"Only plus: close to Volcanoes National Park"
Very hard to find, but within 15min distance to the VNP. No contact to the owner. All is based on self-service (so no service at all). Very old, musty smell. Bed linens were not clean (many stains, hair). A lot of towels though. Beds were too soft, as well as the pillows. Nothing in the near proximity. Would not recommend it, unless you look for a few hours to sleep near the VNP.

Anbefales bare i lett grad - nokså kalt og fuktig .

"Simply Amazing "

Nice quiet sleep. This little bed and breakfast place offers quiet asylum from the bustling tourism in Hawaii. The owner and caretaker are some of the nicest people we've met on our trip. The bed and breakfast is 100 percent self sufficient with its own farm in the backyard. These people really care for the island. Each room has a little theme on a specific animal. For example in our room it was filled with horses and gave us a warm and homestead feeling that really separates this place from a run of the mill inn or hotel. I would recommend this place to anyone visiting volcanoes because of the first rate service and warm home feeling the bed and breakfast emits.

Stayed in the Ali room, restroom looked like it was just remodeled. Breakfast was good, enjoyed the fresh fruit and oatmeal. Cobwebs on the windows. No AC, the fan in our room only worked when the lights were on.

"Good place for a short visit "

My husband and I stayed there for 1 night, overall it's a good place to stay for a short period. I'm not sure I would want to stay for longer though, because as we entered the Paniolo room, it has some moldy smell although all windows were half opened. They have screens that they put under the opened windows so no bugs can get inside the room. TV was on but flickering on all channels. We can access the common area on the 1st floor at anytime. They had bananas, candies, make your own tea/coffee, utensils, napkins, microwave, water dispenser, and a fridge. Breakfast was good: local fruits and raisin biscuits with coffee or tea. Property is conveniently located close to the national volcano park. It's a really short drive to go back and forth.

A quiet B&B...only stayed one night but it was what I was looking for. About an 1 1/2 drive from Hilo Airport. Fifteen minutes from the entrance to Volcano National Park. The breakfast was ONLY fruit so be prepared to eat more elsewhere if you have activities nearby. Sorta cluttered in it's layout but good enough for my friend and I....nothing fancy

"Great place to stay in Volcano!..."
02/02/15 Moonburn2014 Newmarket, Canada
We stayed at the Aloha Hapoy Place last night, and enjoyed it! This is a bed and breakfast that is very convenient to Volcanoes National Park. It is very tastefully and interestingly decorated in a cottage style. Our stay was very comfortable, and everything we needed was provided, including a very nice continental breakfast. The B&B is on a farm, so the roosters might wake you early, but the charm of this place more than makes up for the wake-up call. The room we stayed in (Bamboo Room) has two single beds, and a full bath. The colour coordination in this room is impressive! Joan, the owner, really has a true interest in ensuring her guests have a pleasant stay, and we really appreciated it!

"Musty and allergy inspiring—good location though"

Wasn't expecting a LOT but there are some things you need to expect. First of all, Volcano is a very moist environment, and the house/rooms are poorly sealed. You'll notice the musty smell as soon as you walk in the door, and it doesn't get better in your room. My allergies were going nuts the whole time—sneezing and snuffling and keeping the girlfriend up with snores (I don't usually snore!). Second, the house is right next to a farm, which sounds charming until the roosters pop off at 3 am, 4am, 5am, and 6 am. And if it isn't the roosters, it's the cat meowing loudly, the dog next door yelping, or the donkey (yep, the donkey) braying loudly enough to wake you up. Bring earplugs and allergy medicine! All this said, the location is excellent—it's a great launching off point for explorations of Kilauea.

"Good/economic place for overnight stay"

We booked for one night in October, and the stay was pleasant. Like some other comments mentioned, the house is homey, and the room decoration is lovely. The bed and was comfortable and we both slept very well . It looks like a private house renovated for hotel usage at a remote village near the Volcano National Park, only about 7 minutes away. So there were no actual “lobby” and just an “office” nearby that we never entered and see. So keep their contact number if you plan to arrive late, as we were and had to call to know where the key was. No shoes are allowed inside the house and no smoking. The library in the first floor is amazing! But I did smell something strong in the first floor though, and it seems like from a kind of spice for cooking. Someone must have been cooking. Maybe to use a little bit air refresher would help. Microwave, refrigerator, tea, coffee and hot water maker are available.

"Pleasantly surprised!"

My husband and I stayed here for one night in August. We were a bit hesitant about staying here, but were pleasantly surprised. The house is homey, and the room (Alii) was lovely. The bed and bedding were comfortable and we both slept very well. There is a lovely library where you can sit by the fire (working fireplace) and read. The inn keeper provides both a large variety of books and movies (there is a tv with vcr dvd player in the room). While there is no official kitchen facility, she does provide a microwave, refrigerator, tea and coffee as well as a hot water maker. We didn't realize it until we left, but she also provides warm coats and hats if you are going to Volcano National Park at night (it can get a bit chilly). There are 2 house rules-no shoes inside and no smoking. The one thing I would say, is that it would be nice if she would provide a place for you to put your shoes right when you enter, instead of having to leave them outdoors.

"kj and charity, Orlando Florida"

The Aloha place was AMAZING! The place was very clean and comfortable. The owner provided a well organized and convenient place to stay. She provided flashlights and maps to use if u wanna tour the volcano at night. Also, there are thick jackets, hats, umbrellas to use at night, because it gets really chilly at night. The place is just a few minutes away from the volcano. 30 min to black sand beach. A definite must experience is the green sand beach located in south point, 40 min f err on the aloha place. We will definitely stay here again.

"good location"

booked this property in march 2013. Followed instructions - no one was at the home. Very clean. Unfortunately, we had a very rainy night and the windows in the small back bedroom banged all night long. Mattresses need to be changed - very little support. Saw no one the next day. This is not a B&B since there is no breakfast but there is a kettle downstairs and tea. This property could be so much more than it is.
