The locaion is excellent, close to the Gateway mall and a great farmers market in in the park across the street. The staff is extremely helpful and polite. I would deffinitely recommend this hotel for business or pleasure trips in Salt Lake City.

The Homewood Suites is an excellent hotel. Unfortunately there is not any vitality to the neighborhood. Our visit was predicated on seeing the Rodriguez concert (Searching For Sugar Man performer-which won an Oscar for best documentary) and prior to the show we had to succumb to dining at a corporate-owned restaurant, Applebee's, with its bland food […] and after the show there was not anywhere to go for an adult beverage where we could relax and talk about the show over a drink. Maybe the Homewood Suites could accommodate this inconvenience with opening a hotel bar for their guests. Read more

I really enjoyed my stay at home wood suites. I thought the room was beautiful and big. I loved the kitchen and dishwasher. I didn't really like the comforter because it kept falling off the bed. I also wish breakfast would last a little longer during the week.

A friend and I stayed here so we could hit the ski resorts and overall we had a really great stay. I did some research before choosing this hotel and for the money, this was the best value. Can't go wrong with free breakfast and free parking. Also, if you make it back in time, there is a free 'light dinner' with beer and wine in the lobby on weekdays […] from 5-7 which we took advantage of. Only complaint is that the hot tub was out of order during our stay. After skiing hard for 3 days we would have liked to soak in the hot tub, but oh well. Location is great too, right off the highway. Our room was plenty big for the two of us and all of our ski gear, with a king sized bed. Very satisfied customer. Read more

I attempted to sleep on the couch hide-a-bed and it was horrific. It would have been more comfortable had I pushed it all back together and slept on the couch. Let me re-phrase: I didn't sleep at all. The other guests, however, that had the beds, seemed to have a pleasant night's rest.

good location to the downtown mall, and good choices for dining within walking distance of it all. easy on and off from the interstate as well. the only draw back to the whole area, including the downtown mall, is the homeless service on the block behind it all.

We love Homewood Suites and will stay in this chain whenever we can. Instead of paying 30 - 100 dollars more for a different brand and only getting a basic room with similar amenities, we enjoy the lower price, larger "suite" type room and all of the space that comes with it. We stayed in a one bedroom suite for 5 nights, and when we checked in we were disappointed to find the previous occupants garbage was still in the room. The maid staff did a very poor job initially cleaning the room. Overall, the maid staff seemed very hit or miss. Some days it was good. Other days it was bad. The breakfast was somewhat good, but they […] always seemed to be out of items. The staff needs to monitor and refresh the items better. There are some good staff working here, but I would say that seventy percent of the staff here needs to be turned over. Lastly, I agree with the other reviews: we were horrified walking down Rio Grande St towards the Gateway mall. This street is to be avoided at *all* costs!!! It is Salt Lake's equivalent of Amsterdam, with rampant drunk and homeless people abusing drugs openly in the street. It is NOT safe to walk down with a family! Read more

This is the second time we have stayed here. It was good overall, though only having one waffle maker in the breakfast area caused long lines. Also, the heater in the room was way out of maintenance and made horrible noises, like a belt was out or something.

Horrible location. I specifically stayed at this hotel because it was 0.3 miles from the Venue, walking distance. Little did I know it was such a dangerous area. Bums everywhere, was afraid to leave the hotel. Reserved a non-smoking room but changed it to smoking when I checked in. The receptionist gave me a non-smoking, anyways. She completely disregarded […] what I asked her. Buttons on the hotel room phone didn't work, shower head leaked. Hallway smelled HORRIBLE. Underground parking was tiny. No Pepsi products. The hotel has great staff, room was clean, beds very comfortable, and breakfast was very good. It is an excellent value. I would have given a 5 for cleanliness except found that someone left dirty underwear and socks in the safe (which I just threw away). I didn't mention it as it really wasn't a big deal. I would definitely go there again.

Good location. Continental breakfast was really good. The curtains in the room were a little weird though. They had thick, dark ones by the couch to shield the room from view. But by the bed, there were only sheer ones. We a room on the third floor, by the pool, so we were a little uneasy about the sheer curtains.

We stayed in the 1 bedroom suite. Had the kitchen with a pull out bed in the front room then a door to the bedroom with 2 queen beds. The beds were really comfortable, they gave you plenty of pillows. Great space and 2 tvs! Would stay there again with our young family..

We stayed in a room with a king size bed. It was comfortable, but the layout was kind of strange with the TV in the middle of the room and a love seat and the bed on either side of the room. The hotel itself was great. The rooms were very clean, it had a very convienent computer office area for guests, the gym was awesome and even though the weather was a little bad while we were there, the kids enjoyed the outdoor pool/spa once it cleared up outside. It was very close to the Gateway mall which was great as we took the kids to the children's […] museum there. The surrounding neighborhood is NOT great as the block or so between the hotel and the mall houses a homeless shelter and soup kitchen. We had planned to walk back to the hotel from the mall and had to detour several blocks as I wasn't going to walk through that area with 2 small children. Once inside the hotel however, you didn't even know that was right outside. We probably would stay here again, just without plans to walk anywhere from the hotel. Read more

As far as the hotel goes, everything was great. However, by the pictures shown, we were led to believe that the hotel had an indoor pool which it did not. Seems like false advertising to me. Also, the hotel is in an area in which is not too safe. Even though it is a block away from the gateway mall, we had to walk through urine-stained streets to get […] to it. There are 3 homless shelters between the hotel and the mall. It was pretty scary walking back after dark. The buffet breakfast was excellent, my children really enjoyed making their own belgian waffles. This place would be great for the business traveler, however it is not a good hotel for walking around and getting a good view of Salt Lake. Read more

Had a mix up with our reservations but thanks to Jamal who took care of it. Hotel is across the street from Pioneer Park where there is a great Saturday market. The area is surrounded by homeless shelters and so there are quite a bit homeless around. We didn't have any problems. There is a mall about 1 blk away with a theatre, restaurants and Planetarium. […] Close enough to Temple square and City Creek that you could walk. Easy access to highway 15. Kids enjoyed pool, teenagers free internet, dad the fitness room and mom, free breakfast and dinner during the week. We'll definitely stay here again when we visit SLC. Read more

We were genuinely surprised when we first walked into our suite - it was huge! The entire space of kitchenette (including a full-size refrigerator, dishwasher, and even a disposal!), sitting area, sleeping area, and bathroom were very well arranged and nicely decorated. We were so comfortable in our room! The hotel's location is beyond great! Everything […] a person could want was within walking distance and the town is very enjoyable to walk through. A large park is right next door, hosting a farmer's market every Saturday, and an open-air mall is only a block away. The local train is easily accessed and inexpensive. Plenty of parking available below the hotel, too, and at no extra charge. A wonderful breakfast awaits guests each morning in a gorgeous lobby.
