"Cheaper of two bad choices in Maadi, Cairo."
This hotel is in a state of poor repair. The problem is there are really only 2 hotels in Maadi and this one is half the price of the Sofitel. I have stayed at the Sofitel too and it's not much better and certainly not worth twice the price of the Maadi Hotel. So, in the end you can just choose the Maadi Hotel based on price and make the best of it. […] Just keep your expectations low and you won't be disappointed. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"it is not as it was written 4 stars, it is not more than 2 stars"
The hotel need a lot of maintenace, particulary in AC, and Lefts. No Parking and you will find your self immediately in the middle of congested traffic street. So noisy at night with dog barking and people fights.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Satisfactory quality for the price."
Having stayed at the hotel seven years before and lived in the town (suburb of Cairo) I knew what to expect and exactly what the location was. It's very close to anything you need in Maadi including the metro to go into Cairo. I had no worries about safety or security, taking usual precautions. Breakfast salads were fresh and other Egyptian-type items […] adequate and copious. This hotel does not cater too much to the luxury tourist trade but more for the working or business man. One can see that some years ago this hotel might have seen grander days. There is noise in the street from traffic, but not too late and the call to prayer sounds at about 5:30am. This is a Muslim country. The price was right for me and comfort was all I needed. Room cleaned, fresh and clean linens, no complaints. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

I travel to Cairo every 3 weeks for business and always stay in the Maadi Hotel. Close proximity to the link road and easy access to down town Cairo and other regions of Cairo. The service is always excellent and the staff are extremely friendly. Internet and restaurant facilities are good and this is reflective of very reasonable pricing where you compare staying at the Sofitel which is twice the price. Elevator, electricity, internet, water all working fine for me. Good value for money hotel which i recommend to my other travelers to Cairo.
"Very bad hotel, dirty and old"

I stayed in this hotel since the nearby Sofitel was fully booked. The hotel is awful, the bathroom was very old and not very clean, the toilet seat was broken and the light on the mirror was not working. Also the room, pretty large, looked like not being renovated in the last 30 years and cleaned thoroughly. I checked also other colleagues' rooms and they were in the same shape as mine. At least the view, over Nilo and Pyramids, was excellent. Wifi internet connection was not free. The breakfast is very poor and has just a few type of bread/pastries and cheese. Definitely not worth a 4 star, considering Cairo's standards.

The service is very bad The food variety is poor ,also the food quality is terrible. All the hotel rooms are noisy Some times no water available to take shower and other times the electricity is off. waiting for very long time to take the lift
"Comfortable & close to the Corniche"

Stayed 3 nights on business. I didn't use any of the facilities eg breakfast, pool, internet etc (too many meetings!) but the room (1214) was very spacious, clean, comfortable and properly serviced. No sign of the elevator or key access problems reported by another reviewer. The early morning call to prayer from the mosque was melodious but still not appreciated at 5.00 am (or whatever time it was); but it's part of life in Egypt. I needed an early morning taxi to the airport. This was arranged smoothly. The car was ready 15 mins early. I paid the bell captain so I suppose he got a cut but EGP100 (about $13) was reasonable. I recommend Fusion restaurant on the Corniche. Wonderful ambience. You can sit beside the Nile away from the road and enjoy Chinese/Japanese cuisine....but no alcohol. Good quality service and food. For the best pizzas (but not ambience) go to Maison Thomas. And they serve wine & beer!
"Good value for money"

Hotel is situated 30 minutes from the main pyramids (depends on traffic). Very nice environment. We were on a tour of cognitive and was the nicest hotel. On one bed can sleep in August was the two of us. Bathroom clean, fresh towels every day. Beautiful hotel and visitors many demanding.
"Not as bad as rated on this site - fabulous Nile views"

I was booked into this hotel on a three night business trip and, having read the reviews here, was really put off. Much better than some reports suggest. I was a single woman traveller. The staff were courteous, spoke English, the room was clean and a good size. All the facilities in the room were in good order and the A/C was particularly controllable and quiet. The best feature of this hotel is the views from the rooftop (and out of front-facing windows) - you can see across the Nile and on a clear day, the pyramids at Giza. The call to prayer is two short bursts within about five mins of each other. It'd wake you even through earplugs but you can go back to sleep, so it's better than continual noise issues such as neighbours or roads (the walls were pretty solid - no disturbance from other guests). It isn't comparable with European 4 star hotels, but it isn't bad either. If you don't like the unusual food offers at breakfast there's plenty of decent coffee, croissants and toast. I didn't eat in the hotel in the evenings, use the internet, or the TV. The pool was closed for the winter.

Maadi hotel is a little known hotel in the heart of Cairo... modern, well furnished rooms with an excellent location; Maadi is also a good value. Whats more the Hotel is located within a large complex which has shop, restuarants, cafes etc, which means you can do a lot without having to step out.

"Not for business."

Don't like to bad mouth this place but it is what it is. I booked for a weeks business trip to this area but had to give up and check out after a few days stay. It is a basic 2 or 3 star hotel at most. I could have survived but for three things, power cuts, really poor Internet service and the prayer calls from the adjacent mosque wakening you pre dawn. The rooms are small but liveable. Entertainment is only terrestrial egyptian tv. The bathrooms are quite small with very low pressure shower. The place is reasonably clean by Egypt standards but this is view of regular traveller who has seen a lot of hotels. So if you have high expectations you may be disappointed. Internet is main bugbear as far as trying to work from this hotel goes. It is very slow speed, not high speed at all, as advertised. It continually goes down and regular trips up and down to rectify enlightens you to how many times the room key malfunctions resulting in further expeditions to reception via the ponderous elevator. It is very difficult to avoid the call from prayers from the mosque are they are blasted out on loudspeakers a few metres from your window on the front of the hotel. Obviously no complaint about that but it is only fair that guests should perhaps be made aware of this fact prior to booking or even before room allocation. If this hotel wasn't already a little bit pricey it would be ideal for backpackers prepared to use nearby Internet cares to Facebook and web surfing etc. That should be its target market. Tourists and business visitors will be disappointed.
"The worst hotel i have ever seen"
07/09/12 Aayushgx New Delhi, India
This place is the absolutely worst hotel you can choose. The rooms are small, dirty, unkept. The staff is rude and unhelpful. The location is bad. The price is absurdly high for this kind of dump. They should practically be paying you to live here! You just don't don't want to come here! There are many better options for this price.
