating a visit to NY and want to stay in Manhattan for a fair price.

"A mouse, unhelpful staff and a little bit of nothing"
02/10/14 HeidarHalldors Reykjavik, Iceland
The lobby looks great. Unfortunaly that's the only positive thing I can say about this hotel. The staff isn't helpful or nice, there is no breakfest available, no baggie-boys and the rooms are decent at best. I got a room at the 11th floor (the elevetor is just ten floors). In the first night I woke up and heard some funny noise. I turned on the light and the first thing I saw was a mouse running across the room! I went down to the lobby and told the night watchman about the whole thing. He showed no emotions, had no interest to do something for me but gave me a key to a new room when I asked for it. I asked if this had ever happened before. He answered no in a very unconvinced way to be honest. I was promised that a baggie boy would bring my bags to the new room the next day. The morning after I went to the lobby to make sure this would happen but the guy who I met told me there were no lobby boys working at this hotel!! A small TV, a bad fridge and a expensive hotel. This is overall bad. To be fair I was quite pleased with the service the last day I stayed. I checked out at 12 pm and was able to keep my bags in the lobby for no extra charge. I also got help to get a ride to JFK.

Very expensive! No breakfast offered.Rude staff indeed.Furnishing ready to collapse. Otherwise the room was clean something I can't say for the rest of hotel, if it really is a hotel I got the feeling people - students were renting rooms long term.
